Helsinki city council is deciding whether to green light plans for a large mosque complex in the Finnish capital which have led to fierce political debate.
The new grand mosque could pose a security threat for two reasons, according to Tarja Mankkinen, the interior minister responsible for Finland’s anti-radicalisation policy. The first reason is that funding for the mosque could come from countries that are state sponsors of terrorism. Bahrain has been identified as a funder; Bahrain has long projected itself to the outside world as a country devoted to combating terrorism. including terror financing. Still, it is not reportedly doing anything effective to curb Islamic State activity; quite the contrary. Bahrain dismisses jihadist activity as problem of:
“misguided” youth who have been “led astray.” There is no acknowledgement that books printed and distributed by the Bahraini Army itself have promoted the takfiri thought that underpins IS and other extremist groups.
The second reason presented for why the mosque could be a security risk involves the nonsensical pandering to Muslims we see so often, based upon the belief that they are easily provoked and therefore the onus is on everyone else to keep them settled. This idea is as insulting to Muslims as it is damaging to Western society. Mankkinen stated that “any anti-Muslim backlash could also ‘increase the breeding ground for the violent extremism motivated by religion.'” Apparently her idea is that if the mosque isn’t built, Muslims will be enraged and become jihadis.
Funding from states that fund jihad needs to be stopped and mosques need to be monitored, given their role in the radicalization process.
“Finnish minister says new ‘grand mosque’ plans could pose ‘security risk'”, by Bethan McKernan, Independent, May 3, 2017:
Helsinki city council is deciding whether to green light plans for a large mosque complex in the Finnish capital which have led to fierce political debate.
Muslim community leaders first submitted the proposals for a ‘grand mosque’ – double the size of the city’s Lutheran cathedral – on an old industrial site two years ago, but the plans proved to be a hot-button topic in the Helsinki mayoral elections last month.
While the city is already home to several mosques, all but one are poky buildings with previous uses which have been converted.
The 1800 square metre ‘Oasis’ complex, to be built in a Moorish fashion, is billed as a community centre open to both the entire city’s diverse Muslim population as well as non-Muslims. The building – which would open in 2024 – would accommodate 1,200 worshippers at a time, and the grounds and gardens include a cultural dialogue centre.
The proposals were met with particular hostility when it emerged the $151 million (£117 million) construction would be funded by the monarchy of the Gulf state of Bahrain.
While Tarja Mankkinen, the interior minister responsible for Finland’s anti-radicalisation policy, said the ministry found many “positive aspects” in the mosque project, “the challenge is that the mosque is planned to be funded by Bahrain and possibly by other Gulf countries”.
“The role of the actors who fund the mosque and its activities might consist a [security] risk if it decreases the feeling of belonging to the Finnish society among the Muslim population,” she told Middle East Eye.
Any anti-Muslim backlash could also “increase the breeding ground for the violent extremism motivated by religion,” she said.
“The funding is being debated, even though we are not even building anything yet,” Pia Jardi, the mosque’s project manager, wrote on her blog.
The Finnish foundation handling the proposed construction means that all plans are subject to strict co-ordination and supervision, she added.
“The rules include no radical teachings or ways of operation… The plan is clear that the activities of the mosque will be managed by Finnish Muslims and that activities will also be organised in Finnish. The Friday sermons, for example, must be organised in both Arabic and Finnish.”
Several candidates in April’s municipal elections – as well as other politicians and several other members of public life – weighed in on the proposals, which led to demonstrations in 2015. Incoming centre-right mayor Jan Vapaavuori said during his campaign that he would actively try to stop the mosque being built.
While at the top levels of government the mosque has received support, Finland, like much of Europe, has seen a rise in popularity of right-wing populist parties in recent years which attract votes by capitalising on anti-immigration fears…..

Agreed Bkpc the discussion by Mr Mankkinen is eerily like the one taking place here in Alberta regarding the planned mosque also referred to as a ‘grand’ ,mosque in Fort McMurray. The very same questions and concerns voiced by Mr Mankkinen need to be brought forth here as well. Especially considering that our village idiot PM(prime moron) Just In TurdDoh and his cabinet of moslem brotherhood members and lieberal butt kissers is partially funding the building of it, when they couldn’t even bother to provide assistance during last years wildfire swept through the city. That plus the fact that Ft McMurray is a major energy center for the nation and would be a major threat to the Saudi’s virtual stranglehold on world petroleum sales. Thus allowing such a large build up of potential fifth columnists and terrorist supporters to target our oil infrastructure is a major security risk that our governments at all levels are ignoring thanks to jihadi Justin TurdDope.

