Jihad Watch

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Electronics banned on flights to US from Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, UAE

Mar 21, 2017 7:04 am By Robert Spencer

The consequences of allowing them on board could be explosive, so they’re banning them. Watch for the cries of “Islamophobia.” But no amount of faux indignation and censorship of the news will conceal the reality that jihad terrorists are Muslim, every last one of them. There are few, if any, Methodist ones.

“Electronics banned on some US flights from Middle East,” BBC, March 21, 2017:

The US has announced a ban on electronic devices from cabin baggage on flights from eight mainly Middle Eastern and North African countries.

Officials said extremists were planning to bring down passenger jets with bombs hidden in laptops, tablets cameras, DVD players and electronic games.

The measure will affect nine airlines operating out of 10 airports.

Large electronic devices will only be allowed on board in checked baggage. Phones are exempt from the new rules.

US officials said the airlines had been given 96 hours, beginning at 07:00 GMT on Tuesday, to ban devices bigger than a mobile phone or smartphone from cabins. They said the ban had no end date.

The airports affected are:

Queen Alia International, Amman, Jordan
Cairo International Airport, Egypt
Ataturk Airport, Istanbul, Turkey
King Abdulaziz International, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
King Khalid International, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Kuwait International Airport
Mohammed V International, Casablanca, Morocco
Hamad International, Doha, Qatar
Dubai International, United Arab Emirates
Abu Dhabi International, United Arab Emirates

The nine airlines are:

Royal Jordanian
Egypt Air
Turkish Airlines
Saudi Arabian Airlines
Kuwait Airways
Royal Air Maroc
Qatar Airways
Emirates
Etihad Airways

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly called members of Congress over the weekend to explain the security issues behind the ban, congressional aides said.

The restrictions had been under consideration for several weeks, US media said.

In February 2016 an aircraft operated by the Dubai-based carrier Daallo was damaged by an explosion shortly after take-off from the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

Investigators said a passenger who was sucked out of the plane had been carrying a laptop bomb. The pilot managed to land and the alleged bomber was the only fatality. Had the device gone off at cruising altitude, the plane would almost certainly have been destroyed.

The Islamist militant group al-Shabab, which is linked to al-Qaeda, claimed that it was responsible. The possibility of further such attacks is apparently what is now concerning American spies….

so, the islamists will take them to Europe and fly into the us with electronically activated in cabin bombs from there!
it makes more sense to ban people from those countries or extreme vetting in their homeland before they get on the planes!

Follow the example of El Al and implement passenger profiling.

Ignore the squeals of outrage from the Islamic community – all over the world passengers are sick and tired of tiresome and time consuming security checks and the hindrance caused anywhere one travels. All this has been caused by Muslims who have blown up planes, shot passengers and airport workers, so it really does make sense to concentrate on the one sector KNOWN to cause the trouble we are all facing.

British banks handled vast sums of laundered Russian money

That’s why majority in Russia lives a miserable life, but… “Obama/Trump plays golf, while Putin is a real ruler”.

I remember when the only risk to flying other than the odd acciden, was the occasional crazy person who would hijack a plane to Cuba.
Thanks islam for making our lives a dangerous mess!

Aha.. again this is aMuslim ban according our “learned” federal judges. when are Muslims and their supporters going to file a suit against DHS in Seattle or Honolulu. Morons – the liberal judges call themselves fair and impartial judges!! Far from it.

What? Can’t they even carry an electronic clock in an attaché case that looks for all purpose like the timer on a briefcase bomb?

Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and UAE are a bunch of RACISTS if they ban electronic timer devices on their outgoing flights!

Would be better if we were banning people from muslim countries but electronics are a start.

Maybe after we finally get out of the EU. Article 50 to be triggered by end of March. Yeah! Then Merkel can keep all those new ‘Germans’ she invited to cross the Med.

It is a wise and appropriate move. jihadis are not only dedicated to murdering, but they want to notoriety and fear for Islamic propaganda. I notice that no EU countries, their airports nor airlines are mentioned.
After all, what would they do without observing “political correctness?”
Of course, innocent lives could be saved, but to the EU that is insignificant as long as it can preserve its “open, no borders, come one, come all” idiocy.

Good move by John Kelly, the DHS and what? Congress was involved at some level? Imagine that, a functioning gov’t making a decisive and powerful decision. I hope it proves to effective and that more measures are on the way.

I suppose an explosion in the passenger cabin is worse than an explosion in the luggage/cargo hold but perhaps not by much. Anyone?
What’s to prevent a jihadist from flying to Berlin, Paris, Athens, Rome, etc. then deplaning and boarding a different flight, with electronics in carry-on, to the US?
I marvel at the logical and critical thinking exhibited by this “ban”.
