It is increasingly becoming a criminal offense to criticize Islam and oppose Sharia doctrines in Canada. What is “far right” about PEGIDA (Patriots of Canada Against the Islamization of the West), which supports Western principles of freedom?
Police said they (PEGIDA)…recognize that a person has fundamental right; these include the freedom of opinion, expression, and peaceful assembly.
Are these values disputable?
Although PEGIDA is painted as “far right” and “anti-Islam,” it is more accurate to refer to it as a group of activists, working for the freedom of all Canadians who oppose Sharia principles in the West.

London police arrested two people on Saturday during an anti-Islam rally in front of City Hall, which saw about 100 people, including rally participants and people staging a counter-protest.
The group that organized rally, Patriots of Canada Against the Islamization of the West (PEGIDA), began the protest at Victoria Park before marching down to City Hall.
Police said they “recognize that a person has fundamental right; these include the freedom of opinion, expression, and peaceful assembly” in a news release.
Far right groups, including PEGIDA, organized a similar rally in front of City Hall last month. Up to 500 people gathered during the two-hour event, which pitted anti-Islam groups against counter-protesters.
Police said the vast majority of the gathering on Saturday remained peaceful. They did not give specific details on why the two people were arrested…..
