Somali Muslim migrant Mohammad Barry in February 2016 stabbed multiple patrons at a restaurant owned by an Israeli Arab Christian; Ahmad Khan Rahami, an Afghan Muslim migrant, in September 2016 set off bombs in New York City and New Jersey; Arcan Cetin, a Turkish Muslim migrant, in September 2016 murdered five people in a mall in Burlington, Washington; Dahir Adan, another Somali Muslim migrant, in October 2016 stabbed mall shoppers in St. Cloud while screaming “Allahu akbar”; and Abdul Razak Artan, yet another Somali Muslim migrant, in November 2016 injured nine people with car and knife attacks at Ohio State University. 72 jihad terrorists have come to the U.S. from the countries listed in Trump’s initial immigration ban.
What’s more, all of the jihadis who murdered 130 people in Paris in November 2015 had just entered Europe as refugees. In February 2015, the Islamic State boasted it would soon flood Europe with as many as 500,000 refugees. The Lebanese Education Minister said in September 2015 that there were 20,000 jihadis among the refugees in camps in his country. On May 10, 2016, Patrick Calvar, the head of France’s DGSI internal intelligence agency, said that the Islamic State was using migrant routes through the Balkans to get jihadis into Europe.
Does Jesus Christ really expect us to expose our children and grandchildren to this threat? Maybe so, but whatever the truth about his opinions may be, in saying this the Pope is essentially reading out of the Catholic Church anyone who opposes mass Muslim migration. He is saying that to be concerned about a future Europe and North America that are likely to be full of bloodshed and civil strife is not a Christian position. As far as Pope Francis is concerned, the only Christian act in this regard is to choose to subject one’s children and grandchildren to dangers that could easily have been prevented were it not for these migration policies.
Is it really a Christian requirement to be in favor of one’s home country committing cultural suicide?
In spreading his nonsense, the Pope is endangering his own people, particularly in light of the papal idolatry that is rampant in the Catholic Church today.
“Leave them; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” (Matthew 15:14)
“Pope Francis: Jesus Christ Himself Asks Us to Welcome Migrants ‘With Arms Wide Open,’” by Thomas D. Williams, Breitbart, September 27, 2017 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
Pope Francis has once again launched an appeal for greater acceptance of migrants and refugees, insisting that it is Jesus Christ who urges us to welcome them.
Greeting representatives of Caritas—an international Catholic outreach organization—after his weekly General Audience in a sunny Saint Peter’s Square, the Pope officially inaugurated the group’s “Share the Journey” campaign, established to offer solidarity with migrants everywhere.
“I welcome the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees who, together with the workers from Caritas Italy and other Catholic organizations, are the sign of a Church that tries to be open, inclusive and welcoming,” Francis said.
After thanking members of the group for their “untiring service,” the pontiff asked the thousands gathered in the Square to offer them a “big round of applause.”
“With your daily life,” he said, “you remind us that Christ himself asks us to welcome our brother and sister migrants and refugees with arms wide open.”
“That’s right, with arms wide open,” Francis continued, “ready for a sincere, affectionate and encompassing embrace, kind of like this Colonnade of Saint Peter’s Square, which represents the church as mother embracing everyone, sharing in the common journey.” The Pope was referring to the rows of columns flanking Saint Peter’s Square like two open arms, designed by Italian artist and architect Gianlorenzo Bernini….
Last week, the Pope urged European nations to welcome more migrants throughout the continent, telling his hearers to beware of the “intolerance, discrimination and xenophobia” that have sprung up around Europe.
Speaking with directors of the Church’s pastoral work with migrants, the Pope recognized the malaise caused by the “massive migrant flows” in Europe that have “thrown into crisis migratory policies held up to now.”…
“I won’t hide my concern in the face of the signs of intolerance, discrimination and xenophobia that have arisen in different regions of Europe,” the pontiff said, which are “often fueled by reticence and fear of the other, the one who is different, the foreigner.”
“I am worried still more by the sad awareness that our Catholic communities in Europe are not exempt from these reactions of defensiveness and rejection, justified by an unspecified ‘moral duty’ to conserve one’s original cultural and religious identity,” he said.

