In this excellent piece, George Neumayr refers to the rupture of relations between the Vatican and al-Azhar that took place during the time of Pope Benedict. As I explained here, that rupture took place because Pope Benedict dared to speak out about the Muslim persecution of Christians. By contrast, Francis energetically defends Islam, and leaves the persecuted Christians twisting in the wind, so he is acceptable to al-Azhar.
The worst part about this is the fact that because this man is Pope, all too many Catholics, including some in positions of high authority, treat him as if he were a divine oracle, his every utterance to be revered, respected, studied, and followed. Because of the statement of Vatican II that “religious submission of mind and will must be shown in a special way to the authentic magisterium of the Roman Pontiff, even when he is not speaking ex cathedra,” and “must be shown in such a way that his supreme magisterium is acknowledged with reverence, the judgments made by him are sincerely adhered to, according to his manifest mind and will,” Catholic leaders and publications tend to think that they must adhere to anything the Pope says about anything.
This leads them into impossible positions. When Pope Benedict XVI appeared to criticize the aspects of Islam that incite and justify violence, they allowed for criticism of Islam. When Francis showed himself to be an Islamic apologist, they became Islamic apologists. All too many Catholic leaders and institutions, in other words, are more interested in being papists than in being truthful. They would rather show loyalty to the Pope, no matter how damaging his utterances, than stand for the truth on the own against the Pope.
The contradiction is clear, and absolute. If the Catholic Church has become one of Islam’s loudest boosters, then those who are aware of the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat, rooted in Islamic texts and teachings, have to make some hard decisions about where they stand.
“Leave them; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” (Matthew 15:14)
“The Papal Propagandist for Islam Heads to Egypt,” by George Neumayr, American Spectator, April 26, 2017 (thanks to Lookmann):
As the prototypical progressive Jesuit, Pope Francis prides himself on his “ecumenism.” He oozes enthusiasm for every religion except his own. At the top of his list of favorite religions is the Church’s fiercest adversary — Islam.
He often sounds more like a spokesman for CAIR than a Catholic pope. After jihadists cut off the head of a French priest in July 2016 — yelling “Allahu Akbar” over the priest’s slit throat — Pope Francis rushed to the defense of Islam. “I don’t like to talk about Islamic violence, because every day, when I read the newspaper, I see violence,” he said, before ludicrously blaming the rise of terrorism on the “idolatry” of free-market economics: “As long as the god of money is at the center of the global economy and not the human person, man and woman, this is the first terrorism.”
As Europe turns into Eurabia, Pope Francis is picking up honors and awards from progressives, including, hilariously, the 2016 “Charlemagne Prize” for his Islamic apologetics. It is hard to imagine a Christian leader less like Charlemagne. Pope Francis is energized not depressed by the disappearance of Christian Europe. “States must be secular,” he told La Croix. Christian states, he said, “end badly” and go “against the grain of history.” He added that “when I hear talk of the Christian roots of Europe, I sometimes dread the tone, which can seem triumphalist or even vengeful.” It also takes on “colonialist overtones,” he complained.
The most liberal pope ever, of course, sees no irony in shilling for the most illiberal religion on Earth. On his anti-colonialist scorecard, Islam wears the white hats and Christian Europe, the black ones. After jihadists gunned down ten journalists at the offices of Charlie Hebdo, Pope Francis rushed to Islam’s defense again, in effect rebuking the dead journalists for incitement: “You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others.” Those who do, he continued, should “expect a punch.”
This week Pope Francis takes his pro-Islamic apology tour to Egypt. Previewing the trip, which starts on Friday, he said he seeks to “offer a valid contribution to inter-religious dialogue with the Islamic world.” Francis’s fawning media courtiers are already rolling out the propaganda for it, predicting that it will “build bridges to moderate Islam.”
“A main reason for the trip is to try to strengthen relations with the 1,000-year-old Azhar center that were cut by the Muslim side in 2011 over what it said were repeated insults of Islam by Francis’s predecessor, Pope Benedict,” according to Reuters. “Ties with the center were restored last year after [Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb] visited the Vatican. Tayeb, widely seen as one of the most moderate senior clerics in Egypt, has repeatedly condemned Islamic State and its practice of declaring others as apostates and infidels as a pretext for waging violent jihad.”
Being “one of the most moderate senior clerics in Egypt” is about as meaningful a distinction as being one of the most chaste Kardashian sisters. Useful idiots in the West call Tayeb moderate, but anyone paying attention knows that he is not, unless calling for the killing of apostates now counts as “moderate.”…
Past popes regarded Islam as a font of poisonous heresies. Dante placed Muhammad in hell. St. Thomas Aquinas said Muhammad peddled “fables and doctrines of the greatest falsity” and sardonically remarked upon the perverse basis for his claim of divine favor: “Muhammad said that he was sent in the power of his arms — which are signs not lacking even to robbers and tyrants.”What has changed? Nothing. Islam remains as violent as it started. But one thing is new: The Catholic Church, under the death-wish progressivism of Francis, has become one of Islam’s loudest boosters.

