What happened in Berkeley last night is the end point of what I have noted many times: that American colleges and universities are no longer centers of free inquiry and intellectual exploration. Instead, they are merely centers of hard-Left propaganda and indoctrination. In this, UC-Berkeley is foremost.
President Trump wrote: “If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view – NO FEDERAL FUNDS?”
Good. He should follow through. The Left has been growing more violent, thuggish, and fascist for a long time, and if this isn’t stopped, a lot of innocent people are going to get hurt or even killed. Everywhere Leftist protesters occupy the streets, those whose opinions are deemed insufficiently progressive are abused, mocked, ridiculed, brutalized and physically menaced. This lawlessness is rapidly becoming the norm. The American public square is being transformed beyond recognition and is ceasing to be an arena for free discourse.
Although this violence and brutalization of political opponents is a new phenomenon in American politics, it has a historical antecedent: the Nazi Brownshirts. In The Coming of the Third Reich, historian Richard J. Evans explains how, in the early days of National Socialist Germany, Stormtroopers (Brownshirts) “organized campaigns against unwanted professors in the local newspapers [and] staged mass disruptions of their lectures.”
To express dissent from Nazi positions became a matter of taking one’s life into one’s hands. The idea of people of opposing viewpoints airing their disagreements in a civil and mutually respectful manner was gone. One was a Nazi, or one was silent (and fearful). That is just the kind of public arena that the Left has been trying to bring to the United States for years, and is bringing to us now. If you don’t believe Islam is a religion of peace, you could get physically attacked by the tolerant and peaceful folks who do — witness all the Twitter warriors who have recently been calling for me to be punched or worse.

“Trump threatens UC Berkeley funds over Breitbart protests,” AFP, February 1, 2017:
Los Angeles (AFP) – US President Donald Trump threatened Thursday to withdraw federal funds from UC Berkeley after violent overnight protests against a planned appearance by a controversial editor of conservative news website Breitbart.
Hundreds of students and other protesters chanting “shut him down” smashed windows at the University of California campus, set wooden pallets on fire and threw fireworks and rocks as police in full riot gear responded with tear gas.
The university was placed on lockdown as the sold-out appearance by Milo Yiannopoulos, a conservative firebrand, was canceled Wednesday evening.
“If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view – NO FEDERAL FUNDS?” Trump wrote on Twitter Thursday.
Trump’s top political adviser Stephen Bannon is the former chairman of Breitbart News.
UC Berkeley is one of the top public universities in the United States. Its operating costs are funded by money from the state of California and tuition fees, as well as grants and government and private contracts….
Similar protests at the University of California at Davis last month also forced the cancellation of speeches by Yiannopoulos and former pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli.
The events at Davis and Berkeley were organized by conservative student groups. A similar invitation to speak at UCLA was rescinded and Berkeley was to be the last stop of his tour.
Officials at the three University of California campuses stressed that they did not invite Yiannopoulos or endorse his ideas but were committed to free speech.
More than 100 UC Berkeley faculty members had signed two letters sent last month to the school’s chancellor, urging him to cancel the event.
“Although we object strenuously to Yiannopoulos’s views — he advocates white supremacy, transphobia and misogyny — it is rather his harmful conduct to which we call attention in asking for the cancellation of this event,” read one of the letters….
He most certainly does not advocate white supremacy, and what he mocks is Leftist puffery, but that’s beside the point. The concept of the freedom of speech is dead at Berkeley, which used to pride itself on being its champion.

It’s probably time to take down the poster. It obviously doesn’t mean what you think it means, at least at UC-Berkeley. Also, if you donate money to the school, stop.

Pres. Trump is responding RATIONALLY to the threat to the FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION! Just as federal funding may be stopped if a campus discriminates by race or religion, so to a campus that DISCRIMINATES by POLITICAL PARTY or POLITICAL VIEWS ought not to be funded federally.
ALL CAMPUS SHOULD DEFEND THE FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION for views that are not held by the majority or even a LARGE MINORITY.
I believe more students are actually COUNTERJIHADISTS than are willing to admit it.

