Jihad Watch

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Pinterest blocks Jihad Watch as “hate speech”

Sep 29, 2017 12:30 pm By Robert Spencer

Here is yet another manifestation of what I have noted frequently lately: that the Left is using Charlottesville as its Reichstag Fire moment, to choke off all dissent.

Why does Pinterest think that Jihad Watch, a site dedicated to tracking the jihad threat, is “hate speech”? Doubtless because of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “hate group” list. Yet the SPLC classifies perfectly legitimate organizations falsely as “hate groups” and lumps them in with the KKK and neo-Nazis. When it comes to lists of “hate groups,” the Southern Poverty Law Center doesn’t have any competitors. Its “hate group” list is the only one around. It’s the only one Pinterest and others can and do refer to when deciding whose speech they will muzzle.

That’s why groups opposing jihad terror and unrestricted immigration, and defending traditional values are being targeted and silenced.

If you use Pinterest, or if you don’t, please contact them at help@pinterest.zendesk.com and politely and courteously register your protest against this fascist suppression of the freedom of speech.

On September 17, Jihad Watch reader A wrote to Pinterest:

Why can I not pin from Jihad Watch or Pamela Geller? I’ve come across this before but had thought it was an internet glitch … now I see you are censoring factual information. These are news reports of events, not ranting about anyone. Please reconsider your ban on these and other sites you consider to be related.

If your intention is to “protect” your users, be aware that you are not allowing us to have information we need to make informed choices.

I’ve enjoyed Pinterest and use it often for recipes, hobbies, homemaking, and tracking news and event trends. While “hate speech” or inciting to violence is horrid, sites you are censoring such as JihidWatch, Pamela Geller, and Breitbart are simply trying to keep people informed. The acts they sometimes report are reprehensible. You not allowing people to know about such acts is also reprehensible.

Later, after Pinterest sent back a generic reply, A wrote again:

The tips you sent do not address my question about censorship. Please let me know if you are in fact blocking pins from Jihad Watch, Pamela Geller, Breitbart, and other sites. If a site is inciting violence, that’s one thing. These sites are spreading information — not slander.

In addition, I would like to see a list of sites you are blocking because you disagree with their apparent viewpoint. Perhaps that list will counter my belief that you are being very selective in the viewpoints you do not want seen. Thank you.

Pinterest replied on September 27:

Hi A,

It’s not currently possible to save Pins from this website because it contains content that goes against our Community Guidelines, specifically hate speech. The reason we block certain websites is to protect our users from coming across potentially sensitive content while using Pinterest.

The “deep state” is a desperate fictional conspiracy theory invented by… the right wing? Russian trolls?. Come on guys and gals, isn’t Jihad watch better than this? I thought on this site we were supposed to put aside partisan differences and concentrate on the threat that Islam poses to the world?

P.S. – I’m a centrist. I agree with the left about somethings, and the right about others.

Re: ” I’m a centrist. I agree with the left about some things, and the right about others.”

Since ALL leftists are extortive gangsters who are against personal property rights, in favor of enforced communal property-sharing and “wealth redistribution” (aka theft), why would anyone EVER vote for ANY of them?!

Simple! You must be a “Millennial!”

New voters are children who don’t yet own much property or pay taxes, who want to continue living in their secure “safe spaces” provided for by a parental “authority” figure (the government).

“Charity” is idolatry and leads to communist extortion and slavery; it is far more noble to be a success and so be able and willing to offer individuals gainful employment dignity than to perpetrate a perpetual victimology.

But extortive communist gangsters slander the businessman as being too selfish to simply give them his earnings.

So, please tell us if you believe in “SOCIAL JUSTICE?”

“I keep what I earn, and you keep what you earn. You disagree? Then tell me how much of what I earn belongs to you, and why?”

