“In the arena of human life the honours and rewards fall to those who show their good qualities in action.” — Aristotle
Khadija Khan’s article in Gatestone Institute titled “Hero Imams” has become the latest proverbial light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel story in regard to the modern-day bane of Islamic terrorism. Khan writes: “More than 60 Islamic leaders and imams — from France, Belgium, Britain, Tunisia, and of different Islamic faiths — in a move that may be unprecedented, are touring Europe to denounce Islamic terrorism and to pay homage to the victims of terror in Europe by visiting many of the sites of terror attacks.”
When I first noticed the story, or should I say the title, I was momentarily encouraged. When was the last time anyone heard of imams – more than 60 imams! – publicly condemning Islamic jihadists for their terrorism and savage zeal? Unprecedented. We have heard only from those who are encouraging and “radicalizing” Muslim youth. Pro-jihad icons such as Anjem Choudary and Linda Sarsour we hear from far too often, the former boasting that the West will someday be ruled by a caliphate and subject to sharia law, the later shamelessly proclaiming jihad against America’s President Trump.
There is a Jewish proverb which states that, “A little folly outweighs much wisdom and honour.” Choudary and Sarsour represent the irreversible destruction (read folly) Islam the religion has obtruded on the world, especially on the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The “hero imams,” conversely, represent the almost undiscernible measure of humaneness and sanity adverted in Islam’s tumultuous history. Regardless of all the sophistry and apologetics presently employed in defense of this religion, the Islamic jihadists continue to obstruct the efforts of the “hero imams” as they seek to engender “the trust of those in the West who are justifiably angry about the recent wave of terrorist attacks in United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Israel, Germany, the United States and across much of the world.” Sadly, to date, especially for the Muslims who bear the brunt of this injurious ideology, the good of Islam is far outweighed by the bad.
It’s immensely ironic to read in the newspapers about Muslim clerics reporting “hate crimes” to the police. This is a particular group of religious who revel, shamelessly, in denigrating Jews for being Jews and the State of Israel for its very existence in the Middle East. There was a report in the Montreal Gazette this past July 17 about the Jordanian Sheikh Muhammad ibn Musa Al Nasr proclaiming that the Jews were “the worst of mankind” and that he hoped that Muslims would “slaughter them on Judgement Day.” In a recent article in the Jerusalem Post, it was reported that an Egyptian-born American Muslim preacher, Ammar Shahin, gave a sermon at the Islamic Center of Davis California during which he reminded his audience, according to the Post, that “all Muslims, not only Palestinians or Syrians, will be called upon to kill all the Jews…” According to Mr. Shahin, who holds a B.A. in Islamic studies and is presently “an instructor of the Zidani Islamic Institute which teaches Sunni Islam to the West,” this slaughter will also take place on Judgement Day. He is passionate, as he related to his audience in the same sermon, that Al-Aqsa Mosque be liberated from the “filth of the Jews.” Apparently even a B.A. in Islamic studies doesn’t teach Muslim clerics to comprehend the common principle that hate begets hate.
Maybe Emerson was right: “People who know how to act are never preachers.” I’m now convinced that the more than 60 imams who are apparently publicly denouncing Islamic terrorism are too little and too late. They are a barely audible and emasculated voice compared to the far greater number of Islamic clerics who are either silent on the issue of terrorism or, even worse, like Linda Sarsour and Anjem Choudary, are boisterously advocating its utilization for Islam’s religiously desired end, namely universal rule. Those who “preach” violence against Jews and Christians, especially while living comfortably, courtesy of Western democracies, should not be surprised or offended when they are refused the honour and rewards meted out and falling to others who have a reputation for showing their good qualities in action. And opposing those Muslim clerics who counsel their congregants and their children that they should hate me and my children simply because we are not Muslim is not a crime.