Also as a Roman Catholic I could not agree with you more, this is the worst Pope in centuries, there have been bad in the past too. He is as you say a progressive first and not to sure where the Church fits at all with him, With all of the resources the Vatican has huge, historic library this man still ha not a clue about Islam. Does not seem to know or care one of the main targets of Islam is his death and the occupation of Rome.

Francis is neither a true Pope, a true Catholic or a true Jesuit. The infiltration of the visible Church and its hierarchy was completed more than a few decades ago by the satanic forces of freemasonry and communism. Thus, it is those who are not Catholic that worship satan, lucifer, in particular.

Why are you cutting him slack?
It’s impossible for him not to know what Islam is all about. He has plenty of eyes and ears in the ME to say the least. His own priests are being murdered not to mention his flock. He obviously reads the papers and even the biased MSM is reporting on the horrors of Islam in Europe.
He is not cut off from the world in any way so how can you even suggest that he might not know.
He knows alright but he is working for the one below.
I really can’t understand how anyone can still think that people in certain positions are clueless about Islam. What makes us smarter than them? Do we have sources they don’t?

Call me a demented sensationalist, but my worst fear is someday turning on the TV and hearing the breaking news that the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis has embraced Islam…
You never really know what detrimental, Christianity damning rubbish he will spew when he opens his mouth next… It’s like walking on egg shells every time he speaks.
Imagine telling his congregation that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is dangerous without the guidance of the Catholic Church.
Whenever he goes out of his way to defend the “religion of peace”, he reminds me of Obama with a habit a skull cap and a slur.
A thorough disappointment compared to John Paul or even Benedict. His predecessors of the past centuries must be rolling in their graves, when he attempts to legitimize Islam and it’s barbaric scriptures…
God help us all… The true anti Christ occupies the Vatican.

Francis is the best propaganda for Protestant Christianity.
He should be more concerned about the alienation of his flock rather than the perceived alienation of Muslims in the western world.

I suspect that Francis has a dream of somehow bringing in all those muslims into the Church, which would result in an incredibly powerful religion. It would almost be a One World Religion.
Of course, the idea is insane, but I don’t put it past him.

IMHO, the Church is greatly blessed to have this Pope. I hope he will be spared for many years to come. As long as he is pleasing to God, that is all that matters – for that is the only “opinion” of any lasting value. Popes are to be venerated, loved, heeded and obeyed – not because they are anything in themselves, or because of their own characters, but because of the position they hold in the Church. Whether a Pope is a Saint or a scoundrel is beside the point. When the Church starts ripping to bits those appointed by Divine Providence to govern it in the Name of Christ, something is not right.
Peggy says

The creed of St. Athanasius, a symbol of the Catholic Faith states the following; “Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the Catholic Faith. Which Faith except everyone do keep whole and undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly.” As a Catholic I have no problem agreeing with this but the Pope has refuted it by his words and actions. He is without doubt the worst pope in the Church’s history and is doing harm to the Body of Christ. It is also salient to point out that the last council of the Church has been used by heretics within the Church to confuse people and lead them astray. The documents are written in ambiguous language and where novelties are taught they are in no way binding.

This piece pretty much says it all. I would only point out that Jorge Mario Bergoglio is more Communist politician than cleric. Destruction of western democracies, eliminating notions of private property, free enterprise, subordination of individual rights and freedom to the collective, is his ultimate objective. Right now Islam is the tool of choice for achieving those objectives, so he supports and encourages it. Since a large part of his own flock is not buying his prescription, he will easily sacrifice them to Islam and cry crocodile tears for their martyrdom. I have believed the man to be both dangerous and evil from the get go and his actions, speech and non-actions have only served to strengthen my convictions.
As long as people choose to swallow the religion of peace pablum fed daily to them by the media and academia and their false leaders, the institutional leftist politicians and elitists like Jorge Mario Bergoglio will continue to have their way.

