Maryam Namazie is a Marxist, which means that her opposition to Islam is just a matter of wanting to exchange one form of violent authoritarianism for another. She is a vicious Jew-hater who has spread “Palestinian” jihad propaganda. Namazie is also a liar, as she claims here that Pamela Geller and I have accused her of practicing taqiyya, and she has published an entire report defaming and libeling us in numerous ways.
None of this, of course, means that she should be raped, or that rape threats against her should go unnoticed. Facebook’s refusal to act on this is yet another example of its determination to implement Sharia blasphemy norms and silence all criticism of Islam, as Facebook’s Vice President recently assured Pakistani authorities that it would do. Jihad Watch’s referrals from Facebook dropped 90% in mid-February and never recovered: reporting about the jihad threat apparently does violate Facebook’s “community standards.”
And now Facebook is even tolerating jihadist threats against ex-Muslims.
What makes this outrageous is that Facebook controls so much of the public discourse today. As long as its influence remains so large, it has to be opened up to legal challenge.
“Facebook Says Rape Threat Against Ex-Muslim Activist Doesn’t Violate Standards,” by David G. McAfee, Patheos, July 14, 2017 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
Maryam Namazie, a political activist who frequently criticizes Islamism, received a graphic rape threat from a violent Muslim. Unfortunately, according to Facebook, the message didn’t violate any of their “specific community standards.”
I have received a lot of hate mail over the years, but this is something extraordinary. His threat is clear and specific… and disturbing. So, be warned.
This is violent and graphic, so keep that in mind.
Namazie shared some screenshots from the conversation on Twitter to protest Facebook’s censorship policies. She pointed out that pages get shut down regularly because they criticize Islam, yet the company seems not to care about graphic threats. This is something I have experienced, as well, so I’m happy people are finally paying attention to this double standard….
Peter Buckley says
Whatever your own opinions about Namazie’s politics, the fact is, for the UK at least, she represents the first generation of former muslims, breaking out even in countries which were thought to be virtually 100% muslim:
https://www.facebook.com/Exmuslims.ma
She and her colleagues are helping to break the back of Islam, and should be supported.
gravenimage says
No one should receive violent threats like this. I am not a personal fan of Namazie’s politics, but that is not an issue here.
BC says
Completely agree I have long supported her and her organisation. Mr Spencer and Pamela G would do well to meet with her and discuss their differences, whatever they may be. They should regard her as ally and fellow fighter against Islamism
Peter Buckley says
I believe her equivalent in the US is Sarah Haider. I have no idea what her politics are, and they don’t really interest me. Her mere existence is a “good thing”.
The point is, these people, more than anyone else, are breaking the back of Islam. Probably the best speaker on Islam in the UK is Douglas Murray. And he recognised this a long time ago:

Robert Spencer says
You have things the wrong way around. She attacked us gratuitously. If she wants to talk, it’s easy to find me. But let’s just say I’m not waiting by the phone.
Peter Clemerson says
Like BC, I support her financially because what she is doing is so much more important than her views of capitalism and Israel, with which I disagree. It is sad to see the courageous opponents of Islam such as yourselves at each others’ throats.

Fakebook’s ummah standards suck. Period.
utis says
With such a finely tuned set of “standards,” Facebook needs to make them explicit. If criticizing passages in the Koran or the Umdat al-Salik violates Facebook standards, yet a vicious, sick verbal threat on an individual does not, Facebook needs to describe its “standards” in detail.
And if Zuckerberg is almost literally kowtowing to Pakistan, won’t this eventually lead to banning women from Facebook? If sharias rule the day, even cyberspace sex-mixing will be haram.
Mark Spahn (West Seneca, NY) says
I am unfamiliar with Facebook. I would be grateful if someone would please explain the following:
[1] “Jihad Watch’s referrals from Facebook dropped 90% in mid-February”: What is a referral from Facebook?
[2] Facebook has “community standards”. Where can the text of these community standards be found?
[3] What is this community? How does one become a member? Is this a democratic community, whose standards are determined by majority vote? Are community members ever expelled, and if so, how?
Brit says
Facebook is one of the most , if not the most dominant photo/video/chat sharing sites. I am not a member but I have looked at some of the pages. Anyone can become a member. I dont know how their community standards work but Im almost certain its not democratic. I magine a referral from facebook is when someone who is currently on facebook clicks a link to jihad watch.
Verity Pink says
The post should be banned on the grounds of plain ordinary indecency, regardless of which faith community is or is not thought to be represented here. And Facebook should inform the Police, and give them any assistance needed in tracing IP addresses.

