No explanation for this was offered. Would seeking the death penalty in this case be “Islamophobic”?
“Prosecutors will not seek death in Tampa neo-Nazi slaying,” Associated Press, August 10, 2017:
Prosecutors said they will not seek the death penalty against a former neo-Nazi accused of killing two of his roommates.
The decision was announced without explanation during a hearing on Thursday in the case of 18-year-old Devon Arthurs, who faces two counts of first-degree murder, The Tampa Bay Times reported.
Arthurs took people hostage in a Tampa-area smoke shop in May, then led police to the bodies of his two roommates in an apartment they shared.
He told police he killed Jeremy Himmelman, 22, and Andrew Oneschuk, 18, because they had disrespected his recent conversion to Islam.
Arthurs later told detectives the men were members of a neo-Nazi group called Atomwaffen Division who were planning bombings….
Berengaria says
Tampa Bay Times, FAKE MEDIA,pushing the NEO-NAZI CONNECTION, but waiting to the end, to mention, Islamic Conversion drove Arthur to slay his two roommies!
NO DEATH PENALTY FOR THE MUSLIM CONVERT, ISLAM IS ABOVE THE US & FLORIDA STATE LAWS.
Lady JUSTICE has failed AMERICANS with the “MANY TIERS OF JUSTICE”.

AP mention “a picture of Timothy McVeigh” but gloss over the murderer’s devout Islamic beliefs with a passing mention of his motive.

ArthurS… is tis a sort of Lithuanian.
Infidel Lass says
Execute him. On the other hand, his victims were scum. It would be a win-win for society if they did kill this one off too.
Salome says
It would appear that we have only the perp’s somewhat delayed word for it that the victims were neo-Nazis.
Aloha Akbar says
Yes. And where is the evidence that the two victims were ‘planning a bombing’
Another likely story.
gravenimage says
One does not have to be a fan of Neo-Nazis–I’m not–to consider murdering them a crime.
And from what I have heard, there is only the word of the killer himself that this was the ideology of the victims.
utis says
Do the media have evidence that the victims were planning violence? Or are they just swallowing whole the story of an ex-nazi, new member of the Religion of Whack-jobs?
gravenimage says
Good question, utis.

There seems to be a correlation between affiliation with extremist political views, mental illness, and conversion to Islam.

Not surprised that people who admire Hitler turn around and start admiring Muhammad. Different ideology but otherwise exactly the same, kill anyone who doesn’t comply, especially Jews.

True, Mike and DRHazard.
Voytek Gagalka says
Apparently those “prosecutors” are dhimmis and fear to be called “islamophobic” in case they would demand justice. That what they ask for instead is not a justice at all but PERVERSION of justice which, unless much harsher sentences are demanded and carried out, will only ensure that jihad will continue.

Another case which proves socialism and islam go hand in hand.

Whether or not the victims were planning a bombing or a big party does not matter. If a mobster kills another mobster, he has still murdered another person and does not have any *right* or authority of law to kill.
If they were choking him and he feared for his life, then self-defense. No place, no government entity, no person, in Florida authorized him to kill to keep a bombing from taking place.
moslums never take responsibility….they excuse themselves for any wrong actions taken. In this case, he is trying to justify the murders as *righteous* by *preventing* a bombing…only he says was going to occur.
No death penalty could be due to his age, or it could be due to lack of the drugs needed to do the job. Any number of things can cause a prosecutor to go for life without parole instead. Or just life, which means, a possible parole in the years to come.
He has the evil look of islum. That is the *reason* he killed his roommates. Bombing is not something islum frowns on. His roommates laughed at him, mocked him or merely said he was stupid, would all be enough to send a moslum to the murder weapons.

Florida: No death penalty for Muslim who killed men for disrespecting his conversion to Islam
…………………..
How can premeditated mass murder *not* lead to the death penalty in Florida?
somehistory says
It may have to do with the fact that he confessed to killing them, leading the police to the bodies of his victims. Prosecutors *take it off the table* under some conditions, including plea bargaining for someone who admits to the crimes.
gravenimage says
Actually, you are probably correct, Somehistory. Thanks.
somehistory says
You’re very welcome, g.
The fact is, most criminals are not taken to trial. Most are resolved through plea bargaining. The perp gets a lighter sentence or he has the charges lowered so the sentence is lighter, or some combination of things. If there is a plea bargain, there is no appeal. Saves the courts a lot of time in that fewer trials are held, and fewer appeals made, fewer perps get a redo.
gravenimage says
I know this, Somehistory. But multiple murders are not like lesser crimes–or they shouldn’t be. You are probably right that the death penalty is off the table because of his confession and leading authorities to the bodies of his victims.
somehistory says
The thing is, g, the court system, the criminal justice system, is not like most people think it is…or even as it “should” be. Some criminals go to prison when, if they didn’t plea bargain, might not, but their lawyers…in many, many cases public defenders with heavy loads…find it easier to convince them to plea. It’s easier for the attorney, and many accused do not understand fully to what they are agreeing until it’s too late.
But, in high profile cases, and esp with moslums, they have paid attorneys and these argue for their client to get a better deal.
There have been cases where serial killers weren’t charged with all of the murders they committed in order to get them in prison for one or some of the murders.
It is not fair to the victims or their families. And sometimes, it isn’t fair to the accused. In this case, he isn’t getting what he deserves, but that is the way the system *works.*
gravenimage says
I know, Somehistory.
We have one of the world’s best–perhaps the best–justice system. That does not mean it is not *far from perfect*.

Yes most likely if he confessed the death penalty does go away, but I don’t know Florida’s laws, I am not a fan of the death penalty..but in this case that may be why the muslim who killed was able to keep his life. Problem is people who follow the doctrine of Islam confess usually but also say they kill for Allah…that is part of his what he calls religion but truly is like no other….due to the doctrine which is about warfare not tolerance, only tolerance for Islam. If the muslim is accused by a kufar, a non believer and the state takes away the death penalty…it works for them. But to declare why they killed is also part of sharia, islamic law. Strange times….what history knew is brewing in the world of information, how strange.
somehistory says
The *reason* they kill doesn’t affect his sentence if he pleads guilty to escape the death penalty. If he gets life and they don’t tack on “without parole,” then he will have to say he’s sorry for murdering in order to get parole. If they say without parole, then he will never get out, sorry or not. But evidently, he said he did the crimes and he gave them his *motive.*

It is a virtual certainty that this boy was brought up in a more or less Christian family. His identifying as a neo-Nazi has to be a desperate bid for attention. His “conversion” to Islam was just an acceleration of his attention seeking, and a descent into tribalism, by rooming with two other pathetic little would-be Nazis. This is no more, no less, socially arrested personalities playing cowboys and Indians! In Tampa, with all those beaches? I swear, he has to be certifiable, so “certify” him already. The two dead ones were caught in the game. Too bad.