You are correct, but I would go even farther, and say, as Walter Veith teaches, that there is a simister plan from the beginning of Islam, which he says was created by the vatican in the first place-to wipe out protestants–you can listen to his teaching on youtube–as well as plans by the jesuits to combine islam, judiasm, and the catholic church into a one-world church at the head of which is the pope.
So, he necessarily needs to water down the church’e doctrine, etc, and blur the lines between the world religions.
It’s so important to just follow Jesus Christ directly, and let Him lead you to your spiritual and physical needs.

so….islam was invented to wipe out……..protestants ?
then why are the orthodox Christians, hindu.shiia etc their primary targets ?

seasideroses says
If you are a catholic, then I could understand why you consider them to be “orthodox”; however, in my mind, an orthodox christian is one that adheres only to the bible and does not follow some religion (like catholicism); those are the christians that the vatican has always considered their enemies.
Not all protestants come under that category, of course. Jesus said you can tell them by their fruits.
Tonny says
I agree with you. One world religion was already in place in 2014 only one not involved was protestants. But you need to look in to the term call: 1666 Sabbatean- frankist illuminati history. Youtube. (Rothschild (Frankist) control the Vatican bank). It will come tougher.

seasideroses says
sorry, I misspoke when I said “protestants”; I was actually referring to the “true believers” that were not accepting roman catholicism at the time of st augustine, when he was bishop to north africa.
in alberto rivera’s (a former jesuit priest) words, It is excerpted from “The Prophet,” published by Chick Publications, PO Box 662, Chino CA 91708. I quote:
“”Another problem was the true Christians in North Africa who preached the gospel. Roman Catholicism was growing in power, but would not tolerate opposition. Somehow the Vatican had to create a weapon to eliminate both the Jews and the true Christian believers who refused to accept Roman Catholicism. Lookng to North Africa, they saw the multitudes of Arabs as a source of manpower to do their dirty work. Some Arabs had become Roman Catholic, and could be used in reporting information to leaders in Rome. Others were used in an underground spy network to carry out Rome’s master plan to control the great multitudes of Arabs who rejected Catholicism. When ‘St Augustine’ appeared on the scene, he knew what was going on. His monasteries served as bases to seek out and destroy Bible manuscripts owned by the true Christians.
“The Vatican wanted to create a messiah for the Arabs, someone they could raise up as a great leader, a man with charisma whom they could train, and eventually unite all the non-Catholic Arabs behind him, creating a mighty army that would ultimately capture Jerusalem for the pope. In the Vatican briefing, Cardinal Bea told us this story:
‘A wealthy Arabian lady who was a faithful follower of the pope played a tremendous part in this drama. She was a widow named Khadijah. She gave her wealth to the church and retired to a convent, but was given an assignment. She was to find a brilliant young man who could be used by the Vatican to create a new religion and become the messiah for the children of Ishmael. Khadijah had a cousin named Waraquah,, who was also a very faithful Roman Catholic and the Vatican placed him in a critical role as Muhammad’s advisor. He had tremendous influence on Muhammad…..”
He goes on to explain how muhammed was encouraged to have “visions”, which were interpreted by his wife’s cousin waraquah, and how he was coached into creating the quran and thus develop a religion for the arabs-Islam.
Walter veith, who admittedly is a 7th day adventist (I forgive him for that) also has a video on youtube explaining all this, besides

Frank is shielding the Islamic source doctrines from responsibility for the persecution of non-Muslims.
The Koran and Sunna command warfare against disbelievers, as well as the CONTINUED and CONSTANT HUMILIATION of disbelievers as second-class DHIMMIS under Sharia law.
The pope is apparently DEFENDING DHIMMITUDE.
Bill says
Jorge Mario Bergoglio is not merely defending Dhimmitude, he is embracing it and promoting it to the rest of the Church. All the Muslims he prostrates himself before, quietly laugh and congratulate themselves on their victory over the Roman Catholic Church. They see weakness and cowardice and many more Catholics and Christians will die or submit to Islam because of it. Bergoglio knows this. He is not unintelligent. He is part of the global leftist alliance with Islam.
Magali Marc says
I fail to see what the Holy father is trying to achieve.
By being «diplomatic» and promoting a vision of Islam that has nothing to do with the teachings of the Coran, he will loose the confidence of Christians and he will not succeed in putting an end to their persecutions in islamic countries. He may use the language of Marxists but Marxists are atheist anyway and believe that religion is the «opium of the people», so there is no chance to make any gains in that direction.
Those who point out that Benedict XVI was more honest (and certainly more intelligent) only forget that he didn’t get any results by «insulting» Islam. On the contrary, the persecution of Christians in Islamic countries was intensified.
So, is Francis buying into a loose-loose strategy that seems naïve, even idiotic or is he trying something else? Does Francis really believe that he can convince Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb to come up with a true reform of Islam that would make it the peaceful/compassionate religion its defenders claim it is ?
DFD says

