Nabeel Qureshi was that rarest of things today: an honest man. A man who would pursue the truth no matter where it took him, and no matter what the cost.
I didn’t know him well. I had the honor of meeting him in Ohio in 2009, at Pamela Geller’s rally for his fellow ex-Muslim, Rifqa Bary. He was true then, and consistent.
May his memory be eternal.
“Nabeel Qureshi Dies at Age 34,” CBN News, September 16, 2017:
Ex-Muslim turned Christian apologist, Nabeel Qureshi, passed away Saturday after a year-long battle with stomach cancer.
The 34-year-old left behind a wife and two-year-old daughter.
The very man who led Nabeel to Christ, David Wood, announced his death on Twitter saying, “My beloved bother Nabeel, rest in peace and joy with the Risen Lord Jesus Christ.”
Qureshi was born and raised in the United States to a devout Pakistani Muslim family.
“My earliest memories are of my mother everyday sitting me next to her and having me put on my skull cap and showing me how to recite the Qur’an letter by letter. I finished the Qur’an when I was five-years-old,” Qureshi explains in a video about his journey to Christ.
He also learned how to defend the doctrines of his Muslim faith and would often challenge non-believers to debates during his time in school.
Qureshi finally met his match when he attended Old Dominion University in Virginia and met David Wood. He challenged Wood’s Christian faith when he saw him reading a Bible by himself. Thus began a two and a half year period where the pair challenged each other on the doctrines of their faiths.
Eventually, Qureshi realized his arguments for Islam crumbled under the evidence for Christ’s death, burial, resurrection, and divinity.
“At the end of my research, the arguments for and against Islam still hung in the balance, but one thing was abundantly clear: they were far from approaching the strength of the case for Christianity,” Qureshi said.
But it wasn’t just the physical evidence that convinced Qureshi. He had three prophetic dreams about Christ that eventually won him over.
Qureshi accepted Christ as his savior and faced the difficult task of telling his parents.
‘When my parents did find out it was probably the most painful day of my life,” Qureshi said. “To have Christ in my life makes every loss worth it.
He went on to study Christian Apologetics at Biola University, while also getting his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He later completed a degree in religion at Duke University and entered a phD program in New Testament studies at Oxford University. Qureshi also became an itinerant speaker with Ravi Zacharias’ International Ministry.
Qureshi published three books, Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus: A Devout Muslim Encounters Christianity, and Answering Jihad: A Better Way Forward, and No God but One: Allah of [sic] Jesus? A Former Muslim Investigates the evidence for Islam and Christianity.
Qureshi made the official announcement of his cancer diagnosis August 2016.
“This is an announcement that I never expected to make, but God in his infinite and sovereign wisdom has chosen me for this refining, and I pray he will be glorified through my body and my spirit. My family and I have received the news that I had advanced stomach cancer and the prognosis is quite grim,” he said in a Facebook post….

To the INFERIOR COWARD abu who won’t allow my comment reply directly to his link:
Why would I waste my time engaging in a discussion WITH YOU over my “arguments against –your vile cult known as— Islam”? I can read. Sharia is Sharia. And if you try the ridiculous meme that I can’t understand the texts because I don’t speak Arabic (which you may be wrong in assuming), well then you have monstrous problem worldwide with the more than a billion copies of the koran that were translated in many languages. The overwhelming majority of the existing koranic and Sunnah literature in the world today is not written in Arabic.
I don’t believe your “prophet” even existed. How about that discussion?
BTW…..according to many of your brothers-in jihad Nabieel was never a “true muslim” to begin with because he was born within the Ahmadyya sect. How about you answer that too?

No, but the arguments of islam have been well refuted by Christians.
God supplies the evidence when you seek the one true God; the God of the Holy Bible, and it is out there for the finding and some stumble upon it even without looking. But the earnest seeker will find Jesus; the Jesus of the Bible, which is the truth of God.
God takes people home all the time in an act of mercy because He knows the future.

Then, what of the widespread poverty, prevalence of preventable diseases, death at young ages, and other miseries with which a very large portion of the Muslim world lives on a daily basis? Even without a bunch of fat, greasy, middle-aged imams telling the young men to waste themselves in suicide bombings, the average life-expectancy of the Islamic world lags. Would Salma say that this also reflects Allah’s curse?

