Most people believe the Islamic State is lying in claiming any connection to this, and that Paddock was not a convert to Islam. But ISIS continues to claim the attack anyway, and does not have a history of claiming credit for attacks for which they were not responsible. Maybe they’ve started doing so now. Maybe not. They don’t seem to be afraid that Stephen Paddock will turn out to be a white supremacist neo-Nazi or some such. They don’t seem to be worried about being definitively exposed as grandiose liars.
“New ISIS Infographic on Vegas Shooting Claims Paddock Converted Six Months Ago,” by Bridget Johnson, PJ Media, October 5, 2017:
The Islamic State continued insisting that they have a connection to Sunday night’s massacre in Las Vegas with the publication of an infographic about the crime filling the second page of their 16-page weekly newsletter.
Today’s release marks the 100th issue of al-Naba, which is distributed in ISIS territories and online via mediums such as Telegram and social media as a PDF.
ISIS claimed through their Amaq news agency Monday morning that the “Las Vegas attacker is a soldier of the Islamic State who carried out the attack in response to calls for targeting coalition countries.” They claimed he had converted to Islam recently.
In the new al-Naba issue, the terror group claims Stephen Paddock converted to Islam six months ago.
ISIS persisted in its full-court press effort to claim responsibility for the attack after the Amaq news agency claim with their official Nashir channel and affiliated al-Batar Media Foundation all insisting Paddock acted on behalf of the terror group.
The newsletter used the nom de guerre that ISIS bestowed up Paddock earlier in the week: “Abu Abdul Barr al-Amriki” — the American.
“The brother Abu Abdul Barr stationed himself for the invasion on the 32nd floor of a hotel overlooking a concert, and opened fire continuously on the crowds using 23 guns and more than 2,000 rounds, and died, may Allah accept him, after exhausting his ammunition,” al-Naba states.
Leaked crime scene photos and officials have indicated there was much more ammo in the room. Paddock was interrupted by a security guard, shot more than 200 rounds through the hotel room door, and then killed himself as police attempted to enter the suite.
The infographic states as “results of the operation” 59 killed — a number that was reduced to 58 by Las Vegas authorities, not counting Paddock — and 527 wounded, a number also reduced Wednesday as officials got a more accurate count from local hospitals, along with “panic and confusion of security in America and a number of European countries.”…

If he converted, WHERE is that imam who must witness his conversion? Without presence of an imam that whole claim is just bogus.
Jack Diamond says
It is false that one needs an imam to witness his conversion. He just needs to recite the shahada (“with a believing heart”). Nor does he even require a Muslim witness. There are examples in the Qur’an and hadith of people converting and keeping their faith secret (“if one fears harm”).
From IslamQ&A “In order for a person to become Muslim, it is not essential for him to declare his Islam before anyone. Islam is a matter that is between a person and his Lord, may He be blessed and exalted. If he asks people to bear witness to his Islam so that it may be documented among his personal documents, there is nothing wrong with that, but it should be done without making that a condition of his Islam being valid.”

Conversion to Islam is very different from converting to Christianity, Buddhism, even Judaism.
And now that we know all that is required to convert to Islam (which really is not much), is it any wonder Islam appeals to the lowest common denominator in society.
Jayell says
In that case Islam is indeed a very cheap religion, if we are going to call it a religion. And that might explain why so many of its followers are apparently so ignorant about it and seem to feel justified in spouting a load of unsubstantiated high-minded or just plain idiotic drivel in defence of it. They are indeed Islam’s ‘useful idiots’, clueless sheeple with bigotted delusions of superority way above their pathetic station. If the connection between Paddock and Islam is proved, it will explain the apparent mystery as to why he unexpectedly went off on such a grossly psychopathic tangent and it will also demonstrate the appalling ‘rotten apple effect’ of Islam when it starts infecting and corrupting the local population. If the connection is not proved, it yet again confirms the insanemy hideous criminal barbarity of ISIS in so gleefully wanting to be seen to claim responsibility for such an unhinged murderous outrage.

