Hillary Clinton and her ghostwriter may be the only two people in America today, outside of the last few besieged university classics departments, to have any idea who Perseus and Medusa are. It is safe to say that when the overwhelming majority of people saw Kathy Griffin’s grotesque image, they thought not of Perseus and Medusa, but of jihad terrorists.
But not Hillary Clinton. After all, remember that she once said: “Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.”
Nothing whatsoever! Beheading in the cause of jihad and Islam? What’s that? This is all about Medusa!
“Donald Trump Retweets Joke About Violence Toward Hillary Clinton,” by Amanda Terkel, Huffington Post, September 17, 2017 (thanks to Darcy):
President Donald Trump shared a tweet Sunday morning that included the image of him hitting a golf ball and striking Hillary Clinton.…
Last week, Clinton noted that there was significant criticism directed toward comedian Kathy Griffin when she held up a fake decapitated head of Trump ― and added that she didn’t remember the same outcry over images of her.
“We recently had this big kerfuffle ― this condemnation of Kathy Griffin ― for the picture she had of herself holding a head of Trump like a play on Perseus holding the head of Medusa,” Clinton said. “They were selling T-shirts and mugs at the Republican [National] Convention with Trump holding my head. Nobody said a word. Not a word!”…

Nobody denies that HRC is well educated and clever person. So she always desire to say something which will puzzle most of Americans (who today remembers that classic “Clash of the Titans” movie from 1981, badly “remake” in 2010?) and thus show how clever and knowledgeable she is, well deserving to be the leader of a uneducated mob?
Westman says
One only needs to read Clinton’s1969 student graduation speech at Wellesley to realize she would be too unlikable to be elected POTUS.
The media made fun of Sarah Palin in a previous election but never tried to paint her as a mean or angry person. Hillary didn’t need any paint.
maghan says
Hillary is dumb. No bones about it. Perseus and Medusa? Who told the dumpy pantsuiter to impose Perseus and Medusa on the equally dumb Griffin’s beheading antics.
No, the beheading stunt had nothing to with Perseus and Medusa. It was what it was: a stupidly grotesque comedy act of beheading Trump a la Islamic style.
Carolyne says
I believe that Medusa’s hair was a mass of wiggling snakes. There is not one snake in the picture unless one counts Griffin.
Rob Porter says
maghan, well educated and clever, but thoroughly evil people served Adolf Hitler and the Nazis, carrying out ghastly experiments on live human beings. It was no different with the foul men who served Lenin and Josef Stalin. So cleverness and education has nothing to do with it, what does matter is the level of an individuals morals and sanity. Hillary Clinton is a an evil and disgusting individuals whose day of reckoning will come, not least when smoldering in hell and screaming for water. Unfortunately this won’t happen soon enough with America is now such a disgusting and corrupt society that this first rate scumbag escapes prison and operates by her and Bill’s own rules. Just watch your news, it is testament to the level of endless lying and decadence, the purveyors of all this – like Wolf Blitzer – oblivious to their contemptible state. They care not one jot about ‘truth’.
mortimer says
Donald Trump cannot control or censor a backyard Halloween prank, but HE DID NOT PERSONALLY HOLD UP TO A CAMERA a fake head of his political opponent, thus suggesting he approved of someone committing an atrocity.
The attempted smear of Donald Trump because of one independent Halloween prankster is despicable. Trump was not aware and no doubt would have condemned it.
However, Kathy Griffin’s bad judgement and innate SADOMASOCHISM was exposed by herself.
Westman says
She’s not through with her self-destructive impulses:
“US comedian Kathy Griffin has said she is “absolutely against Brexit” and promised UK audiences she will “not hold back” when she heads here on her world tour later this year.”
Griffin needs a dunce cap, or better yet, a hijab.
mortimer says
Agree with W. Griffin is actually cutting her own head off. I expect box office returns will not cover the expenses. She’s old news. Sad. Her illness is not funny.
Westman says
Medusa had serpents for hair. Griffin IS a snake. Two other snakes, Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence claim to be making a movie together. They should include Griffin so there could be the first triple-caused box office flop.
TL says
Reserve a little pity for Hillary Cry-Bully.
Tom says
Nope, my first thought on seeing the head held up high by Kathy Griffin was “Holy Crap” she is advocating killing Donald Trump. How anyone could conclude anything else from such a scene is ludicrous.
Both these skanks need to be spending as much time in their self created hellhole of a media nightmare as possible. Perhaps then the public will come to fully realize how evil they both are.
Japetto Donatelli says
There was nothing in Kathy’s sick “humor” that made any reference to Greek mythology from what I saw. It did, however, look a lot like a jihadist holding the president’s head. Only a sleazy politician (a.k.a., Hillary) would excuse such sick behavior with an inane literary reference, and only a tactless, washed up comedienne would consider a violent and graphic depiction of a murdered president to be funny. Despite all the beheadings going on right now against innocent people she thinks it’s funny to depict our president as another victim too. She’s either indifferent to the mass murder for islam or she condones it. Either way she’s trash to me.
I don’t agree with every thing Trump has done, but I do believe the office deserves more respect than this. This is a good example of why we DON’T need restrictions on free speech. Sick and hateful ideas like this create their own antonyms of conscionable morality, we defeat those sick ideas through public censure, ridicule, and reason. We don’t eliminate cars because there’s accidents, and we don’t eliminate free speech because there exists hateful ideas. We’re smart enough to know that the benefits outweigh the risks and that we could never be truly free without it. I think that’s why they called it the “1st” Amendment, it was too important to be anything less.
Kathy never was that funny. She’s even less funny now.
JawsV says
Never, ever, thought Kathy Griffin was funny.

