Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Libya: African migrants sold as slaves in slave markets

Apr 13, 2017 1:37 pm By Robert Spencer

Does this have anything to do with Islam? Why, certainly. We constantly hear in the West that Islam forbids slavery. Reality is otherwise.

The Qur’an has Allah telling Muhammad that he has given him girls as sex slaves: “Prophet, We have made lawful to you the wives to whom you have granted dowries and the slave girls whom God has given you as booty.” (Qur’an 33:50)

Muhammad bought slaves: “Jabir (Allah be pleased with him) reported: There came a slave and pledged allegiance to Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) on migration; he (the Holy Prophet) did not know that he was a slave. Then there came his master and demanded him back, whereupon Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: Sell him to me. And he bought him for two black slaves, and he did not afterwards take allegiance from anyone until he had asked him whether he was a slave (or a free man).” (Muslim 3901)

Muhammad took female Infidel captives as slaves: “Narrated Anas: The Prophet offered the Fajr Prayer near Khaibar when it was still dark and then said, ‘Allahu-Akbar! Khaibar is destroyed, for whenever we approach a (hostile) nation (to fight), then evil will be the morning for those who have been warned.’ Then the inhabitants of Khaibar came out running on the roads. The Prophet had their warriors killed, their offspring and woman taken as captives. Safiya was amongst the captives. She first came in the share of Dahya Alkali but later on she belonged to the Prophet. The Prophet made her manumission as her ‘Mahr.’” (Bukhari 5.59.512) Mahr is bride price: Muhammad freed her and married her. But he didn’t do this to all his slaves:

Muhammad owned slaves: “Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah’s Apostle was on a journey and he had a black slave called Anjasha, and he was driving the camels (very fast, and there were women riding on those camels). Allah’s Apostle said, ‘Waihaka (May Allah be merciful to you), O Anjasha! Drive slowly (the camels) with the glass vessels (women)!’” (Bukhari 8.73.182) There is no mention of Muhammad’s freeing Anjasha.

“African migrants sold in Libya ‘slave markets’, IOM says,” BBC, April 11, 2017:

Africans trying to reach Europe are being sold by their captors in “slave markets” in Libya, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) says.

Victims told IOM that after being detained by people smugglers or militia groups, they were taken to town squares or car parks to be sold.

Migrants with skills like painting or tiling would fetch higher prices, the head of the IOM in Libya told the BBC.

Libya has been in chaos since the 2011 Nato-backed ousting of Muammar Gaddafi.

Hundreds of young sub-Saharan African men have been caught up in the so-called slave markets, according to the IOM report.

A Senegalese migrant, who was not named to protect his identity, said that he had been sold at one such market in the southern Libyan city of Sabha, before being taken to a makeshift prison where more than 100 migrants were being held hostage.

He said that migrants held at the facility were told to call their families, who would be asked for money to pay for their release, and some were beaten while on the phone to allow relatives to hear them being tortured.

He described “dreadful” conditions where migrants were forced to survive on limited food supplies, with those unable to pay either killed or left to starve, the report adds.

Another witness, who was able to raise the funds needed for his release after nine months, was later taken to hospital with severe malnutrition, weighing just 5.5 stone (35 kg).

Women, too, were bought by private Libyan clients and brought to homes where they were forced to be sex slaves, the witness said.

The IOM’s chief of mission for Libya, Othman Belbeisi, told the BBC that those sold into slavery found themselves priced according to their abilities.

“Apparently they don’t have money and their families cannot pay the ransom, so they are being sold to get at least a minimum benefit from that,” he said.

“The price is definitely different depending on your qualifications, for example if you can do painting or tiles or some specialised work then the price gets higher.”…

Muslims are not INSANE… IT’S THE IDEOLOGY. We saw similar behavior in the Nazi soldier who without much emotion committed atrocities when commanded to do so. Modern scholarship has found in personal notes of German soldiers and their officers many comments that indicate the Wehrmacht was involved in crime against humanity. Same thing in ISLAMIC HISTORY: ORDINARY MUSLIMS committed atrocities under orders to do so and felt they were doing the will of ALLAH.

I would say that ISLAMIC IDEOLOGY works on the conscience to create AMORALITY (the end justifies the means).

I repeat (lightheartedly): “IT’S THE IDEOLOGY, STUPID!” 😉

Nothing new about black Africans being sold in Libyan slave markets. Arab Libyans have been selling them for more than a thousand years.

Back in the ’70s I was shown around the old slave market building in Ajdabiyah. (redundant at the time ). The iron rings to which the slaves were chained were still in situ in the building’s walls.

True, Charli–and black Africans from the southern part of the country have been enslaved in Sudan for the past several decades. This is the reason that South Sudan broke away from Sudan a few years ago.

Well said, MICHAEL! Today’s black slaves in Muslim lands get little publicity. However, dedicated anti-slavers are STILL working hard to find and free slaves in MUSLIM COUNTRIES!