Any bets how many –should their names be revealed- will still be alive after (giving time) say Nov 21, 2017?
I doubt if all 60. Perhaps 10 or 15.
Perhaps a follow up, as they are murdered by their brethren.
HOWEVER, I WISH THEM WELL- AND WOULD HOPE THAT THEY CAN SUCCEED.

It will be interesting to see what parts of Muslim scripture they point to in order to support their positions and how they explain the concept of Naskh or abrogation (if it ever actually is mentioned).

That was my first thought as well, along with are they actually denouncing the violence taught in the koran and the example of Muhammad.
If not they might just as well sit at home and condemn anyone who speaks against the jihad.

Perhaps to paraphrase your ‘fruits’ comment – How about ‘ As ye sow, So shall ye reap’ – it is brainwashing in the extreme for ANY of us to allow the mosques to ‘educate’ young people ( not Muslim by CHOICE I hasten to add!) by the constant daily inculcation into Islam – with all of the hate that it teaches and PRACTICES? AND What is so evil – they will never ever have a peaceful opportunity to unfettered themselves, because by so doing they are ‘fair game’ for any other Muslim to murder them without question. Isn’t it a great world out there Haji? SICKENING!

I’m sure an expurgated 5:32 will be in there and like most of the rest of world 5:33 will simply be ignored.

I am looking forward to the day when some bright entrepreneur manufactures a white on red flag displaying both the Arabic and English versions of Sura 5:33. Now, THAT would make good reading and would ensure that the Muslim Obama has his Sura 5:32 thrown back in his taquiyya face. Remember, it was MY idea and I will be claiming a percentage from sales which of course I would immediately donate to……JUDICIAL WATCH,, I hereby promise. (c) Paul F Austin
Demsci says
yes, I know what both of you are talking about. A president of the US explicitly told the world that a core principle, value, tenet taught in the Quran was;
That if someone killed on innocent human, it was as if she/ he killed all of mankind”. And “if someone saved one, it was as if she/ he saved all of mankind”
this was a lie, in that that is NOT an Islamic value, tenet as Obama portrayed it. At best Obama was deceived, at worst he too committed taqiyya.
But …. let ignorants or liars fall into their own trap. Accept their interpretation. But the point should always be made that we know of a much more logical AND widespread interpretation of these words in the Quran, verse 5,32, in combination with verse 5;33. Let us lie too.
Because the biggest lie Obama told that day was that even if his interpretation was valid, that it was the ONLY and CLEAR interpretation of that verse. When clearly, even if such an interpretation were valid, it was NOT the only valid interpretation of that verse, as he presented it. And thus, even when TWO interpretations are both valid AND widespread, that makes Islam not CLEARly as noble as he tried to convince, but UNCLEAR, confusing on that point.
It should not be too hard to tell the world of the contradiction between the interpretation of a president and that of hundreds of millions of Muslim leaders and followers.
Paul F Austin says
Demsci – a nice piece! But…….as for getting Joe Public to start delving into the multiple translations or interpretations of the Koran – or more importantly giving a damn about what they mean for non-Muslims – I am loath to point out that good ole Joe (the voter!) does not give a fig! In the world of today (which is where I live!) all the subtleties of Koranic interpretations are totally irrelevant in his deeply complex world of football, soccer, iPads, burgers, seeking a ‘supplier’ of ‘recreational substances’, tax calculations and all the other IMPORTANT elements of the sublime nature of his existence. Never forget we give this creature a VOTE. To this innocent soul we bequeath the decisions for the future of our ‘culture’ and its perilous journey for the survival of our freedoms. As for elections. Do YOU trust him to make those vital decisions on YOUR behalf? I find that quite Rowlingish, to coin a phrase. What we need in the West are a couple of dozen Dictatorships – you know, the ones where half a million souls are paid to turn up (replete with hoods and masks) to march in unison to a given point to raise their banners (provided by our sweet Dictator!) smash a couple of hundred top-of-the-range vehicles, destroy a few Pharmacies (for ongoing supplies of said ‘recreationals’) and torch a dozen or so Wallmarts – NOW! THAT is what our current breed of inbreds need – clear aims and targets which they can identify with without engaging one single brain cell. What the hell do they need a vote for? Those they vote for don’t invoke their promised aims and manifestos in any case. SO! Don’t give him a vote or a Koranic conundrum. Give him something he can more easily identify with – a Molotov Cocktail – an old table-leg – any destructive tool. THEN he can wander home and see the second half of the VITAL ball-game, you know where he can make those meaningful decisions which he can discuss with his buddies – and arrive at decisions he is able to make in a drunken state prior to rendering his wife senseless with his residual dregs of masculinity – what he truly craves is not having to make those complex decisions for himself – what he craves is to be led by Mr Murdoch and his fellow felons into a Utopia where decisions of great import are decided in the boardrooms of the multiple Dictatorships of the NWO. But, don’t bother to explain to him what NWO means, after all if he is unable to read or to spell ( having only had twenty or so years at UCLA) then how do you expect him to interpret a missal written in a cave fifteen hundred years ago? Be reasonable Demsci, be reasonable. Now, from the cut of your jib – I detect that YOU might well be Dictator material. Go for it!
Demsci says
For better or worse, I am a through and through patriot for applied democratic values, tenets and laws. I see rule of law, separation of church and state, honest elections, freedom of speech, max. Reasonable autonomy of the individual, as the core of a framework of an ideology, worth to die for. It’s been around since the 18th century enlightenment. And we need to rediscover and re-cherish it. It is a much better societal system than Islam’s.
Most successful societal system in history of mankind, most compatible with our potential technological future, which certainly would astound many people were they able to look in the future.
Because democracy and the rule of law, freedom of speech, honest elections, are also about control of the powers that be, and that control is what dictatorships like caliphate lack. Giving them, through new technology, unprecedented uncontrolled control and power over all their citizens, whose privacy will not be respected.
regardless how dumb or smart or interested of drunk large portions of our population are, IMO there is as yet no better system.
But, what a colorful and yes, recognizable picture you painted of the “simple man”.
Paul F Austin says
We don’t need ‘explanations’ – we only need to read the Koran as it is taught to EVERY Muslim child – and terrorism by Muslims is explained in detail, together with accompanying instructions. They tell us that the Koran has never changed AND NEVER WILL. In which case it is plain to all including the Courts that the Koran and all who teach it are hate – preachers and ought to be prosecuted under the law in every non-Muslim country. No mystery. No excuses. No doubt. And NO defence. Ho-Hum!