I, and most of my family and friends never heard of her before this.
I, for one, and some of my family and friends, if not the majority, hope not to hear of her again.
Not humorous, sick

Agree. This ‘joke’ shows very poor taste on their part. It’s actually gruesome to look at. If they could feel the valuable sensation of shame, it would be good to feel it in association with this.
And probably 10000 other things.

Hillary: Nobody got outraged over the insulting naked Trump statues, the Trump pinatas being beaten, the grotesqueTrump masks.
I did see the imagery of Perseus holding the head of Medusa (I was an art history major) but of course that is not what Kathy Griffin’s stunt was about. According to the Greek mythology, anyone looking directly at Medusa would be turned to stone. Was that what Griffin was intending? No, of course not. Griffin was channeling her Leftist support for “Muslims and other immigrants” who are supposedly being persecuted by Trump by doing what Islamic terrorists would love to do to Trump. She’s still waiting for her honorary ISIS membership card, btw.
As usual, Hillary Clinton uses her superior intellect and knowledge not to educate but to obfuscate.
gravenimage says
RCCA, I have a degree in Art History myself, and she did not seem to be making direct reference to this at all.
CogitoErgoSum says
I wonder if Hillary knows what a harpy is? In Greek mythology it was a vulture-like bird with sharp talons and the head of a woman. The term was later applied to any woman with a nasty and annoying disposition. Oh yeah ……. Hillary the Harpy ….. please, please, for the love of humanity, stop your screeching and just fly away.
JawsV says
Yeah Hill it was all about Greek mythology not the beheading Muslims!
Hillary will say anything to excuse the Muslims! She is the definition of “Islam apologist.”
Carolyne says
Likely you need look no further than the head resting on the pillow next to Hillary’s head.

A more apt analogy would be Judith holding the severed head of Holofernes, but then Hillary is Ivy League educated.

Um…right. Funny this comes up *months* later.
Of course, given that the only people regularly engaging in decapitation now are pious Jihadists, this seems rather questionable…
Kay says
My thought exactly. It took months to bring out this comment . . . and so how many paid hours of workers whose job was to look for a justification. H just likes to bring up old news to keep the leftist pot stirring against our POTUS.
gravenimage says
Yes–it’s ridiculous. It took this long to try to come up with a less hideous reference than the obvious one. Not very convincing.
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
First she makes a rather strange interpretation of George Orwell’s 1984 and now she commenting on classical references. My, my, could Hillary be gunning for a plum position in academia?

Extremely bizarre.
James says
There is a very simple test of Griffin’s comment: make a head of Obama, and do the same thing with it. Not acceptable to Griffin ? I wonder why…
The truth of the matter is, that Griffin is defending an indefensible instance of bad taste – it is hypocritical to treat Pres. Trump in that way, as well as horribly disrespectful, given the (often justified) Democrat complaints about disrespect for then-Pres. Obama. If disrespect for then-Pres. Obama was objectionable while he was in office, it follows that disrespect for his successor in office must be equally objectionable.
duh swami says
Why is that crooked Hillary woman still running around loose?
John A. Marre says
So Hillary is justifying what this woman did. She believes that it is OK to depict a murder and to promote it as something desirable, as long as it is about a Republican president.
Hillary is an angry, bitter woman. She has thought that she was entitled to the presidency, just because she didn’t divorce her husband who used the office of the presidency to sexually harass Monica Lewinsky.
Shmooviyet says
Agreed!
Speaking of talons, as mentioned in an above comment regarding harpies, Hillary’s need some attention: they’ve grown out and back into her flesh.
Her self-pity has reached epic levels; every week it seems there is another ‘poor me’ rant against the multitudes who caused her loss. No one cared about the mugs and tees! The presidency prize was to ameliorate all that world-stage humiliation, sticking with Bill was her ticket.
She was sick before the election; now she’s permanently warped from the nine-months self-pity bath.
SAM says
Hillary is a megalomaniac. Shame on her blind supporters.
We are now a truly divided nation. COMMUNISTS and CONSERVATIVES. God help us.

A severed head is a severed head…. I don’t care whose historic actions are put forth… I am surprised she didn’t point to the French Revolution… or perhaps that one would have hit too close to the hideous Utopian
worldview she shares with her fellow lovers of death and destruction…. say like Hillary Clinton for example.. who points to tee shirts when she was not president.. she fails to remember (a thing she claims frequently) the her husband when President and she First Lady (gag) had a Chicago fellow arrested for saying something nasty to them while they were on tour….. a far less offensive offence.
Carolyne says
Making a nasty comment to anyone is not an offense. Hillary further demonstrated her ignorance of American law when she told the mother of a Benghazi victim “We will catch him and put him in jail,” referring to the filmmaker.
Carolyne says
Marie Antoinette’s head would have been appropriate to represent Hillary
Ann says
Saying that the stunt was an allusion to Medusa and Perseus makes no sense. There would have to be a resemblance between Trump and Medusa which would seem clever when the viewer saw Griffin holding up his head. There is none. Hillary knows that it was a disgusting photo, that every single viewer would think of innumerable Isis fighters holding up heads they had cut off, and that Trump haters would get a charge out of seeing him murdered and mutilated like that. She also knows that most of us are repulsed by people who are happily willing to identify with Isis fighters if they get to brutally murder someone they don’t like. This was just an extremely lame attempt to say, no, that’s not what it was at all. How unimaginative and uncivil of you not to recognize a clever cultural allusion. While I, as always the cultured, highly educated, and civilized party, must point out to you your uncouthness.
Politicianaphobia says
Hill and Kathy should do like the birds and flock off.
