The Israeli government no doubt believes that by caving in, they have pacified an increasingly volatile situation. That is true in the short run. But in the long run, they have only reinforced the proposition that when “Palestinians” don’t get things their way, all they have to do is riot and kill some innocent Israeli civilians, and the Israelis will give them whatever they want. This will only lead to more, not less, jihad terrorism in the future.
Now that Muslims can carry weapons to the Temple Mount with impunity, how many more Israelis will be murdered?
“Israel removes all security apparatus from al-Aqsa Mosque after unrest,” Reuters, July 26, 2017:
Israel overnight removed all security infrastructure it had put in place this month at Muslim entrances to the Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem’s Old City, stepping up its efforts to diffuse political and religious tension.
The government had already dismantled metal detectors it installed in the area after the killing of two Israeli policemen on July 14, hoping the move would calm 10 days of often-violent protests that have put the city on edge.
But separate security measures, including closed-circuit cameras and low metal gates, were left in place, angering Palestinian leaders and the population, who have threatened a “day of rage” on Friday. Most Muslims have avoided entering the compound in the past two weeks, praying instead in the streets.
The stand-off at the holy site – the Haram al-Sharif compound, or the Noble Sanctuary of Jerusalem – has provoked some of the worst bloodshed in Jerusalem for years, with peace efforts having stagnated since 2014….
Amateur video shot overnight showed Israeli contractors dismantling gantries put up to hold security cameras and using forklift trucks to take away metal barriers from the marbled Lion’s Gate entrance to the mosque compound.
Witnesses said all the security devices had been removed and crowds of Palestinians gathered in the early hours to celebrate. Police spokeswoman Luba Samri confirmed the removal. “Everything that was installed after the attack (the killing of the two police officers) was taken down overnight,” she said….

Of course it works. Muslims use prayer as a demonstration of strength. They also do it in Europe, praying in the streets, occupying them, in the squares, in the parkings … it’s a way of saying … we’re here … Islam it’s here.We bring the theocracy that will replace your democracy … freedom is over.
R Russell says
But don’t forget that they are in touch with a spiritual entity when they pray – a totally different entity from the Judeo-Christian one.
They pray en masse to this spiritual entity and we wonder why Islam is so powerful?
It’s time for those who say they believe in the Judeo-Christian God to actually do something. Prayer and fasting is the way forward. I also place myself in this category.

good point BUT we must remember Jesus Christ IS the victor in the end, and will destroy with the glory of His appearing , all who oppose Him as King of kings and Lord of lords!

It s not the prayer by Muslims at Al-Aqsa Mosque but the demonstration of the power of SATAN through Islam. It is a sad day for Israel because it would encourage the Palestinians to be more aggressive in future. Temple mount should mean nothing to Muslims because Mohammad never flew to this site .He just concocted the story to cover his presence in private with UMM HANI .Sadly ,TRUTH is not to be found in the DNA of Muslims.
Michael Copeland says
Mohammed? Concocting a story?
How can you think such a thing?