Milo Yiannopoulos is no Nazi.
But to answer your question, yes–as long as Nazis are not calling for violence, they have every right to hold and express their own vile opinions.
And while one has every right to oppose their ugliness, one does *not* have the right to violence against anyone–not even Nazis–so long as they are not being violent themselves. Violence for the private citizen is only acceptable as self defense, and for law enforcement only if it is necessary for upholding the law.

We should remember that we have a major proponent of free speech right here, Robert Spencer, who has to travel, like all prominent critics of Islam, with multiple bodyguards.
Spencer originally didn’t support Trump, on the valid grounds that Trump was critical of the free-speech Muhammad Art Exposition in Garland Texas. Free speech is perhaps like the Allied campaign in World War II, having to suffer flawed allies and numerous reverses, while taking ground hill by hill until gaining the final victory.
One huge problem is that many in the left are simply impervious to logic and facts. It’s like a different sub-branch of humanity. What seems blindingly obvious to one branch is not even an issue for the non-logical, emotional branch. In my opinion, the left is not really afraid of an opinion being expressed. Any expressed opinions are not likely to move the leftist followers. The left is, at its core, a movement of simple power. They are showing their power to shut down any opposition. Their power, and not their arguments, is the root of their influence. Allowing Yiannopoulos to speak would weaken the leftists, not because what he said would make any difference to them, but simply because they were shown to be too weak to prevent his appearance.

That because the Left (at least the unwashed stooges) doesn’t think, it feels. The elitists use and stoke emotions, coupled with the breakdown of impulse control through constant propaganda, to achieve their ends (destruction of social order for the masses, making it easier to position themselves for even greater control). It really is a brilliant strategy, straight from the mind of Satan – use SJW idiots to riot and bring disorder, if nothing is done, disorder is achieved. If it get’s too out of hand, bring down the hammer of big government. Even if it is currently wielded by someone less than desirable, eventually that enlarged hammer will come into the hands of the “right” people. Heads we win, tails you lose.

If he does, as he should, that measure will be met with cries of “oppression” and “fascism”. As I noted a few days ago, these people are the architects of their own “oppression”. They break the law and complain about being persecuted when they are faced with the consequences of breaking the law.
I always get a good chuckle whenever Milo is referred to as being, or advocating for, “white supremacy”. How many white supremacy movements would be ok with a gay Jewish convert to Catholicism with a fetish for blacks? The reality is that Milo advocates against discriminating people on the basis of their skin colour, which puts him at odds with the “progressive” notion that in Western nations anything a white person has is the result of historical racism and exploitation of non-whites, thus justifying discriminating against whites – not wanting to discriminate against white is equal to white supremacy, apparently. He’s also against the unknowable increasing number of made up “genders” and the feminist supremacy movement, another two “progressive” ideas that are also based on – what a surprise! – the idea that a majority group has been historically oppressing/exploiting other groups, so saying that there are only two biological sexes and that there shouldn’t be discrimination against men because equality of outcome is fundamentally unjust makes him a “transphobe” and “misogynist”.

It seems we have a new Bolshevik Revolution in its infancy.
Perhaps Thomas Friedmann could take Milo’s place and tell students about his recent letter to industrialists asking for them to reject the US President immigration controls. Of course, he won’t tell the students about his published desire to economically flatten the world by giving their future to foreigners through unlimited immigration of “high-skilled” workers.
That would displace them just as effectively as the universities and industrialists have displaced the manual and semi-skilled laborers. The students would lap it up like the mindless screaming audiences of the Late Night shows and never realize Friedmann is an enemy to their future and the future of the US.
The Obama administration may brag about how it has improved the future for these students, yet, the student’s actions tell a different story about an underlying dissatisfaction with their personal lives. Many will leave in debt to face lives less affluent than their parents. Much of this concern for immigrants is displaced frustration finding an outlet.
What we are witnessing is a neo-communism, still poorly unorganized, in its infancy. Friedmann and his industrial “friends” could turn it into the real thing. Displaced people don’t die, or stop having children who vote – they get angry. President Trump’s election is unrefutable evidence of that.

