It also “will offer a graduate credit for attendees that also submit a written assignment.”
When will Marquette pay faculty to attend a workshop about the ideological and theological roots of jihad terrorism? Why, that would be inconceivable. And so would any honest discussion of the jihad terror threat at Marquette or most, if not all, other universities in the U.S. today, especially Catholic universities. They are radioactive centers of hard-Left indoctrination, not institutions of higher learning in any genuine sense.
The real “Islamophobia” industry, the one dedicated to fooling people into thinking that “Islamophobia” is a genuine problem, operates by deliberately conflating two quite distinct phenomena: vigilante attacks against innocent Muslims, which are rare but never justified under any circumstances, and honest examination of the motivating ideology of jihad terrorists. By lumping the two together, “Islamophobia” victimhood propagandists hope to inhibit all examination of the jihad doctrine, and to demonize and marginalize all those who engage in such examination.
“University Offers To Pay For Faculty Attending ‘Overcoming Islamophobia’ Workshop,” by Rob Shimshock, Daily Caller, July 17, 2017 (thanks to Tom):
A Wisconsin university announced Monday that it will cover costs for its faculty to attend an anti-Islamophobia workshop, and will offer a graduate credit for attendees that also submit a written assignment.
Marquette University will pay the $30 registration fee for faculty that choose to attend “Overcoming Islamophobia: Creating a Positive Classroom Culture,” hosted at Alverno College in August. The fee will also cover lunch at the Islamic Society of Milwaukee.
The event is co-sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Alverno College, the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition and the Islamic Society of Milwaukee. Marquette University will grant attendees that submit a written assignment pertaining to Islamophobia an Alverno graduate credit….
Cretius says
Islamophobia n., a Muslim word used to shut down any discussion or debate of the teachings of Islam, Islamic history, Islamic practices or debate on the Islamic belief system by non-believers.
It is usually paired with ‘racism’ even though Islam is not a race. Islam is totally incompatible with the theory and practices of a modern secular democracy. Politicians and leftists that promote this farce have betrayed their citizens and their democracy.
“Islamophobia’ is a direct attack on free speech and our tradition of discussing and debating ideas. Islam is ideas and ideas have no rights but people do have rights.
Speak out and expose Islamophobia for the fraud that it is.

I’m always disappointed to see nonsense like this, but most disappointed when Christian / Catholic universities succumb to Islam or its Leftist apologists. DePaul University, another Jesuit school down the road in Chicago, banned Ben Shapiro from campus because he was conservative, and threatened his arrest if he came to give his scheduled lecture on the topic of free speech. The Pope is a mess, as well.
Mike C says
As a DePaul graduate I agree with you. Because it bans conservative speakers I no longer support the school. But you wrong about it being a Jesuit school; it is Vincentian (as in St Vincent dePaul. Georgetown is a Jesuit school which has accepted 1o million $$ from a Saudi prince to set up a muslin study group.

well Marquette is a private Catholic institution that following in the foot steps of its leader -dope Francis.
unbelievable how DECEIVED/ CORRUPT they are!- but that is why Martin Luther broke with the Roman church. It is interesting what Luther wrote about islam gatesofvienna.blogspot.ca/2007/02/martinluther-on-jihad.html
RICH63 says
No disrespect to you John Spielman,
But who taught you that lie about martin Luther breaking free from the church of ROME ?
He still taught catechism and many other the doctrines of the Catholic church…..
john spielman says
Martin luther WAS kicked out of the Catholic church and would have been killed by the catholic church except for the protection from the German princes that hid him – historical fact!
Luther was appalled at the works- righteous theology that crept into the church at that time – especially the selling of indulgences to build the basilica of st Peter in Rome, along with the arrogance and pomposity of the church hierarchy
read the 95 THESE( objections) that Luther nailed to the door of the church in Wittenberg Germany which began the protestant reformation ! – basic was the truth that we are saved by God’s grace NOT good works just as Paul wrote ” we are saved by grace not of works lest any man should boast!”Jesus has paid the price our sin deserve! ‘
Luthe emphasized the “5 solas” the only’s- only Grace, only Christ, only faith, only scripture, and only for the glory of God the Father- the basis for all Christ following churches!
Keys says
How can there only be 5 “onlys” ?
Nevermind, john. I hate Islam.
john spielman says
dear Keys;” the 5 ‘onlys” are the basis for all protestantism; – we are saved ONLY by God’s GRACE, through FAITH (not works) , in JESUS CHRIST alone, we us only SCRIPTURE ( the Bible) alone, not the decrees of the vatican nor any other individual nor group, all to the glory OF GOD alone. – check with your local pastor
.
because Lutherans use Scripture alone, they practice infant and adult baptism like the early church did, but baptism, without faith in Jesus our sin atoning Savior, though is useless! they also practice holy communion where Jesus spirit ( not body ie transubstantiation as in the RC church) is in and through the wine and the bread- a LITERAL interpretation of Jesus word in th the gospel of John; ” unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink HIS blood , you have no life in you”
John S Obeda says
Two comments: 1) This year is the 500 anniversary when Martin Luther posted the 95 theses on the door on Oct.31, 1517. Well said, John; but Lutherans believe what Jesus said: “This is my Body” and yet at the same time it is bread after consecration. Who can understand it?
2) Comment to “Another JW” : A Christian is anyone who trusts in Jesus alone for the forgiveness of his sins won by the atonement of Jesus. Read John 3:16 and 17. It’s not, really, anything else. Of course, as James writes, he who has saving faith will also do good works. Otherwise, such faith is dead and a dead faith does not save.