          – Walter E. Williams –

In my opinion, the “deep state” of Obama and subordinates/ Hillary/ and the deep state actors of the left Justice dept. are protecting and hiding the Muslim Brotherhood..and the support organizations for sharia as diversity policy ..and all the connections with the middle east …in other words protecting jihadist organization they dealt with and maybe trails of communications of money/weapon movements etc. Now that China has seen the writing on the wall, after their terror jihadist attacks and China has taken action by forbidding the Quran…and dctrine and prayer rug, maybe other countries will get it…..unless they just say China has no human rights…but China will protect it’s people and culture. and themselves. Maybe they know since China has a longer history saw the signs before or they don’t want the disappearing planes of Malaysia or mosques on every corner. Just a theory…they also want to mess with President Trump, since he got elected after making statements that showed there is a curious problem with that “peaceful religion” of no peace. Thanks to Freedom of Information Act, that makes inquires and gets major complete resistance there will be a breakthrough of facts.

I don’t think Pinterest has any strong opinion about whether JW is hate speech. I think Pinterest is just a conformist like many of the other business people doing this sort of thing. To a great extent, all they care about is business and what they imagine might hurt or help their business.

Pinterest and others are brought to heal by people who control the infrastructure. Gab is being attacked in every way because they support free speech. Pinterest sees what happens to Gab and others like them, and decide that they don’t want to fall on the wrong side of the gate keepers who control the infrastructure.

Muhammad affirms that those who do not follow him will be slaughtered

On page 222 (326 in the Arabic) of the earliest Muslim biography of Muhammad:

Abu jahl said to them: “Muhammad alleges that if you follow him you will be kings of the Arabs and the Persians. Then after death you will be raised to gardens like those of the Jordan. But if you do not follow him you will be slaughtered, and when you are raised from the dead you will be burned in the fire of hell.” The apostle [Muhammad] came out to them with a handful of dust saying: “I do say that.”

The only organization capable to stop this farce from continuing is proper government which would investigate such scam group as the SPLC as yet another “hate group” (they hate all “haters,” don’t they?) and its affiliations to various pressure groups and financial “donors.” For that however we would need in the future somehow better president than Trump, I suppose, president capable to rise not only profound hatred against himself but also FEAR by all his enemies. And THAT would bring real change!

Perhaps there is an opportunity here to solve two problems within the same issue. Pinterest has advertisers, one of which may be the SPLC. If it is, an attempt could be made to buy advertising on Pinterest. If it is refused, and the SPLC list is given as the reason, then a case can be made for discrimination and damage by the SPLC; opening a path to a lawsuit and public airing of the evidence behind its ridiculous list, and its false influence.

Unquestioned aspersions have a name, GOSSIP, and that is what the SPLC is inventing and selling.
The SPLC claims there are 900+ hate groups in the US who should be deprived of their first ammendment expression? Really? Are the neo-techs really that gullible? Or, are they too young to have the wisdom to detect cunning exploitation? Or, does big money corrupt everything?

Don’t let them get away with censorship simply because they are being nearly impossible to contact. Flood their office with paper communications. It’s old form, but it still works.

    Letter to Pinterest:

Hi, I saw that your company blocked Jihad Watch as alleged “hate speech” based on the SPLC designation. This is wrong. Not only is it a violation of freedom of speech, but Jihad watch cannot even be properly called a hate speech site, since it is only about exposing violent forms of Islam (often called “Islamism”).

They say that “groups opposing jihad terror and unrestricted immigration, and defending traditional values are being targeted and silenced.”

Blocking them seems very un-American. Thanks for listening.

I use Pinterest – and I use it for two reasons and two reasons alone.
    1. Recipes
    2. Plating Techniques

Yes, I’m a very enthusiastic home cook! Seriously though, that’s it. Pinterest is a hodge podge of a site where you basically collect information and images and gather them together under your own profile, as a means to share with others and show what your interests are. Its just an online whiteboard that everyone shares, that’s all.

Just. An. Online. Whiteboard. Its about as important to the human species as an empty flour bag.

I genuinely cannot think of a single justification whatsoever, for a site like Pinterest to be making equivocations on hate speech. I’ll happily email them, hell I’ll lose the profile if it comes to it.

Educating the world on the truth about Islam comes well before endless recipes for Thermomix fudge. Keep up the good work, Robert – you have a vitally important role in Western civilization and one day (hopefully soon) the rest of the world will finally acknowledge your efforts and importance to us all.