============
You said: “…he will loose the confidence of Christians…”
Indeed so. In the UK and the Germanic countries people are leaving the churches in droves. In Germany for instance the rate is at about 8% annually!
That does not many mean that they leave Christendom. Most departees (?? my invention, for lack of a better word) make it clear in writing that they leave either because of the churche’s support for Islam or state that the church “…has lost its way … does not represent the faith any more … etc.” Example, a few months ago two German bishops went to visit the Temple Mount, and out of ‘respect to local sensibilities’ they removed their crosses. Outrage among German Christians. They tried to wriggle out, by claiming that the Israeli authorities insisted – Israel being far away and (hopefully) unaware, or couldn’t be bothered. Wrong! The Israeli government issued a statement through its embassy that that was definitely not the case. Stating further that no Christian visitors or pilgrims are asked to remove or hide any of their symbols, nor are the Muslims asked to do this.
Guess what: They are still in office, there was no further comment. And they are bul..sh..ting as before. Hmm, if the the flight from the churches continues as it does, then, in a few years, the clergy within the Germanic countries (Swiss, Austrian, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Scandinavia) will form an exclusive club with no member below the rank of parson/father… Worship? Private gatherings, hidden from the media/Antifa.
OK, here is something I wrote on the matter a while ago, though, it uses mostly Catholics as an example. Though, I think you will find this interesting. They may not MENTION anything about Islam, let alone make a CRITICISM.
Muslim ILLOGIC assumes that since Islam is ‘PERFECT’, it may not be criticize or examined using critical thought.
However, since the Koran cannot be examined using critical thought without the CONSQUENCE of LOSS OF ISLAMIC FAITH, Islam forbids the discussion of any problems in Islam… since mullahs narcissistically claim that Islam is ‘perfect, complete and eternal’. To admit ANY imperfection in Islam is to conclude it is NOT divine and therefore worthless and so Muslims may leave Islam.

In reference to Stalinist era similar attitude of submission and uncritical reverence was called the “cult of personality.” Leaving it untreated, it tends to have exactly the same results. I wonder what most of Roman Catholics will do if one day this Pope by seemingly mere whim (however well coordinated move taken in consultation with such imams as Ahmed al-Tayeb) tell them that their faith was heresy and from now on they are all Muslims and must bow toward Quibla? Will they still blindly follow him?
seasideroses says
Yes, those that are following a man and a religion will blindly follow him into the pit; those that break away and choose to follow Jesus Christ Himself will be led into all truth, as He promises, and will be led away from false religion, false men, and the Antichrist.

there is a percentage of catholics that re really true christians, in the sense that they know Jesus and may be “born again”, but they continue in catholicism, because they feel that they can reach out to those stuck in legalism, religiosity, , etc (as I was when formerly a catholic); this is the same in protestant and other churches; you have those that get saved and are called out of their congregation, and others that are called to remain and to help save others. Usually, one who gets saved becomes capable of receiving truth when reading the bible, as The Holy Spirit then guides them into all truth.
I don’t know if that is the case with spencer…..