Is the 5 solas like Calvin’s TULIP doctrine?

As of today, there have been 31,207 documented Islamic terrorist attacks worldwide since 9/11 (and of course these are the ones that actually transpired as opposed to the many tens of thousands thwarted by security agencies across the globe) and Marquette University is worried about Islamophobia. This is nuts. I mean I’m talking absurdity on steroids here.

It would be entertaining to attend the seminar and submit a written assignment detailing the true nature and history of the term “Islamophobia”, as a well-orchestrated propagandistic tool for mind control, elimination of debate and as Robert says, demonizing the criticism of Islamic doctrine. I wonder if you’d get your credit?
Cretius says
Any legitimate university would grant a credit for an essay based in scholarship and factual in content with full citations. Essays exposing the fraud of ‘Islamophobia’ and Islamic propaganda are needed in defence of secular democracy from the attacks of a supremacist belief system that is totally incompatible with secular democracy. Politicians that promote Islam have abandoned the values and practices of liberal secular democracy and should be treated for what they are, traitors!

When they make these things required in the education system at any or all levels, you must refuse to attend. Yes, I know, and it will cost me my job too probably. But I counted the cost of discipleship when I became a Christian. I will never attend a workshop of indoctrination of any flavor that contradicts the Word of God. We can’t serve two masters, we will love one and hate the other. This is where they always come in with their ‘but… but…. I’ll lose my _____’ you fill in the blank. Sorry, but that was in the contract with the Lord when you signed up, He comes first. That is how we are part of the solution, and not part of the problem.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matthew 16; 24-26
Yes, He meant it. And no, it’s not always painless to follow Jesus as Christians, but that is our calling and He expects it of us. No if’s, and’s, or but’s.
John S. Obeda says
Good to read what you have written, Lydia. God bless His followers to be faithful and also bless them to be courageous to stand up for the truth and to speak it and then to suffer the consequences if need be. And the truth is that Jesus alone is our Saviour from our sins and also that Muhammad is of the devil and His teachings, Islam, is of the devil too. God bless our people to realize this.

It would be interesting to know if financial grants were made to Marquette and the University of Wisconsin system from Saudi Arabia or any of the 57 OIC countries. Islam allows the use of taqyyia which is a form of deception to deny or omit the sura’s that call for warfare against non-believers to protect Islam exposure of the
ongoing deception that has goals to bring sharia worldwide, with verses that call for the use of terror, relentless refugee migration. to accomplish those goals it takes money and many discussions to silence the authorities, media and the education systems to see things “their way”, a peaceful, victim never a aggressor. Although after 9/11, the work continued with the mosque building and supporting organizations used to achieve the peaceful face, while at the same time trying to convince the public that the contrary facts are hateful and islamophobic. It is very clever to constantly hold workshops to accomplish this goal which is truly silencing the truth and demanding a law to change our freedom of speech. The conclusion that nothing in the doctrine of Islam commands warfare on the nonbelievers is a lie. With the extensive library at the higher learning establishments it would be recommended that they examine the doctrine and the law of sharia before this meeting. Reading the verses for the medina period spells it out, the meccan verse are only used to confuse the target.

Dhimmitude training. This is dis-heartening. I earned my PhD in theology at Marquette. I fear the school has become Catholic in name only. I am sure that under the current Pope, such training would be encouraged.

I am a graduate of Marquette. This dismays but does not surprise me.
It also comes as no surprise that the training is given by Alverno. I know two families (who don’t know of each other) who each sent a daughter to Alverno. It’s weirdly toxic. Both of these normal young women decided, midway through their studies, that they were lesbians. They entered into lesbian romances, “came out” to their families, etc.
I use the past tense because, a few years out of college, guess what? NEITHER young woman is a lesbian now! They are both in happy heterosexual relationships.
Why have MU and Alverno, which both claim to be Catholic, embraced these strange behaviors? Is it because of society, the Church, or our leftist academia? Archbishop Listecki is a good guy, and he needs to get involved.