mortimer says
The first Muslim raid to Rome took place in 846AD when Muslim raiders from north Africa rowed up the Tiber and plundered a number of religious sites including the Church of St. Peter, stealing the holy altar above Peter’s tomb. Muslim raiders continued to menace Rome. In response, Lothar called for an expedition to neutralize them. Pope Leo IV raised fortifications around Rome and outskirts. Upon completion, the pope sanctified the new defenses by walking around the perimeter of the walls, asking Christ to protect the consecrated city against the vicious infidel Muslims. The same pope blessed a fleet sailing to battle the Muslim invaders. When they were scattered by a storm, Neapolitan sailors captured them and brought them to Rome where they were forced to build the fortifications of Rome’s walls.

You are correct – Its hard for me to believe he talks like this because he is supposed to have a great deal of information from around the world. Yet he ignores the facts that are all around us. It is not Christian to expose your children, old people and any others in your communities to the dangers of immigration. When there is a segment of a Religion which announces that it wishes to destroy infidels ( most everyone else) and has shown it acts on those threats, you had better believe them and stop them from immigrating to your lands.

And he is demanding that Europe open it’s doors to the enemies of Christ…as Islam vigorously denies that Jesus is the Son of God.
“Loving your enemies” does NOT mean opening your front door to enemies so they can over-burden your welfare programs; assault your sons; rape your daughters; destroy your churches; ruin your culture; and kill innocent bystanders. It means to share the life-giving Gospel with them… and that should be done in their native lands. What we are witnessing is NOT the plight of refugees; it is an invasion of hostile, military-aged Muslim men.

Therein lies the magnitude of European Union’s – or Europe’s of the so called “elites” – betrayal of secularism (laicite). Towards Christianity Europe has become increasingly secular – and I am OK with it. But with respect to Mohammedanism, Europe’s rulers seek to establish a society, rules, laws and concessions whereby one religion is getting very preferential treatment, and the “native” religion of Europe is being oppressed and castigated.
I still do not see the logic behind all this. Why this kind of treason towards your kith and kin?
Money changing hands can’t be the complete answer. Pope is not paid by Saudis or Qataris. There is something else guiding this development, and that else is very ominous and suicidal.

All you write has the ring of truth to it, therefore, I support wholeheartedly what you write. This pope is an elitist. The “elites”, it seems want to kill off western culture, The elites, it would seem, want to make the killing off of western culture, look like suicide, instead of the actual murder, that the killing of western culture truly is. Why? So that the “elites”, still have the “moral authority” to rule after the murder of western culture? One answer, but it would seem, the question of why, should have many answers.
Pope needs to read the Bible says
Muslims are not my brothers or sisters. To be my brother or sister, you have to believe that Jesus is the only Son of God and came, died on the cross and rose again on the third day. You must also admit that you are a sinner, turn away from your sin and accept Jesus as your only way to heaven. Muslims do not believe that he is the son of God and would consider my belief in that as a reason to cut off my head.