Marcelo Salles says
I think it’s unfair to say that “the Catholic Church has become a booster of Islam” for many reasons:
1-There are many in the clergy of the Catholic Church who have spoken strongly against Islam
2-The Liberal (in terms of politics) Francis is the Pope, which makes views very significant, but he is not the Catholic Church
3-Even when thinking of Francis himself it’s sometimes difficult to draw the perfect line of what he deffends, because there are many statements, sometimes statements that even have an apparent contradiction. I have seen him speaking good and bad things. The ones who like him tend to emphasize the good things and the ones who dislike him tend to emphasize what is bad.
4-It’s a big mistake to put the Christian Church in any of its forms as an enemy. Our enemy are not the Catholics, Evangelicals or Orthodox. Saying that the Catholic Church is against Christianity is a big mistake.
5-There have been many Popes, good ones and bad ones. Saying that a Pope is deffending wrong things says more about the person of that specific Pope than about the Catholic Church as a whole.
So I believe that your analysis have many valid points, the Pope is wrong when he appeases Islam, this is very damaging, and it’s, yes, a clear deception, but I think that statements such as the one in the title should be avoided because they make people think of the Catholic Church as an enemy of Christianity. By the way, this is something that is a very common place among Evangelicals, who I believe should stop pointing the accusatory finger to the Catholics and start fixing their own mistakes. After all, there are many Evangelicals that appease Islam too.
Peggy says
Seeing how the Pope represents God and this particular Pope is very much pro Islam there is no confusion. The Catholic church under his guidance is definitely against not only Christians but other faiths as well because they defend the beast.
If he is good enough to represent God, why isn’t he good enough to represent the church? If the church is happy to put that face out to the world then what else can we conclude?
This is going to stay for as long as he’s alive. Once the next Pope takes office we’ll see if he reverses it all.

Islam is too ruthless, and strength is required at all times when dealing with them. They will swallow their disgust for the time being, to obtain the support of their allies. But, the time will come when the useful idiots are lined up and shot by the followers of the religion of pieces, and I for one can ‘t wait to see it.
Bill says
The conceit of the left is that after they have used Islam as their hammer to destroy freedom and independence in the West, they will then turn and bring Islam to heel. I believe they are wrong about that. Islam, so thoroughly rooted in the Europe and North America, will destroy the left with ease. There will hardly be a battle.

Despicable old man. Catholicism is papism. People worship the pope, not Christ.
Wellington says
As much as I deplore the present Pope, stating that Catholics “worship the pope, not Christ,” is simply a completely erroneous assessment of Catholic doctrine. Only God (Christ) is worshipped by Catholics. They may venerate or admire living or dead Catholics (including saints of course) but to state that Catholics worship the pope is an error of the first dimension and will have the result of insuring that you will be taken seriously only by other people ignorant of Catholic doctrine, and thus not amounting to much at all.
no_one says
The pope has too much power. I can’t take the Catholic doctrine seriously as long as it changes with every pope. Anyone who is familiar with Vatican II can’t take the RCC seriously. Too much attention is paid to doctrine. Too little attention to the Gospel and Christ.
Wellington says
First of all, you shifted topics on me. Your original statement was that “Catholics worship the pope” and this is flat out wrong and one knows this or should know it. This you did not address in your second post.
Second of all, you err again when you say that “Catholic doctrine…….changes with every pope.” No it does not.
As for your final comment that “Too much attention is paid to doctrine,” don’t you comprehend that the Gospels and Christ form the epicenter of———doctrine, in this instance Christian doctrine? Catholic doctrine is based on 1) the Bible; and 2) continuing revelation from the Christian God and as upheld by the Catholic Church. Protestantism asserts that revelation ended with the Bible. Here Catholicism and Protestantism most decidedly differ since Catholicism asserts that revelation is ongoing to the present day from the Christian deity.
Disagree with Catholicism if you wish, but at least get Catholicism down correctly if you’re going to criticize it.

@Wellington Catholics have “Immaculate conception” and purgatory that doesn’t come from the Gospels. Some of the saints are questionable like the hater John Paul II. He hated me personally and I was a kid. At least I felt hated by him. There is too much tradition and too little faith. I have seen Catholics praying for John Pal II when he was ill. It looked like they worshiped him. You have too little life experience (even if you are not young living in the US does not give you experience). and too much confidence that you know everything. Plus you have little social skills.
gravenimage says
Agreed, Wellington. This is not about Catholicism in and of itself. If someone–or no one, in this case–hates Catholicism, that is a different matter.
And no_one, I doubt *very much* that Pope John Paul II hated you personally–especially when you were a child. He was, in fact, known as a very loving pontiff.

==========================
I don’t know about that. no_one had a personal relationship with him so he would be in best position to know how he felt in his presence. If he felt hated then there must’ve been something to it. Children are very perceptive about such things.
As far as he was considered a very loving pontiff is not a reason to think he couldn’t be different when out of public eye. You really cannot know his treatment of kids when nobody is looking better than no_one.
I don’t know either way but I would not dismiss a claim from someone who has known him personally.

