The American Academy of Religion is conducting the “Confronting Islamophobia” workshop in Boston and charges scholars $40 to attend…. “Who are the casualties of Islamophobia?” will be yet another topic, but it will presumably not discuss the Muslim-on-Muslim terrorism occurring between the Sunni and Shiite sects of the faith.
Muslim-on-Muslim violence could not possibly be a topic, because the whole “Islamophobia” farce is centered around the scenario of European “colonialist” society oppressing perpetually “victimized” Muslims. To attempt to introduce into this workshop any truth about Islamic supremacism, human rights violations by Muslims, and Muslim-on-Muslim violence would shatter the victimology subterfuge that is central to the “Islamophobia” agenda. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation pushes that agenda aggressively, seeking to shut down any criticism of Islam, because such criticism is forbidden under the Sharia and is regarded as an unpardonable insult to the religious “dignity” of Muslims. From a declaration by the OIC on Islamophobia:
We strongly believe that defamation of Islam geared towards denigrating and dehumanizing Muslims, their beliefs and sacred personalities, insults the deep-seated religious feelings, undermines their dignity and violates their fundamental human rights thus threatening the multicultural fabric of the societies. We reject all acts and attempts of distortion to associate Islam with terrorism. Nothing could have been farther from the truth.
Shame on the American Academy of Religion, which has subjugated itself under the sharia.
“Workshop Will Teach Scholars To ‘Challenge Anti-Muslim Prejudice’”, by Rob Shimshock, Daily Caller, June 14, 2017:
An association of religious scholars are hosting a day-long workshop in the fall dedicated to teaching “knowledge, tools, and strategies to challenge anti-Muslim prejudice in the public square.”
The American Academy of Religion is conducting the “Confronting Islamophobia” workshop in Boston and charges scholars $40 to attend. The organization will hold the event on the eve of its 2017 annual meeting in November.
“Anti-Muslim bigotry and racism have risen to epidemic proportions in the United States,” insists the workshop’s description. The listing does not provide a single instance of such sentiments or acts, however, and also fails to mention the numerous hate crime hoaxes, several of which have involved fabrications of anti-Muslim hatred.
The workshop will focus on policies and “cultural factors” that create anti-Muslim bigotry, the intersection between Islamophobia and racism, and the “risks” of opposing Islamophobia. “Who are the casualties of Islamophobia?” will be yet another topic, but it will presumably not discuss the Muslim-on-Muslim terrorism occurring between the Sunni and Shiite sects of the faith.
Todd Green, a religion professor at Luther College and Homayra Ziad, an Islam scholar for the Institute for Islamic, Christian, and Jewish studies will jointly conduct the event. Green’s byline routinely features on The Huffington Post, and he has studied anti-Muslim bias in Europe for the Department of State. Ziad studies Indo-Persianate Islam and is writing two books on Islam and literature and Islam and humor.
“For a long time, I too thought that Europe’s Muslims would become like previous waves of migrants, gradually abandoning their ancestral ways, wearing their religious and cultural baggage lightly, and gradually blending into Britain’s diverse identity landscape,” said Trevor Phillips, a former British official who popularized the term “Islamophobia,” in 2016. “I should have known better.”….

GASLIGHTING AMERICANS BY CALLING THEM ‘INSANE’ = ISLAMOPHOBIA CAMPAIGN
Gaslighting is: The practice of brainwashing or convincing mentally healthy people that they are going insane or that their understanding of reality is mistaken or false.
History: The term “Gaslighting” is based on the 1944 MGM movie “Gaslight”.
“Gaslighting”: Gaslighting is a malevolent form of psychological manipulation in which intentionally false information is given to the victims in order to make them doubt their own observations, memories, thoughts and perceptions.
Gaslighting is a premeditated, malevolent manipulation, a calculated fallacy and a systematic, purposeful, methodical deception which deliberately changes or distorts facts, memories, scenes, events and evidence in order to disorient and to cause a vulnerable victim to doubt his/her sanity or perceptions of reality. This malicious manipulation of others is named after British playwright Patrick Hamilton’s 1938 stage play “Gas Light,” also known as “Angel Street.”
Genocide-Gaslighting: A premeditated, purposeful, conscious, calculated, careful, methodical, manipulative systematic denial of a genocide.