Why have nations of the West dominated the globe for the last five hundred years, when for centuries they lagged behind great civilizations in India, China and the Moslem world? Why were a few small countries on the western fringe of the great Eurasian continent able to spread their culture all around the world when other cultures did not? Why did a group of daring navigators from Western Europe—Columbus in 1492, Vasco de Gama in 1499, Ferdinand Magellan in the 1520s and others—launch the Age of Discovery with globe-girdling voyages in tiny ships, instead of men such as the great Chinese Admiral Zheng He, who sailed thousands of miles across the Indian Ocean in huge treasure ships nearly a century earlier?
Questions like these have puzzled scholars for centuries. However, the deliberate removal of courses in Western Civilization from schools and universities and a failure to discuss the role of religion or the Bible have obscured key elements in the remarkable rise of the West. As a result, many today are largely ignorant of one of the most dramatic turning points in the history of the world—a transformation of global proportions that has been termed by some as “the miracle of the West.”
What led to the rise of Western Civilization? How did it happen, and what does this pivotal event reveal about God’s hand in history?
Numerous scholars have proposed ideas to explain the remarkable rise of the West. In his book, Historians Debate the Rise of the West, Jonathan Daly chronicles many of their theories. For instance, some believe that geography and climate favored Europe. The acquisition and use of navigational instruments and advanced ship design, as well as the development of more powerful armaments made important contributions. Other scholars have pointed out that more efficient economic systems and methods of production and the growth of global trading networks aided the West. Others cited the respect for law and private property, the free exchange of ideas that fostered innovation, and competition that fed the growth in science, technology and capitalism.
In contrast to thinking in the East that glorified the past and sought to maintain the status quo and harmony in the present, the West focused on progress and by learning to harness the forces of nature for the betterment of mankind—and for profit (Louis Rougier, The Genius of the West, pp. 89–91).
Taken together, these and other factors operating in Europe, “transformed the balance of the world within an amazingly brief period of time… The magnitude of European cultural achievements in the sixteenth-seventeenth centuries…arouses a sense of wonder and amazement” (William H. McNeill, The Rise of the West: A History of the Human Community, pp. 574, 598). Yet, as historian Christopher Dawson has pointed out, “none of these causes seems adequate to explain the magnitude of the European achievement” (Religion and the Rise of Western Culture, p. 15).
Dawson also notes that the British historian Lord Acton once commented, “Religion is the key of history.” While modern secular scholars tend to dismiss the influence of religion in history, biblical principles did play a critical role in the rise of the West.
Max Weber, a prominent German sociologist, “emphasized a constellation of historical features he considered unique to Europe.” especially the “radical change in religious outlook—from Catholicism to Protestantism.” Such factors “brought the West to materialistic prominence in the modern world” (Historians Debate the Rise of the West, pp. 8–9).
The Protestant Reformation shows detail of massive change in Europe’s religious landscape, as well as the many doctrines, teachings, and practices that infected
European “Christianity.”
However, buried amid the distortions, remained some surviving biblical values and principles that did make a mark on European culture in a powerful way.
Jonathan Daly has noted that some scholars, such as Dr. David Landes, credit the presence of such biblical principles for instilling an appreciation of hard work, widespread literacy (for both men and women), thrift, diligence, and other ethics into European civilization.
Rodney Stark, a professor of sociology and comparative religion, writes that modern scholarship is “far too reluctant to acknowledge the positive effects” that such religious influence had on the culture of the West. He goes on to explain that science as we know it flourished in Europe instead of elsewhere “because Europeans believed in God as the Intelligent Designer of a rational universe” that operated on laws that could be discovered and put to practical use (How the West Won, pp. 5, 13, 315–317).
In contrast, in Islam, the universe did not operate on laws but according to the will of Allah—which was not conducive to the development of science—thus the innovations in the Islamic world were driven by Jews and other Christian sects.
While the Chinese developed printing, mechanical clocks and gunpowder, they never exploited the potential of these innovations because they threatened to disrupt the stability of their society. Islamic caliphs outlawed mechanical printing for religious reasons (ibid., pp. 12–13, 33–45).
Yet even these insights are not sufficient to explain the rise of the West.
Above all else, Europe’s rise to prominence was enabled by Christian Values.
It is not a coincidence that the rise of the West occurred just as Asian societies turned inward and “suddenly became immobile… [T]hey cut themselves off from a changing external world just when European expansion was beginning” (Geoffrey Barraclough, Turning Points in World History, p. 24). Once the West started to rise in the sixteenth century, “it seemed that nothing could hold it back” (Historians Debate the Rise of the West, p. 23). But why did one civilization rise and the others decline—almost at the same time?
These values did help us and we could be an example and a help to all the peoples of the world.
Though we cast aside many of those ways and concepts as the centuries passed, some of those ways, concepts and ideas survived to become a part of the foundation of Western civilization that has transformed the world over the last five hundred years. The dramatic rise of the West—one of the most important turning points in the history of the world—illustrates the effectiveness of those ways.
There are such “social values” today in Europe, America, and Australia only because during those thousand years the Christians of Europe possessed the warlike power to do what the Christians of Asia and Africa had failed to do – that is, to beat back the Moslem invader.