Well said Wellington.
Wellington says
John Paul II hated you personally. Oh brother.
And you are so out of arguments that you had to stoop to personal insult. Guess you have nothing left.
Finally, I think one of the stupidest comments I have ever read here at JW is your assertion that living in the US does not give one enough life experience. I have come across a lot of anti-American rot over the years, but yours here I’m putting in the top ten.
no_one says
When you take a potato and wonder to eat it all for lunch or have half for lunch and half for dinner then you are going to talk to me like that. I don’t hate Americans. They just have an easy life style and don’t know many things. John Paul II has offended me personally when I was a kid and my whole family. I have forgiven him, but don’t think he is a saint. He hated communist countries and everybody born there. These were just people that didn’t choose where to be born. Popes are too much of rock starts. Only Benedict XVI looked somewhat humble.
Wellington says
John Paul II hated Communism, as he should have, and as I do, and as anyone who cherishes freedom should, but he did not hate the people in Communist countries and asserting such just reveals how ridiculous, hysterical and erroneous you are.
As for Americans having an easy lifestyle, to the extent they do they forged it for themselves over many generations, Freedom made America great more than any other factor and I’m sorry that other polities still to this day, let alone in past centuries, have yet to figure this out. You not only insult me when you aver, as you have, that Americans don’t have enough life experiences, but millions upon millions of other Americans. It’s a cheap shot of the worst kind on your part.
As for me personally, I’ve had enough trials in my life. My father died when I was young. My elderly mother now has Alzheimer’s, my wife, whom I love more than any other person I have ever known, had cancer, went through extremely painful cancer treatments and yet survived. I had to watch her go through all the Hell that she did and it was the most painful experience of my life. I have myself had several financial and physical setbacks. For you to assert that being an American means you have it easy is simply an appalling assertion on your part. It’s rooted in ignorance, jealously and stupidity.
Besides, and as Lao-Tzu observed, one can know the whole world and never leave his home. So, being an American in no way, ipso facto, validates what you have had to say about America. Again, shame on you. Deep shame.
no_one says
@Wellington. Sorry if I have insulted you. It is hard to loose your father at young age. I am glad your wife survived cancer, because my loved one didn’t. I think is still harder when the whole country is a ghetto and you never know if you are going to return home and your family too. As for Lao-Tzu I don’t agree with him. He is entitled to an opinion. Well sometimes being an American is not that easy too, but you still don’t know how it feels not to have freedom and to depend on what people in other countries decide for you and your loved ones. US may experience this very soon with “islamophobia” and such. I can say a lot more, but I’ll stop here.
gravenimage says
no_one, I’m sorry you went hungry as a child–and sorry that lost a loved one to cancer.
Hunger was often common in Communist countries–this was because of the harmful creed of Communism itself.
John Paul II did indeed oppose Communism–and for good reason. He did not hate people in Communist countries, though.
Are you unaware that he *himself* was from a country taken over by the Communism? He was born Karol Józef Wojtyła in Wadowice, Poland.
When he visited Poland in 1979, he did not tell the people there he hated them–he reminded them of their personal worth and dignity, and that Christ loved them.
If Communist authorities told you that the pope hated you, this was child abuse on *their* part, not on the part of Pope John Paul II.
And not everyone in America is a stranger to hardship. I grew up in an abusive home and lived on the street after running away from home at fifteen.
But you are right–living in a free country gave me hope at even the darkest times.
It has sometimes been exaggerated, but Pope John Paul II’s actions *did* have a role in freeing the Soviet Union and former Soviet bloc countries from Communism.
Pal says
Gravenimage,

The main problem with Francis is that he believes he is not only infallible in speaking on matters of Catholic faith and morals but also on Islam – the latter which has nothing to do with papal infallibility.
And speaking as a former Roman Catholic myself, the Catholic version of “Common Core” catechism which includes this ludicrous belief that “we all (including Muslims) worship the same God” simply is not true. Allah and Jesus Christ are NOT one and the same God, not in the Bible, not even in the Quran.
But like I said, Francis is great propaganda for members of his church leaving for other Christian churches.
Last but not least the word Catholic comes from the Greek word katholik which means “universal doctrine” in the Christian sense even though much has been borrowed from pre-existing religions namely paganism. Historically there was no overnight mass conversion, rather it was done slowly and integrated a lot of pre-existing doctrines in order to make it appeal to the masses.

Yes, this pope is just a run of the mill Leftist, with the usual double standards. Yawn.

