Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Media spins Dutch election as loss for Wilders, who is actually stronger than ever

Mar 16, 2017 1:12 pm By Robert Spencer

The establishment media is pushing not just propaganda, but fantasy.

“Geert Wilders and the Real Story of the Election:The patriotic revolution continues,” by Daniel Greenfield, FrontPage, March 16, 2017:

The Dutch Labor Party used to dominate Maastricht. The ancient city gave its name to the Maastricht Treaty that created the European Union. In this election, the Labor Party fell from a quarter of the vote to a twentieth.

Geert Wilders’ Freedom Party, which advocates withdrawing from the EU, is now the largest party in the birthplace of the European Union.

And the growing strength of the Freedom Party can be felt not only on the banks of the Maas River, but across the waterways of the Netherlands. A new wind of change has blown off the North Sea and ruffled feathers in Belgisch Park.

In The Hague, where Carnegie’s Peace Palace hosts the World Court while the humbler Noordeinde Palace houses King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, the internationalist institutions colliding with the nationalist ones, the United Nations rubbing up against the Dutch parliament and Supreme Court, the Freedom Party has become the second largest party despite the 15% Muslim population.

In Rotterdam, where Muslim rioters shouted, “Allahu Akbar” and anti-Semitic slurs and where Hamas front groups are organizing a conference, the Freedom Party is now the second largest political party. In that ancient city on the Rotte that had the first Muslim mayor of a major European city, Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb of the Labor Party who was being groomed for Prime Minister, estimates are that Labor fell from 32 percent to just 6 percent. That is strikingly similar to what took place in Maastricht.

But nearly half of Rotterdam is made up of immigrants. Muslims make up 13% of the population. But turnout hit 72% and after the Muslim riots, the Freedom Party only narrowly trails the ruling VVD.

The Freedom Party has become the largest party in Venlo while the Labor Party has all but vanished.

And that is the real story of the Dutch election.

The truly final results will only be known next week. But the current numbers show that the Freedom Party has become the second largest political party in Parliament having gained five seats while the Labor Party has disastrously lost 29 seats.

Labor hit a post-war low. The media is spinning this as Prime Minister Rutte’s defeat of Geert Wilders, but the Labor half of the Second Rutte Cabinet just went up in flames. VVD lost quite a few seats, but remains the largest party only because so much of the overall vote had dissipated. Rutte will now have to awkwardly build an unstable coalition out of four parties just to avoid dealing with Wilders.

It is quite possible though that Rutte will be trading the somewhat moderate Labor for GroenLinks which was formed out of, among others, the Communist Party of the Netherlands. When the media cheers that the “moderates” have defeated that terrible extremist, Geert Wilders, what they aren’t mentioning is that the alternative “moderate” coalitions may include the daughter party of the Communist Party.

The election was, in a sense, always rigged. The political system of the Netherlands fragments the vote and then puts it back together in government coalitions. The demonization of Wilders and the PVV was meant to ensure that even if his political party had won a majority, it would not have been allowed to form a government. And so Wilders won more by being in the second spot than by achieving the majority that some polls had predicted, while leaving the PVV unable to form a government.

Despite the attempts to kill it, smear it and destroy it, the Freedom Party continues to rise. And its enemies are being forced to respond to its ideas. The dangerous campaign by Turkey’s Islamist butcher, complete with threats and intimidation, helped Rutte salvage his government. But not his coalition.

The centrist politics that made Rutte’s government possible are imploding. The decline of Rutte’s VVD and Labor is an unmistakable rejection of the status quo. The gains in this election flowed to parties further out on the spectrum on the right and the left. The traditionally moderate Dutch are losing their patience. The polarization is eliminating the center and replacing it with some hard choices.

Geert Wilders and the PVV remain the embodiment of that choice.

Wilders had spoken of a “Patriotic Spring” sweeping the West. After the election, he said that the election results were a thing to be proud of. “The Patriotic Spring continues onward. And it has only begun.”

The media’s celebrations may also be badly misguided for another reason. In the wake of Brexit, the media largely forgot how it had mocked UKIP and Farage as failures. But a political party doesn’t always have to win elections to have an impact. Rigging the system against UKIP didn’t keep the UK in the EU. Instead it ultimately had the opposite effect. Keeping Wilders and the PVV down may backfire.

Geert Wilders has fundamentally changed the conversation about Islam and immigration. And the political parties of the Netherlands are increasingly reacting to him. Wilders took an election in a country whose political shifts are generally of little interest to those living outside it and made it a matter of international interest. His courage and common sense have made him into a world leader.