Islam STILL endorses slavery and will never apologize for the murders of 120 million black Africans during the 1400-year Islamic slave trade.

This is the largest RACIAL GENOCIDE in history!

        • maghan says

          Apr 15, 2017 at 5:08 am

That 120 million number is a vast exaggeration. The Arabian peninsula was a vast empty land of primitive Arab sand trekkers with camels, goats and enslaved females. Why would these primitives with their flimsy tents need so many slaves?

Even if you travel further North to Iraq where some Africans were enslaved the numbers were small.

The biggest slave catchers were the Turks who ravaged Eastern Europe for slaves(the word derives from “Slav”) who were mainly females. They were used principally as breeders in the Turkish slave harems.

In East Africa, there was slavery on the East African islands of Zanzibar and Pemba–but not in the millions.

The presence of blacks in the Arabian Peninsula and further North does not mean that they are descendants of slaves–given the weak agricultural bases of West Asia at that time. Black Arab author Al-Jahiz(766 AD-868AD) offers some insights.

Michael – good on you, mate!!

Spread the word. Particularly, spread the word about 1200 years of Mohammedan mass=murdering, pillaging and slave raiding in Africa. The nastiest thing about it, the truly horrible thing, was the seizure and gelding of boys, to be become eunuchs in the harems. Black boys were seized and then all external genitalia were slashed off, sans anaesthetics or antibiotics. One estimate is that *nine out of ten* boys thus treated.. perished. Yet the price commanded by those who survived – imagine the PTSD, imagine the trauma, for the rest of their lives they would be ‘dead people walking’, soul-destroyed – was so high that the Muslims deemed it worth doing. There were black eunuchs in the harems of Constantinople as late as the *1920s*.

The inspiration and model for blacks should be Ethiopia (anciently, Abyssinia). They became a Christian nation *very* early on; and there on their natural fortress, a well-watered plateau, they *fought* like lions to remain un-Islamised. Nubia – a Christian kingdom until the 16th century – fared less well, and was overwhelmed. Possibly they had a less defensible territory.

Do you know the life story of Saint Josephina Bakhita, of Darfur? She was seized and enslaved by Arab Muslim slave raiders, circa 1870s. Long story, but after years of abuse at the hands of sadistic Muslim masters and mistresses, she was bought, and then ultimately freed, by an Italian diplomat, and finished up as a convert to Christianity, in a convent in Italy, where she was universally beloved.

Her story needs to be a LOT better known amongst blacks in America. It reveals, in little, something of what it was to be a black slave of Muslims. It exposes the reality of the Muslim predation upon black AFricans.

          Apr 15, 2017 at 5:53 am

Ethiopia is now 50% Muslim. Recall too that all of North Africa was Christian until the Arab invasions, first into Egypt then Westwards all the way into Spain.

Names like St. Augustine one of the early Christian theologians are probably slandered as “infidel” in places like Algeria today.

Very noteworthy that the Spaniards were able to expel the invaders after 700 long years and closed all the mosques. The Arab Muslim ideologues still pine for Al-Andalus though.

Dharmic population must wake up and unite. Slavery is savage and barbaric. Within every living entity is Atman/Paramatman. We must be vigilant at all times and make sure nobody is ever enslaved. One day Dharmic world will produce a leader capable of freeing the world from shackles of kosher-chrislamic slavery. Dharma Manifesto is an interesting book.

This actually started with the founder and prophet of Islam, Muhammad . Who all Muslims look to as an example of how to behave. It’s revealed in the book JESUS AND THE JIHADIS: CONFRONTING THE RAGE OF ISIS by the Christian authors Graig A. Evans and Jeremiah J. Johnson For on page 124 it informs the reader about Muhammad that that he “Mohammad endorsed enslavement of all types: he personally owned two ”Black slaves… ” he endorsed sex-slavery as a gift from Allah, and enjoyed offering sex-slaves as gifts…” Further on the very next page it also exposes that “Islam has enslaved more people than any other culture.”

It was an idiot move, in my opinion, to get rid of Qudhafi and for the United States’ participation in that. It seems to me that those radical imams who had Obama’s ears were angry with Qudhafi because he had parted ways with them encouraged Obama to do so and that Mrs. Clinton as Secretary of State had an obsession to kill as many “Arabs” as possible which ended up happening. There was no Islamic straitjacket under Qudafi and no drug and slave trade. I know he had faults , talked funny and shmoozed with shady characters. Looking at Syria, we see now how careful a country has to be, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, when it allies itself to closely with Russia. It was an out and out crime on the part Obama administration to equate Saddam Hussein who was a sadistic cold-blooded killer to Qudhafi.

So tired of hearing them blame the white man and colonialism and white man’s racism for all their problems. Look at what they are doing to each other and this is nothing new either. This has been going on for more than sixty years now. And white man has poured billions and billions of dollars of aid money into Africa and what has improved?