I have no doubt that others know better than I, but! To Islam there is no difference between government and religion. “Separation of church and state” does not exist under Islam. Please correct me if I am in error.
As I have studied WWII most of my life, this rings of “One mosque, One state, One prophet”. All others are “untermensch” (sub-humans), dhimmis, slaves to be destroyed by conquest. “If Islam was such a great deal, why were 4,000,000 Egyptians murdered bringing it to Egypt?” Mark Gabriel, Ph.D, The Unfinished Battle.

You are correct. Islam is a theocracy and it is prohibited by Article 6 of the US Constitution in the US. No Islamic can be a loyal citizen of a country not ruled by Islam. Their theocracy requires them to overthrow the legitimate government.

This is exactly the problem of Europe. The Finnish minister Tarja Mankkinen doe not dare to say no to the muslims about building the Grand Mosque, because she is afraid of the muslims, because they will be enraged if they don’t get their Mosque. It is pure black mail, and everything else is being done that way.
But all those lefters/liberals/feminists do not know what is coming for them, which will be much worse than when they would have stepped up before, and you are letting time pass. We are out of time, they are regrouping every day, buying weapons etc. But that you did not stand up for your children who will have to live in Sharia Law, that is so very, very terrible. And Germany, you did a fabulous job in 1940-1945, you did not stand up then and you don’t now, but then most of you haven’t got children, what would you care. You had a fabulous salary and lived well from the taxpayers money, but what you realy did for us citizens, I would not know, some social things, but when it comes to the nitty, gritty, you are and were nowhere to be heard or seen, only the ones who dared to speak out, were dragged to court.
I wished that you, Europe had spoken and take decisions in 1940, and now the same happens now, already for years. Political correctness !!! What a cop out, just to keep things quiet and by all means, don’t let the muslims get upset. You will see what the future brings you !! Have a good night sleep, you deserve it !!!! Freedom of speech !!!! And don’t compare us with the fascists or nazi’s, you don’t want to know your own history and if I was in your place, I would not want to know either.

Meanwhile, Christian churches, Jewish synagogues, Buddhist temples, et al. are arising in one Muslim nation after another since Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance and encourages interfaith dialogue and lives it to the max every day.
Only an Islamophobe, a bigot of the first order like Robert Spencer, would ever assert otherwise, whether at the University of Buffalo, Gettysburg College or elsewhere.