Definition of Gaslighting by Psychotherapist Ross Rosenberg:
Gaslighting is a highly manipulative covert interactional strategy that enables a person to gain power and control over another person by systematically and methodically brainwashing them into believing that they are personally, psychologically, physically and socially incompetent and undesirable. It begins with the implantation of a problem, weakness and /or mental health condition that either never existed or was only a moderate or benign problem.
By an array of manipulative strategies, the crafty gaslighter lures his unsuspecting victim into experiencing the symptoms of a problem or condition he insists the victim has, and of which the gaslit victim was not previously aware. Through a systematic manipulation of the victim’s external environment and mental health, the implanted gaslit ideation begins to take root and eventually manifests. When displaying the gaslit condition, the gaslighter over emphasizes its negative impact on the gaslit victim and on people with whom the victim might come in contact. Over time, the victim identifies with the problem and feels powerless to control it. The resulting feelings of powerlessness, which are often combined with fear, anxiety and paranoia render the gaslit victim powerless against the implanted gaslit condition. Feeling powerless, the gaslit victim becomes susceptible to the gaslighter’s plans to isolate him/her from others who could possibly expose the gaslighter’s nefarious plans.

I, too, wonder about the beliefs of the approx. “9,000 members who teach in some 900 colleges, universities, seminaries, and schools in North America and abroad”. Your remark made me think about what proportion of the AAR’s members are just materialists, i.e. people who believe that matter is the bedrock of the human being or who believe that matter is the bedrock of all existence. Would you care to wager a cup of coffee that materialists comprise more than 50%? Or that the materialists are dogmatically biased against understanding people who reject materialism?
It would be interesting to know also if the proportion of materialists among the staff and leadship is about equal to that of the members. And how do they study a religion which tacitly contradicts the assumption that it is a religion?
Take Islam for instance. It has several statements which should lead a person to suspect that it’s a flip-flopper. Here is why I believe this:
(P1) “There is no compulsion in religion.” (Koran 2:256) This is Islam’s own definitional claim about the word religion itself.
(P2) Hence, if there is compulsion in the Koran, then Islam is not a religion.
(P3) There is compulsion in the Koran, e.g. jizyah (9:29)
(C) Therefore, according to Islam, Islam is NOT a religion
C T says
“Hence, if there is compulsion in the Koran, then Islam is not a religion.”

The diversity trap is bogus. It hides the utopian attempt to make all cultures equal by removing any differences that measure them by any objective standards. But the net effect is to develop victimology
themes by unifying all the cultures as victims of stronger ones, but nothing else. And so, individual rights and liberties is no longer a concern nor a goal, as it has been by the american constitution, and culture.
Hence, we get by the leftist religion society here, the victimology meme, without a smidgeon of understanding of Jihad, without acknowledging anything about Jihad, or it’s theologic basis, nor it’s history.

When Palestinian Men Beat Their Wives, It’s Israel’s Fault? NGO Challenges Report by UN Diplomat
CNSNEWS | June 13, 2017
By Patrick Goodenough
An NGO representative at the U.N. Human Rights Council suggested Monday that incitement by Islamic preachers may bear a greater responsibility for Palestinian violence against women than Israeli occupation, to the evident displeasure of the session’s Egyptian chairman.
Skipping the standard protocol of thanking each speaker before moving onto the next one, Amr Ramadan told U.N. Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer, “I would like to say thank you, but I can’t – because I think that you need to respect this council more in the next days.”
Egypt’s mission to the U.N. in Geneva did not respond to queries by press time about the reason for Ramadan’s indignation.
It came after U.N. Watch challenged a report by a U.N. expert on violence against women, Dubravka Simonovic, which recurrently implied links between the Israeli occupation of disputed territories and the way Palestinian men treat women.
Noting that Simonovic’s report referred to a “clear linkage between the prolonged [Israeli] occupation and violence against [Palestinian] women,” Neuer asked her where the data was to back up the claim, as it did not appear in the report, he said.
He said she was essentially saying that, “When Palestinian men beat their wives, it’s Israel’s fault.”
“Is it right to continue infantilizing Palestinians, such that when a man in Ramallah beats his wife, we encourage him to say ‘Israel made me do it’?”
Neuer asked Simonovic, a Croatian diplomat, why the report did not include comparable data on violence against women in other Arab societies (that is, where occupation is not a factor.)
