Universities today are radioactive wastelands of Leftist indoctrination, including a pronounced hostility to America and sympathy for jihad terrorism.
“9/11 memorial banned from campus venue because of new ‘triggering’ policy,” by Kayla Schierbecker, The College Fix, August 2, 2017:
A private Texas university has united student opinion across the ideological spectrum in opposition to a “restrictive and destructive” policy that bans a September 11 memorial display.
Southern Methodist University rebuffed its Young Americans for Freedom chapter’s request to host a display in a prominent campus location, violating the spirit of free speech, student groups told The College Fix.
The administration claims it is trying to accommodate the speech without disrupting existing college operations. But one allied group believes the new rules on “lawn displays” — motivated by an SMU commitment to avoid “triggering” students — are intended to stop pro-life messages that have proven more controversial….
Last month Grant Wolf, president of the YAF chapter, requested the use of the Dallas Hall Lawn…for a display involving nearly 3,000 American flags to memorialize those killed in the terrorist attacks. YAF’s display has been held on the lawn annually since 2015.
In emails dated July 24 obtained by The Fix, the university rejected the group’s proposed location for the Sept. 10 event but modified it to take place less than a quarter-mile away.
“The University has a new policy regarding Memorial Lawn Displays (see below) so I have changed the location of your request to MoMac Park,” Student Activities Coordinator Lydia Dale wrote in an email.
The new restrictions are intended to strike a balance between “the right of all members of the SMU community to express their opinions” and their right to “avoid messages that are triggering, harmful, or harassing,” according to the lawn display guidelines reprinted in the email….

Free speech is free speech, including messages that are “triggering”.

How does honoring the memory of the innocent fallen to terrorism amount to a triggering message?

So some SMU community memebers have complained—but the only one who would get this reply,
would be MUSLIMS.

Idiocy when it is as its ‘best’! Yes is not ‘yes’ and no is no longer ‘no’ – not even in the so called ‘church’. How come that ‘the defender of truth’ (I though it was the ‘chruch’) has become so insolent that it no longer can admit that a crime is a crime? This is no longer to be called ‘islamophobia’ (which is more prevalent among muslims, actually, than among other people) but what it is: delusion.

Pro-life is controversial on a private Christian campus? Why don’t they simply remove “Methodist” from the university name and capitulate to Barack Obama’s, “Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation..” Perhaps that could become the school’s slogan – “Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian university”
Sedition runs deep on secular college campuses and has become the new normal. As an patriotic Agnostic, watching Christians lose their identity is rather distressing when I realize that they are moving toward the left; an entity steeped in hedonism, unwilling to appreciate or defend their own nation.
What kind of American university administrators does this university have? Are they mind-cousins of Obama’s “g– d—- America” Rev Wright?
Like all large “private” universities, Southern Methodist University is getting sizable federal funding that should be withdrawn if it thinks honoring 9/11 victims means, “take it down the street, don’t bother us”
Betty says
Maybe they need their federal funds cut out because the want stand and honor our fallen.

KAFIRS ARE SLAVES WHO MAY NOT SPEAK THEIR MINDS
The inability of Islam to allow freedom of speech is based on its predominant themes of dualism and submission. Islam is a political system of ENSLAVEMENT. There is a slave; there is a slave-owner. The slave has no rights. For a free person, the CENTRAL RIGHT that guarantees the other rights is freedom of speech. Euripides wrote: “A Slave is he who cannot speak his thoughts.” This is insightful. Free speech is the first right Mohammed TOOK AWAY from his opposition: the right to criticize him. He particularly wanted his followers to avoid contact with outsiders, so they might not hear any criticism of his cult. ISOLATION is a mind-bending, thought-control technique practiced in all narcissistic religious CULTS. There are 14 verses in the Koran that tell Muslims not to befriend the kafirs and practice APARTHEID from them. CENSORING CRITICISM OF ISLAM IMPOSES ISLAMIC APARTHEID AND ISLAMIC SUPREMACISM.
In a liberal society, censoring any criticism of Islam would mean giving Islam SPECIAL RIGHTS not afforde to other faiths. Islamists want the right FOR MUSLIMS to criticize others faiths (and other sects of Islam), AND the unique right of Islam to be ABOVE CRITICISM. Islam’s primary need is to remove freedom of expression from the kufaar in order to gain a monopoly of information about Islam. Kufaar are semi-slaves and only Moslems have rights in an Islamic society. In practice, only the Islamic authoritarian state has the right to express an opinion about anything.
There are 4,200 different religions. Since modern society believes in EQUALITY, ALL RELIGIONS must be protected from criticism or NO RELIGION may be protected from criticism. All or nothing.

How is respecting the memory of the dead harmful and harrasing?
gravenimage says
It is only “harmful and harassing” to those who who believed they deserved to die–in other words, to those who support violent Jihad.
somehistory says
SMU was at one time, what some might call “picky”, admonishing new students they expected respect be shown for God’s Word….after all, Methodists founded the university.
Now, they pick on non moslums and take away free speech on cam pus.

Southern Methodist University bans 9/11 memorial because of new “triggering” policy
……………….
Who would this “trigger” save supporters of Jihad mass murder? Ugly and insane.
Georg says
What about American students who feel “triggered” by a wing of students who hate them, their country, and those who died on 9/11? About the only racism and hatred I witnessed in college was toward white people, Jews, and the United States.

Universities : places where you come out much more ignorant than
when you entered them. Just like mosques, really. Just obscene,
ugly mindedness is now a virtue to these ‘intellectuals’, God help us.

“… Universities today are radioactive wastelands of Leftist indoctrination, including a pronounced hostility to America and sympathy for jihad terrorism…”
They work on the premise that the origin of all the worlds evils can be traced back to our Universal Civilisation. Apart from their apologetics for Islamic violence, you can be almost certain that if hostilities commenced with North Korea the University Brown Shirts will immediately be on the streets heaping venom on the United States. The blinkered beliefs of the current generation of academics, with their herd mentality regarding social and political issues, has transformed them into parasitic appendages of society.
PKG says
Oh for goodness sake! Hello? Hate to break it to the students of today, but history includes violence – and quite a bit of it!!
Treating students like snowflakes is only reinforcing the prissy ‘trigger sensitive’ behaviour among them.
What’s happened to academic leadership?
Attempts to shield them from ugly realities such as banning the 9/11 memorial or relegating it to the margins is tantamount to an attempting a form of revisionism or akin to a denial of the holocaust….
We need to respect and remember the victims of this terrible even!
Matthieu Baudin says
Your absolutely right PKG. Even non-Americans like myself should remember 9/11 and rake over it, not only to remember the individuals in that civilian mass murder, but also to try to understand what motivated the attack. Acknowledging it as an Islamic crime shouldn’t stand in the way of treating individual Muslim raised people with the dignity that they deserve as fellow human beings. Ignoring or airbrushing 9/11 out of history only serves to make us all look stupid and feeble and to invite more murderous efforts to humiliate us.

Trigger THIS!
UNCLE VLADDI says
This whole “TRIGGERING” nonsense is victim-blaming slander and victimology – it pretends people are really only ever helpless victims of their animal instincts and emotions who CAN be “triggered” into violence by other people’s words – our leftopathic institutes of higher learning no longer teach that old truth about “STICKS AND STONES!” but in stead encourage criminal extortion!
John A. Marre says
The real reason is their insistence on complete submission to Islam, the ideology responsible for the terror attacks on 9/11.