Now churches are closing throughout the land for lack of attendance and support; while the filthy savages crawl into every crevice to create a new frontier only to destroy it while the liberals run ’round slapping themselves on the back celebrating diversity at the expense of my grandkids. Islam is not native to Saudi Arabia either. Mohammad murdered the last Jewish community there in 632. Not as rude as sawing people’s heads off!
And yes, kudos to any leader of any non-Muslim country who sees the problem these days – they are diamonds on the junk heap.
Stan Lee says
The risk to Finland and its native people existed the minute that the first wave of Muslims were admitted out of the “grand gesture” of the EU clowns who make the rules and decisions for Europe. Notice…Russia is not EU territory because the idiots seated in Brussels would never have to guts to promote a migrant invasion by suggesting same with Russia. Simply, Moscow would advise Brussels to “get lost”,
Russia has been well experienced with its own Muslim encounters against Russian law. And, that is why Moscow is tough about Muslim infiltration from the lands of the illiterate, useless, fanatical servants of the Q’uran’s directives. Russia has its own Muslim restlessness in the Caucasus “republics” of the “Russian Federation.” Moscow will not entertain any more than what problems already exist there.
And, it is party to a very recent arrangement of creating “safe zones” in territories generally regarded as Araby or Persian lands precluding any further Muslim populating in any Russian territory. This was the recent Russia, Turkey, and Iran combined effort.
How sad it is that such an idea wasn’t present from the beginning, which would have kept refugees from being infiltrated by Muslims intent on killing for jihad, nor made other Muslims a displaced people in a Europe of strangeness to them. Moscow appears to have succeeded in that regard, where western Europe has been a pathetic failure which invited internal chaos by trying to be all things to everybody, by playing Roulette with Europeans forced into some semblance of hospitality to a weird horde of Muslims who arrive with their hate indoctrination and have no concept of gratitude.
With all of ex-President Obama’s speeches and kissing up to the UN, he was a negligent party who accomplished nothing of positive significance. A constructive U.S. President could have been instrumental in creating “safe zones” long before Russia, Turkey, and Iran introduced the thoughtful arrangement, thus relieving Euro folks from being disadvantaged by the orders of the EU organization, which has completely ruined Europe for generations to come.
Michael Copeland says
“the EU organization, which has completely ruined Europe for generations to come.”
That is its unstated objective.
Search the Koudenhove-Kalergi plan on the net.
Frank Anderson says
Obama was not negligent: He knew what he wanted and acted with intent to bring about the results that followed. The present is no accident from a careless fool, but the result of a carefully calculated plan to destroy the Infidel West. Think about it.
Yokel (looking over his shoulder at GCHQ) says
On the evidence to hand it seems to me that Obama was but a mere foot soldier in this fight. It could be that your sentence might have been improved to read “He knew what was wanted of him and obediently acted with intent …”
There are those who feel that Obama knew what he was doing all right, but that others are pulling his strings.
Frank Anderson says
Yokel, I have no reason to DISAGREE with you. As smart as BHO claims and appears (falsely) to be, we have never seen a transcript, or even the barest detailed list of academic activity, except for the fact that he was given a Fullbright FOREIGN student scholarship at Occidental College. Those are not available to United States Citizens. Who is pulling his puppet strings certainly includes that Nazi collaborator and open-border advocate George Soros. Either BHO is guilty of fraud in obtaining the Fullbright scholarship or he is guilty of fraud in becoming President of the United States in violation of the Constitutional requirement of “a natural born citizen over the age of 35”..
The “Birther” issue itself is one that should be decided on the basis of “preponderance of evidence” rather than “beyond the shadow of a reasonable doubt and to a moral certainty” standard of proof. I think the preponderance test is met with what is known, in spite of the deception we have been fed for 8 years.
Donald R Laster Jr says
Mr Obama was born with the citizenship of three countries – Kenya and the UK via his father, and US via his mother. He was never President of the US. He failed both citizenship requirements. He ACTED as President in violations of the US Constitution and those who put his electors on the ballot are guilty of a variety of crimes – starting with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. For a person to be a natural born citizen of a country the person has to be born in the country and both parents be citizens of country at the time of birth. Mr Obama claimed to be born in Kenya prior to illicitly running for President. Even if he had been born in Hawaii his father prevents him from being a natural born citizen of the US. The only actual birth certificate that has ever been produced is from Kenya. The document from Hawaii is a birth registration not a birth certificate that any one could request for a relative child born ANY WHERE in the world. I believe Hawaii stopped issuing them in the 1970s or early 1980s. Nothing Mr Obama did has any validity and that includes appointments, signing bills into law, executive orders, and so on. We, citizens and actual immigrants, have a lot of work to restore the rule of law in the US.
Frank Anderson says
Donald, the really HARD question that I am not sure has been settled is the definition of “natural born citizen”. In spite of that unsettled (?) question, his acceptance of a FOREIGN student scholarship admits in the legal sense of “admissions” that he is not a U.S. citizen. The two “stati” (statuses) are mutually exclusive: either one or the other but both at the same time are impossible..
There is a case discussed early in law school where a man who was 3,000 (+/-?) miles away when A dog bit a neighbor, who came back and admitted HIS dog bit the neighbor, was held responsible for the damages to the neighbor. BHO admitted he was not a US citizen when he accepted the foreign student scholarship. Will the truth ever be told?
Donald R Laster Jr says
The meaning of natural born citizen has been known and defined since 1758 when “Law of Nations” was published. When the 1773 editions was brought to the Ben Franklin by Charles Dumas the meaning was known. In fact when Chester A Arthur was nominated for Vice President he was challenged because he was not believed/or was not a natural born citizen of the US (birth conditions similar to Mr Cruz). The US Supreme Court has referenced the meaning of the term numerous times over the last 200 plus years. The only people who pretend it is not known or is questionable are those supporting people who fails the requirements. People like Mr Obama, Mr McCain, Mr Cruz, and so. Don’t buy into the lie the meaning is not known. The term “natural born Citizen” is from Law of Nations Books 1 Chapter 19 Paragraph number 212. The specific sentence in the original French is:
“Les Naturels, ou Indigènes font ceux qui font nés dans le pays, de Paren Citoyens.”
In the 1760 English translation of this work this sentence is translated as
“Its natives are those who are born in the country parents who are citizens.”
The later translations (1773/1795) translate this sentence as
“The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.”
Law of Nations is referenced in Article 1 Section 8 Paragraph/Clause 10 of the US Constitution as well. It was also used in writing the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, US Constitution. The reason it was included was to prevent the Presidency from being help by a person with split loyalties. Remember, Congress only met 3 months out of the years for the first 100 years or so.
Mr Obama was a foreign national under the law AND a US citizen. He was able to be both because we do have laws under the provisions of Article 1 Section 8 Paragraph/Clause 4 disallowing a person to hold US and citizens of other countries. So he could claim to be a foreign citizen until he turned 21 when he lost the citizenship of Indonesia (received due to adoption), Kenya, and the UK, which do not allow dual citizenship.
Frank Anderson says
Donald, Thank you for your excellent and thorough response. I did not know of your source. I am learning about something I did not know. As clear and strong as this argument appears to me, where was anyone with the spine and resources to present the argument in court? Eight years of tyranny, deception and national sabotage are high prices to pay.
Jeanette says
If we were to have the equivalent of the Nuremberg Trials for Muslim butchers, there is no way that Obama would get away with claiming that he was a mere “foot soldier.”