The fact that you have a blasphemy law tells me that Islam is not from the God of truth, for the simple reason that Truth has nothing to fear from questions or attacks- it will always triumph. The reason that you must kill someone who opposes Muhammad reveals that you are trying to hide something and that you fear that you could be wrong…. so kill the messenger to appease your godless conscience.
Truth does not fear

Saying that someone who got cancer has been “cursed by God” is ludicrous. This is not how disease works, unless Abu Salma also believes that any pious Muslim who has fallen ill is also “cursed by God”.
Notice that he is unable to refute anything Nabeel Qureshi has said about the vicious “Prophet” Muhammed. This should not surprise.

Well, one of the most intelligent counter arguments would have to be: Why not start at the beginning? Namely, in the past few years evidence has been revealed that this book we are all arguing about is in fact NO the word of God handed down to Mohammad. For example, the handful of Korans said to be originals around the world upon examination in recent years reveals that they are (1) incomplete, (2) different from each other, and (3) based on carbon dating may in fact have been written even before Mohammad was born. A second most intelligent argument is that Mohammad was NOT a profit; he never prophesied anything, and certainly if he did it has not come to pass. A third intelligent argument is that one of the reasons people are leaving Islam in favor of Christianity (I am not a Christian by the way) is that Jesus was a healer, whereas Mohammed was certainly not. It is time we, believers and non-believers alike, start giving priority via our actions to the world that our children will inherent from us. My the force be with you.

For Christians, death was conquered by Christ. We do not fear it because we have assurance of everlasting life. Can you say the same? I doubt it because your pedophile prophet did rightly did not know where his destination would have been after he died… So how could you?
Anyway, No one here is interested in your warped theories. Islam is false, that is a no brainer.
Nabeel Qureshi spent years of his life freed from the shackles of this curse you call religion… Leave him alone now. He is at peace with his Lord.
Maybe it is time that you investigated the cult of death you are blindly following…
It is far better to die in Christ than living a life of lies that Mohammed concocted…. But your Islamic brainwashing would never allow you to know it.
Japetto Donatelli says
The most cursed people on the planet are those that believe muhammad and allah represent divinity. The violent and hateful filth they taught is axiomatically insane, morally and intellectually. If Qureshi saw in the story of Jesus something worth attaining then I suggest he was blessed with an understanding of what true godliness is. You walzt in here with boogers of ignorance dripping off your brain and expect people will want to “discuss.” Pal, you could never be part of an intelligent discussion when you proffer a bigoted argument against a dying man dispensing a message of peace and love. We are learning that the real cursed people are those that believe islam is of god, because they are devoid of the kind of understanding and intellect that garners respect and honor among civilized people.
Your video “argument” is so fallacious I wouldn’t even waste my time trying to refute it. It’s obvious you have no appreciation for rational thinking, your entire case is based on faulty generalizations. Anyone with even a “C” understanding of logical thinking could spot the fallacies, like maybe cherry picking, or hasty generalization, or misleading vividness, and false cause fallacy. I say “maybe” because I’m not a logician, I’m working off my high school education from long ago. At any rate, your argument is pathetic, at least in my islamophobic opinion.
Lydia says
Nope, blessed by God and not cursed.
But, mohammed WAS cursed by God and all the evidence is right there!
He died without Christ.
The Bible is true, the quran is false, and the evidence is also there. It does not have to make sense to you for it to be true, but yes, God the Son died for our sins and physically rose from the dead. Christianity refutes islam, period.
If you really want to know, humble yourself and seek God in earnest.
The truth cannot be refuted.

Since Abu Salma keeps spamming this, let’s parse it, shall we?
Let’s assume that he is right that Nabeel Quereshi was wrong to leave Islam and to become a Christian.
He is still saying that Allah would take a peaceful man who loves his fellow Muslims and wants the best for them, and inflict a painful disease on him as punishment for that love; but who is fine with murderous Jihadists living without punishment of any kind.
Would this not prove that Allah is a vicious, murderous deity? It seems that it would. *Very* telling.

