“Of all the tyrannies of humankind,
The worse is that which persecutes the mind.”
-John Dryden
Facebook recently blocked me because I used an expletive to describe Omar Khadr, the convicted jihad terrorist (still a Canadian citizen) who just received 10.5 million dollars and a public apology from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Of course, it’s not socially acceptable to use profanity, but when you’re Irish-Canadian and you are overwhelmingly displeased with your government’s bizarre sense of charitableness toward Islamic terrorists – and their equally shameless stinginess toward Canadian Armed Forces personnel – it’s not always easy to mind your tongue.
As it turns out, Facebook is more offended by angry statements about Islamic terrorists than by the presence on Facebook of their supporters, and their overtly insulting statements about Jews and Christians. One is permitted to denigrate Jews and Judaism and Christians and Christianity on Facebook, even while Jews and Christians are being murdered indiscriminately by Islamic terrorists, but Heaven forbid that one should ever write out on one’s Facebook page the identity of those who have committed these murders.
We have the “freedom of speech” in Canada – excluding criticism of Muslims and the religion of Islam. For such imprudent remarks, Canadians can now be dragged into court by the Human Rights Commission, and their lives and reputations ruined. Patriotic Canadians such as Ezra Levant are fast becoming familiar with the litigious political environment Mohandas Gandhi at one time bravely suffered. In Gandhi’s words, “An unjust law is itself a species of violence. Arrest for its breach is more so.” We are now commanded by the powers that be (supported by a wide range of politicians and journalists, the conservative-minded included) what to think and what not to think and who we may like and who we may not publicly dislike, even while hard-working and patriotic Canadians, especially our Jewish Canadians, are publicly and insouciantly calumniated from the podiums of our universities and mosques. Anything for those who toe the Leftist line of hating “Zionist Jews” and Israel, voicing adoration for our terrorist-become-poster boy for all accomplished terrorists returning to Canada (Omar Khadr), and reporting all suspected “Islamophobes” to the HRC.
In his novel Every Man Dies Alone, Hans Fallada wrote of Nazi Germany and the political dissidents of his generation who chose to remain silent: “They had failed to understand that there was no such thing as private life in wartime Germany. No amount of reticence could change the fact that every individual German belonged to the generality of Germans and must share in the general destiny of Germany, even as more and more bombs were falling on the just and unjust alike.” This is what many Canadians don’t perceive about the direction this country is headed under the leadership of Justin Trudeau: we are all about to share a ignoble destiny with this grossly imprudent Prime Minister.
Even if you secretly oppose Canada’s pro-Islamic/pro-Iranian movement within the Liberal Party of Canada, the rest of the world will eventually presume that all Canadians as friendly toward terrorists and consent to their brutal methods and religiously driven, imperialistic designs for the Western world. As a barnacle fastens itself to a boat, so this stigma has already fastened itself to the Canadian identity, and no amount of apology, even from our stammering and often lost-for-words Prime Minister, can ever redeem us from such a grievous reputation.
Rousseau wrote, “Coercion created slavery, the cowardice of the slaves perpetuated it.” Canadians seem to have quietly and blithely accepted the Trudeauian idea that our country is to become a beacon of multiculturalism to the world. The problem I have with this idea is that many Canadians have never accepted or condoned that this insalubrious idea should become the basis for our “national identity.” Another problem I have with this idea is that every country wherein this multiculturalism concept has been actuated, that same country (especially in Western Europe) is now disintegrating into chaos and anarchy as a consequence of willfully insular Muslim communities that are unwilling to assimilate and adopt fundamental Western societal mores.
In his book Sharia versus Freedom, Andrew G. Bostom expounds upon surveys revealing how much more popular in America are those “sharia compliant mosques promoting jihad.” “Those are the hard data that make plain why the ‘see no sharia in America’ mindslaughter redolent across the political spectrum among our policymaking, academic, and journalistic elites is so dangerously delusive.” The same can be said of Canada’s elites and the “mindslaughter” they are now inflicting upon all those Canadians who, even during Pierre Trudeau’s two deleterious terms as Prime Minister, openly and loudly opposed his insane anti-nationalist, globalist policies. Christopher Hitches says it best: “The very multiculturalism and multiethnicity that brought Salman [Rushdie] to the West, and that also made us richer by Hanif Kureishi, Nadeem Aslam, Vikram Seth, Monica Ali, and many others, is now one of the disguises for a uniculturalism, based on moral relativism and moral blackmail (in addition to some more obvious blackmail of the less moral sort) whereby the Enlightenment has been redefined as ‘white’ and ‘oppressive,’ mass illegal immigration threatens to spoil everything for everybody, and the figure of the free-floating transnational migrant has been deposed by the contorted face of the psychopathically religious international nihilist, praying for the day when his messianic demands will coincide with possession of an apocalyptic weapon. (These people are not called nihilists for nothing.) Of all of this we were warned, and Salman was the messenger. Mutato nomine et de te fabula narrator: Change only the name and this story is about you.”

If Americans want to do something about the Facebook policy you must contact the FEDERAL TRDE COMMISSION (FTC). The Federal Communications Commission has no jurisdiction over Internet web page content. The number for the FTC is: 877-382-4357. If enough people will react and do something then something might be done. But it won’t happen through just complaining about it.

As Canadians, we collectively have always been reticent to loudly demonstrate our likes or dislikes at the political level, almost as it was bad manners. As I watch and listen to what is happening these days I have a sensing that that may well change. Even the quietest and cutest dog, if backed into a corner and continually tantalized, will eventually react with a passion. Of course, at the time, there are those that will blame the dog and not the individual who caused the dog to react that way. History has shown us that, as the dog will eventually do, many times populations who reach a point of complete exasperation can and do react. The result is not pleasant, but it appears that there are those who achieve power and immediately lose track of both reality and loyalty — a very dangerous happening. Only time will tell, and I will not witness it, but it appears to me that there is a high degree of public anger bubbling just under the surace which could well cause another repeat of history — and for the same reasons.

Justin Trudeau, in my opinion, is an ignorant fool and that makes him a danger to a secular democracy like Canada. I can’t wait for the next election!

You think Canada will elect a conservative the next election? Good luck!

Actually, Canada had Stephen Harper before this–he was pretty Islamo-savvy. I envied Canada during the Obama years.

There is a groundswell of anger growing under the surface in Canada at this current Trudeau government, its insane policies and appeasement of Islam and its total disregard of the calls for killing of jews and others from the mosques and on the streets.
Justin Trudeau, like most other dictators, er, social justice warriors, believes that his view of the world is sacrosanct and any opposing views must be immediately silenced with shouts or violence. This will eventually be his downfall, we hope in 2019, when our next federal election occurs.
He MUST go or there will be a revolution in Canada.
