Missouri School of Journalism prof: NRA more dangerous than the Islamic State

How asinine is American academia today? It just keeps getting worse. What expanse of territory does the NRA control? How many people has the NRA beheaded and brutalized there? What calls has the NRA issued to its followers and other sympathetic people to murder civilians in the U.S. and other countries? Where are the sex slaves that the NRA has captured from among feminist gun control advocates?

A blinkered Leftist propagandist such as George Kennedy should not be allowed anywhere near a university classroom. Instead, however, the Missouri School of Journalism will probably bring him back and make him head of the department.

Missouri School of Journalism professor emeritus George Kennedy suggests the National Rifle Association (NRA) is more dangerous than Islamic State.

Writing in the Missourian, Kennedy observed:

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is a terrorist organization founded in 1999, headquartered in Syria and feared around the world. The NRA was founded in 1891, headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, and is feared by politicians across America.

To be fair, the NRA was actually founded in 1871, but Kennedy continued:

What makes the Islamic State so feared it its willingness to kill in pursuit of its goal of creating a fundamentalist caliphate.

What makes the NRA so feared is its willingness to spend heavily and campaign aggressively in pursuit of its goal of removing all restrictions on the possession and use of firearms just about anywhere by just about anyone.

Notice how Kennedy went from incorrect information–the wrong founding date for the NRA–to unsubstantiated claims that the NRA wants to allow “possession and use of firearms just about anywhere by just about anyone.” In reality, the NRA fights for the enforcement of the law and the prosecution of firearm-wielding criminals with a fervor equaled only by its defense of law-abiding citizens’ right to keep and bear arms. Kennedy’s language muddies the water and misses the point.

Kennedy then claims the number of Americans killed by ISIS jihadists since 9/11 is nine. That is not a typo, he actually links to a Euronews source and claims only nine Americans have been killed by ISIS jihadists since the terror attacks on NYC in 2001.

Where were Kennedy and the Euronews when an attacker claiming allegiance to ISIS attacked Orlando Pulse and killed 49 people on June 12, 2016? That gunman literally used a 911 call to announce his allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. And the Orlando Pulse attack is not the only one that could be mentioned to disprove Kennedy and his Euronews source.

Kennedy’s purpose is claiming “only nine” Americans killed by terrorists was really to set up his second point, that “11,737 Americans” are murdered each year with guns. This figure is actually close to the truth. The average number of firearm-related homicides hovers around 10,500 to 11,500 annually. Many of these homicides occur in gang-riddled cities like Chicago and Baltimore. For example, there were nearly 800 homicides in Chicago in 2016 and over 300 in Baltimore. So a tenth of our nation’s homicides occurred in two Democrat-controlled cities, both of which look to gun control as the solution for the failure of gun control….

  1. Saw an article today at the American Thinker site where the President of Venezuela has been handing out AK-47’s to his political supporters.

    If things progress the same here, as in Europe etc. I could see Soros arming such folks as BLM, CAIR, LA Raza, and so on.

    According to the article he now has over 150,000 red militia besides the military to call on.

    As a Life Time member of the NRA, I say war is coming and when it does you had better have a good handgun, shotgun, and AR-15/10

      • Radical Leftist groups and Muslim Brotherhood radicals are training now within the USA. These Militants have lost their assumption of most all law abiding citizens being unarmed where all their attacks on innocents were like shooting fish in a barrel. This is due to the legalization of citizens without a felony conviction being able to a firearm concealed without permit in many states such as Missouri.. Today there is no longer the presumption of being the only one armed and no one to stop the perpetration of a crime. Far to many Good Guys With a Gun to stop such perpetrator, increasing the odds against a criminal act being successful..

    I’m still waiting for the reason the NRA needs to be feared. The NRA fight for our right to protect ourselves. Hundreds of thousands of crimes are stopped by gun owners every year but we don’t hear about it because of people like this idiot. People who think if we got rid of weapons we will all hold hands and skip through flower fields as friends.
    Let me put it like this. If guns were illegal only criminals would have them. And even if criminals couldn’t get them they’d still be violent. That shooter in Florida, if it wasn’t a gun it would have been a knife. If not a knife then a rock. If not a rock then a slow cooker bomb. Weapons don’t create death, death creates weapons

    • Been posted before. When Britain partitioned India into India and Pakistan, and guns were ( for all intents and purposes-outlawed) Hindus and Muslims still MANAGED TO KILL OVER A MILLION PEOPLE- with rocks; tree limbs; etc.

      • In actual fact they divided it into Muslim based W Pakistan and E Pakistan, against the advice of the then Viceroy Mountbatten, the UK government caving in (as usual) to pressure from Muslim leader Jinnah. I believe Ghandi was against it as well. However the resulting slaughter was
        the result of the fraught situation when. Muslims had to give up their homes and businesses
        and move to the Muslim states and the Indians vice versa. The Muslims had an opportunity to show their peace and love, though I think they were not solely to blame. As a result we now have those model Muslim states Pakistan and Bangladesh which we know and love (sarcasm) which are in fact dystopian societies which have undergone constant political turmoil ever since, including assassinations of political leaders and military governments

        • BC- I was aware that it was East & West Pakistan, but as best I recall- they were basically one country, until there was a revolt in one of them- which is what became Bangladesh.