Wilders had the courage to defy the assassins and murderers, the politically correct scolds and the bleeding hearts, the pallid men and women who counsel moderation in all things and at all times, to tell the truth about Islam and Islamic migration. That is what he will go on doing even as he lives under threat. And his courage inspires opponents of the Jihad in the Netherlands and around the world.

This election was an erosion of faith in the establishment and a show of support for Wilders. To become Prime Minister Wilders, the PVV will either need a truly massive victory or a fundamental change in the political environment. Wilders understands this. He knows that the role of his party is to fight a failing establishment. Everything he does builds support and momentum for either of the two roads.

The media is cheering a defeat that never happened. And just as with Brexit, it may find that it had overlooked the seeds of its own destruction in the dirty politics of its own making.

“This patriotic revolution,” Geert Wilders said, “whether today or tomorrow, will take place anyway.”

    The New Math,

Rutte, “Before Wednesday I lead a party of 41. Now I lead a party of 33. So I won.”

Rutte on Wilders, “Before Wednesday he lead a party of 15. Now he leads a party of 20. Therefore he lost.”

    I’m so confused.

LOL! I am afraid my math is not what it used to be too. I tweeted 7% for Wilders is not bad! (OUCH). 13.3 % of course:)

Rutte lost badly because he needs to form a coalition of which 43 seats are from ‘enemy’ political parties. He can only govern by trusting his political ‘enemies’ to keep him in power. When they drop him, there’ll be another election.

In 2012, Wilders had an approval rating of 40% which would be a landslide victory in parliament.

    • mortimer says

      Mar 16, 2017 at 8:23 pm

In 2016, Wilders party was at a high of 40% in public approval. If an election had been held that day, they would have had a majority of the seats in parliament.

If Wilders can rise again in public support, he has a good chance of forming the next government. The Dutch are quite patriotic beneath their reserved exterior.

Wilders will just keep on stubbornly keeping on. And he learns, I think, as he goes.

How long has he been patiently hammering away?

How long has he now been living under the perpetual threat of the sharia assassin?

How many seats did he *start* with, way back when?

How many did he get, the *first* time the PVV threw its hat in the ring?

As opposed to 20 seats today?

How many fake news reports, news reports distorted to satisfy the Leftist extremist ideology, must we see?
Some uninformed Americans and also in Europe, are only receiving the filtered distortions of the actual news they never got. This is not engineered by unwary news reporters, the distorting happens mostly farther up on the news chain, with the editors who rewrite the news to favor their own ideologies which are far closer to Communism than to democracy.
This is what is put to the consumer at his/her peril to believe.
Every bit of news, whether in Europe or North America is “processed” by people who “modify” reports.
This causes near impossibility to believe what is reported in all except news sources that have proved to be absolutely truthful in journalism, an art that has taken a beating in the hands of a 90% corrupt news media who work and scheme against reporting truth.

Media spins Dutch election as loss for Wilders, who is actually stronger than ever

Ha ha, right? He knew from the get go that no party would ally with him to form a government, won 5 seats while Rutte lost 8, brought the issue of islam to the table and proved a non-insignificant number of Dutch people share his worries, but somehow Rutte is being paraded around as the victor. This is, in my reading of it, the best possible scenario for Wilders – he’s in a strong position to play opposition, fine-tune his arguments and tactics, and try again in the next elections.

    • DFD says

      Mar 16, 2017 at 7:26 pm

      Angemon,

Agreed. Still, not to get the 29 seats, instead having to make do with 19 or 20 – I’d rather have him with the 29 seats, or **more** even.

Labor, practically wiped, good. But instead the commies are in, and in conjunction with the greens (anarchists and internationalists). It’s like a mixture of hydra and medusa…

The good news is, of course, that he doesn’t quit!
      ======================================.

The worrying part is, and that’s for all of Europe, as you said: “…and try again in the next elections.”

I don’t think that we, Europeans that is, have that much time. Though, by God, I hope I am wrong.

Common sense says that Wilders should have won by over 80%, same for Trump and Le Pen. Any nation with common sense would vote for its patriots, not enemies. This is called common sense as it doesn’t require high intelligence to figure out.

This is my message to those in the West who still care about the Western civilisation.

I am a former Muslim and have been watching the demise of the west for over 20 years and doing
my tiny bit to help stopping it – to no avail. All I can see is an accelerating fall, more so now than 20 years ago. I stand with the West not because I am fond with it but because I am fully aware of the danger of Islam to humanity as a whole. In fact I am not fond with the West as it is today although I was 30 or 40 years ago. The West of today looks increasingly similar to the backward country I came from, largely gave up its freedom and civilisation in favour for barbaric sharia culture.

