The superlatively brilliant David Wood takes apart the jaw-droppingly dishonest article by Islamic apologist Qasim Rashid, ““How the teachings of Islam could help us prevent more sexual abuse scandals.”
Wood says: “You have to hand it to Qasim. Whatever he lacks in honesty and integrity, he more than makes up for in arrogance and stupidity.”
I can’t stop laughing.
You can find my response to Qasim Rashid’s appalling article here.
mortimer says
How does imitating Mohammed the PROFESSIONAL SEX ADDICT help to REDUCE sex addiction?
Answer: It doesn’t.
Mohammed permitted himself to have sex with all women…
According to Ibn Sa’ad, “The prophet did not die till all women were permitted him” (see Kitab Al Tabaqat Al Kubra, v.8, 194).
mortimer says
Wife-beating and honor-killing are the most popular ways Muslims use to avert scandals.
Sadomasochism is the emotional subtext of Islam.
Scandals averted!
blitz2b says
Absolutely correct, we never hear of scandals in the Islamic works because they have an air tight system to silence the women in Islam…. No leaks no scandals.
Though, oft I have wondered, why then do we still have musalmahas in Islam, here in the west? Sure I can understand in Islamic countries women are “property” rather than individuals with a mind, but who or what is restraining the weaker sex of Islam from leaving this masochistic ideology here in the civilized ? Why aren’t we seeing Musalmahas leaving in droves once they arrive on the shores of the free west?
In fact why are western women being drawn into this ideological web of deceit when the cultural and religious upbringing in the west continuously strives towards eradicating distinctions between sexes, while Islam promotes strongly the allah-given rights of the righteous Muslim male over Musalmahs their property?
Even well educated professional Muslim women in the west will conjour up lame excuses to defend this horrific nefarious cult, like the “choice” of wearing the garb of oppression, the hi jab, etc…
Was Mohammed correct in stating that (believing) women are truly deficient in intelligence?
Go figure!
Kris T says
Agreed that Islam teaches hatred of women.
Which verse in the Qur’an does THIS incredibly hateful verse towards women come from? “As in all the churches of the saints, the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but as hould be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.”

Kris T says “….Which verse in the Qur’an does THIS incredibly hateful verse towards women come from?…”
Oh wow thanks Kris for enlightening us about the “evils” of Christianity. Thanks for trying to equate a redundant cultural norms of Paul’s day with Allah’s all time command to beat disobedient women and their worth being like” tilth”, and half that of males until eternity…. There’s so much similarity in these two doctrines, it’s overwhelming.
How about mentioning the importance that Christ gives to women when in a time when the witness of women were not considered reliable, the first century women were the first to witness the most pivotal event in Christian history… The resurrection. Or that the church of Christ is equated to being the bride of Christ, and that is the formula men should use to love their wives, or in Genesis where the emphasis of male and female equality is unprecedented.
For heavens sake stop being a stooge for Islam with your watered down poorly investigated equations of both religions, which gives justification to Muslims that Islam may be divine just because all other religions preach the similar unfavourable doctrines.

·women [or wives] should keep quiet in the ·church meetings [churches; assemblies; C the context here may be the evaluation of prophecy (v. 29), rather than general worship (where women presumably could speak; see 11:2–16)]. [L For] They are not allowed to speak, but they must ·yield to this rule [or be in submission; or keep their ordered place] as the law says [C perhaps Gen. 3:16, or a nonbiblical Jewish tradition].
MSG
Wives must not disrupt worship, talking when they should be listening, asking questions that could more appropriately be asked of their husbands at home. God’s Book of the law guides our manners and customs here. Wives have no license to use the time of worship for unwarranted speaking. Do you—both women and men—imagine that you’re a sacred oracle determining what’s right and wrong? Do you think everything revolves around you?

Someone else trying to pretend that Christianity is the same as Islam.
Where does Christianity condone wife beating? Was Jesus a wifebeater, as Muhammed was? Did he preach wife beating, as Muhammed did?
What vicious claptrap.