Facebook says Muslim’s rape threat against ex-Muslim doesn’t violate its “community standards”
………………………
What “community” is Facebook using–a Muslim No Go Zone?
So threatening to rape apostates is fine, but don’t dare say anything true about the savagery of Islam–Facebook does not allow that.
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
Facebook. Why would anyone sign up to a company that takes your personal info in order to create content to sell advertizing?
mortimer says
Maryam Namazie should not be subjected to these salacious death threats. FACEBOOK has a moral obligation to help the authorities locate anyone who makes DEATH THREATS… Such threats may be carried out.
Maryam Namazie has the right to lie and others have the right to expose her falsehoods. It’s a matter of time before she discredits herself. She will eventually discredit herself and then she will be dismissed by all honest people.
If you are in the public eye, the spotlight can be harsh, but truthfulness is the main weapon of everyone in debate.

Spot on, Mortimer.
Chad Miller says
This is typical of Facebook’s “community standards”.
I’ve dealt with them myself more than once and it’s a disturbing trend, but then what isn’t it when it comes to Leftist fruitcakes?
Andy says
From what I heard of facebook I’m glad I didn’t sign up to get it now.
No facebook for this guy. never had it, never will. I don’t want to be part of something that tries to censor the truth. Let people see and hear for themself all points of an argument and let them decide for themself.
STOP ALL CENSORSHIP Especially MOSLEM CENSORSHIP!

What standards? They don’t have any, They just have decided that anything they like is acceptable and anything they don’t like, doesn’t meet what they don’t have…standards.

Never booked my face….never want to. The site has shown me over and over, my standards are way too high to lower them there.

They are showing themselves for the lowlifes that they are.
Does any of that sound ‘holy’ to anyone?
It is vile, filthy, dirty, profane, and violent, threatening someone with a sexual assault of rape.
And the low lifes on facebook back it up because they are all birds of a feather now.
Sarah says
It’s always a bloody Mohammed, isn’t it? Given how they breed like flies in their miserable world, there are an awful lot of boys being born and apparently, an awful lot of them are all called Mohammed.
It must get very confusing for their calenders. They must have at least three ‘Remember its Mohammed’s birthday!’ reminder note’s on their calender each week. How exhausting. I’d hate to see giving gifts at Eid. It’d be a right confusing mess with 50+ presents scattered about, all tagged to ‘Mohammed’.
You’d have to treat it like some kind of Islamic Secret Santa. (Mysterious Mohammed? That just makes it more confusing) Generic gifts for all the Mohammed’s to share. That’s easy enough. You could just wrap up 50 shiny new machetes and stick a Mohammed label on them all. What a great way to cut down on time spent, shopping for presents!
Still, you’d save a fortune on clothing labels and such. There’s got to be a label company out there that sells Mohammed labels in bulk for these giant Muslim families with all their Mohammed’s spread amongst them. Wouldn’t want to take the wrong person’s jacket home after prayers, or grab the wrong Tupperware container after a lounge-room sermon session with your local JIhadi-preaching Imam.
I wonder what they do in Madrassas? Just create a Mohammed class and whack all the boys named Mohammed into one room and put the other boys in another? Otherwise, you’d have 60% of the classroom responding to you, whenever you announced ‘Mohammed!’
I’m frankly amazed that the trash underclass in the Muslim world hasn’t started riffing for uniqueness when naming their boys and using Demmahom or Mo-Hamm-Erd or Mow-Humm-Ahrd as ‘edgy’ alternatives. You know, to separate the special wheat from the chaff. The Lebanese should get right on Demmahom, that’s right up their alley, so classy and all. They can drape little Demmahom in solid gold chains and hand him a pistol and a Lambo. Just bringing along the next generation!
It’d sure be an easy to way for any Western government, should any of them grow a pair and decide to expel all Muslims – to find them all. Just check the welfare rolls for any Mohammed’s. Then follow the gravy train to find the numerous wives attached to each and the unending number of kids they’ve bred.
Since they all intermarry and enclave within their own communities in our nations – you could unravel every single one of them and flush them out of their hidey holes just by tracking all the Mohammed’s in the system. God knows just rounding up every person named Mohammed will take care of around 60% of all Muslim males in any given nation.
Yes, I’m bored today. Its Sunday and its freezing here in Melbourne. And frankly, I have no sympathy for any idiot who thinks Facebook is supposed to provide them with a safe space in their free platform.
What do these people who use Facebook think? That Zuckerberg (an Anti-Christ figure if I’ve ever seen one before) dreamt up Facebook and offered it to the world, for free, out of the kindness of his little shriveled black heart?
Get off social media full stop. There are numerous ways to spread the word around the world if you have a message that you need to get out, that do not include Facebook and Twitter. And for Pete’s sake, stop giving Zuckerberg all this free information about you – what do YOU think he’s going to do with it? Create unicorns and rainbows for everyone? Come on.
Social Media as a platform is a quagmire comprised of the very worst filth of human nature. Just stay the hell away from it. Its ludicrous to look to Facebook to act as some kind of moral guardian over us all (which is truly, the last thing we really need, if they were to ever gain that much control over our culture’s).
Verity Pink says
Reminds me of a joke I read a while back. Apparently there was a lady living in a run-down area who was interviewed by a reporter following the birth of her latest son.
Reporter “What are you calling him?”
Interviewee: “Wayne.”
Reporter “Is that a family name?”
Interviewee: “Yes, I’ve named all my boys Wayne. That way, when I want to call them in from playing out, I can just stand on the step and shout “Wayne!” and they all come in.
Reporter: “What about when you only want one of your sons?”
Interviewee: “Ah, well then I’d use his surname.”