Does anyone want to read one of the greatest recorded prophecies ever…just let me know…. Allah and his goliath of nations could not destroy that small nation of Israel… The God of Israel is the true and living God… there is No One Like Him…. no wonder allah(being a demonic spirit) had to deceive Muhammad into. thinking that he was the same God of the Jews and Christians.
If Mo had taken the effort and time to first check out his experience in the cave he would came to a differenr conclusion…. as the Bible says… for no wonder even Satan has transformed himeself into and angel of light…” that is how Mo was deceived.

My mother gave me his book to read some years ago. My recollection is that it was a sincere, authentic story about his struggle to overcome the moral and doctrinal absurdities of islam and become a Christian. I’m not a Christian, or even religious, but I think it’s a great achievement to overcome the madness of islam and become a better person for Christ. Christ was a man one can respect as noble and caring and loving for humanity. This whole idea that an entity like allah and a robber/psycho like muhammad are good examples to be followed is morally retarded and a millstone around humanity’s neck. It’s one of the great disappointments of my meager life to see so many otherwise good people defending or living for islam’s carnival of horrors. To see muslim women be treated like slaves and then hear them defend their own slavery as a “choice” is appalling. To hear our leaders and politicians lie profusely to defend this multifaceted sickness is literally a miracle of moral insanity and intellectual dishonesty. I don’t even know if god exists, but I thank god anyway for courageous souls like this man, and for Spencer and Wilders, Geller and Anne Waters, they are the ones who truly care about the human condition. It’s not hyperbole or flattery to say this, not when we consider the astonishing degree of complacency and complicity for islam. Their good voices are what give me faith that god truly exists, because in their efforts I see the love of god coming through. And the fact they are so slandered and abused for their good work makes me respect them that much more. I suppose I’m sounding a bit sappy at the end. But I don’t care, that’s how I feel about it.
PRCS says
I simply do not have the writing skills necessary to express myself as eloquently as you have done here.

Thanks for the compliment. But in all honesty I’m just an uneducated, simple minded person. I simply speak the way I feel, that’s all. Ya know whose brain I wish I had, Spencer’s. I’ve seen how he handles himself on national tv and at lectures and I marvel. There’s a number of people I admire in this struggle against islam. Anne Marie Waters is another articulate intellectual who does not get the attention she deserves. And Geller is the most gutsy woman I’ve ever seen for human rights. My problem is I’m intellectually lazy. If I took the time to study I might have something intelligent to say. Until that happens all I’ll have is my well intentioned but dumb heart. Oh well, at least I’m on the right team. 🙂

Japetto, good it is that an exemplary life of others is tempting you to consider the existence of God. Let me give you another example: the apostle Paul. Jesus Himself said to Ananias that Saul (whose name later was changed to Paul) will see how much he will have to suffer for His name’s sake. How could Paul have been willing to suffer so much for the doctrine that he taught if it were not true? And Paul later wrote to the Christians in Corinth: “If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.” (I Cor.15:19 ESV) Read the book of John in the New Testament. God bless you and all of us. Here I see that the death of Nabeel Qureshi is doing some good.

It is my hope that we can have at least one full day to grieve Nabeel without the barbaric gloating that has infected this site. In fact I think that no replies should be given to these characters period. Would you be at peace right now with a jihadi having a sword at your neck. I know I would be. You can too. Lose the arrogance. You need a Savior.
Thinking that the way the people around you act is what defines Christianity, instead of the main written texts and teachings, is just plain arrogance.

Pretending that everything came from nothing with some “bang” is just plain arrogance.
I don’t see much arrogance in using science to discover the universe. Arrogance is putting forth ignorant superstition and calling it truth as so many religious people do. I’m not attacking Christianity or any other good religion here, only stating the obvious. Trying to develop logical cosmological theories without pretending (to use your word) that a supreme intellect caused it is anything but arrogant. It’s about as humble a path one could take on the matter. It’s simply saying, let’s take all the best empirical evidence and see where it takes us, no imaginary creatures, no burning bushes, just that facts. That’s not arrogance, that’s humility.
Japetto Donatelli says
Correction, “just the facts.”