What a lot of crock Kris T? I have seen lesser BS in a cattle shed.
Pauls admonition to women was for that time and place. Specially to the people of Corinth.
The Church has moved on since then WHILE ISLAM HAS REMAINED WHERE IT IS with retrograde ideas from a retrograde self proclaimed “prophet”.
amalteser says
If people took the time to read the biblical texts, they would see the context of this particular issue.
Which is to do with “Good order in worship.” Therefore, it is specific to a certain issue within the newly established church in Corinth.
Good order in worship
26 What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up. 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two – or at the most three – should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and to God.
29 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. 30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. 31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 32 The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. 33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace – as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.
34 Women[f] should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 35 If they want to enquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.[g]
36 Or did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks they are a prophet or otherwise gifted by the Spirit, let them acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord’s command. 38 But if anyone ignores this, they will themselves be ignored.[h]
39 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.
There are plenty of other texts, about husbands loving their wives as themselves etc!
Not forgetting 1 Cor. 13 which shows what real LOVE is!!!

Kris,
One need not be religious at all to see that Islam leads to a very different social outcome than the other major religions lead to.
Also, in comparing Islam and Christianity on women, what matters is what Jesus taught and what Muhammad taught about women, much less important is what Paul, whom you quote, says.
Further, the overall trend of a teaching, not one particular sentence, such as the one you quote, is what one should pay attention to.
The trend of the core Islamic texts is social authoritarianism, in part because Muhammad made no distinction between religion and state and became the ruler of a warlike, expansionist, theocratic state. JC, by contrast, is reputed to have said, “my kingdom is not of this world,” and “Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, to God’s the things that are God’s.” Thus from the very beginning of Christianity, the existence of two distinct realms — the temporal and the religious — was recognized, though it took many centuries before confusion about the two realms was clarified. At times the Church almost took over the State, and vice versa. Yet the two realms paradigm always remained at least latently present, and always resurfaced in fact. This two realms principle led after many centuries to the First Amendment’s separation of religion and state. For such reasons and others, Christianity, even if one supposes it a pure tissue of fantasy, can be recognized as a religion that tends toward open societies. Islam by contrast leads to authoritarianism and the oppression of women and non-Muslims.
If one insists on a single quote, I’d say the following is far more representative of JC’s teachings than is the quote you cite:
Galatians 3:28: There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

True. Raping little boys is widely tolerated in Islam, as well.

Notice that at the very end of Wood’s video, we see an image of the Financial Times website, which shows this headline:
“Saudi investor takes a key stake in the Independent.
The Independent is the news organization that published Qasim Raschid’s lying article.
Has not Saudi Arabia done more than enough to deserve destruction? But they continue to push disinformation to hide and and advance their goal of raping and subjugating non-Muslim women, our mothers, daughters, friends? How about sanctions on Saudi Arabia as tight as those on North Korea? We don’t need their f’ing oil anymore!

I meant to put a close quote to indicate the end of the headline:

David Wood *is brilliant*.
I pointed out yesterday myself on the initial covering of this story that Islam does not prevent sexual abuse–it just prevents it from being a scandal:
This is only true if you don’t consider rape and the keeping of sex slaves to be “sexual abuse”.
Or perhaps what he means is that this is not a scandal in Islam. Certainly, the media would not be critical of this in a Muslim society.

David is always brilliant and entertaining in his analysis and criticism of the fantasy world of Islam and does a good job there.
However the Bible is not exactly politically correct in its treatment of women and there are many examples of women being referred in degrading terms,As David claims to be a Christian I don’t suppose he will turn his wit and intelligence to the fertile ground there.
Richard Dawkins in his book the God Delusion shows clearly that all of the “religions of the Book” are guilty of this and to be more up to date Hollywood film producers have been at it for at least 100 years.
Both men and women need to rise above their animal nature and behave responsibly and respectfully and we don’t need evil old books to tell us that !!!

The idea that Judaism and Christianity are the same as Islam in just not borne out, either by the original texts, or by the actions of Jews and Christians.
