The mosque denies this claim. But there is no reason for Cynthia Nunez to lie about it, and no reason why it could not be so, because FGM is Islamic.
“Circumcision is obligatory (for every male and female) (by cutting off the piece of skin on the glans of the penis of the male, but circumcision of the female is by cutting out the bazr ‘clitoris’ [this is called khufaadh ‘female circumcision’]).” — ‘Umdat al-Salik e4.3, translated by Mark Durie, The Third Choice, p. 64
Why is it obligatory? Because Muhammad is held to have said so: “Abu al- Malih ibn Usama’s father relates that the Prophet said: ‘Circumcision is a law for men and a preservation of honour for women.’” — Ahmad Ibn Hanbal 5:75
“Narrated Umm Atiyyah al-Ansariyyah: A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to her: ‘Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband.’” — Abu Dawud 41:5251
“Attorney: Mosque paid doctor to perform genital cuttings on girls,” by Tresa Baldas, Detroit Free Press, June 14, 2017 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
A local mosque was paying a physician to perform female genital mutilation on young girls, an attorney serving as a guardian for the doctor’s children alleged in court Tuesday.
The disclosure occurred during a hearing in which the state is seeking to terminate the parental rights of Dr. Jumana Nagarwala, 44, of Northville, the lead defendant in Detroit’s historic genital cutting case.
Nagarwala’s attorney emphatically denied the allegation.
Nagarwala is accused of cutting the genitals of two Minnesota girls as part of a religious procedure, though prosecutors have alleged in court that she may have subjected up to 100 girls to the procedure over the last 12 years. Nagarwala is a member of a small Indian-Muslim sect that has a mosque in Farmington Hills.
According to guardian ad litem Cynthia Nunez, the attorney assigned by the court to look out for the best interests of the children, Nagarwala’s husband is the treasurer of the Farmington Hills mosque, and could face criminal charges himself involving allegations that the mosque was paying his wife to perform genital cutting procedures on young girls for years.
Nagarwala’s husband buried his face in his hands and sobbed in court Tuesday.
Nagarwala’s lawyer, Shannon Smith, adamantly denied the allegation that the mosque was paying her client to perform genital cutting procedures.
“That’s absolutely not true,” Nagarwala’s lawyer, Shannon Smith, said afterward. “The government has grossly overstated and misstated so many facts in this case … just to make it sound bad.”
According to Smith, the mosque never paid her client to perform any genital cutting procedures, but rather only reimbursed her for money that she had spent on food items for the mosque’s food bank program. She said that Nagarwala frequently bought items, such as bread, pizza and pop for the food bank, and that the mosque would pay her back.
“This case is not what they claim it is,” she said of federal prosecutors and state authorities.
Officials at the mosque could not be reached for comment. The Dawoodi Bohra sect has previously maintained that it does not support any practice that violates U.S. law and has urged its members to refrain from practicing any type of procedure that could be construed as genital cutting….
So far, authorities have identified at least eight alleged genital mutilation victims, including two Minnesota girls and four metro Detroit girls ages 7-11. They live in Troy, West Bloomfield, Farmington Hills and Livonia and are at risk of being placed into foster care if the state strips their parents of their parental rights….

Where are the lawsuits? Where is the FBI? State police? The police should get search warrants, lay charges, make arrests. The prosecutors should start the process of putting everyone in jail.
Shut these people down. Put them out of business. Tell Muslims that Sharia law CANNOT be practiced in the United States due to the CONSTITUTION and the CONSTITUTION will not be changed to ESTABLISH Islam as the national religion.
Muslims may as well move to Berzerkistan or accept that the US is a secular country and Sharia cannot be practiced there.
MacUalraig says
I second that.
john spielman says
the doctors who are guilty ( because the act of FGM is illegal and of no benefit to the girls) should be deported after serving prison time fro this vile assault
Diane Harvey says
Apparently Muslims are totally unaware that they are steadily losing the credibility campaigns. People are simply not believing them, and as time goes on, simply will not give them the benefit of any doubt.
And this situation is entirely of their own making. They lie, lie, lie.
Jayke says
I thought I read somewhere that FGM is symbolic and only involves a small needle prick.
Jayke says
I just remembered where I read it. It was on Breitbart:

Alan Dershowitz is helping the defense.
Anne Smith says
Even if they reduce it to a “pin prick” why on earth do they want to mess about with children’s genitals? It seems rather sick and perverted to do anything of this nature.
Perhaps the parents/guardians/ doctors who involve themselves in this nonsense should be sent for mental health assessment.
I totally agree that anyone who indulges in this perversion should be deported – without delay.
SV says
There are many forms including ritual pricks and infibulation, but all are illegal under the law.
gravenimage says
There is–theoretically–a form of Type IV FGM that just involves a mostly symbolic needle prick. Type IV is the catch-all for anything that is not Type I, Type II, or Type III FGM–the most common, consisting of clitoris removal, clitoris removal plus removal of the labia, clitoris and labia removal plus infibulation, respectively.
My understanding is that this symbolic needle prick form of FGM barely exists. And why would it? The whole point is to render women incapable of experiencing any sexual pleasure, so that they are less likely to stray from their brutal husbands.
A symbolic needle prick would not, of course, accomplish this.
Sickening that Breitbart, which is overall pretty good on issues of Islam, would perpetuate the idea that this is what FGM typically is.
somehistory says
Any woman should ask herself if she would like a “pin prick” in that location. I’d venture a guess that in a survey, all but the masochists would say “No.”
Robert Crawford says
“involves a small needle prick”
Like all of Islam.