Finland, you have to allow this mosque to go ahead. Firstly you may gain influence with the oil rich Middle East and get some of your fuel problems sorted. Secondly you’ll keep your local muslims happy & content who’d otherwise accuse you of Islamophobia, thirdly, many planned mosques in the third world that have an even harder time in resisting mosque building projects may at least slow down in appearance and it may help to deplet the coffers of these mosque building believers a little more. You know you need cultural enrichment like other Scandinavian countries. You may even get closer to putting up a large church on ME soil. I as a tourist would be humbled in visiting such a northern bastion of the faith and contemplate why infidels like me have to acknowledge Islams superior access to money and big architecture. Thanks for considering my views.

I lived in Helsinki, Finland for almost 2 years in the early ’90’s and it was so peaceful there at the time. I rarely saw any foreigners and the only people to commit crime were the gypsies that hung out at the train station. I could even hitch hike without worrying about being assaulted. Nowadays, you can’t do that there. Sweden is becoming a haven for Muslim migrants and Finland will soon follow if this mosque is built. Very sad, indeed!

Donald Lester, It took very little to find that the Law of Nations book was used by the Supreme Court to uphold draft laws in 1918. Under “stare decisis” I believe the book should also be considered authority in the question of citizenship. All that Dinesh D’Souza did was expose the “Roots of Obama’s Rage” and he paid for it. Shame that a stronger court case was not made in time to prevent 8 disastrous years of illegal rule. Thank you again for making me aware that an actual book existed at the time of writing the Constitution. I do not believe that was ever mentioned in law school or any seminars.
Donald R Laster Jr says
Frank Anderson, in answer to your earlier question in the one post see the case “Purpura v Sebelius” in relation to the PPACA. The judge manufactured a standing argument after the DOJ lost. Count 6 dealt with the fact the bill had never been signed into law since Mr Obama was not actually President and therefore unable to sign bills into law. The PPACA involves violations of 19 provisions of the US Constitution. I am one of the few people who have read all 2409 pages of the Senate bill that comprises the PPACA.
Donald R Laster Jr says
Keep in mind “Progressives” and other anti-US people won’t want Law of Nations to be referenced since it undermines their “State is Supreme” agenda. Law of Nations states the State is there for the people, not the people there for the State.