This is not what America used to be. Shameful that academia tolerates fascist influence. The very characteristics of fascism – as it was practiced in Nazi-Germany – was its anti-intellectual stance. Not to mention its high profiled anti-Semitism.
It is clear, that Moslem influence on campus facilitates a Moslem habit which encompasses all. Islam brings forth all the hallmarks of fascism: contempt of the opposed, might is right, feelings of supremacy (even that trait cover for a severe inferiority complex).

For what it’s worth, many students and faculty have made the claim that the violence was perpetrated not by students but by organized, paid thugs bused in. Certainly, that would not really surprise me.
Francis Merde says
You know, this actually ties in to how I first started following what Robert did roughly six years back. I didn’t know jack shit about Islam, but had some Muslim co-workers. I believe I searched for a comparison between Christianity and Islam, and Robert’s book popped up “Religion of Peace: Why Christianity is and Islam Isn’t.” At first I found his statements to be incendiary and bold, but I found an English translation of the Koran and fact-checked it to make sure that he wasn’t ripping things out of context (spoiler: he wasn’t). And then I found some old debates between him and others on YouTube (back before they just decided to no-platform him), because I still didn’t want to just take his word for it.
Here’s what I saw time and time again. Robert Spencer would ask some very direct questions about the Koran, frequently providing quotations directly from its text. Now, at first I was expecting his opposite numbers to do similar, because the only way to contradict a statement in a religious text is to provide a contrasting quotation, and show that said quote has some sort of primacy. This never happened. In almost every case, his opponent would go off on a random tangent, and just not answer the question. In fact there were several instances watching those debates where I smashed my hand down on the desk and said: ANSWER THE QUESTION DAMN IT!
Now how does this tie-in to the discussion in this article. Well it goes like this… I need not fear student groups inviting hardcore Islamists onto college campuses, because if they did then someone like me could just walk down and, calmly and patiently, ask them the tough questions that I know now that they don’t have good answers for. Basically, their arguments can be easily deconstructed with but a few words. Violence is the last recourse of a weak and simple mind, it’s what happens when the other side has no argument, and it knows it. That’s why the Left is so afraid of people like Milo Yiannopoulos, because he pushes the bounds of acceptable speech to remind people empirically why it needs to be defended, and more importantly who its enemies are. For years, the Left has tried to position itself as a champion of free speech. But incidents like this one show that while it might have been true a long time ago, it is most definitely not the case today.

No. I chose a name that translates to “frank s***” because I am a proponent of free and unfiltered opinions. I am well aware of the Left’s penchant for ruining the lives of those they disagree with by tarring and feathering them in the public square, and I’m not giving them any ammo. While anonymity as used by these Blac Block hooligans is nothing more than a blanket excuse to cause trouble, anonymity in written political discourse is a time honored tradition that dates all the way back to Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense,” as well as the discourse of Alexander Hamilton and John Jay in The Federalist Papers. By removing my identity from the equation I also force any arguments that I make to live and die on their own merits.

The end of free speech begins when people start attaching labels like fascist, racist, hatemonger, islamophobe, etc. to anyone who disagrees with them. When the media starts using labels as though the matter was already decided it gets dangerous. A recent CNN article about Milo and the riots had a headline about how Milo was trying to make hate speech cool. In other words, the writer assumes that everyone agrees that Milo is a spreader of hate speech. How convenient, now they don’t have to discuss, debate or even think about another opinion. They can just remain superior. And since we are now supposed to believe that this supposed hate speech actually threatens students, they now have an excuse to act like the angry, self-centered hypocrites they are.
And even if they were protesting hate speech they are completely missing the point of the first amendment. It is specifically designed to protect the opinions we may despise. This makes the protesters the real fascists.