I am so disappointed in this decision by the Israeli government to remove all security devices from this site. In my opinion, Allah only loves Muslims. In my opinion, Allah= Satan.
Frank Anderson says
I suggest for us, people outside Israel, to wait and see before going ballistic. Yes, Israel has “given back”, “retreated”, “caved in” on several occasions and has done some things that many would consider inappropriate. BUT I suspect the government is trying to show those who would surrender that appeasement does not work. Unlike the UK before WWII, Israel is prepared to deal with any eventuality. Wait and see.
PRCS says
I don’t know that’s their strategy. Maybe. After all, the ultimate test of this appeasement will be whether another violent jihad attack occurs as a result.
The big question: if Muslims do carry out another one, will the Israelis put those security measures back in place?
Frank Anderson says
PRCS This my opinion based on a long time friendship with many Jewish people and a substantial contact with Israelis. I think about the basic priority of Israeli defense-protecting its people. As an example look at how the engine is in front of the Merkava tank-to be used as additional armor to protect the crew. Look at the general quality of Israeli weapons and training. They recognize that there are about 6,000,000 Israelis, about the number of Jews in the whole US, to support a defense against 1.6 or so billion people who pray and swear every day to kill them. Each person is too valuable to risk lightly.
For example a few “security guards” in an extremely high risk position to “control” a mob with a hair trigger that again prays and promises every day to kill the Jewish guards. In Israel every young man and young women is required to serve in the military (men 24 months, women 18 months). I would not want my son or daughter surrounded by a maniac mob looking for an opportunity to kill them. I treasure the Presbyterian teaching that says all children are the responsibility of all adults, exemplified when the whole congregation stands as god-parents for the child’s baptism. Mom and Dad have the rights; but the rest of us have the duties.
I have seen and heard plenty from many speakers that the Israeli government is prepared to defend itself and its citizens. If you read the history of Israel you will see they have passed every test to survive 3700 years, and outlast, (what is it?) About 19 other civilizations. See, e.g. Jews, God and History. Do not confuse the Israeli government with Neville Chamberlain. You will be making a profound error. Most Jews, especially Israeli Jews, learned a strong lesson, vividly reminded every year, from the Holocaust. I urge that before going too far with “appeasement” accusations, watch and see how Israel handles any trouble. I think they mean it when they say, “Never Again!” Where Islam is rightly seen as a death cult, Judaism can be summed with the words “To Life”. Please consider my thoughts.
PRCS says
Not quibble, there.
But my post was in response to your suspicion that “the government is trying to show those who would surrender that appeasement does not work”
IMO, to show it doesn’t work would require additional violence, another attack, one in which someone would have to be injured or killed.
About that, color me skeptical.
Frank Anderson says
PRCS, you are skeptical with good reason. I can be in error. In the US liberal Jews (I know several of them)seem to want to give in to the Muslims and their collaborators at every opportunity. They refuse to face anything that looks like the truth regarding Muslim teachings. According to what I have read about 75 percent of US Jews vote for Democrats. In Israel I understand the reverse is true. I think considering Israeli actions by US Jewish conduct may produce errors. Let’s keep watching and doing what we can to help.
PRCS says
Yes. Let’s wait and see.
Thanks.
Dov Berrol says
I can’t believe that Netanyahu would have done this without a strategic understanding of the larger picture: covert alliances with Arab countries against Iran and Hizbollah and also the imminent Jewish mourning day of Tisha B’Av, marking the anniversary of the destruction of the first and the second Israelite Temples. The thousands of Jewish worshippers who go to the Kotel on this annual day of fasting and mourning (next Tuesday) could have been in danger by more Muslim violence. Israel may have some other high tech form of surveillance in mind – perhaps satellite surveillance that can detect arms stashed in Al-Aksa…or the Israeli cabinet may wait for another opportunity to install monitoring systems….with Arabs its always about “Arab Market Haggeling” – and maybe Israel knows better how to get what they need. The only error Bibi and his cabinet made was due to rushing into a response to the murders on the Temple Mount without patiently analyzing all options. In this case, patience and due diligence in designing a response to jihadi murder was really needed.

And now Jordan is demanding that Israel out the embassy guard who shot the two Arab assailants on trial before they allow the staff to return to the Israeli embassy building in Amman. I guess once you breach international conventions on diplomatic immunity without penalty, you might as well double down. Of course, Jordan having now taken an extreme and baseless position has its “national honor” at stake – so, in the bizarro world of international affairs, it’s up to Israel to “give” them something even where nothing is due.
There will be an explosion eventually with far greater casualties than would have been seen had Israel received Western backing and stood firm. Whatever happens, though, Israel will be blamed by the West for defending itself in a “disproportionate” manner or something.

I am an Israeli, Orthodox Jew. I have never been so disappointed with my government, and our security forces.
Our government is supposed to be right wing. I expect the army to have a strategy against the Arab Muslim escalation. But they do not have a strategy. That is why we have been suffering daily Jihad in the past two years.
Next week’s Tisha Be’av, the day we mourn the destruction of our temple, will be the saddest Tisha Be’av we have had for years.

The irony of the picture is that armed guards with loaded rifles must watch the Muslim worshippers at all times in case they step out of line.
Appeasement of supremacists does not work, because a supremacist wants it all, not just a piece of the pie.
Islam doesn’t recognize the concepts of pluralism or equality. Secular Muslims may want to recognize those things, but Islam is a political system built on supremacism and cannot change.

De, IN MY OPINION, only when they have something better in hand to take the present measures’ place. I predict Israel is far different from the generally gutless cowards you may be comparing. They know what is at stake and have no teaching that favors suicide or martyrdom.
FYI, there was a Rabbi whose name is generally recalled as Maimonedes, (sp?) who lived in the 800’s (?). The Rabbi is famous for many writings that teach and inspire. One that gets my attention is that he collected from the first five books of the Bible, The Pentatuch or Torah, 613 Mitzvot, (plural of Mitzvah) which are “good deeds”, “commandments”, “guides” for living a God oriented life. Then he ranked them. The highest is based on the passage, “Let there be life!”, and is stated by many, “All rules bend as necessary for the preservation of life.” Jews have not just seen but experienced tyranny, slavery, beatings and death for 3700 years. Israel exists as their place to stand and live. Watch and See!