Agree with P. Austin. The Jew hatred in Koran and hadiths should be brought into courtrooms and shown to be incitements for genocide, thus rendering the Koran and hadiths banned literature in many countries.
Paul F Austin says
Mortimer – thank you. I can see now the legions of (dare I say it?) crusading newspapers and the media queueing to take up the cause and expose the iniquity of the cowards who defend this evil cult (of which there appear to be around one hundred variations – one wonders whether they each and ALL have battalions of warriors ready to murder for THEIR cause? There are certainly in the region of a billion or more to recruit from.
Johnny Cuyana says
mortimer, agreed: exposing the evil barbarity that is the KKKoran and sunnah, is just the beginning, and, as such, is a MAJOR part of the challenge facing the West and all other “non-believers”. Further, I will combine my responses to this article and your comment in my following words:
[1] If indeed, these “hero imams” are heroic [in the Western sense of the word], then I am of the camp of those which wish them well and will do my part to support them;
[2] That being said, however, color me VERY skeptical; [Trust but verify … and verify again and again.]
In the meantime, by good freedom-loving humanity, the following “ELEPHANT HERD in the room” items, regarding this evil death cult, needs to be recognized, shouted out loud and addressed:
[3] the death cult muhammedans NEED to — they MUST — explain how their EVIL [insane?] unholy prophet —
a dedicated warlord, torturer, murderer, enslaver, conqueror, misogynist, pedophile, etc — deserves anything other than derision and condemnation;
[4] the death cult muhammedans NEED to — they MUST — explain how their EVIL [insane?] unholy prophet —
a dedicated warlord, torturer, murderer, enslaver, conqueror, misogynist, pedophile, etc — is regarded as the perfect man who must be emulated in all ways;
[5] the death cult muhammedans NEED to — they MUST — explain how their EVIL barbaric religion, or any notion, place or thing associated with it, is in any way holy and why it deserves anything other than derision and condemnation;
[6] the death cult muhammedans NEED to — they MUST — explain how their EVIL barbaric religion justifies —
in fact, MANDATES — DEHUMANIZING ALL non-believers [KAFIRS] and rationalizes all out war against the same … until all KAFIRS have been conquered and made to submit to this death cult and its KKKaliphate.
In view of the above, it MUST BE recognized that this ANTI-HUMAN [ANTI_FREEDOM] evil religion, which, fundamentally wishes to CONQUER, ENSLAVE and/or MURDER all things Western, and, therefore, the entire Western portion of the World must reject entirely this evil religion and ALL of its adherents. As such, this evil religion and its followers have NO PLACE — spiritually, physically or otherwise — in any part or area of Western culture.
Paul F Austin says
Perfectly reasonable clutch of statements and points. The trouble we face is the utter COMPLACENCY of ‘leaders’ in the West. Frankly they are simply a bunch of self-satisfied cowards who care not one jot about their fellow Europeans. Overpaid, lazy, privileged dolts. But, that being the case – what does that say for those who gave then their votes? If only Trump would clean up his act, assume a more statesmanlike (Kennedy come to mind!) persona he COULd make the difference – I was always one who considered him at least preferable to Hillary, the other impossible choice, but he must pull in his horns and change – otherwise, he IS doomed I am unhappy to say.