I have been shut down on facebook simply for criticising the main stream media and their hypocracy regarding their lack of coverage of the genocide of christians in the middle east.
Facebook has no problem finding reasons in their “community standards” to shut down free speech but will not shut down a direct threat to the safety of a woman.
This shows just how pathetic facebook really is when a threat to someones safety is less serious than mere criticism of the main stream media.

My guess is that Zuckerberg is a head banger and is only trying to be a good widdle moslem with his blasphemy laws on facebook, and his care less attitude about threats to apostates.
Felix Quigley says
There are major problems with how Robert Spencer treats these issues.
As for the smears of Pamela Geller regarding Obama, and of Pamela and me regarding defending Serbian war criminals, Pamela Geller ably answers them here, and I have more on the Serbs and related matters here. For dishonest people and jihad-supporters, opposition to the jihad in the Balkans and skepticism about some of the charges made of Serbian war crimes equals support for Serbian war crimes. That is absurd and baseless.
https://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/08/maryam-namazie-antisemitic-supporter-of-jihad-against-israel-claims-to-be-anti-jihad-lies-about-spen
Serbia was attacked on all fronts including by Islamic Jihadists. It was entitled to defence by all means which it decided to use.
So what war crimes were the Serbs guilty of as Robert Spencer intimates?
Felix Quigley says
Robert Spencer writes in defence of the right to fight Jihad and Islam:
“None of this, of course, means that she should be raped, or that rape threats against her should go unnoticed.
As long as its influence remains so large, it has to be opened up to legal challenge.”
In describing what is happening Spencer is right. The massive facebook organization is organizing Sharia Law. Absolutely totally right.
But what to do? This is the critical question, just as critical as seeing the danger. Spencer does see the danger and given due credit for that. But his answer is at least inadequate and possibly dangerous.
I think that Spencer leads the jihad movement into certain defeat if he takes that route, and only that route of legal cases against the likes of Facebook, which he intimates. I am not of course opposed to the taking of legal action to defend the rights of free speech. Not at all. I would support each and every such action and fight it through the bourgeois courts.
But in the way that the bourgeois court system has been able to do way with its own system against Trump is a severe warning – that the way of Spencer as suggested above will lead the anti-Jihadist movement to certain defeat.
If the capitalist (bourgeois) system is proved to be rotten from the top to bottom as the war conducted against Trump shows then the capitalist system as a whole is rotten from top to bottom and must be removed, as painlessly as possible, but removed nevertheless.
This is the REAL meaning of Facebook promoting Sharia Law.
It poses socialist revolution not toying around with law cases. You see the war against Trump has proved that the whole system including the law courts is corrup tto the core. Only revolution is the answer.