It also commands death to those who do not submit. It also says it is BLASPHEMY to say Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus IS the Son of God, IS the foundation of Christianity. If the Vatican can not recognize this, then they are NOT connected to Jesus or Peter in any manner at all, and NEVER were. Anyone that would exalt Osiris and fashion their altar/Baldacchino after his Shrine are NOT Christians, but satanists that worship him, which Osiris IS satan. Serpents in shepherds cloaks. Jesus commanded His apostles to be martyred. No exceptions. A requirement to Apostleship. How many Popes have done this? NONE, unless it is time for them to rewrite history again and hide the truth.

“…because this man is Pope, all too many Catholics, including some in positions of high authority, treat him as if he were a divine oracle, his every utterance to be revered, respected, studied, and followed. … Catholic leaders and publications tend to think that they must adhere to anything the Pope says about anything.”
I guess I don’t really have to point out how ridiculously ignorant and offensive (not to mention flat-out WRONG) these statements are. The Catholics who have already posted many intelligent comments here before me have proven that.
Robert Spencer says
On the contrary, those statements are the plain truth. I could list for you the Catholic publications that dropped my articles because they felt they had to follow Francis’ line on Islam. This is something I have experienced personally. You’re offended by reality?
Irene Brekelmans says
I have never understood the Catholic religion, who are those popes who proclaim themselves as God on earth, says who? As Christians, they never have proclaimed a God on earth. Christ said: I am the son of God, but so are you. When you learn further about this, you know that you are. Me too, I AM THAT I AM..
Christ left it up to us, better yourself and God and Christ are the Love, and nothing goes above that.
But when religions start to name Gods here on earth, there is something very unhealthy about it. Now I don’t mind as long what people hang on to, as long as they don’t bother me with it and other people who don’t believe the same. In fact, it is the same with a certain prophet. People have to learn to think for themselves and not blindly follow a so called leader. The Catholic church has done a lot of damage to people and so has Islam. And so did the Christians in former times.
Pope Benedict knew this and he was going to speak out. Why are all the Vatican libraries total secret and nobody can enter them, because there seem to be papers and books in them that tell you the truth, and it would be the end of the Catholic Church and with it, all religions will end, and nobody wants that, because they can not dictating the people any more. The same with governments. The pope will go with the so called winners, but there will be no winner, not the leftists, not the muslims, you will see who is the winner and we will be happy in the end, no thanks to the pope or muslims, they will feel very ashamed, because we are going towards a time, where there will be peace and nobody can dictate anybody else, that will be the time of peace and you are all have to abide by that. If not and you don’t agree with it, you will be removed to another planet where you will have to start all over and you can stay on fighting among each other and stay in that for another trillion of years, while the rest who want peace move on and are getting a higher consciousness . The thing is to stay calm, I know it is difficult, but we have to. And pls don’t humanise God, GOD IS. Not revengeful, not hating, he does not think like us. HE IS ONLY LOVE and He wants the same for us, in whatever religion you are. It all depends on us,
and that is for all people from whatever religion you are. Have respect for every human being , for nature and the whole Galaxy, ours and others. We are known in our Cosmos with our human race, to be the most violent planet there is, which is not a good thing, but I have to agree. But the time is near in the next years and nobody will know that moment that is coming. God is soft as butter , but hard as steel and at a certain point near it is enough and who He says it is enough, there is nothing more you can do
which is a good thing, a very good thing. Everything is almost in its place. We are supposed to go to the 5th dimension the quantum dimension, but you can not go there with violence and that is the story in short and I don;t care if everybody thinks I am crazy, It will be. Do not worry and don’t be afraid. We will get some very bad weather this year, because the earth is going to fight back because of all the harm we did to her and she is fighting back now, we can still save her, but it all depend on our collective consciousness. And why is this all? Because we passed the Equinox in the year 2012. And why was that? Because it was the first time that the scale on one side finally moved, there were more people who wanted peace than people on the violent side. Can you imagine the first time in trillions of years. And that is why, so we can stay on messing it up, but we don’t want to go backwards, but forwards and I surely hope, in that that people will agree with this.. So this is a message to all people of all religions.
May you all BE PEACE !!!!