Mortimer, if the Qur’an and Hadiths were banned it would just lead to the arrest of good people like Robert Spencer. I own several Qur’ans myself.
Muslims would not, of course, be dissuaded from reading these foul texts, as they have no trouble breaking Infidel laws.
Such laws would just prevent Infidels from educating themselves about the threat of Islam.
Kepha says
Absolutely, Graven.
I’m not for banning books or speech. I will demand the right to say that I find the Qur’an blasphemous, and its author Muhammad–barring some deathbed repentance of which I know nothing–to be damned. We have too many Leftist and Muslim “snowflakes” running around labeling ewverything with which they disagree as hate speech, and we must not emulate them.
Terry says
Banning religious books or banning a religion AS SEVERAL PEOPLE, AT VARIOUS TIMES, HAVE SAID ON JW IS TOTALLY UNWORKABLE. ( my view).
Look at history– not ancient history of the Mayans, or Aztecs, but the 20th century.
Russia, first under the Czars and later as the USSR UNDER COMMUNISM, made it difficult for Jews, and under the Communists, most (if not all) Jewish schools (yeshivas); synagogues; etc were closed. SO WHAT HAPPENED???
THEY WENT UNDERGROUND.
And the NKVD (later the KGB) was much more violent, and answerable to virtually nobody, than any US police agency. And they could do little, unless they had a mole.
The same would happen in the US if the government tried to ban Islam- it would just go underground.
The excuse- The Jews just wanted to pray, study, be left alone–true; Muslims want to take over- also true. But, Muslims would still just go under the radar and the situation would be worse.
My views
mortimer says
The Koran and hadiths are held by most Muslim clergy to be ‘perfect’ and unchangeable. Therefore, the Jew hatred in Islam cannot be removed. There is more Jew hatred in the Koran than in Mein Kampf.
Paul F Austin says
So…….which non-Muslim is going to ‘bite the bullet’ and prosecute on the grounds of hate speech? Somehow I do not see many heroes queueing up to ‘fire the first sho’ I wonder why – is there not enough money in the prospect perhaps? Only asking………NOT expecting to get a rational response somehow.