I’ve always marveled at how informal Islam can be. It’s easy to get married with a quick chant to spend a hot weekend with a white slave at a luxury condo in Abu Dhabi and then with another chant divorce her. One can even do a chant to answer the call to Islam and join right up. Trouble there is that you can’t chant yourself back out of Islam. There’s a death sentence for that.

Yes, conversion to Islam is like falling into a very deep pit. Quick and easy to fall in – yet very difficult to escape from. Or perhaps Hotel California – from which escape is impossible.

Doesn’t have to be an imam.
Can be *any* mohammedan. Is one or two needed?
Not sure whether it can be ‘witnessed’ over the phone or online rather than in person.
I hope that the investigators are at least trying to find out whether he *could* have secretly converted to the Religion of Blood and War. Whether he *could* have had, say, personal face-to-face contact with at least one or more Muslims, *somewhere* in the course of the past ten years and more.
Closet conversions to Islam *can* happen. And it is possible for a person to join the Allah Gang but be *asked* – by the Gang – to *conceal* their conversion and become, in effect, a secret agent of Islam, flying under the radar. *The* template is the example of one Nuaym Bin Mas’ud.
Donald R Laster Jr says
All one would have to do is to swear allegiance to the government of Islam and its god Hubal (allah means “the god”). Considering the amount of weapons he had he would have appeared to need help. And all one would have to do is to look at the nearest Mosque. A Mosque is invasion facility for Islam. Look at how Mosques are used to aid the invasion of Islam into non-Islamic countries.
And as pointed out by dumbledoresarmy one does not always advertise one is a foreign agent. Many Islamics pretend to be peaceful – i.e. sleeper cells – waiting to be activated.
BC says
Well we cannot expect any Imam to own up to the conversion as he would then be complicit. It would be impossible to deny that a recent convert was lead to murder by Islamic teaching, would it?

I’m inclined to believe them. Who was the bomb maker he was going to meet with all that bomb material in the car? Was he staking out those other venues for himself or other shooters? He visited Egypt and the middle east. He didn’t show any of the usual warnings of some nut wanting revenge. Islamic terrorists don’t give warnings before they attack. We always find out after. I wonder how many more Manchurian candidates we have out there? I hope I’m wrong but nothing else comes to mind.
Donald R Laster Jr says
Foreign agents are careful to conceal themselves. And Islamics, who are citizens of a hostile foreign State, preparing to engage in jihad using violence are going to be careful.
Paul N Silas says
Even if Paddock had not converted, just the fact that Islam wants to claim this evil man and his evil deeds says a whole bunch about the “Religion of Pieces”.

Seconded. Yes indeed, such a claim by ISIS, led by a man with a PhD in Islamic Studies, speaks volumes about this wretched excuse of a religion, a religion which is clearly a mortal enemy of freedom. All those averring otherwise only demonstrate one of two negatives: 1) ignorance; or 2) mendacity.