I am sure that in the not too distant future the Catholic organisation, which bears only a passing resemblance to real Christianity, will merge with Islam. There are for real Christians within catholicism. You won’t find too many at the higher echelons. It has long been a given among Christians that Islam is monotheistic and worships the same God as Christians and Jews. That could not be more wrong. How is it possible that the God of the Muslim would order the death of Christians who who worship the same God? God is not schizophrenic! Yet the myth persists, in spite of all the facts that bellow out the contrary. A dear departed brother of mine saw the rise of Islam coming 40 years ago (yes, I am that old). I did not take it that seriously at the time. The last few years have proved him to be correct. He saw Islam like a black mist creeping over the earth. That is a pretty good analogy. What can be done? If you are a Christian, ditch any notion that Islam has any good intent whatsoever. For those who know what it means, this is a spiritual battle and we need to take it on at that level.
abad says
Isn’t that a coincidence, my older brother has said the same thing about Islam in fact two years before 9-11 he stated “Before you know it Muslims will be killing us all.”
World War 3 has begun, it is a religious war between Christianity and Islam, Islam is being exposed for what it is, a Big Lie, Satan is the Father of the Lie.
And the Lie cannot exist where Jesus Christ is, for the Lord is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6).
Francis has already forfeited the true message of the Gospels for the Lie of Islam and in doing so, is no longer a mouthpiece for Christianity.
james.mich says
Not going to happen. No such merger is possible.
seasideroses says
James, you say it can’t happen,
but haven’t you noticed all the subtle programming that has been going on in the world via the media and the schools and the liberal churches for many years?
They have been slowly but surely creating a culture that is more focused on entertainment, technology, fame, fortune, and many things that are the opposite of spirituality (unless it’s “new-age” spirituality, which is anti-Christ). They are creating a population that is too mindless and self-absorbed to be willing/able to pay any attention to politics or to what is being forced on them by their “leaders”; they simply let their leaders do whatever they see fit to do.
And these “leaders” are slowly decimating Christianity–watering it down–with pope Francis’s help–such that, eventually, Jesus Christ Himself will be divorced from “the church”; the new, global church will be strictly about “love”, peace, doing good deeds, being all you can be, discarding the idea of sin and sinful mankind, etc etc.;of course, it won’t be tolerated by true believers, whether muslim or Christians, but the idea is that it will become so large and populous that its shear size will make it a powerful institution, capable of keeping true believers down (probably thru martyrdom).
I have never found the pope or the catholic church to be about what the true church is about, namely, preaching repentance from sin and the need to believe in Jesus Christ as having come in the flesh and died for our sins and is now sitting at the right hand of The Father. Rather, it’s about certain doctrines they created (that are not bibilically-based), and that’s pretty much what the clergy teaches. Therefore, all the pope has to do is change catholic doctrine, to make it more palatable to other religions, while he also undermines the authority of Jesus Christ, etc. This is exactly what he’s doing, even while some in the church are protesting and trying to do something about it, and the pope is silencing them.
That’s how it’s possible, in my mind, for the pope to successfully create a “one-world religion” at which he is the head.

gravenimage, it’s not catholicism itself that “created islam”, but rather the vatican, in reaction to the “true believers” that were not accepting roman catholicism at the time of st augustine, when he was bishop to north africa.
in alberto rivera’s (a former jesuit priest) words, It is excerpted from “The Prophet,” published by Chick Publications, PO Box 662, Chino CA 91708.
Walter veith, who admittedly is a 7th day adventist (I forgive him for that) also has a video on youtube explaining all this, besides
so, though there were the crusades, I can believe that since it was the vatican behind them, that they were more political than spiritual in terms of motivation.

….which means he’s never read the koran because it pretty much sanctions all forms of violence and cruelty.
Interestingly enough, francis has been widely condemned by faithful catholics, moral theologians and many cardinals for his false teachings in “Amoris Laetitia”……
Neither francis nor the Vatican authorities are servants of Christ or defenders of Christendom.
Some traditionalists refer to him as Mr Bergoglio and because he is betraying Catholics and introducing teachings that are contrary to catholic beliefs and values(see Amoris Laetitia)he is very much acting as a false prophet.
Salah says
Bergolio IS NOT the Pope.
Pope Benedict is the ONLY living Pope. He was coerced to resign.
According to the canon law this resignation is INVALID.
Bergolio is an ANTI-POPE. Catholic Bishops should kick him out of the Chair of Peter asap.
Peggy says
I think Pope Benedict resigned soon after a corruption investigation was conducted into Vatican bank and the way Vatican is run.
This report was handed over to him in December 2012. It think it became obvious that he wasn’t going to look the other way and was “encouraged” to go.
Just a theory.
Lioness says
It’s time the Pope come out and convert to Islam and change his name to Ahmed.
Lydia says
He’s the antichrist. Period.