It’s odd to me that you don’t see the arrogance in your own statement. What you’re really saying is, anyone who doesn’t agree with my interpretation of the “main texts” are arrogant. It’s precisely that kind of intellectual tomfoolery that has led to countless murder, torture, and wars. And I disagree, how people act is precisely what defines Christianity, especially if they are acting in good conscience and love. In fact, I can’t think of a better definition of the Christian faith than putting Christ’s teachings into action. Jesus “defined” Christianity with the way he acted around other people, the Christian texts hadn’t even been written yet. Christianity is best defined by ones actions or it’s nothing more than ideas on paper. It’s not that there isn’t a smidgen of truth in what you say, it’s more your lack appreciation for the deeper truth that stands out for me. I don’t know much about Christianity, but I’m quite sure Christ would be the first to say that ones actions are the ultimate and best “definition” of what it means to be a Christian. I believe Christ would more readily point at a kind and loving atheist and declare, “that is the definition of Christianity” than he would the written gospels. Christ was not the kind of man who valued intellect and moral codification over good action. I think that’s why he was so awesome. He valued people above all else.

After reading your post I thought of 2 Timothy 2:23-24 ,
Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.
You said this, Wellington this one is for you: Psalm 14: The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
Some of the most “vile” deeds have been committed by “religious” people, islam is a prime example of this. How many good folks were burned at the stake or murdered because some god-fearing bigot was sure they were doing god’s work? how many wars? The core message of your post seems to be a tirade against “arrogance.” But your tone and tenor is that of an arrogant person. I don’t know why I let you rub me the wrong way, ordinarily I wouldn’t waste my time on someone of your caliber. I think it’s because you’re so confident in your dumb-dumb opinions that irks me. I’ve read Wellington’s posts, trust me, he doesn’t need a lecture from you. And one more thing about this,
Preaching “evolution” while ignoring the fact that a majority of the members of any given complex species stay exactly on track for tens of thousands of years, is just plain arrogance.
The theory of evolution does not ignore the longevity of any species, it acknowledges the varied success of species depending on environmental factors. Any given species may last thousands of years or 50+ million years, their success or failure is not a matter of “arrogance,” but of environmental factors within nature. You seem to be the one, in your arrogance, that imbues this fact of nature with some significance beyond Darwinian theory. Though heaven only knows what that might be since you made no effort to explain.
(Wow, I can’t believe I took the time to do this. Oops, I bet that sounded arrogant.)

Now, I’m going to ask how Nabeel, a Medical Doctor, didn’t realize he had such an advanced stomach–until it was too late?
Not trying to be mean–but if HE wasn’t aware of HIS illness at an earlier stage (yes, I know it’s slow growing, but there are symptoms that one would think an MD would be familiar with)—
Nonetheless, he was an intelligent and interesting guy and 34 is just way too early….

I had a beloved cat who appeared fully healthy, and then one day looked a bit off. I took him in to the doctor same day. The vet did some blood work, and told me to call the next day.
The poor kitty died that night. I got the diagnosis next day.
Disease always varies, and is also sometimes misdiagnosed. From what I have read, it sounds as though Qureshi’s doctor checked several other things first to see if they would help. This is not uncommon.

Many a sinner have gazed upon the image of Jesus dying on the cross for their sins.
When all hope was gone and they thought God was through with them because of being heavy laded with sin, they realized how wrong they were. Like a groom going out on a limb, the farthest length, the highest mountain, the deepest ocean, the most agony to rescue and bring back a beloved but gone astray bride, that is how far He went to show us how much He loves us.
And they come in throngs to Him… they humbly kneel, bow, and repent and turn to Christ to receive atonement for their sins and are born again into His new life, raised with His resurrection into victory over sin.
THAT is the power of the cross.
It is VICTORY, not defeat. It was the plan of God, and Jesus agreed to it before the foundations of the world. It is the very POWER of God.
There is an old hymn titled:
HOW DEEP THE FATHER’S LOVE FOR US

Are you actually wanting to know biblical teaching? Or are you just playing games and trolling?
I see nothing in my questions that indicates I’m trolling, those are perfectly rational questions. If you ask me, a poster that comes in here preaching their own religion is trolling. And we got more of those in here lately. Don’t get me wrong, I take it they’re on the right side of things and I’m happy they care about this issue. But that above post or hers has nothing to do with this thread and is off topic. She’s just preaching her own religion in here. That’s trolling to a non-religious person like me who doesn’t value too much delusional thinking. So shut your dumb mouth, unless you can be civil to me.
Have a nice Monday. 🙂

James says
Try reading Romans 2, in context – it is part of a connected argument. The Bible does not spell out all answers to all questions, but even when it does not, it gives plenty of clues. Your question is about the consequences of Who Christ is, and what He has done, and is doing, for those who believe in Him.