What *absolute claptrap*. Jihad existed for over a thousand years before the Wahabbis ever came along. Would Chand have us believe that all the conquest and murder that preceded this had nothing to do with Islam–including the savagery of the “Prophet” himself?
It appears so. Note his use of “Takfiri”–pretending that Jihad has nothing to do with Islam, and that Jihadists are not real Muslims.
Another point of dishonesty–that all Jihadists are a subset of Sunni Wahabbis. What rot. The Shia are also as intent on imposing brutal Shari’ah law. Iran hangs gay people, stones women to death, and has vowed to “wipe Israel off the map”.
The fact is that Jihad is the basis of Islam, and is preached in the Qur’an, the Hadith, and in the model of the “Prophet” himself. Chand is pretending that we don’t know this.
Chand says
gravenimage says: “Would Chand have us believe that all the conquest and murder that preceded this had nothing to do with Islam…..”
But Islam also teaches basic morality, the taking care of elders and parents, protection of the poor, humility, etc.
Conquest and murder is just…………conquest and murder, as political tools that have been used by conquerors and murderers of all religions over ages everywhere.
The Koran was written during the time of war when Muhammad and his followers were fighting others for power. I’m an atheist and I don’t believe that he did it for God/Allah. He did it for power. Neither Allah nor Satan guided him or anything. Human hunger for power did. He wasn’t unique in this. He just invoked God for his actions and used the deep rooted human predisposition for religion for his ends. He isn’t unique in this either. Or he had some brain pathology that made him excessively violent. Not unique in this either.
But that was 1400 years ago in Arabia.
By Jihad Muhammad meant war against his enemies. That’s all. Nothing to do with anything now.
Christians have taken over half the globe, conquered three other continents and had colonized most of the world after Europe through conquest and a whole lot of murder too. Is it Jesus Christ’s fault? Of course the New Testament preaches non-violence, forgiveness and love but who was listening? Who cares what is written in the Holy Books when the goal is power and conquest? The holy books will only be used as further, useful tools to further the goals of conquest and power and Christian priests blessed the blessed soldiers going out to conquer, kill, pillage and colonize.
The Bible can be abused just as quickly to conquer and colonize as the Koran is used.
But is Christianity, Jesus, the Bible or all Christians alive today being blamed for the wrong actions of their ancestors?
The Bible too teaches morality and right conduct.
So why are all Muslims and all of Islam (and there are many kinds of Islam) being blamed when some commit evil acts?
And I was commenting specifically on this Las Vegas massacre by Mr. Paddock. He was no Muslim, no Muslim convert or someone committed to global jihad who wanted the black flag of ‘LA ILLAHAH ILLAH MUHAMMAD RASUL ALLAH’ to flutter over the White House. He was just an idle, rich, bored man whose mind was taken over by some other force for his Workshop.
No group but ISIS claimed responsibility and so I wrote that.
ISIS is a
Sunni (as distinguished from Shia, Druze, Ahamddiya, etc),
Salafi (Muslim Sunni believers of holy violence and war, i.e. Jihad),
Takfiri (Muslim Sunni believers who do not hesitate to kill fellow Muslims, denouncing them as corrupted……..Jahilliya or apostates),
Wahabbi (Sunni Muslim believers who have a literal, fundamentalist reading of the Koran with the utopian idea of ‘going back’ to the ‘pure times’ of their prophet) organization.
What did I say wrong? Hezbollah or Hamas didn’t claim responsibility. Only ISIS did.
Also: “The fact is that Jihad is the basis of Islam………………..”
I believe all humans have a moral sense, in spite of the religion they are born in. So Jihad maybe the basis of Islam but Jihad is not the basis of the lives of ALL Muslims. Most Muslims do not want Jihad. They do not want mayhem, war, murder, maimed limbs, blood on the streets, the cries and screams of horrified humans, children becoming orphans, devastated families, ruined futures………….
Most Muslims want a decent education (preferably Western) for their children and grandchildren that might secure them a better future, peace, happiness, the absence of war, crimes, poverty, insecurity, like the most of us.
The religious (non jihadi) ones hope to secure that the best way they know………..by appealing to the Higher Power, which, for them is Allah of the Prophet and the Holy Book.
Most of them haven’t even read the Koran or read it in parts. They find it difficult, daunting, tedious, too serious and basically a bad read.
I personally believe that the Koran shouldn’t be taught to children as it might seed their brains with the ‘kill kaffir’ idea which has been exploited by Jihadis. And it is a waste of time. Many Muslims too think that too.
I once asked an elderly Muslim man, the dad of a Muslim friend, if he had read the Koran. He replied succinctly, in a matter-of-fact way, in two words: “Disgusting. Unreadable”.
I personally consider the Buddhist religion to be the most reasonable and ‘scientific’ one as it leaves room for atheism in it. I, like most of humanity of course, consider Jesus to be a great guide and light.
Adam Dalgliesh says
While it is true that religious leaders of all faiths, even including Buddhism, have tended to give their blessing to aggressive wars that the governments of their countries have waged (for example, the massive killing of Hindus in Ceylon by the government there when it defeated the “Tamil Tigers”was blessed by the Ceylonese Buddhist priests). the Koran is nevertheless the most belligerent and hostile in tone of all of the holy scriptures. Not only does it advocate holy war, but almost every chapter warns “unbelievers” that they will suffer hellfire in the next world. This extreme intolerance and belligerence probably does explain why terrorism is most common among Muslims (although not of course limited to them) in the contemporary world. Words and ideas do influence people.
Donald R Laster Jr says
What you are pointing out is why people need to understand that Islam is a theocracy not a religion. Islam has a religious component involving the worship of Hubal but it is a government that instructs its citizens to wage war against all who will not submit to its rule. Buddhism, Hindi, Christianity, Shinto, Judaism, and other religions, can all co-exist by finding common ground regardless of the government in control of the country they are located. Islam has not such thing due to what it actually is – a government at war with all those not under its control. And this war is over 1400 years old.
Sons of Liberty says
There is NO PEACEFUL ISLAM . The Shia are just as violent as the Sunni and they both spread lies by taqiyya.