He also asked why the report had not explored in detail other possible influences.
“You make a passing reference to the influence of ‘tradition and culture,’” he said. “Do you mean Palestinian, Arab or Muslim tradition? You don’t say which, and don’t seem to be interested in this key factor in the Middle East.”
“Why did you fail to mention that official Palestinian TV regularly broadcasts Islamic preachers who tell the people how to beat their wives?” Neuer asked.
He cited as an example the mufti of Gaza in February 2016, quoting from the Qur’an and Hadiths, advising husbands on how to beat their wives in ways that will not attract police attention.
“While you find numerous indirect ways to blame Israel, how could you omit these direct forms of Palestinian incitement, for men to beat their wives?” he asked the U.N. expert.
After the chairman scolded the NGO for not showing respect to the council, Simonovic later responded to points made by member-state and NGO delegates.
On the point raised by U.N. Watch about Israel supposedly being responsible for Palestinian wife-beating, she said that “in each and every country, any man who is beating his wife is responsible – he is perpetrator of violence.”
At the same time, she said, “states have due diligence responsibility to prevent violence against women and to establish measures to prevent such violence; to punish perpetrators of violence and to provide compensation to victims.”
‘Gendered impacts’
Simonovic’s report refers to “the gendered impacts of the protracted conflict and prolonged occupation on violence against women.”
Israeli delegate Aviva Raz Shechter drew attention to the term.
“The recurring term of ‘gendered impacts’ of the occupation or conflicts remains extremely vague,” she said. “[The report] provides no evidence or explanation for many of the claims and serves as a shaky base for some far-reaching conclusions about Israel’s alleged responsibility for the violence that Palestinian women suffered in the hands of other Palestinians.”

billybob says
You have put forth the proposition that the Bible is the word of God ( it does not just contain it )…
he Bible is NOT the word of God! The Bible was written by men. Maybe some were inspired by God, and maybe some were just poets or historians of their times, and some were just putting to paper stories that had been handed down from oral traditions..
See, the problem with elevating the Bible to be being the “Word of God” is then you can believe it justifies any action you choose, depending on what verses you choose to follow. You can believe ridiculous notions like maybe the Earth is only 6000 years old, contrary to all evidence. You can be a small, mean, rigid person who hates everybody who doesn’t believe as you do. You can be an arrogant person who feels superior to others because you can quote the Bible on any occasion.
The test of any given verse in the Bible for a Christian must be this: Does it support the teachings and example of Jesus Christ? Then that passage only has merit to the degree.that it does. If it doesn’t pass that test, then it is only of historical interest, or literary interest, or even of no interest at all..
God does NOT speak through the Bible. God speaks through Christ, and Christ’s words are recorded in the Bible. Christ is the ONLY authority for Christians. Christians are “followers of Christ”, not “followers of the Bible”. There is no religion called “The Bible” as much as some would have it.
You have also stated “the only way to heaven is through the atonement of Christ blood”. I would say “All roads lead to Rome”, but now I am off on another essay and I think what I wrote above is quite enough for now. .
Mark Swan says
In our world, science and the Bible seem constantly pitted against each other, and it is true that there certainly are outstanding questions to be resolved. But many such conflicts are illusions, arising either from misunderstanding the scientific data or from failing to understand the truth of Gods word.
One example is the age of the earth. Must Christians put themselves at odds with the current theories of reputable geologists in order to accept the claims of the Bible? Just how old is the earth?
We can see very clearly in Scripture that the creation of the plants, animals, and mankind, itselfAdam and Evetook place around 6,000 years ago. The Bible gives us enough information concerning the ages of the patriarchs and their descendants to make this conclusion hard to dispute. On the origins of mankind in the Garden of Edennearly six millennia agoGods word is clear.
Just as clearly, nearly all reputable geologists looking at evidence of our planets age conclude that the earth has been in existence for a long time! Ask any geologist how old the Earth is, writes American geologist G. Brent Dalrymple, and the odds are very good that he or she will provide an answer very close to 4.54 [billion years] (The Age of the Earth, p. 305). And, while future discoveries may overturn this conclusion, 4.5 billion years is very consistent with other evidence of the earths age, such as that taken from meteorites and lunar material.
An age of 6,000 years is certainly a far cry from 4,540,000,000!