It’s population has tripled, famine has spread, war has spread, corruption has spread, aids has spread, ebola has spread, jihad has spread harmful, superstitious, voodooistic, unhygienic, religious practices that have interfered with people getting proper medical care and costing many lives. Poachers are killing off precious wildlife for foreign money and they don’t care.

Leave them to annihilate themselves, Africa seems to be determined to be a lost cause.

Geopolitics is run on the principles of Real Politik—not altruistic morality. Hence the so-called aid to Africa is much less than what is siphoned out. The population of Africa is now 1.1 billion which would mean that the AIDS thing was/is mostly hoax. Famine strikes mainly in war zones where Islam is at war–Somalia, North East Nigeria, etc. The conflict in South Sudan is mainly ethnic where a very stupid war is fought between Nuer and Dinka.

Indeed, reality is different in the matter of the Islamic slave trade. I have even read Muslims who claimed ISLAM DESTROYED SLAVERY… a preposterous, unhistorical claim… a preposterous, intentional falsehood… straight taqiyya. In fact, Islam held onto slavery tooth and nail and slavery was practiced in Saudi Arabia openly into the 1960s. Slavery is practiced in a number of Muslim countries today in secret and also in disguise, e.g. foreign workers are not paid for their work and are then shipped back home without their salaries. A hadith says the end of the world will be announced by the son of a slave. There is slavery in the Islamic paradise. SLAVERY AND ISLAM ARE ONE.

Facts are facts so respect them. The enslaved in the Americas were mainly war prisoners bartered off for petty trade goods, cannon and muskets. See “A Slaver’s Log–20 Years of Slaving on the West African Coast” by Theo Conaut–himself a slaver. Some, of course, were kidnapped.

Most opposition to slavery in the Americas came from the enslaved themselves. The frequent slave uprisings support that fact. The cases of Zumbi of Palmares, Brazil and Toussaint of Haiti are noteworthy. Zumbi fought against the Portuguese slavers and set up a “free area” for escaped slaves in his quilombos in Brazil. This free area, the size of Portugal lasted from 1627 to 1694.
A number of Brazilian slaves were shipped back to Africa after a number of revolts that were causing much financial losses.

In Haiti, the slave revolt commonly known as the “Haitian Revolution’ came to a close in 1804 with the majority of the slavers killed. In the U.S., the Nat Turner and Denmark Vesey rebellions are known by historians.

Under such conditions the political work of William Wilberforce and Thomas Clarkson inspired by their Christian beliefs bore fruit. Olaudah Equiano, a kidnapped person taken into slavery eventually landed in England and campaigned against the slave trade. The British abolished slavery in 1834 after outlawing the trade in 1806.

Facts: slavery in Europe lasted 1,500 years from the Greeks and Romans up to the dawn of Serfdom–a form of slavery where the feudal landlord owned BOTH the land and the serfs(from the Latin “servus” meaning slave). The Romans preferred British slaves from their conquered territories because the slave Britons were “docile and slow-witted”.

Serfdom in Europe lasted till 1865 when Peter the Great of Russia freed the serfs. Recall that “free the serfs” was the call that led up to the French Revolution–with its “freedom, liberty and equality”.

Point is that slavery was the norm for all societies until machines replaced human labor.

Many of the Islam apologist sites I’ve visited explain Islam’s rather dual position on slavery this way; yes, the Koran permits slavery, and yes, the Prophet had many slave women, but he also spoke out against slavery, and the long term intention was that the institution would slowly die out over time. (I don’t believe this last statement is explicit in the Koran, but I could be wrong. My impression is that it’s an extension of thought.) So, the Koran expresses support both for, and against slavery.

Obviously a complex viewpoint is needed to reconcile all the threads of conflicting scripture and history. My impression of apologists is that their priority is always to provide cover for the past, and whitewash for the present. Even CNN, in the past, has had a staff ‘Islamic expert’ weigh in with this identical argument of slavery slowing dying out over time – hopefully.

Slavery sadly still exists all around the world, sometimes in forms we don’t expect. Sad that the ‘slow dying out of slavery’ is still ongoing in parts of the Islamic world, and toleration extended to it, and even approval.

Where did Muhammad argue against slavery? Very doubtful he did because ISIS enslaves at will as in the case of the Yazidi people.

In Mauritania, those who oppose slavery have been jailed on the grounds that to oppose slavery is to oppose Islam.

hmmm where’s the outrage from “black lives matter- and slavery?” hmmm? Oh that’s right- black on black- murders don’t matter… so why should these others matter either, right!?
“Hypocrites” is all I have to say about that false pile of BS group, just plain hypocrites. If u want to make a difference then start with real issues and as far as the other BS, educate u’rself in positive ways, maybe in the legal system etc to make real change for the greater good of all people. There’s a start….

Does humanity have to relive all the evils of the past, just to remain PC with Moslem apes?