So far the theory that best matches the evidence, or lack of it, is that Paddock was a FBI agent involved in some kind of “fast and furious” operation trying to infiltrate some jihadist cell, but something went wrong. That theory explains many things: the level of sophistication in planning, the amount of weapons, the mystery surrounding Paddock, authorities not detecting anything irregular, ISIS believing Paddock was one of his jihadists, so few information disclosed so far, no manifest from Paddock.

Ciudadano: It’s an exceedingly foolish theory and one should not put forth a theory with virtually no evidence. The FBI has a history of working with ISIS in the USA. Take the first attack by ISIS on USA soil in Garland, TX, as an example. The FBI agent was cheering on the ISIS terrorists with “Go tear up Texas!”, as an example. The FBI agent knew the attack was coming and did nothing to warn or protect Garland. He fled when the first shots were fired, and AFAIK he was not disciplined. When did the FBI quit supporting ISIS? Does anyone have any evidence that they did?

Just “Vegas is a great place keep on coming”.
There is 5 day old fish in my compost that smells good compared to this.
Jack Diamond says
They aren’t telling us or showing us. Someone did leak the “2 Guests” receipt. So, we know there was a $26 burger and, what was it?, $10 bagel. Does that suggest he had a female guest? Or did the order taker just assume there were 2 guests?
Nothing is getting answered. The Sheriff all but says he had accomplices. Ok. He says he had “a secret life”. Whatever he’s hinting at, it’s a secret. Asked about the note on display in the dead shooter’s room, a note nobody could miss, he first suggests he hardly noticed it, then just remarks, it was NOT a suicide note. So what was it? If it was blank or innocuous, why not tell us? Or did it pertain to his purpose without being technically a “suicide note” therefore we don’t get to know?
I’ve heard on television that the story of the woman telling concert goers they are all going to die, prior to the shooting, has been discounted as without merit. A fake story. Really? Did I miss something?
It’s a good thing the Islamic State is here to explain all this…
Sons of Liberty says
Without merit ? If you watch the girl in that video she is upset almost to the point of crying ! Also, she took the warning seriously because they ALL LEFT , IMMEDIATELY ! Why would someone leave a concert when the main act is about to come on STAGE ! The girl was very upset and who ever said it was without merit didn’t see the video. She was definitely shook up .
Joe says
And she was smart enough to heed the warning.
Joe says
Yeah, you’re still missing a lot. For example, the windows in the Mandalay Bay were broken out hours before the concert. People heard them being broken and they were reported. People took picture of them broken when the day was still light. Why wouldn’t the hotel inquire?
I’m not saying anything one way or the other, but here is a list of curious evidence that indicates it was not a “lone wolf” attack.
1. ISIS claimed it.
2. The shooting was captured on video. I now hear that it was streamed “offshore” which is an ISIS kind of thing.
3. The woman who warned people they were going to die. ISIS does that as well.
4. The array of weapons. Some of those are very hard to get. ISIS gets them from the US government which was probably a big part of Benghazi.
5. The tactical planning was military grade. ISIS would think like that, but
not a real estate developer.
6. The word, “radicalized” means that the police are starting to head in the direction of jihad. Cops don’t use that word in any other setting. By now the cops are going to be on to his communications. I suppose that all Telegrams (a secure messaging app that ISIS uses) lead back to ISIS.
7. The people at the venue reported another shooter in the crowd. People
heard the 2nd shooter. And people were shot at angles that were
impossible from Mandalay Bay.
8. Why were the people directed to the airport runways that were next to the gas tanks that were supposed to be blown up? They would have been much safer if they weren’t in the line of fire.
9. If ISIS is involved in America, we would expect the FBI to be involved. They have a history of working together. For example, the first ISIS attack on American soil was Garland, TX. The FBI agent was on the scene and rooting for ISIS, “Go tear up Texas”. When the first shots were fired, he did nothing to protect the people of Garlard. He fled, but was stopped by local police. They let him go since he was an FBI agent.
Call me names if you will, but the sheriff seems to think something is up as well.

