“During the service, the man dressed in a traditional dishdasha walked inside the church and went straight to where the priest was speaking. A few parishioners nearby heard that the man was asking ‘to see the Pope.'”
If the Pope had been on the scene, he would have explained to him how true Islam and the proper understanding of the Qur’an reject every form of violence, and everything would have been all right.
“Man ‘armed with knife’ disrupts Catholic mass in Kuwait City,” Kuwait Times, by Aakash Bakaya, March 20, 2017 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
KUWAIT: A citizen, carrying a concealed knife, disrupted mass at the Catholic Church in Kuwait City Sunday evening. The man was later arrested by police. No one was hurt in the incident. Interior Ministry officials confirmed that a Kuwaiti man was taken by police after causing a disturbance at the Holy Family Cathedral Sunday evening. Two eye witnesses at the church confirmed to Kuwait Times that the man was carrying a long kitchen knife.
During the service, the man dressed in a traditional dishdasha walked inside the church and went straight to where the priest was speaking. A few parishioners nearby heard that the man was asking “to see the Pope”. The man then walked to the podium and tried to seize the microphone from the priest. Several ushers then came forward and escorted him from the church premises. After being led from the church, the man was handed over to police. When he saw officers approaching, the man dropped the knife that had been hidden inside his dishdasha.
An Interior Ministry official noted that the citizen, in his 60s, suffers from mental health issues. According to the same official, who asked that his name not be published, the citizen was taken by police to the Psychiatric Hospital for monitoring, where he already has a file and has been receiving treatment. The official denied involvement of any terrorist organization or threat to the church or its parishioners.
Officials from the Holy Family Cathedral confirmed the incident as well but noted that the church is well protected – police are regularly stationed outside the church during hours of operation. There is a sizable Christian community in Kuwait, approximately 750,000 adherents. There seven officially recognized churches and many of the country’s expatriate residents from India, the Philippines and other countries attend regular church services. The Catholic Church has an estimated 500,000 followers in Kuwait.
Attacks on churches or the Christian community in Kuwait are largely unheard of. But after the June 2015 suicide bombing of the Imam Al-Sadiq mosque in Kuwait City, the Interior Ministry expanded security at local churches with a regular posted police presence.

Amazing: Are churches still allowed in Mohammedan Kuwait? Sincerely I did not realize that there existed even this one…
Guy Macher says
Very, very surprised by this story. A Catholic mass in Kuwait????
Mark Spahn (West Seneca, NY) says
Yes, this is surprising. Moreover, “There is a sizable Christian community in Kuwait, approximately 750,000 adherents.” According to http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=population+of+kuwait&rawformassumption=%7B%22C%22,+%22kuwait%22%7D+-%3E+%7B%22Country%22%7D , the population of the country Kuwait is 3.02 million people. So the proportion Kuwaitis who are Christians is 0.75/3.02 = 25%. That’s a surprisingly different demography from that of the Arabian Peninsula (cf. the Founder’s opinion about kafir immigrants).
G Money says
Mark Spahn – your conclusion from the statistics given is not quite correct. It is true that 25% of people in Kuwait are Christian, but that does not mean 25% of KUWAITIS are Christian. Of the 3 million population of Kuwait, only approximately one million (about a third) are Kuwaiti. The rest are expatriates. The Christian population of 750,000 comes from these 2 million expatriates. There are about 150 Kuwaiti Christians, a miniscule 0.015% of Kuwaitis.
I lived and worked in Kuwait for almost 8 years and as a Westerner felt quite safe even when attending Catholic Mass regularly.

G. Money, I am sure your numbers of Christians and the demographic are correct. My question is the stupid left wing Pope is no where to be seen. Or heard from when his sheep are confronted by a Islamic nut ball!! Long story short, how long before here in the USA before we too face this . It will happen. I am sure the results will be awful. Islam, the plague of the 21st cent. NO DOUBT!

