Note the vicious bias of the BBC article. First, in accord with standard mainstream media practice, the “Palestinian” would-be mass murderers are “militants,” not jihadis: the BBC and the media establishment in general does not recognize that there is a jihad against Israel or against any other non-Muslim polity. If they did, they would be forced to provide some explanation of the jihad doctrine, and that would shift public sympathy decidedly in Israel’s favor.
Meanwhile, the 2014 conflict “left at least 2,251 Palestinians dead – including more than 1,462 civilians, according to the UN – and 11,231 injured. On the Israeli side, 67 soldiers and six civilians were killed, and up to 1,600 injured.”
Not a word about the relentless anti-Israel bias of the UN. Not a word about how the “Palestinians” deliberately and consistently launched jihad attacks from civilian areas, hoping to provoke retaliatory fire they could use for propaganda purposes. Not a word about the manifest fact that if the “Palestinians” laid down their arms, there would be peace, while if the Israelis laid down their arms, there would be genocide.
The clear intent is to give people the impression by means of the casualty figures that Israel is acting improperly in defending itself against the “Palestinian” jihad. All right. During World War II, the Germans lost about seven million people, including about two million civilians. The British lost about 383,000 people, including 67,000 civilians. So by the BBC’s logic, the Nazis were in the right.
In line with that, note the BBC’s headline: “Gaza: Palestinian militants killed as Israel hits tunnel.” Did the BBC run headlines like that during World War II? “Germany: German militants killed as Britain hits Berlin.” They wouldn’t have dared express sympathy for the enemy in such a way. And by running that headline now, they make their sympathies clear.
“Gaza: Palestinian militants killed as Israel hits tunnel,” BBC, October 30, 2017:
Seven Palestinian militants were killed and several others injured when Israel destroyed a tunnel running from Gaza into Israel, Palestinian officials say.
It is understood that five of those who died were members of Islamic Jihad. The Hamas military wing said two of its members were killed in a rescue effort.
The Israeli military said the “terror tunnel” was still under construction when it was “neutralised”.
Israel is using sophisticated measures to thwart tunnels dug by militants.
It destroyed more than 30 tunnels during a 50-day war with militants in Gaza in the summer of 2014, and has found three since then.
During that conflict, fighters from Hamas used tunnels to infiltrate Israeli territory on four occasions, killing 12 soldiers.
The conflict left at least 2,251 Palestinians dead – including more than 1,462 civilians, according to the UN – and 11,231 injured. On the Israeli side, 67 soldiers and six civilians were killed, and up to 1,600 injured.
The Israeli military said the tunnel it destroyed on Monday ran from Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, into Israeli territory, about 2km (1.2 miles) from the community of Kissufim….

OK, since BBC and Brit politicians straddle issues so much, in their painful exercise of semantics, let’s call these Muslims “whatever” instead of jihadis, militants, or terrorists. The fact remains that any tunneling done to end in an Israeli neighborhood or beneath a school, for instance, is done for the cruelest of reasons. These Arabs just can’t get it through their minds that terrorism only gives Israelis more reasons to respond, and to prevent, if possible, those measures taken by Palestinians to keep their hate alive.
They should never question why the Israelis need to respond, they tried a softer approach long ago, and that was interpreted by Arabs as weakness, which means the Palestinian state of mind remains beyond logic.
Linde Barrera says
To Stan Lee- Good one! And you are right. I hope the Israelis destroy more tunnels built by Islamist jihadis.

The UK government n the BBC had long been bought over by the Arabs.

Let’s hope the tunnel was collapsed during rush hour.

BBC “militants”, for you.
Brings to mind when Obama said Islamic State is neither Islamic nor a state.