Still, those who have put the Bible to the test in their lives have learned to trust it as the very word of God. So, what does the Bible truly say about the age of the earth? Surprisingly, it says both much more and much less than many understand!
It is wonderfully and literally true that in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed (Exodus 31:17) and that this creation week took place nearly 6,000 years ago, just as indicated in Scripture. But, what many miss is that the planet Earth and the heavens around Earth were already in existence at the beginning of that week!
We read in the very first verse of the Bible, before the events of that week, that: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). As we will see, that initial beginning of the earth and the heavensbefore Adam and Eve, and before the animals and plants with which we are familiarmay have occurred long, long ago!
But notice carefully the second verse of Genesis, which many read right over, missing its clear implications, because of its usual translation: The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep (Genesis 1:2).
A simple statementbut it contains much more than meets the eye! The English words without form, and void are translated from the Hebrew words tohu and bohu. These two words, used together in Scripture just three times, indicate an uninhabitable wastelanda condition of desolation or destruction. Significantly, the other two passages where tohu and bohu are used togetherIsaiah 34:11 and Jeremiah 4:23indicate that such desolate states of ruin and devastation were brought about by sin.
Furthermore, scholars point out that the Hebrew hayahtranslated was in Genesis 1:2elsewhere can convey the idea of became. Later in Genesis, in the passage describing the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, we read that Lots wife became [hayah] a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). Certainly Lot had not married a pillar of salt; she had not always been so! Similarly, Genesis 1:2 could more appropriately be translated literally that the earth became a desolate wastethe Hebrew does not imply that it was created in that condition!
Putting these facts together, we can understand that God would surely have created the heavens and the earth with great order and beauty, yet that through some sinful circumstance they became desolate and devastatedruined and uninhabitablein need of renewal (cf. Psalm 104:30) before the creation of mankind! Indeed, Genesis 1:12 can accurately be translated: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. But the earth had become a desolation and a chaotic ruin, and darkness was on the face of the deep.
So, does the Bible describe any sin or rebellion against God, before Adams creation, that could have brought such chaos and ruin? Yes, it does! Scripture tells us what Satan had done before he met Eve in the Garden of Eden, seeking to lure her into sinning against God (Genesis 3:15). Gods word makes it plain that angels were present before the earth existed, and they shouted for joy when they saw its foundation laid (Job 38:67)!
Luciferwho became Satan the devilexisted at this time. Scripture describes this corrupted, sinful creature leading a prideful angelic rebellion (Ezekiel 28:1216; Isaiah 14:1214)a rebellion that Scripture indicates included a third of the angels (Revelation 12:4). Isaiah 14:14 describes this prideful beings desire to ascend above the clouds to take Gods very throne for himselfwhich implies that his assigned responsibilities were below the clouds, and therefore on the earth! Lucifer had the free will either to obey or to disobey God, and by refusing to carry out Gods will he became Satanan adversary to God.
As sin always does, Satans rebellion brought destruction and ruinin this case devastating the earth that had been his charge to prepare for Gods purposes. It is this chaotic and ruinous devastation, tohu and bohu, that we see reflected in the words of Genesis 1:2, and it is the miraculous six-day restoration of this planetto a state of beauty and wonder fit for Gods creation of mankindthat we see in the rest of Genesis chapter 1!
So, as we can see, there is ample room in the words of Scripture to recognize the very ancient age of planet Earth. The Bibles clear description of the creation of mankind, nearly 6,000 years ago, is not in conflict with its description of angelic activity occurring long before the Genesis 1:2 eventactivity long ago when the world had been entrusted to Lucifer and his angels for Gods purposes before the creation of mankind.
But exactly how long ago did this occur? How long did Satans rebellion last? Did the dinosaurs exist at this time? Was it billions of years agoclose to the scientists estimate of a 4.5 billion-year-old Earth? Or was it earlier or later? On these details, the Bible is silent. But there is no conflict between the words of Scripture and the general scientific observation of a very ancient planet Earth.
Truly, science reveals many mysteries yet to be solved. But we should never let the changing findings of sciencewhich are sometimes overturned entirely with the next discoverycause us to doubt what the unchanging God says in His word! The evidence of history and science, properly understood, will always agree with the word of God. As Jesus Christ declares: Your word is truth (John 17:17)!