Yeah, Berkeley is in the other 2%, but the fact that you picked it to engage in an anti-American screed against American males says far more about you than you realize. If ever most of America’s adult males become men, police officers will die by the dozen every day to punish them for aiding and abetting prosecutors and politicians who perpetuate leftist dependency and parasitism rackets like Social Security and SNAP.
If most of America’s adult males were men, the squalid sentimentality and sheepish servility of Christianity would be driven into the oceans. If most of America’s adult males were men, the Bush admin and its “compassionate conservatism” would have been laughed out of office soon after W’s effeminate suggestion to go shopping and spend a little money after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. (In fact, no man voted for such degenerates in the first place.) If most of America’s adult males were men, no one would need to tell them that the 2nd amendment is a scam to centralize control over militias and practically outlaw legitimate private militia formation. If most of America’s adult males were men, the Muslims would have been nearly wiped out within a year of 9/11. This would have happened spontaneously.
But America doesn’t have many men. Instead, it has sports nuts, Jew worshippers, punks, drunks, frat boys, gluttons, skirt chasers, mama’s boys, the “man” of the left, insatiable money grubbers, cop worshipping flag wavers, militarists, and so on. Also, it is a slur on the American military man (remember Pumbar said American males have lost their balls since WWII) who has valiantly fought for other peoples’ freedom in Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, in Afghanistan, in Iraq, etc. What Pumbar averred is wrong, idiotic and cowardly. I trust I have been crystal clear here. And by all means, take me up on that tavern or football game suggestion of mine and see how long you last. I am no fan of the modern left–but the idea that “real men” would slaughter those who hold different political beliefs is just grotesque. Americans are a civilized people; men or women, we do not behave in that manner. That is not a weakness–that is strength.
More:
If ever most of America’s adult males become men, police officers will die by the dozen every day to punish them for aiding and abetting prosecutors and politicians who perpetuate leftist dependency and parasitism rackets like Social Security and SNAP.
………………………………
This is grotesque for several reasons. Firstly, while there are exceptions, most police officers are conservatives, not leftists. Secondly, the idea that “real men” would be apt to murderously turn on law enforcement simply makes no sense. For the most part, they are upholding the rule of law, not enforcing “dependency”.
The same with prosecutors–most of them are dealing with actual violent criminals, not with enforcing the SNAP Program.
The idea that “real men” want a world where criminals–and, one would presume, Jihadists–are allowed to run amok, but where police officers are mass-slaughtered, is just twisted.
More:
If most of America’s adult males were men, the squalid sentimentality and sheepish servility of Christianity would be driven into the oceans.

Firstly, describing the faith of many brave men as “squalid sentimentality and sheepish servility” is just ridiculous–but even if this *were* true, the idea that “real men” would go around murdering peaceful people for practicing Christianity is just sickening. Real men don’t behave this way.
If you want a world where Christians are butchered for practicing their faith, why don’t you just convert to Islam?
More crap:
If most of America’s adult males were men, the Bush admin and its “compassionate conservatism” would have been laughed out of office soon after W’s effeminate suggestion to go shopping and spend a little money after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Ah…right. Then “real men” are supposed to oppose the 2nd Amendment. How would that work out for any American, male or female, concerned about maintaining our freedoms?
More:
If most of America’s adult males were men, the Muslims would have been nearly wiped out within a year of 9/11. This would have happened spontaneously.
………………………………
No–the idea that “real men” engage in mass slaughter is just sickeningly false.
Again, why doesn’t Allen just join Islam? They certainly agree with his “values”.

“Jew worshippers”? If Allen regards treating civilized Jewish people as equals as “Jew worship”, then–again–he should consider Islam. He can murder Jews to his heart’s content in that creed. Finding “real men” to join him in this in the civilized world? Probably not so much…
He also considers any regard for the police and military to involve “worship”, as well–rather than a well-earned and healthy respect.
I’m trying to imagine what Allen’s world would look like–probably either a neo-barbarian dystopia, or else–well–the worst stretches of Dar-al-Islam. Somalia or the Afghan tribal areas might fit the bill for him just fine.

Wellington, I assure you that my remarks were sufficiently broad enough to account for the attitude and predictable behavior of America’s bar brawlers. Read again my remarks, esp. where I mentioned drunks, punks, sports nuts, skirt chasers, and flag wavers. Bear in mind, however, that I should have specified also those males who vote for politicians and police officers to be the men in their lives.
It should go without saying now that the Nazis brilliantly exploited this craving of sheep for a manly government to protect them, and most of America’s white males are pretty much the same. If Trump is as wily as some are now claiming, he will call out America’s adult white males on this basis, thereby humiliating them AND giving the leftists another excuse for a temper tantrum to relieve their cognitive dissonance.
GI, please recall that Jesus was a Jew, and that many, many adult American males, nominally men, worship that pathetic rabble rouser even though it’s as obvious as the sun is yellow that he was a sentimental sophist who committed suicide. Those males are Jew worshippers, and you will find more men in any given masjid of Arabia on a Friday afternoon than among all of America’s male Jew worshippers. I trust that Trump may figure out this, too, given his rather weak Christian faith.