Well, this pope apparently took (too much) to his heart altruistic moral code of values: self-sacrifice. Not only for “him-self” but also demanding that OTHERS sacrifice their lives as well. It is purest altruism. Not altruism as “kindness” as most people mistakenly consider it to be but morality of SACRIFICE of higher value to the lower value. Apparently he and all like him think that they will be rewarded for that sacrifice in some unspecified “future life.” But if you hold your CURRENT life as the highest value you have no choice but to REJECT altruism as the most evil moral code ever imposed on humanity. I guess this Pope is saying that Jesus Christ was very accepting of people and especially the outsider and the oppressed (Samaritans, etc.). So, his way of interpreting that is, “Just let them all in”. Suicidal idiocy. But I know that the Christian religion certainly doesn’t say it is right to commit suicide, which is exactly what this idiotic Pope is calling for the European people to do. He’s a dangerous fool. There’s also the idea of a “just war” in Christianity, whether that be fighting against and defeating evil Nazism or fighting against evil invading Muslims and kicking them out of Europe as was done in the past. If Muslim invaders aren’t kept out of Europe, and every other non-Muslim nation, there will eventually need to be warfare to kick them out. So the Pope’s open door policy will inevitably lead to violence and warfare, whereas keeping Muslims out will give people a more peaceful life. The latter is a preferable choice by far. I believe a choice which will produce peace is a better moral choice .

Maybe not exact word for word, but there is at least enough there that it could be argued Jesus would not turn away refugees. Of course, as the Catechism also teaches, those refugees have the obligation to respect the welcoming host country’s laws and customs. I don’t think murdering your host nation’s inhabitants is respecting the host country’s laws and customs. So there is plenty of room for reasonable discussion of who should or shouldn’t be allowed admittance and under what conditions.

I know you requested New Testament references, but is it your position that the God of the Old Testament is different from the God of the New Testament?
Historian says
The great majority of those being labeled “refugees” to Europe are economic migrants, not refugees at all. Even the majority of those who at one time actually fled a war are trying to get into the West FROM UN refugee camps or third countries i.e. they are not even directly escaping a war when they try to enter. They leave a “refugee” camp or a third country, where they are already safe from war to go Europe because there is a more generous welfare state and wages are higher. So most of these are economic migrants too as regards their attempted entry into the West.
The West should turn back ALL illegal entrants clarifying to them that they MUST document their “refugee” claims in the last camp or country of refuge that they left, and if they are economic migrants they must return to their home countries. Entrance may be granted to the most dire cases, namely those who would actually be persecuted in a refugee camp or country of first refuge because of religion or political belief (UN protocol 1951), not simply because they once fled a war.
As for your OT quotations, do you really not understand that no Christian church has ever claimed that all OT commandments are binding on Christians? Otherwise Christians would be following kosher, circumcision, etc (Note the context of these passages: forbidding the wearing of mixed fibers, forbidding the boiling of a kid in its mother’s milk, commandment to circumcise, etc). And that’s not even getting into the enormous differences between the political economy of the ancient Mediterranean (slavery, child labor, high mortality, no welfare state, the bulk of the population on subsistence agriculture, which allowed families to attempt to feed themselves even as it limited mobility…and the political economy of the post-industrial welfare states.

I agree with the point you are making about the Pope. I feel sure he, and so many political leaders who prattle on about Islam being peaceful, and having nothing to do with terrorism, etc, haven’t read any of the basic texts of Islam. They are completely ignorant and therefore shouldn’t be saying anything about the subject. Of course, these political leaders have a lot to keep up with, and can’t be expected to know about all subjects, but Islam, and the problems it is causing to their countries, surely needs to be something all political leaders, and this Pope, must take the time to learn about. The total ignorance our political leaders often display about Islam’s true nature is staggering and endangers us all.

