.@Portland_State Here is full clip that I recorded. An audience member asked about Quran 5:51 & “infidels.” He summarizes Quran 5:32 just before video starts pic.twitter.com/7FMgsPbFR6

The Muslim student is right, and unusually honest. The death penalty for apostasy is part of Islamic law. It’s based on the Qur’an: “They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah. But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.” (Qur’an 4:89)
A hadith depicts Muhammad saying: “Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him” (Bukhari 9.84.57). The death penalty for apostasy is part of Islamic law according to all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence.
This is still the position of all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence, both Sunni and Shi’ite. Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the most renowned and prominent Muslim cleric in the world, has stated: “The Muslim jurists are unanimous that apostates must be punished, yet they differ as to determining the kind of punishment to be inflicted upon them. The majority of them, including the four main schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, and Hanbali) as well as the other four schools of jurisprudence (the four Shiite schools of Az-Zaidiyyah, Al-Ithna-‘ashriyyah, Al-Ja’fariyyah, and Az-Zaheriyyah) agree that apostates must be executed.”
Qaradawi also once famously said: “If they had gotten rid of the apostasy punishment, Islam wouldn’t exist today.”
Keith says
Why didn’t other members of the Interfaith panel query his understanding of Islam or were they happy with the answer he gave to the question?
Keith says
Should have said the fact that they did not challenge him is very worrying.

Kinda looks like Maddie just couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

I hope everyone watching this observed how QUICKLY the bearded guy in the front jumped up and grabbed the microphone to quickly cover up what the black guy had just said about Islam. The bearded guy is much more trained in taquyia. He sure settled that for the snowflakes in the “INTER” faith panel.
gravenimage says
Yea–that was some quick CYA.
And notice the bait and switch–he was not talking about apostates, but about Christians who had never been Muslim.
He also failed to acknowledge that this population was being threatened and murdered and was almost wiped out even before ISIS showed up on the scene.
PRCS says
He doesn’t think the Islamic State is Muslim, and I guess he just forgot to mention that it’s perfectly o.k. for “filthy unbelievers” to remain in Muslim “lands”—if they pay the jizya and feel themselves subdued.
Rob says
Yah, the bearded guy tried making the case that non-Muslims still exist in “Muslim” countries like Syria and Iraq (once centers of Christianity) because Islam was OK with religious co-existence. He conveniently forgot to mention the dhimmirude status these remnant minorities live under, their inability to legally build or repair their churches or synagogues (true even in “modern” Turkey), etc. The black guy was trying to be honest – the bearded white guy was not.
Westman says
The bigger the beard, the bigger the lies… That there is no penalty of death for apostasy and that non-Muslims have equal rights in Muslim countries are two of the foremost lies of Muslim apologists. It’s amazing that lying about one’s own religion is a virtue – only in Islam.
The Muslim version of the Ten Commandments:
Thou shalt have no other gods before me – and my name is Allah the greatest.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth( to worship) – easy enough, destroy all art and civilizations before us.
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain – we shout Allahu Akbar at every opportunity while oppressing, persecuting, and killing. It wasn’t in vain because our Allah always defeats our enemies. Err, maybe not always…..would that be in vain?
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy – Friday, you mean. Holy means listening to the Imam decribe how Allah will take over the earth through the Ummah, kill all the Jews, and dominate the kufar until they burn in hell while we enjoy Jannah, its virgins, and watch the kufars burn for amusement.
Honour thy father and thy mother – well, dad at least. A Muslim knows he has become a man when can treat his mother and sister as inferiors with other men’s approval.
Thou shalt not kill – Muslims, that is, unless they belong to some pansy Muslim sect. All kufars don’t count as human.
Thou shalt not commit adultery – With four wives who needs that?
Thou shalt not steal – from Muslims. Stealing from kufars by using their welfare systems is part of bringing them into submission by sabotaging their “miserable” house.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor – if he is a Muslim. Fabricating anything that looks like an attack or criticism on the part of kufars will be rewarded.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s – Since they’re not considered human by Islam, Kufars cannot be neighbors, so everything the non-Muslim has is potential Booty. Don’t forget to pay the zakat.
Rdk3 says
When is it going to stop? When will we stop supporting a religion that advocates killing if they don’t support that particular religion? WHEN IS IT GOING TO STOP?

Portland State U: Muslim student says those who leave Islam will be killed in an Islamic state
……………………
This is, of course, mainstream Islam.
And thanks to the brave Andy Ngo for reporting this. Grotesquely, he was fired for reporting this story:
“Portland State U: Student fired from paper for reporting about Muslim student’s statement”

I have contact information for the editors where you can protest this miscarriage of justice.

On this subject a Muslim said on television the following: a Muslim if he stops believing and practicing will be removed from the community … despised. If criticism islam then he must be killed because he will be a traitor.Islam aspires to be the law, is pure tecocracy … nonsense.
Philo sophy says
First thing, Islam is not state, Islam cannot be state. As state is product of civilization, which is revolutionary process attributed to human being. Thus civilization is universal process, where as religion is faith based system a group of believers. They are not part of civilization but against civilization.
Now state should correct its constitution, and now allow any form of religious freedom that make them to create state within state.
Escriman says
Love how the second fellow changed the subject.
The first gentlemen, bet he leaves that faith one day, was talking about the results of leaving Islam. GThe second guy was talking about peoples living together.
haha, sheep only hear reassurance.
Eur says
The second bearded man is not talking about people living together, he’s talking about tribe. The companies governed by the. Islam are divided into tribes. It is normal, even nowadaun if you go to the Middle East people get Presents himself with the name of his tribe. Islam has never had to coexist in an industrialized society with social problems such as labor, trade unions, strikes … they have never fought for their rights, they have never lived in democratic societies. Islam is still tribalism.
St. Manuel II Palaiologos says
The dark irony of leftist universities and their indoctrination.
Norger says
Wait…isn’t this some twisted, perversion of Islam, not “true” Islam? The speaker surely must have been radicalized by the internet.
Allan Mandrowski says
The strange thing is that many muslims (like this fella) are brutally honest about what Islam is about and don’t shy away from saying things like that apostasy is punishable by death under Islamic law.
Yet the rest of the panel don’t ask further questions and our leaders tell us a fairy tale version Islam. I really don’t get it.
If a pious muslim tells you what his faith is about, who are we (the western leaders) to tell them what their faith is about? It’s ludicrous.