With that remark your ignorance and ill intent is further confirmed.
Alliteration doesn’t make up for it.
Wellington says
Provide me examples, Allan and Pumbar, where American men en masse haven’t defended their women? You two know didly shit about America. Not a single male family member, male friend or male acquaintance that I know wouldn’t come after a man that harmed their wife, girlfriend or daughter. Then, later, they might call the police.
As for the rugby comment, what crap. It only reveals a massive ignorance of the greatest team sport ever invented by man——–American football. Rugby players wouldn’t stand a chance against the likes of teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers or New England Patriots. With or without equipment they would rip rugby players apart. American football players are stronger, faster, larger and quicker than rugby players, speaking in the aggregate, and rugby players to be sure are tough enough, but they would get slaughtered by American football players if they attempted to play American football. Indeed, here in America, at the college level, those that play rugby tend to be the men who couldn’t make the football team.
BTW, lots of rapes of British females by Muslims, and of females from several other Western European nations, have been well documented. Notice the almost complete absence of that here in America. Just sayin’. You two, Pumbar and Allan, surely don’t know America worth didly shit. In Montana, West Virginia, Arizona, certainly Texas, here in my home state of Pennsylvania, et al., saying what you have asserted about American males would land you in serious condition real quick like, for instance in the many bars frequented by Steelers fans in Pittsburgh. Yeah, I’d like to see either of you state in such a bar what you have stated here hiding behind a computer. Oh yeah, would be a Kodak moment. Get stuffed, both of you.
And know that I have long honored the British military tradition and British toughness, but America kicks ass like no other polity In the history of mankind. One knows this or should know it. You two don’t. Hell, I have male relatives married to military women and these women could probably take you two down, let alone their husbands. Done here.

@ Allan
I believe you have sufficiently demonstrated what you are. Is the word “troll”?
I make it a point to not interact with trolls so I won’t be reading any more of your comments.

GI, please recall that Jesus was a Jew, and that many, many adult American males, nominally men, worship that pathetic rabble rouser even though it’s as obvious as the sun is yellow that he was a sentimental sophist who committed suicide.
………………………………
I see Allan is back to his screed against Christians. Most American Christians regard Jewish people with respect and consider them equals, but they do not worship Jesus on the basis of his having been Jewish.
Clearly, he understands little about Judaism, Christianity, or Americans.
But he does reveal himself as an antisemitic twerp.
More:
Those males are Jew worshippers, and you will find more men in any given masjid of Arabia on a Friday afternoon than among all of America’s male Jew worshippers. I trust that Trump may figure out this, too, given his rather weak Christian faith.
………………………………
And *the mask comes off*: that Allan considers pious Muslims–who sexually abuse small children; beat their wives; murder religious minorities like Christians, Ahmadis, and Hindus after Friday prayers; rape Infidels; behead those accused of “sorcery”; and stone women to death to be ‘manly’ compared to decent American men is just sickening–and *very* revealing.
This is not “‘manliness’–it is thuggary against the weak. Appalling that Allan does not appear to grasp the difference.
As for “flag waving”, despite the stupid story above, I find a lot to be proud of in America and the rest of the West.
Again, that Allan openly admires *Saudi Arabia* instead reveals just what his repulsive values are.
Certainly, he is no Anti-Jihadist.

Fine replies from Wellington, Phil Copson, and Kay.
Allan says
Pumbar, you are correct to ridicule the adult males of America. Almost all of them are degenerates. See also my remarks above to Wellington.
Wellington says
Your comment, Allan, that almost all American males are degenerates ranks as one of the most incorrect and stupidest comments I have read here in all my years posting at JW. “Congratulations.”
Pumbar says
Comparatively Wellie I can’t think of a modern nation with a higher percentage.
Allan says
Please explain what all of America’s “men”, esp. its flag waving blow hards, were doing when Daddy Double U told them to go shopping.