The only statement he made that was Tin foil was the last one about the FBI being in on it . No proof of that at all.

I also read the agency of the US government Financial Crimes Enforcement Network ( FinCEN) had flagged 200+ of his large financial transactions, many going out of the country, for ongoing investigation in an article on ABC. Seems, gravenimage, that great crimes and tragedies invariably bring out the nut jobs with conspiracy theories that are rooted in non-fact, paranoia, and just plain foolishness.
Bad enough the world has really malevolent actors on the world stage, but it is all made even worse by the fact that on said stage we also have people, more or less innocuous in and of themselves, who think they can “contribute” but who only make more mischief which serves no good purpose.

Sons of Liberty says
Absolutely Wellington ! The conspiracy angle of our government using this to abolish the 2nd Amendment is lacking any sort of credible evidence . First of all the 2nd Amendment won’t be repealed unless our Republic is overthrown. However , this monster Paddock had a reason for what he did and we don’t know enough now to say he was a deranged old man who decided to go out as the biggest mass murder criminal in history. Will we really get the truth from the FBI , or local law enforcement investigators ? I doubt we will,…. that I know for SURE.
Ed Lee says
Doesn’t anybody remember Dianne Feinstein saying, “If I could, I would say to ‘Mr. and Mrs. America’, turn them all in”? Look at all the borderline insane people who have committed mass shootings starting with Patrick Purdy in 1989. You don’t think the tyrants who run our government are capable of this kind of thing? The same people who are now trying to destroy the First Amendment, as documented here on JW, have been trying to destroy the Second Amendment for decades.

Wellington, do you remember during the debate of the 1994 Clinton gun ban legislation she (Feinstein)clearly proclaimed that if it were in her power she would take all firearms that were not in the hands of police and military? I do. I saw the tape on television in her own face and with her own voice. She has no regard for the Second Amendment, nor the reasons it was included in the Bill of Rights, To her and other “liberals” the only rights we have are those they want to “give” us.
gravenimage says
Frank, this does not mean that she is involved with ISIS or in plotting mass murder of civilians.
Frank Anderson says
GI, as usual you are correct. But that does not stop her lifelong use of any and every excuse to attack Constitutional rights when the opportunity is presented. While she walks around with armed guards she wants the rest of us to be helpless targets.
gravenimage says
Frank, I have no doubt she is using this attack as an excuse to push for more gun control. You are quite correct in that.
Frank Anderson says
GI, please tolerate my going out in “left field”, hopefully just a little, by passing along some excerpts concerning “aiding and abetting” and “conspiracy”.
In order to be convicted of aiding and abetting, a defendant must associate himself with the venture, participate in it as something he wishes to bring about, and seek by this action to make it successful United States v. Gary Greenough, 609 F.Supp 1090, 1094 (S.D.Ala.1985, quoting United States v. Carter, 721 F.2d 1514, 1533 (11th Cir. 1984).
. . . [W]here a defendant has conspired in a scheme to defraud others, a jury could find that he expected and encouraged the individual communications which constituted the substantive offenses, and would make the defendant an aider and abettor under the substantive counts United States v. Gary Greenough, 609 F.Supp 1090, 1095.
It is well established that
[t]]he elements of a conspiracy . . . are: (1) an agreement between two or more persons, (2) an unlawful purpose, and (3) an overt act committed by one of the conspirators in furtherance of the conspiracy . . . . The existence of the conspiracy can be proved by inference evidence . . . . Direct evidence of an agreement to join a criminal conspiracy is rare, so a defendant’s assent can be inferred from acts furthering the conspiracy’s purpose. The government is not required to prove that each alleged conspirator knew all the details of the conspiracy; it is enough to establish that a defendant knew the essentials of the conspiracy . . . that the defendant intended to join or associate himself with the objective of the conspiracy . . . even if he did not join it until after its inception, and even if he played only a minor role in the total scheme United States v. Gary Greenough, 609 F.Supp 1090, 1093-1094 (S.D. Ala. 1985).
.
The legal point I would like to make is that a person can adopt and join a conspiracy at any time. It is not necessary that a person knows or agrees with all details, only that a person wishes to accomplish the same, or even similar goals as the other members of the conspiracy. I have my opinion as to how this could apply to our conversation. It is based on research and litigation that started in the 1980’s. Others can quite easily see a different view. But I have never lost a case in court on this issue.

