Deradicalization programs are an abject failure. For any rehab program to work, there must be a willingness for the participant to change. Yet jihadis deem themselves to be heroes and zealously pursue martyrdom, which comes with plaudits of heroism and paradisal awards beyond this world.
Less than a year ago, France’s deradicalization program was declared a failure after wasting tens of millions of taxpayer euros. It was found that “deradicalization, either in prisons or the centers… does not work because the great majority of Islamic fundamentalists do not want to be deradicalized.”
Recently in the Netherlands, a “deradicalized” jihadist was also discovered to be spreading jihad messages to young Muslims.
Meanwhile, British police have arrested a third man in connection with the Parsons Green tube bombing.
“Claim: Suspected Refugee Terrorist Reported to De-Radicalisation Scheme Months Before Attack”, by Liam Deacon, Breitbart, September 19, 2017:
The 18-year-old Iraqi refugee suspected of planting the Parsons Green ‘bucket bomb’ was reported to the government’s Prevent de-radicalisation scheme just months ago, it has been claimed.
The teenager was being fostered by a couple in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, and was said to have been a troublemaker who was arrested just two weeks before the attack.
The improvised explosive device with a timer partially detonated at Parsons Green station on Friday morning, injuring around 30 people. Islamic State has claimed responsibility.
On Monday night, sources told the Daily Mail that the youth’s behaviour was so alarming before the attack he was reported to Prevent, which aims to deter potential extremists from terrorism.
The referral was reportedly made several months ago through Surrey County Council, which was responsible for placing the teenager with Penny and Ronald Jones, the elderly couple who cared for him.

It is not clear what authorities did to de-radicalise the man and if the alleged referral was acted on at all. However, the claim will raise questions about whether the authorities could have done more, after U.S. President Donald Trump said the attacker was “in the sights of Scotland Yard”….
Michael Copeland says
The “refugee” alleged to be 18 years old was “reported” to the Prevent programme. The report does not say he attended it.
Experienced Jihad Watch readers know that such programmes are of little use.

And that the notion of “radicalization” is pure bunk.
John Forbes says
I REALLY WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE OR BE MAIMED BEFORE THE COWARDS IN THE HOUSE OF COWARDS WILL ADMIT THE PROBLEM IS ISLAM ???
THIS CONTINUAL DENIAL MUST BE ENRAGING MANY BY NOW ???

These poor dears have been brainwashed by the mysterious force of the online terrorist propaganda. Propaganda which has the power to turn even the most avid supporter of our democracy, free speech and equality for all, to hate everything we stand for. And it can happen to anyone – that it happens exclusively to muslims is simply a coincidence. Just prey it doesn’t happen to you one day when you happen to come across a video mandating warfare against unbelievers.
Radicalisation programmes will of course take time to work – these unfortunate individuals who undoubtedly used to love our way of life before being struck by the propaganda, simply need more time to rid themselves of the hate. Deep down there is always an abundance of love, as that is what their religion has taught them. They simply forgot – got off track. And we need to bring them back at all cost.
John A. Marre says
If you believe that a Muslim can be radicalized, then you can believe that he can be de-radicalized. The truth is, that he’s already radicalized, by the very fact of his membership in the religion that is by its very nature radical.
PRCS says
I disagree, John.
Islam is not a “radical” religion.
It’s just another religion–though a particularly ugly one–which needs to be scrutinized and, as appropriate, criticized–like any other.
Carolyne says
I don’t think Islam is even a religion at all. It is a political philosophy bent on taking over the world, much as Communism did. However, it is more deadly than Communism, if that is possible.
Benedict says
When the repulsive dogmas of Islam have rooted themselves in the mind of Muslims it takes a miracle to extract the poison.

The west has to understand that to de-radicalize the violent verses of the Koran needs to be taken out. That is impossible since muzzies believe those verses to be the direct word of God. Also if those verses are taken out then Koran will become a very thin book which wont make any sense at all.
Walter Sieruk says
Of course that British “deradicalization program” wouldn’t work on that 18 year old Iraqi “refugee” or any other thoroughly mind programmed jihadist who was, very much, brainwashed into the Islamic Quran based Islamic terrorist mindset. Those imams of other Muslims really know how to strongly ingrain and indoctrinate hard core non-watered down jihad based Islam into the hearts and minds of many young Muslims.
Since that damage was already done no “deradicaliztion program” would be able to help of straighten out a brainwashed jihadist. As the philosopher Emmanuel Kant had written “Out of the crooked timber of humanity no straight thing can ever be made.” Likewise the ancient Greek playwright wrote “Even the wisest of the wise can never make a crab walk straight.”

Walter, some few Muslims *have* left Islam. The existence of apostates proves that.
But Infidels cannot induce Muslims to leave Islam.
Peacemaker says
The best way of “deradicalization” is getting rid of Islam and Quran.
Greyhound Fancier says
And close the mosques and deport the imams.

“deradicalization, either in prisons or the centers… does not work because the great majority of Islamic fundamentalists do not want to be deradicalized.”
If that isn’t the most basic, most fundamental truth about this ridiculous deradicalization program idea, then I don’t know what is.
For Pete’s sake! I’m an Atheist. If anyone tries throwing me in a program where I’m fed a stream of pure drivel all day every day about how I’m wrong and Jesus or HaShem or Allah or whatever is ‘right’ and that I need to change how I think, in order to rejoin society freely – I can assure you now, its not going to work.
Hell you can waterboard me if you want. I’d probably break, in fact, I’m damn sure I would. I’d babble anything you want to hear come out of my mouth to make it stop.
But it wouldn’t change my views. It wouldn’t change the views of any other Atheist, or any Christian, or Jew, or at that – any Muslim!
And I don’t go running around, plotting to blow up innocent people, shrieking ‘IN THE NAME OF NOOOOOOOOOOOOOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’ Ergo, my views frankly, would be considerably easier to change, if you believe in this deradicalization nonsense, just simply because of the stakes at play.
Did they think cuddles and warm fuzzy feelings and clinical psychologists calmly repeating over and over again ‘Achmed, now you know this. Killing people is bad. Wanting to murder people and to die in the attempt, so that you can go straight to Paradise and collect your 74 virgins is not nice and its incorrect thinking’ – did they really think that was going to work?? Throw in some finger painting maybe? Or chuck in a rock band and have a party with some halal popcorn and cherry pick the friendlier passages from that POS book they can all babble by rote?
Honestly – round up every single dimwit who led to the creation and rollout of these expensive programs and fire them. Remove their ability to either practice medicine in any form, or form policy in any form. Because they are clearly too damn stupid to have their fingers into the purse of the national budget and cannot be trusted to spend responsibly, OUR MONEY.
Anne Smith says
Anyone attending a “de-radicalisation” programme is bound to meet up with others also attending it and who have a similar mindset to his. Therefore it is probable that they are actually strengthening the attendees devotion to Islam by putting them altogether and creating an almost secret society meeting under the cover of “de-radicalisation”.
A bit like prisoners of war – perhaps they develop the same tenacity and defiance under cover.
Carolyne says
It might be possible to “Deradicalize” a Jihadist, but you would have to beat the s**t out of him first.