Let me get this straight: you know that there are Muslims regularly marrying small children, practicing Bachi Bazi, throwing gay people off roofs, and stoning women to death, but you believe civilized American men are all degenerates? Good God…
Wellington says
“Comparatively Wellie I can’t think of a nation with a higher percentage.”
Well, then, Pumbar, you are either an ignoramus or a liar. Of course, it’s possible you could be both, but one alone is bad enough.
My God, whichever, you are a fool——-to the core of your being. What a sad sack piece of shit you are.
Pumbar says
Yes, because our Western world is influenced by the cultural behemoth that is the USA.
Good God isn’t going to help us.
Pumbar says
Wellie, I won’t rise to your insults because crossing intellectual epees with an imbecile is the work of a scoundrel; I am no scoundrel, my witless wanderer of the world wide web.
Some men have gumboots named after them, others name themselves after gumboots.
That might be “gumboot diplomacy”.
Wellington says
Pumbie: You couldn’t even have rise to my insults. Just for the record and all that.
So sad you are just another ignorant hater of America. And, adding to your ignorance, you have zero comprehension of American football. Fitting since you pretty much have zero comprehension of America in general.
But you won’t ever appear in a Pittsburgh bar (or a Philadelphia or Houston or Dallas or Chicago or Atlanta or Kansas City bar, et al.) and spout your nonsense about America and American football. Nope, you will never do this——–and this speaks volumes about you. More than you will ever realize I’m certain.
I, by contrast, honor Britain and its sports heritage (though all the while to be sure of the conviction that American football, which I strongly suspect you know next to nothing about, is a truly magnificent team sport), as I honor Britain in general, though lately it is so sad to see how the UK, along with so many other Western European nations, have lost their collective balls.
America still hasn’t, your imbecilic assertions to the contrary, and Trump’s election is partial proof of this. Meanwhile, the UK has Sharia May in continual apologia mode for the heinous belief system which is Islam, all the while the British monarchy, an institution I used to respect, has gone silent or worse on the demise of freedom in Britannia.
This is all, asshole.
gravenimage says
Pumbar doesn’t appear to have any problems with Muslim savagery, either–but he is fine with insulting the erudite and decent Wellington. What a tool.
Pumbar says
Oh dear…
gravenimage says
Is this Pumbar attempting to counter any point Wellington or I made?
Pumbar says
One calls me a shit, the other calls me a tool.
You want me to counter your “points”?
I thought you were better than that.
I expect that sort of dummy spitting from your play pal wellie and his epsilon grade effluent but not you.
gravenimage says
Pumbar, I cited a great number of points, all of which you have chosen to ignore. And much worse; you have not a word of criticism for the appalling Allan, who prefers Muslim savages to civilized American men.
Like Wellington, I have a great deal of respect for Britain and the rest of the Anglophone world–for those who believe that America is the enemy, rather than the horror of Islam, not so much.
Pumbar says
I wasn’t aware that you made any points against me which I hadn’t responded to? Other than calling me a tool.
I have no criticism of Allan he is a straight out Nietzschean. I can almost spot some of the quotes; not my favourite philosopher, but hey, I believe in free speech.
I spend most of my anti-islam activities on Youtube trying to convince Westerners (and a few wobbly wahabis) that islam is seriously bad news.
Almost all of my time is spent arguing with young white males from the USA now.
You may not like it but your campus culture is really going global. You don’t see the image that the USA is portraying to us outside. It may be different for a resident in the USA but from where we stand outside your males all look like Steve Shives (one of many US youtubers).
I don’t consider you an idiot GI so I don’t want to fall out with you.

Then you agree with him that Muslims–who marry little girls, slaughter Infidels after Friday prayers, and stone rape victims to death–are more manly than are American men? I have to admit I cannot help but find this disturbing.

I believe in free speech as well. I fully support Allan’s right to spew his ugly and silly rot–but that does not mean I have to agree with it.
Disagreeing with someone is *not* abridging their freedom of speech. I have not called for Allan to be banned, and I am certainly not calling for him or anyone else to lose their right to express any ideas that might pass thought their heads.