          When that war was going on, I remember (I was perhaps somewhere between 11 and 13 or so) where there was an item in the newspapers that X (I forgot the number) of girls/young women, were murdered, BECAUSE THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE STILL BEEN VIRGINS.

          (Some were -as best I recall- claiming that they had been raped; others that they were virgins, but they were killed, anyhow).

          I asked my parents about this-and the answer was-to Muslims, if the woman is not a virgin, (when getting married) should be killed. Archaic, and against civilized people.

          I did not understand that reasoning then, and still do not. But, Muslims are not fit for civilization, in my view

    And, in Chicago, one of the killers was a convicted felon, released from prison, and had a gun that (if I remember correctly) he bought form another felon.

    In the Sandy Hook case ( I agree, a tragedy)- both the killer and his mother- which is whom he came to kill- were life long liberal Democrats.

  12. My son who served 2 tours Afghanistan once told me: The Japanese General I think his name was Tohodo? part of the deal was once the peace treaty is signed both sides need to cooperate. He was asked why he did not attack the US(troops that is) he said the is a gun in every house hold in the states! M

  14. College education should not make one stupid but that is exactly what is going on today with college education. I know. I taught at the college level for almost thirty years and some of the stupidest people I have ever met in my life were many fellow faculty members, virtually all of whom had a PhD (though I coined my own acronym to characterize them, i.e., DWD, which stands for Dodo With a Doctorate).

    Here are two examples of so many I could provide. One of my fellow faculty members when I mentioned at a board meeting that students didn’t even know the difference between the Persian War and Peloponnesian War, replied, “Why does that matter?” Second example: When I attempted to explain to an English literature professor that students could not distinguish between the Early Republican period of ancient Rome from its Middle Republican and Late Republican periods, she responded with, “It is not our job to fill students’ heads with facts.”

    I am now retired and glad to be so. Unless one has actually functioned in higher education (now sadly really lower education) or has been exposed to it by regular contact with it in one way or another, it really is quite difficult to fully comprehend just how far things have gone awry, as with the example provided in this article by Robert Spencer.

    In short, as bad as you think college education has become in America, it’s almost certainly even worse than you realize. Fools and cowards, some downright malevolent people too, now run almost all colleges and universities in America, which places, no coincidence, are where freedom and common sense least exist across the American landscape.

    • Suspect that its not much better in Britain. A survey, some years back, by National Geographic found that 1 in 5 British kids could not find Britain on a map.

      Watching a recent TV quiz show, a teenager stated that he had never heard of the Battle of Britain while another couldn’t name the capital of Britain.

  15. This guy is a lying fool. The NRA doesn’t advocate for *everyone* having a weapon. And “politicians” across the country are not living in fear of the NRA. Some even *belong* don’t they? If they don’t belong, they at the very least, own guns and go hunting.

    When walking about the streets of America, one has more to fear from a moslim than from a member of the NRA, as members are not taught every Friday to find a suitable infidel and commit murder for satan.
    The NRA doesn’t post on their website, videos of people being slaughtered in the name of …anything.

    If the school allows this guy to go on *teaching*…they are making all of his students *victims.* Victims of lies.

I’m very OFFENDED that those who know NOTHING ABOUT ISLAMIC HISTORY or the HISTORY OF JIHAD feel free to INSULT OUR INTELLIGENCE by using the authority of their degree to WALK OVER THE FACTS OF JIHAD and its extreme danger to Western people.

  23. POLITICAL AND MOST ACADEMIC ELITES ARE BIRD OF A FEATHER. The latter prostitutes their intellect and social authority to the former.. Purely as an example; Can anybody hazard a guess why in a country like mine (Kenya), we have thousands of top notch lawyers yet the whole country is headed directly to a constitutional crises emanating from faulty constitutional provisions requiring that parliamentary composition must not exceed 2/3 of either gender. The provisions have proved impossible to legally implement without causing a seismic political upheaval. Yet ABSOLUTELY NO ONE INCLUDING THE MEDIA, wants to discus the issue. I personally have tried to discus with the IEBC (independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission) which is the body that oversees elections and they too have no answer. While the Wests problem with Islam is certain to ripen in a few years from now, Our problem will most definitely explode anytime after August 8th 2017 (date of elections). I JUST CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHY NO CITIZEN IS NOT VOCAL ABOUT DESPITE OUR COUNTRY BEING FAIRLY DEMOCRATIC AND OPEN. BTW This is one of those problems that the Barack Obama brought on us- the U.S bore untold pressure on the the president to embrace changing the constitution and also funded the civil society with millions of dollars to agitate for change.   24. This so-called “professor emeritus” of journalism proves once again that it is not only Muslims who are incapable of critical thinking. The NRA supports the right of citizens to own guns; it does not tell gun owners to go out and shoot all those who do not own a gun. I personally do not like guns but the NRA is not responsible for what people do with guns. Islam, however, does exhort Muslims to go out and subjugate or kill all non-believers. If this person represents journalism in the US how can anyone have any confidence in the mainstream media?

    should a foolish leftist become president of the United States. Seeing how a lot of foolish leftists are in charge of Europe and Europeans do not have the right to bear arms. I mistrust most governments. I’ll trust the NRA before the US government and the UN.