If the Pope could convince me that the Muslims coming to Europe truly are refugees fleeing the evil of Islam, I would vigorously support him. However, I am currently convinced that most Muslims coming to the West are holding firmly to the idea that Christianity is evil and it must be subdued and eliminated. Are there any statistics as to how many of the Muslims who have come to Europe have also as a result become Christians? How is the Pope making it easier for Muslims to convert to Christianity and how is he encouraging them to do so? I don’t see the Pope showing as much concern about the spiritual needs of these people as he does about their physical needs. What happened to the idea that man does not live by bread alone? This Pope should be spitting upon the dirt of Islam, rubbing the truth about it into the eyes of the blind and then telling them to cleanse themselves through immersion in the living water of Christ. But no …. instead of bringing Christ to the Muslims this Pope is choosing instead to bring Islam to the Christians. Francis is not only acting like Peter when he was on the road headed in the opposite direction of Christ on His way to be crucified again, this Pope is also gathering the mob to bind Christ’s hands and spit in His face..

Hey – at least Peter turned around. Maybe Francis will too (it may take an in-person one-on-one visit from our Lord and Savior).

This Pope is pure Evil
Chris Malan says
Ho can you say so? This is a Catholic site. And all good Catholics hold the Pope in the highest regard.
c matt says
Being a Pope and being evil are not necessarily mutually exclusive. All good Catholics hold the office of the Papacy in the highest regard, and get particularly peeved with impostors and incompetents. Much like all good Americans should hold the office of the Presidency or the Supreme Court in high regard, despite the occupants of the offices.

Back in the days of Jesus, the Roman empire had lots of walls – and lots of Barbarians on the outside, trying to get in… I don’t recall Jesus Christ saying “Open up these walls” ?!
Baucent says
Once again the Pope is relying on his faulty memory of Biblical verses to make inaccurate statements. He appears to be making a loose re-interpretation of Jesus parable of the Sheep and the Goats in Matthew chapter 25. In the parable the “King” (Jesus) commends the “sheep” (righteous believers) for “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
The question is; who is a “brother” of the King Jesus? The answer can only be believers and followers of Jesus. The only other interpretation possible is Jesus may have being referring to his brother Jews and the parable is about those who helped the Jews when they were persecuted. There is simply no way a non believer or muslim would be referred to as a “brother”. So the Pope would only be correct if he framed the refugee comment around helping Christian refugees, Assyrians and Copts for example.

catechism of the catholic church, paragraph 841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims.
“The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”

Carolyne says
I am an Atheist, but was raised as a Christian, but not a Roman Catholic. As I recall, Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father but through me.” Since Muslims do not recognize Christ as the Son of God, how can they be considered brethren of Christians? The very name “Christian” means followers of Christ.
I have noticed that when Catholics recite the Lord’s Prayer, they omit the last two sentences which Protestants recite, “For thine is the power…..” I always thought this was omitted so that the Pope’s power over his followers would be supreme to God’s.
But as I said, I am an Atheist. When I became an adult I “Put away childish things.” I understand that believing in a higher power who looks out for you personally would be a comforting thing to believe, but there are too many ills in the world to believe an intelligent being orchestrates them; Or at least has control of them. My quarrel with Islam, though, is their bloodthirsty and immoral prophet who in all likelihood was psychotic, yet men follow his example.

If you read the gospels wherein Jesus teaches His followers the “Our Father,” the last two sentences Protestants add are not in the actual scripture where Jesus teaches this prayer – see, e.g., Mt. 6:9 (so much for sola scriptura). For that reason, is it said separately from the Our Father at the NO mass, after the Priest invokes God to deliver us from evil and grant peace in our day (it goes “Our Father” then Priest invocation, then “Thine is the kingdom….”)
Well, childish or no, the question is whether it is true. If “comforting” equates to childish things, it is comforting to believe none of this matters and there is no final judgment risking the eternal fires of hell.