The BBC is truly a reflection of today’s UK, and a good barometer of what views are acceptable to hold, so I guess in that respect they’re doing their job, or at least one part of it.
As for reporting and investigating news, they have fallen so far behind that I doubt they can ever recover the status they once had.
Jayell says
The BBC is truly a reflection of today’s UK ‘Establishment’ – that is, a few thousands or tens of thousands maybe who call themselves the ‘political elite’ or think that they are some other kind of ‘elite’ in UK society. but in fact represent only themselves; and their heads are so far up their own lumbar tuberosities that they are unaware of anything apart from their own over-inflated PC/leftie egos. The real people of the UK hardly relate to these impostors at all. The BBC is NOT ‘doing a good job’, wastes money by the bucketload, is basically an outdated irrelevant dinosaur that has grown far too big for its boots and outlived its usefulness, lives in its own tax-funded bubble, thinks that it is untouchable and can do as it pleases, has in fact strayed way off its original message and is generally despised, distrusted and disliked in varying degrees by a significant proportion of the UK population. A lot of people don’t even listen to or watch its often-repeated or second-hand and often second-rate programmes and object to paying the obnoxious licence fee (which the Government has been hinting at abolishing). Frankly, if the BBC was closed down tomorrow, not many people would give a damn and a lot of people would feel a bit better-off.
So, WorkingClassPost, sorry, but you’re not quite right.

No, it isn’t a few thousand, belonging to “elite”. 35% of the british public holds anti-semitic views. Moslems and the “elite” together are not 35% of population. The rest are simple brits, who hate the jews, with zoological envy at the base of that hate. Britain is turning moslem, but in their eyes it is better, then to have a small jewish population, which is more successful, then an average brit.
It is easy to blame the “elite”, but how many brits defend jewish minority? They deserve their BBC and their moslems. Sharia will be the right reward for the brits.

NPR and the BBC or the Beep as NPR affectionately calls it are birds of a feather.
CAIR once had on its web site a pic of its members visiting an NPR studio. The BBC has supplied Al Jazeera with a lot of its core staff.

I once was silly enough to have half a dozen Pakistani Muslim friends. One stated to me that “France deserved everything they got for shunning Islam”. I unleashed verbally and in a grand manner, as it was shortly after the Bataclan attacks. Not long afterwards, another Pakistani Muslim friend said “Israel are killing hundreds of thousands of innocent Palestinians every single day.”. In frustration, I said if that were true, after a few weeks the world’s problems would be over.
I am happy to say that I am half a dozen Pakistani friends less, but better for it. You can’t change the minds of these people because the standard response is “It is Allah’s will.”.
Israel contained the jihadist problem for many years and in effect protected the world. We have a lot to thank them for.

Your account does not surprise me. So glad you realized these Muslims were *not* your friends.

I suspect that there are many more tunnels and they are being monitored. Hopefully, the IDF has already mined some and has some surprises ready to go when the tunnels are put into use. There was probably something about this one that required immediate action. Either the target of the tunnel or someone in the tunnel required action, despite the possibility of tipping off the terrorists that the IDF know what was going on.

It’s true the BBC is biased, but in this case the issue may be pure laziness. They just chose to copy and paste in their boilerplate BS, rather than do original research to provide context.

There is no excuse–especially with a story like this. This is not like being lazy and cutting and pasting with something like a story about a shop opening.

BBC mourns as Israel destroys tunnel from Gaza used by “Palestinian” jihad terrorists
…………………..
This is disgusting, even by the low standards of the BBC.
Lydia says
Alas! We have two cases here:
Since they deny the existence of Palestinian terrorists, then according to them the tunnel would not have been used, right? So it would not be needed.
If they would be up to any mischief, then it is even better that the tunnel is destroyed.
So the problem is???
Unless of course they would be mourning over the fact that the Israeli’s could not use the tunnel in the other direction? Hmmm.
Benedict says
The BBC is a left leaning, Muslim pleasing station from way back. So this is not new from their end. Israel will find new ways to defeating these Muslim terrorists. Israel is more intelligent and very alert, to the antics of these Muslims. The Arab Muslims on the other hand, are driven by hatred that clouds their judgement thinking that the one called Allah will lead them on to victory, As history has shown in the wars fought with Israel how they have fared. The Arabs will turn on their own kind to suit their own needs.
Destroy the tunnels, wait for the rescue to commence and then attack again, for maximum effect.