I don’t even think the West today as civilised as it once was, a culture that and was hoping that the West will stand up and stop the spread of that t.(because I am not, even though I am fond with west as it was 30 or 40 years ago) but because I don’t like Islam. I am fully aware of the danger of Islam to humanity and was hoping that the West will stand up and stop the spread of that backward culture. The West failed to do any of that.

Your democracy is fake; you cannot have true democracy without freedom of speech and unbiased media. The Western democracy is nothing more than dictatorship In the clothes of democracy. In fact it can be easier to deal with open dictatorship than with one disguised as democracy.

Trump won the elections by a small margin, it was a one off miracle as the media will not allow it to happen again. Geert Wilders lost the elections because of the media. The Muslim population in the Nederland is still a small minority but have more say than the majority. Thanks to the MSM, the bulk of the people vote against their own interests. In London, the Muslim minority had more influence than the majority, who just followed as sheep and voted Khan as mayor.
In the last 20 years, the Muslims’ contribution to the West was mainly terrorism and demands for the implementation of a backward sharia law. There are other minorities in the West like Asians and Chinese but somehow only the Muslims who happen to occupy top offices in government. Look at how many Muslims (compared with other minorities) are mayors or in city councils. It is as if the West falls in love particularly with those who kill them and seek their demise.

All the above is so obvious but ignored thanks to the MSM. I am afraid unless something SERIOUS is done about it, the fate of the Western civilisation is sealed.

I largely agree with Robert Spencers’ analysis.

As a Dutchman who followed the elections closely (& voted Wilders) it is my opinion Wilders put up a tremendous fight and put them in a corner. Wilders did win, not only on %, but also on arguments.

All important players were forced to at least acknowledge there is problem with Islam. Groen Links ( Jesse Klaver) did not wake up, but then of course, Dutch pot is world famous:)

Karl Rove said what I’ve been saying for years. If the peoples’ psyche is upbeat and they sense a feeling of optimism the country has swagger and performs. Bad headlines don’t do that. In this case the vox populi is buying into Trump and his favorably interpreted message. The voters fervor will destroy the Democrats. Not weapons and not prosecutions. It’s the people. They don’t have a clue how powerful they are. In the wrong hands, we can see what it does. When Obama was president they laid down and died. Trump’s resurrecting a lot of the comatose, the dead and the despondent. They are the Democrats’ ideology’s greatest enemy. Employment and prosperity will do that to and for you.

It is a loss. Increase in the number of seats, though very good, will not change the politics. The main problem is the demographic one. Moslems, as it stands now, have time on their side. By the time, the next election come, there will be more moslems, more sharia and more moslem politicians. It was a chance and it was lost. Netherland is the country where all the problems of Europe concentrated in a relatively small place. It is the country where historically freedom had been valued more then in the rest of Europe. The country which fought for freedom and won. “I don’t even think the West today as civilised as it once was…” I aggree with that statement. Last year I went through Spain, England and Greece. I was surprised how little people care about islamic invasion. This year I go to Netherland, Austria and Germany and then it is goodbye to Europe.

You have to factor in the substantial Muslim electorate, the “welcome refugees” propaganda and the whole “Islamophobia” fraud.

It is a race between the forces of reason and those of deceit. Reason must succeed before it is drowned by demographics.

  14. Matthieu Baudin says

    Mar 16, 2017 at 9:58 pm

The earlier poll indicators from weeks ago had Geert’s Party well ahead of the final election tally. Polls go up and down particularly for (largely) single cause political groups. Gaining four extra seats is an outcome that smaller emergent parties are generally more than pleased to obtain. The overall move in this election away from the more PC dominated Dutch Labour Party, now reduced to a skeleton; and away from the dominant right of centre party of the Prime Minister, about 25% down from the last election; shows a mood for change, largely in the direction of smaller conservative parties. The issue of EU membership, and the public’s cautious approach to an exit, may well have steered the results in this direction. Perhaps a promise to radically renegotiate The Netherlands membership of the EU rather than a straightforward ‘Brexit’ style proposal, may have brought out an even larger swing towards the Freedom Party. In any case, in sum it was a solid performance and a successful result.

Wilders may have “done well” as you put it Craig, but the clock is ticking past midnight. As I see it, the longer the wait for real change, the higher the risk of a violent change. Another chance has been missed and I for one am deeply grieving for Europe’s future.

Europe.. extremely slow to wake up. At least 60% or more of the western block of Europe needs to have major disruption to each family’s lifestyles before they event contemplate voting for change. Europe has a long road ahead of it to reach that path if it ever does. Maybe the predictors of the population change videos on You Tube that cite “Muslim Population” growth are correct and in 100 years th whole world will be submitting to Islam. At least Europe, anyway. A very sad day indeed that Geert Wilders lost.