Muslims must have the highest incidence of psychiatric/mental issues as a religious group. It seems to be so prevalent that in almost all countries of the world where they have a presence and they are involved in any type of criminal offense, it is one of the first reasons cited by law enforcement and even family members to explain their aggressive behavior. Mmm…
david says
Yeah just another form of taqiyya
Steve says
All those poor mentally disturbed Muslims, stop inbreeding with your sisters and cousins and things will change for better!!
Jeanette says
Certain populations of Muslims commonly marry their cousins, so incest has damaged large percentages of some Muslim populations. For instance, supposedly 70% of Pakistani Muslims have some kind of genetic deformity (physical and/or mental).
However, I believe that the vast majority of Muslims have enough snap to back off if they were caught about to attack, and threatened with something they would find very unpleasant. (Notice that they don’t rape non-Muslim women in front of police stations.)
So mental deficiency does not excuse them for their savagery.
They are EVIL.

All large Western churches now need a designated member, someone with law enforcement or security training to sit near the church door armed to protect the congregation from Islamic terrorists. The terrorists can attack at any time.
Easter and Christmas services in large churches and cathedrals should arrange to have someone standing at the entrance watching for jihadists.
Jeanette says
In my part of the world (Texas) I would prefer that all church members who wish to carry a firearm be allowed to do so.
Let the armed members sit in pews that face the door, with a televised image of the pastor located right next to the door.

That is, in the ancient Church, what the porter (*ostiarius* in Latin – “bouncer” would be a closer equivalent) was ordained to do. The CC ought to revive the function, because it is very much needed. As recent events have proved.
The more these attacks by Muslims go on, the more it seems that we are, of necessity, having to slough off the Enlightenment, and return to something like the status quo when Islam was a threat to Christendom, and was seen to be one. Post-Enlightenment Liberalism is not a sufficient defence: Islam needs to be dealt with resolutely and unflinchingly. Being sweetly reasonable is not a sufficient reply to an enemy that wishes to destroy us and replace us with itself
Terry says
Like Voytek and Guy- above. I was surprised that there are Catholic and other religions (besides Islam) in Kuwait.
THE ONLY REASON WHY WOULD TEND TO AGREE- THE MAN HAS MENTAL ISSUES is the statement- that he was taken to a psychiatric hospital, where HE ALREADY HAS A FILE.
so, probably the man really is messed up mentally.

Banging their head on the carpet 5 times a day makes Mohammedan’s brain rattle in their skull. Hence we a see so many pisslims with mental health issues.

I thought a “dishdasha” was a traditional Kuwaiti kitchen appliance.

No, it’s the wife.

I see Kuwaiti officials immediately trot out the “mental health” excuse just like European, Australian and North American officials do.
G Money says
You are right in saying that “mental health” is all too often used as an excuse to hide the true motives of Muslims committing, or attempting to commit, violent or terrorist acts. However in this case I think it really is a case of psychiatric problems. The Kuwaiti had a history of such problems as indicated by the fact he already had a file at psychiatric hospital.
As a result of arranged marriages between cousins, there is probably a higher incidence of mental and other genetic illnesses among Kuwaitis compared to Western society. I cannot cite statistics to prove this, but I base this on having lived in Kuwait for almost eight years. Teachers I knew who worked there were frustrated by the fact that parents of Kuwaiti children who had learning disabilities often refused to admit there was such a problem. These parents were usually more conservative Muslims who practiced arranged marriages within their extended family, and this was most likely the cause of their child’s disability. A vicious circle.
Jeanette says
He had enough snap to pick a location other than a police station for his attack.
Mark A says
Simple answer. “No.” Read Sura 9, particularly Sura 9:29.

Let’s all spend some time shaking hands..
The attacker wanted to see the pope.
Well,I want to see the pope too…I have a very long list of complaints…scandal, nepotism(cronyism),the appaling modern mass, the disgraceful wealth of the Vatican, the heretical false teachings of francis that have been widely condemned…
