“Canadian Muslims are once again forced to apologize for something they had nothing to do with, that according to one imam who says other faith groups aren’t held to the same standards.”
This is just an attempt to obscure the real issue. It’s true: no one should expect Muslims in Canada or anywhere else to apologize for what another Muslim did in Britain. They indeed had nothing to do with it. But there remains the question of whether the Muslim in Britain was acting in accord with teachings of Islam that call for violence against unbelievers. If so, Muslims in Canada and everywhere else, if they reject those teachings, should be working to make sure that no other Muslims act according to the understanding of Islam that the Muslim in Britain had. instead, Syed Soharwardy whines about collective guilt.
“If a Muslim commits a crime then it should be that person’s individual actions (that are judged) or that organization’s actions. Muslims around the world have declared that ISIS is not a Muslim organization.”
Indeed. But many of those who have condemned ISIS were Muslim Brotherhood organizations that didn’t actually condemn ISIS’ understanding of Islam, but only condemned it in order to deceive Westerners and advance their own interests. No one is responsible for the London jihad attack except the jihad attackers. But Muslims everywhere, if they condemn the Islamic theology by which such attacks are justified, need to work for genuine reform. Where are we seeing that?
And where, beyond the plethora of fake anti-Muslim hate crimes, do we see any actual backlash against innocent Muslims?
“Canadian Muslims dealing with repercussions following attack: Imam,” by Kenny Mason, News 1130, March 25, 2017:
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A Canadian Imam says Muslims in this country are once again going to face a backlash for terrorist events around the world.
While he is condemning the attacks in London this week, he believes he shouldn’t have to.
Canadian Muslims are once again forced to apologize for something they had nothing to do with, that according to one imam who says other faith groups aren’t held to the same standards.
When a Christian commits one of these heinous acts, the entire community isn’t held responsible for it according to Syed Sohawardy with Muslims Against terrorism.
He doesn’t want what he calls special treatment, just to be treated fairly.
“If a Muslim commits a crime then it should be that person’s individual actions (that are judged) or that organization’s actions. Muslims around the world have declared that ISIS is not a Muslim organization.”
He wants muslims [sic] to be treated like everyone else.
“Just like any other faith community. If in the Christian community, somebody commits a crime, the Christianity does not get blamed. All Christians are not responsible for the crimes of that person who has a christian faith.”…
