On Monday the hard-Left Talking Points Memo ran an article entitled : “Poll: Majority Of Republicans Now Say Colleges Are Bad For America.” The Leftist media is chattering this week about this, claiming that it is evidence that Republicans and conservatives are ignorant yahoos who oppose higher education. In reality, of course, Republicans and conservatives have a negative view of higher education because our nation’s colleges and universities have become radioactive wastelands of Leftist indoctrination, with fascists running free and shouting down and physically menacing speakers and students who dare hold views that dissent from the far-Left line.
This is not the fault of those fascist students alone. They wouldn’t be the self-righteous, willfully ignorant, indoctrinated bots they are at places as supposedly disparate as UC-Berkeley, Harvard, Yale, Georgetown, DePaul, the University at Buffalo, Truman State University and Saint Anselm College were it not for their professors and administrators. The Left began its Long March Through the Institutions in the 1960s, and for years now no one could get hired as a professor without marching in political lockstep with the Left. Administrators likewise have aided and abetted the transformation of what were once institutions of higher learning into increasingly ridiculous deserts of Leftist groupthink; the only thing not ridiculous about them is contemptible, that they’re increasingly violent toward dissenters.
Exhibit A of a professor who has no business being a professor at all, since all he really is is a hard-Left propagandist: Hatem Bazian, the founder of the Islamophobia Research and Documentation Project at the University of California at Berkeley. Researching and documenting “Islamophobia” doesn’t mean that Bazian keeps track of louts harassing innocent Muslims. No, Bazian is essentially a professor of Sharia Enforcement: he uses the smear propaganda term “Islamophobia” to stigmatize those of us who dare to note how Islamic jihadis use the texts and teachings of Islam to justify violence and make recruits among peaceful Muslims. Anyone who notices that the jihadis’ motivating ideology is Islamic to the core has already been or soon will be added to Bazian’s list of “Islamophobes”; the objective is to make everyone too frightened of this stigmatization to speak out, so that no will will dare utter a word and the jihad can advance unopposed and unimpeded. This makes Bazian a Professor of Jihad.
Bazian is a Professor of Jihad in other ways as well: he is head of a group with multiple ties to the jihad terror group Hamas, and he has openly called for an intifada, a violent uprising, not in Israel only, but in the United States as well.
In a sane society, Hatem Bazian would at very least be under investigation for ties to jihad terror activity, and would be a prime candidate for deportation. Instead, he is a respected professor at a prestigious university. He is thus the prime example in the entire country of how our academic institutions have lost their way, deserve no public funding, and are in radical need of reform.
Be sure to watch these two important Canary Mission videos: the most dangerous professor in America?:

Our country fought to rid America of the Muslims in the Barbary Wars of 1801-1805 and 1815-1816. We can do it again, but we will have to do it without the help of the progressive radical left nuts who think these people are harmless victims. What is wrong with these mentally incapacitated leftists? They have truly been indoctrinated by the schools. Look at the Ivy League schools such as Harvard. They teach Islam and they are indoctrinating these half-wit kids.
If you care about this Country, stop sending your kids to college and stop allowing them to be brainwashed by the propagandists.

The needed approach to deradicalizing colleges and universities, to return them to places of open discussion and higher learning is to have the FBI identify those in positions of administration and teaching that have radical leftist or Islamic views, interview them, and then purge the system of those who have a history if radical sedition or ultra left wing or Islamic supremacist views. Replace them with administrators and profs that will encourage critical thinking and open and honest debate about all subjects.
Wellington says
I understand your position but it ain’t gonna’ happen. Besides, you are assuming that no one in the FBI has leftist or pro-Islam views. I’m afraid that’s an assumption that may very well be wrong. Deep State has also infected the FBI I believe so that at least some of the FBI is itself part of the problem.

Muslims have been slaughtering people non-stop since the founding of Islam. They were doing it hundreds of years before Israel existed, hundreds of years before North America was colonized by Europeans, and hundreds of years before everything and everybody Muslims blame for their own violence even existed. Since you can’t rewrite this history the only option is to ignore it, which is what Muslims do all the time.

The big problem is that these “professors” have huge authority over students, including their grades, recommendations, and admissions to specialized programs. But, with tenure, here is absolutely no accountability. The professors cannot be fired and cannot be removed because of abuses.
The rationale for tenure is that it encourages freedom of thought and frees a professor to investigate wherever his researches take him. This was always on thin ice, it seems to me, and is not a blatant fiction that any professor would find difficult to defend in open debate.
Another problem is that a college degree is required for many jobs and professions. The degree generally serves as a proxy for an IQ test, which companies are forbidden to administer on the reasoning that IQ tests favor whites.
Another problem is the university accrediting agencies. The accrediting groups use criteria increasingly out of step with technology available today. For instance, with on-line resources and subscriber libraries, there’s no reason why accreditation should take into account the number of books in the library. Or even if there is a library. But, such requirements ramps up the expense of a university, and makes any college more vulnerable to political pressures.
The question is, what can parents and students do to protect themselves from these out-of-control, unaccountable professors. And although the left is the prime abuser, the structure of tenure would also protest an abusive conservative professor.
I would say in any case where the parents had a bi of spare cash, they should choose a college with minimal or no tenure. Tenure may be part of accreditation criteria, so the problem may be structural.
It seems unlikely that any college administration should be looked to to enforce reasonable standards. Administrations are generally characterized, if not by outright sympathy with the cult-Marxist professors, certainly by extreme cowardice. The situation is illustrated by Evergreen college, where in response to days of thugs wandering the campus, the president never was able to produce a coherent statement. He finally created some additional office of student services.
It comes to both other-peoples-money and the destruction of freedom of association.
gravenimage says
There has been a concerted effort over the past fifty years or so–largely successful–by the hard Left to take over the country’s universities.
aDhimmiSaysWhat? says
I usually agree with everything you post here, but I have a hard time believing the ‘concerted effort’ part. You make it sound like a cabal holding secret meetings to advance their agenda of taking over the university system. I think it’s more likely just groupthink run amok. Let’s try not to make the Left into a bogeyman. They may be wrong, they may be ignorant, but I think it’s wrong to paint them with a broad brush like that. We shouldn’t alienate them. We should educate them.