Or at least have the Vatican finance these organizations which are presently being supported by the US taxpayer. There’s no business like show business.

All good Catholics listen to the Pope. Better listen to him, Robert. If the Pope says so, it is so. A heretical protestant like myself has no problem saying the Pope is again talking nonsense. Nonsense is very popular.

Yes, because no Protestant anywhere ever spoke nonsense.
Historian says
This is a spectacular logical non sequitur. A claim by a Protestant that yet another pope is talking “nonsense” is not a claim that no Protestant ever spoke nonsense.

Pope you are an evil man. Trying to further your political agenda by asking to take in Muslim immigrants , Do not drag Christ into this by quoting something that He never said. You kept your mouth shut when Christians were being beheaded and drowned by the Muslims. There are daily killings of Christians in Turkey and Egypt and you say nothing. Learn to shut up, or the world Christian community will shut you up. You should give up the Papacy, you are bringing disgrace to it.

Islam did not exist when Jesus was alive.. The Pope, again, is twisting Jesus’ words. How dare he.. He may wear the garments of a Pope, but his heart is not Christian.
In Iraq Christians who speak Amaraic , the language supposedly used by Jesus Christ, are in danger of being wiped out by islam. Where is the Pope on them? Why isn’t he focusing his attention on their safety?

Does the Holy Father believe that the Muslim “Brand” is to kill all infidels whenever there’s an opportunity, or does he believe that all people-Muslims included-should be treated humanely? Lorensacho says
Asking if Jesus would approve of an immigrant who came to our country and killed others is an insult to he who died on the cross for your sins. Loving the stranger is part and parcel of Christianity and Judaism. Those in the White House who want to do away with strangers are blaspheming their religion particularly when so many of them pretend to be devout believers.
Carolyne says
Lorensacho, you are making no sense. On the one hand, you say that ascribing to Jesus approval of an immigrant who would kill is an insult to Jesus, yet you advocate loving the stranger, even though he is a killer, i.e. the Muslim. You say that is “Part and Parcel” of Christianity and Judaism. On the other hand you condemn those in the White House as blasphemers because they would protect us from these killers by not allowing them to enter the country.
It amazes me how those who hate the President twist things even though they make no sense. They have lost all sense of reason.
Ric says
Carolyne, well said, some folks apparently have to disparage the President, Trump, when the issues have nothing to do with Trump.

As a Catholic, I see this Dhimmi Pope as a dangerous man who wants to destroy Christendom. If he at least had some kind of active missionary conversion network to get Muslims to convert to Christianity…then he would have some credibility as the Defender of the Faith…but he doesn’t. He’s more a defender of Islam and apparently wants Europe to become an Islamic caliphate and Churches to become mosques.

This is a difficult time for catholics:if you can manage to keep your faith, that would be good. You are being deceived by the man in Rome.
But what is happening under the phoney francis should come as no surprise to catholics…
Pope Paul VI 1972 “the smoke of satan has entered the church”
Pope John Paul II 1976
“We are now facing the final confrontation between the church and the anti-church,between the Gospel and the anti-gospel,between Christ and the anti-Christ.
The confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence”
Also,if you are catholic then you should know that {Fatima,1917}predicted a false papacy that would spread apostasy.

The World is slowly waking to its defeat by ignorant leaders that blatantly turn their heads away from the crimes that are being committed. We now have Nazis running the UN. The United States is a used up rag of waste that lies down and does nothing about the corruption that goes on in these religious gangs. Take away the religion and all you have is a global gang of violent losers. Will the world retrogress under the rule of Nazi religion? You, the people, are allowing this by not kicking out useless loser government so-called leaders. Vote out people like the Mayor of London as a first measure to address the current situation. Systematic religious racism occurs when a minority race that wants a religious government abuses the majority race that does not want a religious government. This is carried out with the vulnerable system of law which does nothing to protect society from religious zealot Nazis.
