“Experts said the attack — Boko Haram’s bloodiest this year — underscored the persistent threat it poses, despite government claims the group is a spent force.”
The Nigerian government also vowed to defeat Boko Haram by the end of 2014. And by the end of 2015. And now it is a spent force that just murdered 69 people.
“Boko Haram ambush death toll hits 69,” AFP, July 30, 2017 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
KANO: At least 69 people died in a Boko Haram ambush of an oil exploration team in north-east Nigeria, as three men kidnapped by the jihadists made a video appeal.
Experts said the attack — Boko Haram’s bloodiest this year — underscored the persistent threat it poses, despite government claims the group is a spent force.
“So far the death toll stands at 69,” said an aid agency worker involved in the recovery of bodies after the attack in the Magumeri area of Borno state on Tuesday.
The worker, who asked not to be identified because he was not authorised to speak to the media, said 19 soldiers, 33 civilian militia and 17 civilians were killed.
“The last body was recovered on Friday in the bush in the Geidam district of neighbouring Yobe state, which is several kilometres from the scene of the ambush,” he said. “It shows the victim, who had gunshot wounds, died after trekking a long distance. There could be more such victims in the bush.”
Another source with knowledge of the rescue operation gave the death toll as “70 or more” and also said it was unclear whether all the victims had been accounted for.
The attack hit Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) staff.
“It’s a confirmation of the boldness and reassurance that Boko Haram has managed to gain over the last six weeks,” said Yan St-Pierre, from the Modern Security Consulting Group.
“They have been attacking more and more military outposts and more military convoys. For them to go after NNPC personnel just shows they don’t fear any military reprisal.
“Basically they have managed to gain enough resources, enough material, to plan ambushes targeted towards high value targets.”…

Nigeria: Muslims ambush oil exploration team, murder at least 69

I have heard plenty of stupidity suggesting that Boko Haram was no longer a real threat. Tell the families of these victims that…

Boko Haram means, essentially, “Western education is a sin”. It would appear that oil exploration is also a sin, a belief that, strangely enough, aligns Boko Haram with quite a few Western environmentalists. Maybe these jihadists will be invited to the next international conference on global warming, where one of their experts could present a paper: “Reducing greenhouse emissions by slaughtering geologists” – seminar attendance by invitation only.

Excellent! In our crazy world it might well come to pass.

The truth is, satan the devil has great anger, and he is inspiring his human children to engage in these murderous rages. boko haram is especially evil in their demonic depravity.
Saying they are declining, when they have not lessened any of their murderous ways doesn’t help anyone. The truth always comes out. It’s akin to trying to keep from being bitten by a rapid dog by holding its lips shut. The fingers give out, and the idiot holding the dog is bitten. No one is helped by trying to hide the obvious.

It’s so un fortunate, this has been going on for some while, even in the northern part of Nigeria CRK (Christian religious knowledge) is not allowed to be taught, they have virtually removed the subject and merged it with Islamic studies,so what do you expect when they are not shown the light, they have no choice but to oppose western knowledge.
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
Was this before or after they surrendered in large numbers to the Nigerian army? lol
Proof that there is lots of hokum coming out of Africa. For example, there is a burgeoning Mohammadin slave trade in the Sudan (actually, in much of east Africa), has been for a while now. And the MSM has only just started talking about it.

They’re like rabid dogs.
What is the benefit of this ambush? Aside from merrily slaughtering more innocent’s in the name of Allah, that loving, peaceful, super duper God they love so much?
Is it that these uneducted primitive’s actually want to turn the nation away from oil exploration – and thus the resources and wealth and opportunities it will provide for Nigeria?
it kind of makes sense. They are literally terrified of educational standards that dare to teach children anything other than by rote babbling of their religion, in a language most of them cannot read, write or speak. They must understand that by violently preventing ‘Western education’ they are preventing forward progress. So trying to prevent oil exploration would, logically, be one of their aims given their actions.
They really want to make sure Nigeria lives as close as possible to a state that mirrors the Arabian desert sands of the 6th century, don’t they?

Sorry, a rather ironic typo.

The question is how Boko Haram gets its arms. Once the Nigerian army discovers the source of the weapons, they can cut it off. Why have they not done so?
Jerry says
It is because they must not do so, not that they can’t cut off their arms’ supplies. It’s all a plot – to Islamize Nigeria. The Nigerian army even leak intelligence information to book harm.
Jay says
Lay waste to the enemy earlier rather than later, or this is the result. Don’t be so concerned about how it looks. Wipe out Boko Haram down to the cinder blocks.

The Western oil companies screwed the pooch in the ’40’s when the Saudis nationalized the oil fields there. They should have burned the fields and let the Saudis figure out how re-start the fields. But, that’s hard to do, I understand. The dollar reigns supreme.
Same issue in Nigeria and the other African states. It becomes the root of the issue, why didn’t/can’t the Africans develop their resources themselves, without outside help? -DUH…. Same mentality that drives the Boko Haram to attack an oil exploration team, sacrificing economic progress for an ideology. I guess they figure they can always steal more arms and supplies.
And, the UN will always chip in with more aid, along with the insane Western countries….

The Government of Nigeria is not telling the truth to the world on Boko Haram. This group is still being nursed for future use,as was done. Why should we still have to be escorted by the military when going through some areas in our country, when you told the world Boko Haram have been defeated?
Baucent says
The north east of Nigeria is of course Boko Haram’s back yard, so an oil exploration team out in the bush was always going to be a soft target. How many soldiers were with them, 19? Not enough by far. The Nigerian Army seems to have never the expertise nor capability to finally finish BH off. Rather like the debacle siege still going on in the Philippines.
Anne Smith says
Sarah’s analysis is spot on. Such a pity today’s politicians do not have the same insight or even the intelligence to see what Boko Haram ane their brothers in evil, Daesh, are up to.
Winston Churchill, in his book, The River War, had it summed up succinctly.
“Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the faith: all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.
Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.”
Robert says
Boko Haram = stone age subsistence existence through force of violence.
They want people to return to a state of existence where everyone barely survives, without technology, industry, culture, etc.
John A. Marre says
Islam is the worse disease to affect Black Africans. Islam is violent and hateful. It brings out the worst in people, and then goes even farther into perversion. It encourages violent reactions to all perceived insults. It prevents people from learning the basics of civilization, such as math, literature, science, art, music. It is responsible for the miserable lives of millions of Black Africans.

How come this isn’t in the regular news? This should be a near front page article.

I believe the current president of Nigeria is a muslim. He was expected to deal more effectively with islamo-terrorists. Evidently, that was by hiding them, probably, as the commenter above mentioned, to use them for his own ends.
As usual, there is the silence of inter-galactic space from BLM, MSM and pope “What, me worry?” Francisco.
Baucent says
The President is actually of the same muslim tribe of cattle herders that regularly attack Christian farmers in the north of the country, usually with arms supplied by Boko Haram. In these African countries Tribe and Religion come first. Nothing much will improve under the current President.