RD Lankes says
The problem with the left is the fact that they are indoctrinated, oops, I mean educated. The “broad-brush” is actually accurate, and “Grave image” is also accidentally an accurate presentation of the entity after all. No, it has not been a conspiracy but simply open collusion on the part of the left since the 60s. Before that, McCarthy was shamed into shutting down his purge before he was finished, the result being the likes of the openly avowed Communist murderer Angela Davis polluting the minds of countless student minds in the University of California system for years as she was last known in University of California, Santa Cruz. Even Reagan couldn’t get rid of that choice POS.
gravenimage says
Hi, aDhimmiSaysWhat?. I don’t think it was a conspiracy, but the influence of “intellectuals” like Alinsky has been pernicious–and many Leftist academics have been quite open in their intent to take over the system.

Maybe I’ll do a little more digging on that one. Any suggestions?
gravenimage says
I would start with Alinsky and his influence first. Hillary Clinton wrote her thesis on this thug, and then entered in to a long correspondence with him. He talked a lot about infiltrating society, and how to use people’s own virtues against them.

As an immigrant from a muslim country, I’m deeply concerned about what’s happening in many, many universities in the US.. Higher education is rapidly becoming a farce. I cannot speak for America’s tertiary education industry personally, as I’m not American. But from the outside looking in, it seems to me that the entire thing has become ludicrous.
1. You pay extraordinarily obscene figures for a degree that doesn’t come close to helping you secure a job in the job market.
2. You are actively and aggressively discouraged from free thought and exploring new ideas and theme’s (one of the very core pillars of a tertiary education) in order to be brainwashed into one extremely specific set of ideals, values and opinions.
You spend years of your life, studying in order to receive a piece of paper that says ‘you have sufficient knowledge in the topic that your degree addresses’. You then spend triple the years that you spent studying (if not many more) trying to repay the debt (and all the extra interest on the debt) that you accrued in your goal to get your hands on that piece of paper.
Honestly, aside from the small number of very specialized degrees offered within the STEM sphere and a very small number of other degrees on offer – I genuinely do not see the value anymore in a modern day university degree. Better to get a trade, or to start off at the ground and work your way up if you want a viable long-term career that will be financially rewarding in the long run. Plus you save years of your life – not only from being spent on ‘studying’ but also being spent on trying to repay a truly extraordinary debt that frankly – that degree (no matter which degree) is honestly, just not worth what you are paying.
For Pete’s sake, why pay multiple tens of thousands of dollars for a worthless piece of paper, years of your life down the toilet – and to be brainwashed into someone else’s world-view? If that is not Lemming like behaviour, then I don’t know what is.
JS says
The thing is if conservative students in the US leave left-leaning universities en masse, the universities will still get money from rich kids from other countries (Arabs, India, China, etc) and the illegal immigrants.. Therefore, I tend to agree with Ben Shapiro who said that we should send our smartest kids to these universities and use the degrees to combat liberalism/Islam.
Mark Swan says

It is only one kind of ‘higher education’ that is a farce, the arts and humanities. Our world is built upon applied science. Your clothes, house, computer, cell phone, cars, trains, planes and many more. The world needs scientifically educated (note, no inverted commas) people. Otherwise it’s back to sitting on the ground, dressed in a skin loin cloth, digging for grubs with a stick.

Hatem Bazian is a VERBAL JIHADIST and a SCRIBAL JIHADIST… he conducts the JIHAD of the TONGUE and the JIHAD of the PEN.
Hatem (he sure does) is filled with hatred for KAFIRS who SPEAK ABOUT ISLAM in any way.
He actually wants to enforce Sharia SILENCE about Islam and ensure that the Islamic clerics do ALL the speaking about Islam…and no one else.
All Muslims practice verbal jihad…hiding, concealing and lying about the meaning, motive and methods of jihad. Most jihad is peaceful.
ALL verbal jihad is DECEITFUL. ALL Muslims practice this deceit about Islam or they have left Islam.
Isn’t that right, Hatem? (you sure do)

Everyone should watch those videos of Jew hatred. Hatem Bazian is a genocidal, hate-preaching maniac! He should not be hired by any university for any reason.
He’s clearly a vicious, hate-filled ideologue who doesn’t hide his hatred of Jews.

I have watched both videos at the top of this article about Hatem Bazian and can say this guy should be arrested and deported he is scary and trying to create hatred. I’m old enough to remember how it used to be in western societies and can honestly say it is getting worse.

Got this from campus-watch.org: “He finished a double major in International Relations and Speech and Communication at San Francisco State University, where he also completed an M.A. in International Relations. He then went on to receive his Ph.D. in Philosophy and Islamic Studies from UC Berkeley in 2002.”
There you have it, another humanities monkey. Close to all of these champion bulshitters are either uneducated or from the humanities and arts – that’s really uneducated, too.
Worldwide, all arts and humanities departments should be closed. The staff can be given spiked sticks and bags and sent out to pick up trash on the highway – they’ll mean much more to humanity that way. The students should be taught something useful, like basket weaving or worm farming.
Spin it like you want to, there’s a clear connection between the arts and humanities and rabid liberals. In the arts and humanites, rabid liberals are the hump of the Gaussian curve. In the sciences, they are the statistical outliers.