“The nations are being gathered for the War of the Great Day of God the Almighty….Armageddon” (Revelation 13)
The nations are being brought together by satan. The devil has his agents in all the nations, bringing them together for Armageddon.
Also, Ezekiel foretold the gathering of the nations wishing to overtake Israel and “get much spoil” as they destroy. Persia is specifically named in this gathering.
Persia became Iran…but Persia also extended into the territory now occupied by Turkey, which lies to the north of Israel, the direction from which the “hordes” of “gog” will come against the Land. (chapters 38 and 39)
The world is on the brink of seeing a great battle, one in which Righteousness will prevail, no matter how many nations satan has under his evil control. Evil will be destroyed. The verses in Ezekiel and Revelation have foretold it.

What is going on here? Someone please tell me. This is embarrassing to those of us who strongly support Israel. Is Prime Minister Netanyahu going soft in his later years or was he never that strong to begin with?
We all make mistakes but this looks to be one compromise to violent Islamic terror after another.
I have PM Netanyahu’s slim booklet, “Fighting Terrorism: How Democracies Can Defeat Domestic and International Terrorists.” He is going against his purported deeply held principles when comes to refusing to accommodate (or cave into) terrorist’s demands.
dumbledoresarmy says
My own guess is that Jordan extorted the decision by using the Israeli embassy security guard as a hostage/ bargaining chip.
Who knows what Jordan threatened to do to that person? Netanyahu surely knows what Mohammedans in a Jordanian prison would do to a Jew that they got in their clutches.
Officially, the decision to remove the metal detectors had nothing to do with the fracas in Jordan and the Jordanian arrest of the guard.
Unofficially… *my* money is on Netanyahu choosing not to let a Jew be beaten/ raped/ tortured by sadistic mohammedans. An agonising decision, given that he *must* know that being seen to give in would whet the already-grossly-obscene mohammedan megalomania and triumphalism.

Jihad terrorism works: Israel removes all security apparatus from al-Aqsa Mosque after violent protests

Actually, that short run has turned out to be *astonishingly* short:
“Muslims riot, attack Israeli police at Temple Mount, at least 56 wounded”
https://www.jihadwatch.org/2017/07/muslims-riot-attack-israeli-police-at-temple-mount-at-least-56-wounded
The “peace” appears to have lasted less than twenty-four hours. Appeasement of barbarians *never* works.
Frank Anderson says
GI, as usual you are correct. A previous post today wondered if violence would continue. Of course violence will continue by a mob motivated by 1400 years of brainwashing. Putting a few security officers in harm’s way would do nothing beneficial to security and would instead invite overwhelming and murderous attacks on the few officers exposed. Perhaps 10,000 or more security officers could maintain order; but who would pay the price in “world opinion”?
I think it is safe to say there will be violence, and lots of it, as long as Muslims follow the Koran, Hadith etc. The only way to bring peace for Jews with Muslims is for the Jews to die. Otherwise there will be war. I predict, as a matter of my opinion, that the facts are well known and understood in the Israeli government. I don’t believe they will accept those terms. Always with greatest respect and best wishes.

I keep wondering exactly what kind of horrendous pressure was exerted upon him, not just from Jordan after the incident at the Israeli embassy, but from all the FOOLS in western countries (chief among them the USA) who are dancing to the OIC tune (or are themselves scared sh*tless of some threat or threats that, perhaps, has been made against them, behind the scenes, by sinister agents of the Ummah).
Lioness says
In no time those filthy bastards will have new outlandish demands and more reasons to riot. Israel will never appease this ugly mob, their whole agenda is to be forever offended about something. They do not even hesitate to kill their own in order to incite rage. They are really good at it, they had lots if practice.

Every cloud has a silver llning. The incident could change the situation vis-a vis American aid given to the PA:
“The monthly salary of approximately $3,000 that the Palestinian Authority will pay to terrorist Omar al-Abed could be a powerful spur to a pending US legislative bill that would slash aid to the PA over its “martyr payments” policy, a leading Middle East expert told The Algemeiner on Tuesday.
“This is definitely going to put wind in the sails of the Taylor Force Act,” said Jonathan Schanzer, an expert on Palestinian politics at the Washington, DC-based Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD) think tank.
Named in memory of former US Army officer Taylor Force, who was murdered in a Palestinian terrorist attack in Tel Aviv in March 2016, the act, if passed, will place severe restrictions on American aid money to the PA until it ends both incitement to terrorism and the “martyr payments” policy”
