Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

NYC: Muslim arrested for trying to join the Islamic State “got religious in the last year”

Aug 30, 2017 12:22 pm By Robert Spencer

“He got religious in the last year. Not radical, just religious.”

It would be interesting for law enforcement and intelligence officials to explore in detail the difference between the two. But they won’t.

“22-Year-Old Queens Man Arrested on Terror Charge After Allegedly Trying to Join ISIS in Syria,” by Jonathan Dienst and Joe Valiquette, NBC4 New York, August 29, 2017:

The family of a young Queens man arrested for allegedly trying to join with ISIS in Syria say they’re in shock, and they never saw the arrest coming.

Parveg Ahmed, 22, of Ozone Park, was arrested after flying from New York to Saudi Arabia and then attempting to cross into Syria, law enforcement officials tell NBC 4 New York. He was stopped before he could travel into Syria.

After Joint Terrorism Task Forces got a search warrant for Ahmed’s personal computer in July they found he’d been listening to recordings of radical Islamic terrorists. One of the recordings was from Abdullah el-Faisal, a Jamaican born cleric found guilty in UK of solicitation to commit murder.

A cell phone search warrant turned up messages to people expressing a desire to travel to ISIS controlled areas, and a message indicating he planned to join ISIS in Syria to wage violent jihad. His browser history also turned up research of maps of ISIS controlled locations, officials said.

Ahmed is charged with attempted material support for terror.

“As alleged, Ahmed sought to take up arms with violent terrorists who have killed numerous innocent victims, including Americans,” said Acting US Attorney Bridget Rohde in a statement.

A search of Ahmed’s computer indicated he listened to recordings of two notorious clerics, Anwar al-Awlaki and Abdullah el-Faisal. Al-Awlaki was killed in 2011, and el-Faisal was indicted in New York just last week and arrested in Jamaica.

Ahmed was flown back to New York late Monday, where he was arrested by members of the FBI Joint Terrorist Task Force. At a hearing in federal court in Brooklyn Tuesday afternoon, Ahmed was ordered held without bail.

Ahmed’s father and brother, who declined to give their names, told NBC 4 New York they were “in shock” and had seen no signs of anything untoward.

“He got religious in the last year. Not radical, just religious,” his brother said “He said ISIS was bad just a few months ago.”

Ahmed, who is a naturalized United States citizen originally from Bangladesh, went to Stuyvesant High School and Hunter College for a while, his brother said. He said Ahmed was smart and had worked in a warehouse and as a math tutor.

His father said he traveled to Saudi Arabia with Ahmed in June, and then his son left to travel. “We called him and he said he was coming back.”…

When someone practices Islam according to the book, it equals terrorism.

And Muslims who, by default, follow the directives as reflected in the koran, correlate living those directives as being religious. And, if such being religious incites death or maiming of an other person/persons the Muslim refers to having acted in accordance with the koran.
Is there any other established, major, religion with such directives? I cannot think of any who would not place what the koran directs as sin, as a crime. IMHO most faiths prevalent in America, that I know of, reflect the Ten Commandments.

Islam is a strange animal that way. Most of the Ten Commandments have counterparts in the Koran, but the way it is commonly interpreted, those only apply when dealing with other Muslims – when dealing with Kufars, anything goes.

And even when dealing with other Muslims, there is an unhealthy focus on the letter of the law, rather than actual morality. For example, the Christian viewpoint is that sexual immorality is bad, and in support of this moral tenet, Christians are taught not to have sex with anyone to whom they are not married. Muslims, on the other hand, completely ignore the underlying moral tenet, and focus exclusively on the legal requirement to only have sex with people to whom you are married. Thus polygamy, instant divorces, and temporary marriages are commonplace in the Muslim world, allowing Muslims to obey the letter of the law without having to deal with the underlying issue of immorality.

Likewise, Christians believe that sobriety is good, and in support of this moral tenet, Christians are taught to limit their intake of alcohol and other intoxicants or else to abstain altogether. Again, Muslims ignore the underlying moral tenet and focus on the legal requirement to abstain from alcohol, with the result that abuse of substances other than alcohol is rampant in the Muslim world. In fact, some Muslims focus even more narrowly on the letter of the law, claiming that they are not prohibited from drinking all alcohol, only that which is based on fermented grain or fermented grapes. Thus vodka, for example, is permissible, because it doesn’t come from grapes or grain. Obviously that is a minority opinion among Muslims, but it does exemplify the Islamic tendency to ignore moral issues by narrowly focusing on strict legalism.

Why was this trash arrested? He should have been allowed to travel to Syria. Hopefully he would have died within a year or two. There is no point of keeping him in prison with taxpayer money.

Islam is a religion where the believer needs his good deeds to outweigh his bad deeds in order to enter jannah. (Unlike Christianity where the Bible Jesus sacrificed himself so believers, relying on his sacrifice, and having his goodness imputed to them, enter heaven due to Jesus’ great love.)
Now, if a Muslim who hasn’t been living a life in accordance with the dictates of his faith, becomes more deeply religious, he realises that no amount of good deeds will ever make up for the bad deeds he has done in his life. He realises that according to the dogma of Islam he is totally lost. No jannah for him.
However there is one way out; one way to be sure he can get to jannah with the 72 perpetual virgins and an ever erect male member. He can die in Allah’s cause taking infidels with him. He will also get to nominate relatives to join him.
Unlike Christianity where the Bible Jesus died instead of and on behalf of mankind, those who wish to benefit from that sacrifice of the Bible Jesus can elect to do so, the Muslim with so many bad deeds in his balance sheet can only die for his God taking unbelievers with him in order to merit entry to jannah.
The newly religious Muslim is worth the watching.

Did he discover the importance of obeying God’s Laws and living a good moral life?

Can he figure out the difference between allah and God?
    no, because he found allah

Will it all end well and he’ll live happily ever after?
    no,because he found allah

Is he certain to go to God’s reward for the good in the next life?
    no,because he found allah

will he EVER be able to figure it out?

“He got religious in the last year. Not radical, just religious,” his brother said.

Western people, and the man’s brother also, it seems, don’t know enough about Islam to know what ‘religion’ (deen) means. ‘Deen’ is a system of life that includes the obligation of conducting jihad.

    Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar:
I heard the Apostle of Allah say: When you enter into the inah transaction (become businessmen), hold the tails of oxen (become cattlemen), are pleased with agriculture (become farmers), and give up CONDUCTING JIHAD, Allah will make disgrace prevail over you, and will not withdraw it until you return to your ORIGINAL RELIGION. – Sunan Abu Dawud Book 23, Number 3455

According to Mohammed, JIHAD is the ORIGINAL RELIGION of Islam.