While there are many things I respect about my alma mater, this ugly stupidity is not among them–as I have made clear elsewhere on this thread.
But I think you will find that things are as bad or worse in Britain and Europe as they are in the United States–the idea that the font of all dhimmitude and enabling of Islam is America is *very* questionable.
In fact, many Brits and Europeans castigate Americans for their suspicion of Islam and for their at least sporadic defending against Jihad, That is especially obvious in the wake of the election of Donald Trump here.
That does not mean I’m universally dumping on Britons and Europeans, either–just noting a troubling situation throughout the West.

I don’t consider you an idiot, either, Pumbar–as I said, I have read your posts here for a log time. We can probably leave this disagreement at this point.
Pumbar says
You are correct Allan.
It’s there for all the world to see.
Allan says
Yes, and the leaders of both leftists and Muslims have taken note, or so I suspect. Much of their recent hysterics seem to be a motivated by a fear, not exactly rational, that the adult males of America and western Europe will rediscover their sex and prepare a beatdown without first holding lengthy democratic debate or asking for permission from their leaders. If they do rediscover their sex, the contemporary window of opportunity for the left and the Muslims could close rapidly and painfully upon their necks and fingers.
However, this is not the world of the alliance which came together ca. 732 near Tours to stop and turn back the Islamic invaders. Since that time an interesting breeding experiment has been carried out in favor of the genes of sheepishness and dependency. This was wrought by Christianity, of course, and, to make the situation even more interesting, during the past 100 yrs or so there have been extraordinary culls in Europe to reduce the proportion of sheep who are apt to bite when commanded by a shepherd. Both the leftists and the Muslims are positioned to exploit the resulting conditions, but the leftists are more dependent upon the service and protection of police and military to consolidate their gains. And the leftists are preoccupied with helping the Muslims. So I still believe that conditions favor the Muslims’ interests (theocracy) in the long term (>50 yrs) even though the risk of another leftist despotism arising, probably through riots and chaotic assaults, during the short term is greater and rising.
gravenimage says
The idea that democracy is incompatible with manliness is ludicrous. There is nothing genuinely manly about a society based on brute force.
The idea that the West never defended against Islam after 732 AD is obviously ridiculous, as well–I suppose the brave men at Lapanto; at the Gates of Vienna; those who took back Spain, Portugal, southern France and Italy, Sicily, Greece, and the Balkans; and those who founded the modern state of Israel were all just a bunch of ‘pussies’ as these twits see it, as well.
Wellington says
Always good to have you on the side I fight for, gravenimage. Indeed, you do a better job of it than I do.
And twits like Pumbar and Allan, having no kind word for America, only denigrating it, reveal far more they realize, as I have stated before. Each is a fool or something even worse, and although the motive or motives of these twits can be debated, that they are twits, as you designated them, is beyond dispute by any person who has retained their common sense and kept the built-in crap detector they were born with from getting rusty.
gravenimage says
Same here, Wellington–I am always proud to stand with you.
gravenimage says
One more important question for Allan, one I very much doubt he will answer: if real men murder police officers, how many cops have you killed? I hope the body count is pretty high, or else I may have to question your masculinity…
gravenimage says
I realize that Allan may just have left this thread and not have seen this question–still, it cannot but seem convenient that he decamped before ever saying if he was putting his horrific assertions into practice himself…
Kay says
I don’t think this is about the quality of American men.
These rioters that show up at Milo events and in certain cities look like a paid army. They come in force with clubs and shields.
Then stupid “progressives” are also there, probably invited by the same group that pays the small army, and unquestionably encouraged by idiotic stars and public figures. The stupid progressives believe they are standing up for justice by joining the protests but
there is something more insidious and dangerous going on.
In my city, these “anarchists” who call themselves “anti-fascists” showed up on Inauguration Day. Businesses had boarded windows to avoid damage. Then I saw on the website that invites people to join the protests that they also request donations to cover the damages caused by these thugs.
If the FBI works for the US, it should be working to get to the bottom of this.
gravenimage says
Yes–this does seem to be what happened.