Seriously — ask Ayan Hirsi Ali, or read her account of being forced to suffer the process.

Attorney: Michigan mosque paid doctor to perform genital cuttings on girls
………………………….
The Mosque should be shuttered, the Imam and whoever else was involved prosecuted. The “doctor” should lose his parental rights and face prosecution. Anyone involved who is not a citizen–or who is a naturalized citizen–should be deported after they serve their sentence.
SV says
Rescinding parental rights of the parents could set a very bad precedent regarding genital cutting, especially if some of the alleged surgeries were less invasive forms than what is done with male genital cutting. If genital cutting is grounds for termination of parental rights, how many millions of parents in the US will now fall under such guidelines? This could turn into a very large case of laws for one group and not for another (although only having female genital cutting as illegal is already discriminatory).
SV says
Do criminal parents lose parental rights from other violations? Bank robbery, assault, murder, etc? How many parents have committed infanticide or statutory rape and still maintain custody of their children?
somehistory says
Many lose. Many children of criminals who are female are raised by relatives while the women are in prison. some are placed in foster homes.. These monsters don’t deserve to have their children when they have sexually abused the children of others.
Robert Crawford says
Parents who perform illegal mutilations of their children are a bit different than parents who commit crimes against other people.
gravenimage says
Good grief. If a “doctor” has mutilated a hundred children, then he *should* lose parental rights.
PRCS says
Dr. Jumana Nagarwala is the mother whose children are in protective custody.
As if the issue isn’t ugly enough, her lawyer (and perhaps that of the other Dr.) are—as I understand it—-pushing the idea that FGM, as a religious practice—is protected by the 1st Amendment.
Some ppl might say—no, that can’t happen here.
Well, keep an eye on this case.
Anne Smith says
The doctor must be “struck off” and be unable to practise medicine any further.
SV says
How many doctors have performed circumcisions in the US?
Tetvet1968 says
It’s called gentile mutilation for a reason it’s not pin prick or a cutting its mutilation.
somehistory says
Raze the barracks and sell the land.to pay for the prosecution/investigation of these monsters. Have the attorney for the kids files civil suits. If they are little girls, they most likely have been the victims of their parents.
Terry says
To Mortimer ( whose comments I usually like) and others.
THE CASE HAS YET TO GO TO TRIAL.
People ( DEFENDANTS) are INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
So far, much seems to be smoke and mirrors and charges, denials and counter charges.
A trial (or a plea bargain) before penalties, if any, can (or should) be assessed.
And, I am not a Muslim lover. But i do like having MY RIGHTS, also, should I be charged with a crime, not be subject to jail time, or forfeiture before trial. (Excepting cases, that are fairly clear cut, like Reality Winner).
Arthur says
Where there’s smoke…
I mean, honestly, who gives food to a food bank and then asks for reimbursement? That’s money laundering, cut and dried.
somehistory says
I agree.
somehistory says
Usually, the defendant and lawyer plead *not guilty.* The *attorney* for this so-called doctor has not said she didn’t do what she did, but is claiming it has protection as a *religious rite*…
It will be up to the defense to *prove* this claim. Once a defense is declared…such as acted in self defense, or insane at the time of the crime, it is on the defense to prove what they claim.
The same is true here…the attorney is using a claim of religious exception to the law.
Robert Crawford says
“Innocent until proven guilty” only applies to the state. I’m permitted to come to whatever conclusion I deem appropriate.
Goddess says
FGM is the same as getting your dick cut off only even more painful because the clitoris is where all the nerves are. Do the planet a favor and blow these pigs all to hell.

This mosque needs to be shut down. And deport the FGM practicing doctors to Syria, I hear they are needed there by ISL.
Matthieu Baudin says
Oh how they choose their words to make an obscenity seem palatable.
FGM is Castration. The removal of the Clitoris of a girl is anatomically equivalent to the removal of the Penis of a boy. It is the most savage form of sexual assault against children and it leave them scared for life. We have chosen to eradicate slavery and we should now move quickly to eradicate the Castration of girls.

oh gee, when has a moslem ever told the truth about its filth to us?
Here is something that our politicians, media, academics, and even way too many religious prefer not to know about crapslam…
“One more time: it is a capital crime in Islam (sharia) for a muslim to teach another muslim anything about Islam that is incorrect AND it is obligatory for a muslim to lie to non-muslims when the goal is obligatory – like advancing Islam.
…
“The chasm between Islam and Jahiliyyah (gross ignorance/unbelief) is great, and a bridge is not to be built across it so that the people on the two sides may mix with each other, but only so that the people of Jahiliyyah may come over to Islam.” [Milestones, Sayyid Qutb]
UTT continues to encourage all readers to know, digest, and understand that there is no “version” of Islam which does not mandate war against non-muslims (jihad) until the entire world is under Islamic rule. (MY COMMENT: that means Sufi and Ahmadiyyas who keep telling us they are peaceful just use different tactics of war – most times – but not always)
There is no such thing as “radical Islamic extremism” nor is there a difference between “sharia” and “sharia law.”
All of this is a crafted campaign meant to buy time and keep people from focusing on the threat we face – Islam.”

I am surprised this was even found out. I am pretty confident that there are many more abuses of children with female genital mutilation that we can even find out in the “culturally tolerant” USA.
What a sick cult which can get away with everything with impunity.
What a strange times we live in. Poor children of Muslim parents.