The 60 imams are practising “taqiyya”, which allows, and even encourages,
Muslims to lie to achieve Islamic goals. The so called “prophet” Mohammed makes that very clear in the unholy Satan-inspired Quran, Hadiths, etc; and make no mistake about the fact that these 60 imams, being highly educated in these publications, are fully aware that they are practising “taqiyya” on the unwary population of the West.
For further details, read the many articles written by Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch, Raymond Ibrahim of Gatestone Institute, etc.
Ammianus says
You are undoubtedly correct. One should ask in what forums are these denouncements of violence taking place? That is, are they directed towards kafirs as a form of public display or are they utttered in their mosques and madrasses to the faithful? The answer as you imply is obvious. What is most offensive and chilling is the willing complicity of non-Muslim political and religious leaders who provide the forums for their taqiyya.

…………………………..
Not to be cynical, but I wondered if these Imams are all really as “moderate” as they appear.
Seems I had some reason for concern.
Imam Hassan Chalghoumi is falsely claiming that the Infidels are planning a “Holocaust” against Muslims. He said:
“Racism and hatred of Muslims are on the rise, and with all the extreme right-wing parties… I have said time and again that I fear a holocaust against the Muslims. Indeed, a Muslim Shoa is in the works now, primarily because of a small bunch of people among us, who have tarnished the image of Islam and the Muslims, and have led people to hate us.”
He is also a member of Tablighi Jamaat, which pushes Sunni Muslims to return to orthodox Islam. They engage in aggressive Da’wa, and seek separation from the “impious” society of Infidels. They want women to be strictly segregated from men–which is perhaps why he does not have a problem with banning the Burqa, since he does not want women outside to begin with.
Chalghoumi’s main focus appears to be convincing Infidels that Islam is not a threat, while enjoining Muslims themselves to be increasingly Islamic.
I wonder if any of the other Imams on this tour look any better?

Islam is unreformable, I agree. But I study what Jay Smith and Tom Holland and of course what Robert Spencer and Bill Warner say about the overall history and structure of Islam.
We know or can know the contents of Quran-Sira-Hadiths fully. And we can see the awful contents and abhor and condemn it.
But I experiment taking this trilogy as Bill Warner calls it, all by itself. And thus without the Tafsirs and all these Islamic Scholars who explained and clarified this trilogy, thereby arriving at by now mainstream interpretations and shariah law.
The Tafsirs began with al Tabari, in the early 10th century, Jay Smith said. A lot of Tafsirs and Islamic scholars followed, including nowadays. We have MEMRI-tv to show this.
But when we hear the Islam apologists, and perhaps also this group of 60 “hero-imams”, it seems to me they pretend that the Tafsirs/ Islamic Scholars, thus the 4 Sunni Islamic schools of thought, Shari, Hanafi, Hanbali, Maliki and present day Al Azhar, do not have authority, and are certainly not able, or willing, to throw “heretics” out of Islam.
This means that the apologists pretend that they can interpret the trilogy differently from how the Tafsirs and Islamic scholars interpret it.
They might do this by saying the Meccan verses are NOT abrogated and still valid. Or by saying that the commands of Allah and Mohammed were descriptive/ time bound and now no longer prescriptive. And in general they present the Western world with what a big part thereof likes to hear.
Now Gerd Puin and other Islam scholars have indicated that the Quran has 20 % of “gibberish”, and anyway is far too incomplete and contradictory, not changed for a 1000 years and thus very obsolete.
The Sira and Hadiths are also contradictory and arranged in sahih, strong, and “weak” verses. So also, without the many Tafsirs and Scholars, not “Chrystal clear” it seems to me. Our scholars, like Tom Holland, also point out that of course many Hadiths can be shown certainly not to be coming from the lifetime of Mohammed and that they are sort of propaganda lies, with the “fake authority of Mohammed”, for use of various Islamic leaders and groups.
But we know that hundreds of millions follow the conclusions of these Tafsirs and Scholars, who indeed did succeed in making the Trilogy much more clear.
So counterjihadists (CJ’s) now can point all of this out and support those Muslims with the interpretations NOT dependent on or following the Tafsirs and Scholars.
CJ’s might then argue that Islam is not clear, and multi-interpretable, and take it from there. This approach has the advantage that it goes against what almost EVERY Muslim maintains; that Islam, thus the trilogy, IS CLEAR.
And it has the advantage that with this approach CJ’s can avoid the insurmountable barrier of “painting all Muslims with the same brush”, because without the Tafsirs and Scholars, Muslims, we can argue, indeed do have choices between more than one correct or valid interpretation of the holy texts of the trilogy.
Which in turn may help convince a tiny MAJORITY of Westerners to finally hold Muslims accountable for their interpretation of the trilogy and check them about it and mildly discriminate against those Muslims who are shown to adhere to anti-democratic values, tenets and laws, coming from interpretations of Islam by Tafsirs and scholars.
boakai ngombu says