All the questions you ask can be answered, but not in a sentence or two.
Joe says
The best answer I have heard is from the the Catholic Church. They have 9 points of salvation. One is “peace on earth to men of goodwill” from the Christmas angel. The Church doesn’t judge; that is the job of Jesus. The Church does give guidance as to how to be saved.
The Church also has “state of grace”, but no one would know whether they are in a state of grace. It is one of those things that has too many rules. But again, it is a good guide.
The habits established in life (AKA appetites) are carried in your soul after you die.
It only takes two parts to live. For animals and plants, that is body and soul. It takes three to have free will. Humans have a body, soul, and spirit. When the body dies, you have your appetites from your soul and intelligence from your spirit. You do not have free will because you only have two parts.
After death, if your appetites torture your intelligence, you won’t be happy. If you was able to reach a communion between your appetites and intelligence while you had a body, things will go well for you.
Japetto Donatelli says
The Church also has “state of grace”, but no one would know whether they are in a state of grace…
But if “no one would know” then how can it have relevance to our spiritual or physical well being? How can one base a theology on something they don’t understand?
When the body dies, you have your appetites from your soul and intelligence from your spirit. You do not have free will because you only have two parts.
Assuming humans even have a soul and spirit, please explain how can I lose my spiritual free will after death but still be free to have appetites and intelligence. How can one possess “intelligence” yet lack the ability to think for their self? How can one have an “appetite” when they lack the free will capacity for desire? And finally, tell me why this makes sense that I should even lose my free will when I die? I thought Jesus was setting us free? Sounds like an eternity of slavery to me.
After death, if your appetites torture your intelligence, you won’t be happy.
If I can’t have free will after death like you said, then how can I be free to feel tortured? Will the god of infinite love impose this torture upon me? If god is truly loving wouldn’t he impose happiness instead? Why would god die on a cross to provide a means of salvation while on earth, but then strip us of our free will after death and allow our souls to be tortured? Does god love us more in the body than he does in spirit? Confusing.
I’m not attacking you personally and I know you meant well. But nothing you offered there did me any good. I’m more confused than ever.

Yep, gentle and fearless he is. I said is because obviously he is alive somewhere else now.

23 devout Muslims were cursed by Allah too to die in this fire: http://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2017/09/14/25-killed-religious-school-jalan-datuk-keramat-fire/
So Allah cursed Muslims 23 times more than he supposedly cursed Nabeel, am I right? He sent 23 Muslims to accompany one Christian.
Great logic.

I discover Nabeel Qureshi in june 2016.I was fascinated on the spot by his personality. I went all over his videos ,And look some of them a second time. After all these hours in his company , first thing I learn , one morning ,in August ,was his cancer. I was not si much suprised because I had notice he seems to restrain quite many burps while speaking.I felt there was something going wrong with his stomach.
Nabeel was an inspiring person to me .A kinf of a saint of our days. He converted to christianity when he realised that his muslim community was indangered by wahhabite community and that his sisters were target by them,: death threat for not following wahhabite rules. Rape also . ( In any ideological community , there is always someone who is more pur than you and for so , if he is in power can threatened you up to death.Look what is going on in S. Arabia .)
If anyone are interested in deep muslim feeling about Nabeel , go on social media and read muslim community bitterness on Nabeel life and death . What a peaceful religion!

Allah is nothing more than an impotent, fictional construct, originally created by Arabic males in order to rationalize their subsequent abhorrent behavior amongst both friend and foe alike. Muslims know that their fictional, bloodthirsty deity doesn’t exist and is therefore powerless, which then requires them to enact evil by their own hands, just like their false prophet instructed them to do so.