Context is important but allowing diverse opinion is at the heart of a university education or at least it was when I went to university in Canada. One of my profs was a card carrying Communist who taught a course comparing worldwide revolutions and their commonalities. Could I get that at USC? Not bloody likely. I would not send my children to a university where thinking is controlled and political correctness trumps all.

At 51 votes the US Senate could confirm DeVoss, Sessions, and Price.
But Republican in name only RINO”s Murkowski, Collins, and McCain swear they will block ANY of their own party’s appointees for the next 4 years
and to keep the vice president from being the deciding vote in the Senate, we need at least 3 Democrats to break a sworn boycott of Washington by all Democrats 2 independents and 3 RINO”S.
Supreme Court requires the full 60 votes and needs 8 Democrats to break the blockade.. A boycott that is composed of those democrat lifetime politicians who wish to be paid millions not to show up for work…
But this is really bad, imagine paying someone a half million a year and private security to go on vacation for 4 years.. Paying lifetime politicians millions of dollars to go on vacation and not do their job is not a cost effective form of governance..

Why in the flying F*** would a college that charges $20,000 a semester be receiving *ANY* taxpayer dollars? (It was 20k a semester more than 20 years ago… no idea what it is now. I was accepted into Yale at age 13… but couldn’t afford the insane pricetag, and no scholarship… so I went to state college at $700 a semester. Even at 13 I wasn’t stupid enough to think that $120k or so EXTRA in costs was going to earn me that much more in any career over a state college education)
maghan says
But it does. The “prestige” of a Yale degree is what actually boosts gross life-time income for all Yale graduates. When Obama and Hillary were hiring, resumes boasting Harvard, Yale, Brown and Princeton were given special consideration
Of course, in areas where factual knowledge is taught there would be no differences in content between a high-priced Yale education and a state university. But differences in ideology and orientation would be evident between state schools and the very expensive tony elite schools.
But what has been happening is that the state schools have been hiring the graduates from those “elite”schools and the ideological brain-washing gets passed on to the students who attend those schools.

Milo is great. Watch him here in New Mexico present some genuine facts on Islam, which is too much for some of the Muslims present to handle & they walk out. As they walk out in fury he takes them down further, top stuff. Muslims just can’t handle the truth.
Milo is angry that as a gay man he would be killed in multiple Islamic countries. This bare fact alone is too much for the Muslims & libtards present to accept.

Unfortunately, Trump’s warning to UC, is very weak ang borders on being pathetic. What happened in Berkley wasn’t something unusual or rare. I am sure those, who lead those protests are laughing.President Trump should have stopped government funding immidiatly and resume funding, when his demands are met. Promises like that and made on twitter make him look weak and open to ridicule.

“… Although this violence and brutalization of political opponents is a new phenomenon in American politics, it has a historical antecedent: the Nazi Brownshirts… in the early days of National Socialist Germany, Stormtroopers (Brownshirts) “organized campaigns against unwanted professors in the local newspapers [and] staged mass disruptions of their lectures…”
In the immediate aftermath of the WW1 armistice Germany was a stage for ongoing violent confrontation between rival Socialist movements with the National Socialists and Comintern Marxists bludgeoning more centrist groups into submission with undemocratic and phony demonstrations of ‘people power’ through mass street demonstrations and the public humiliation of opponents.
Robert Spencer is right to caste a spotlight on the undemocratic climate that has been created within centres of higher learning by Academics who have become increasingly intolerant of diversity of opinion in social policy areas. A balance that was healthier in the 1950’s has been degraded and lost with a resultant woeful degeneration into indoctrination of each new wave of adolescent students.

UC-Berkeley: Left-fascists riot, prevent Milo speech, Trump threatens federal funds
…………………………….
Disgusting. This is my alma mater. The above is a picture of my bank. In addition to setting the Student Union on fire, the mob also smashed up and looted businesses, including an off-campus Starbucks.
I may not agree with Milo Yiannopoulos on every point, but he does not call for violence and has every right to speak.
Perhaps worst of all, the next day a Campus Republican student wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap was beaten up by two thugs who leapt out of an SUV and assaulted him. This was witnessed by an Associated Press reporter:
“Student Trump supporter beaten on Berkeley campus after protest”