hang the interpretations … as long as the SHARIA culture continues (gang rapes, subjugation of women, nogozones, unprovoked attacks against non believers, …!) every imam should be held suspect of being an enemy of: freedom of speech, conscience, assembly … pursuit of happiness … due representation; every student should be suspect of same. and, suspicion should not be mildly presented.

The Sufis have waged a long and thus far unsuccessful war to humanize Islam. A lot of the Sufi sects originated from the submerged mystical Christian schools of Anatolia and the Middle East and were regarded as infidels by the Orthodox. Most of these Imams are probably either Sufis themselves or are highly influenced by Sufi ideas. Wish them luck but don’t bet the ranch on them.

The first question I have about this Imam “tour” is who paid for it?
The Gatestone article links to an article in the UK’s Independant, which says “The Imam of Drancy and French writer Marek Halter were behind the initiative of the current tour.”
Wikipedia says that Halter is a rather controversial Jewish writer, and using Google Translate to read some of the sources for those controversies indicates that he’s been a bit slippery about his life history. My impression is that he appears to like to insert himself into events that he deems to be of historical significance. If he believes that quoting Quran 5:32 out of context (and incompletely), then he is at best mis-guided, and more likely mis-guiding.
There’s now a comment on the Gatestone article, under the username “pistache” that has a link to an article in Paris Match. Google translates part of that as:
“Can you disclose the progress of this march?
Two hundred imams from all over Europe will meet in Berlin on 8 July in the presence of the Chancellor. They then borrow buses to go to the cities where the assassins of Daech committed horrible attacks: Brussels – Molenbeek, St Etienne du Rouvray, Toulouse, Nice, Paris. They will be escorted everywhere by security forces, Muslim scouts and international media. At the Champ de Mars they will be welcomed by the future President of the Republic, then they will crack the crowd, estimated at 500,000 people and will climb to the stage set up in front of the Eiffel Tower, just before the traditional concert on 14 July. France 2 will follow all the march and I hope all the other major media of the world. The planet will see the Muslims protest against Daech. It was time !”

Was there anyone, other than “The Imam of Drancy”, from La Grande Mosquée de Drancy at the Paris locations of the “tour”? Drancy is about a one hour Metro ride from the Eiffel Tower. How about any of the locations? If there are Muslims available in those areas to commit murder, then there are mosques, which we are told to believe are full of peaceful Muslims. How many of them were present during this “tour”? Was it the 500,000 Halter projected? 50,000? 5,000? 5?
I think that Marek Halter and “The Imam of Drancy” are nothing but “taqiyya pets”: just add water, and watch the lies about the true nature of Islam take seed.
ItReallyQuiteClear says
Oops, the 500,000 attendees mentioned in the Paris Match article I cited obviously refers to a Bastille Day celebration. But the question remains: how many members of these “hero” Imams’ mosques participated in this “tour”?