Bravo , Frank Anderson ! The Founding Fathers put the ” RIGHT to keep and bear arms by the people ” in the CONSTITUTION ….NOT just for a militia , or hunting …but to make sure that the people had the means to protect against a TYRANICAL GOVERNMENT ! That is what upsets the Marxists, the Democrats, the Antifa people so much …we have the right TO FIGHT BACK against TYRANTS. I think it was Jefferson who said ,..” that the TREE OF LIBERTY must be watered with the blood of PATRIOTS …and TYRANTS.

Apart from the two receipts they found, there is apparently, some travel records of numerous flights to the middle-east. And why was his girlfriend married to two men and also why’d she have two social security numbers?
On top of this there are military experts talking about multiple shooters.
lt’s possible it’s alslam-antifa joint project, l suppose.

It is truly interesting how ISIS is really insisting that SP was one of theirs. NO other group is claiming this either, which has happened in the past (some insignificant or instantly made up group). If he really pledged himself to Allah and ISIS on line, they should be willing and able to show us the e-mails, tweets, videos, something.
Also missing is some comment about the weapons used. Can anyone out there with really good weapons and ammo training really enlighten us regarding the carnage caused by a 5.56/.223? Others have pointed out that for the number of rounds supposedly spent, he had a very high hit and fatal count. How far away was he from the victims? If it was 300-400 yards, isn’t that a bit far, even including that he was shooting downhill with that round? Vegas can be very windy, especially in the evening and near the airport. What were the wind conditions like?
And then there is the amount of crap he got into that room. I have gone plinking with friends out in the stix. Hauling a bunch of firearms and ammo and getting things set up is real work unless you are in good shape. He was not.
This thing stinks bad. I agree that there is always a degree of denial. This much carnage, who could do that? Why? Just the same, this makes no sense, and does not fit any recognized patterns.
eduardo odraude says
Two points that might have some validity.
1) Since he was firing rifles he had made automatic into a dense crowd, perhaps it is not surprising at all that he hit hundreds of people.
2) If there is more to this story than is being made public, one reason may be that authorities are even now watching a suspect or pursuing a suspect and don’t want to telegraph that that is happening or how it is happening, lest making such information public helps the suspect/s get away, or causes them to “go silent” and stop communicating with others involved.
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
A bump stock does not make a rifle automatic. If a weapon is not made to the take the heat generated it will fail very quickly.

“there were definitely at least two shooters.”
I’ve thought about this and it is not entirely out of the question. First of all, there are two broken window and they are not close together. Secondly, most of the timelines put the breach of the hotel door at about 70 minutes. This is more than enough time for one of the shooters to shoot Paddock and get away.
Jack Diamond says
2) I hope they have suspects or know more than they are letting on. Because I’m getting a bad feeling that a week from now we will know no more than we know now.
Unless ISIS produces some evidence, or a wild card appears, the verdict will be:
just a psychopath. A monster whom we can never really understand, but nothing more.

That is exactly what I fear Jack . This guy didn’t look like the guy in Aurora or in Tucson . You look at those guys and you know you’re dealing with a deranged person. I was in Arizona when the nut job fired on Rep. Gabby Giffords . People WERE AFRAID OF THE GUY , at school , he went to Pima Community College . His OWN parents were afraid of him. The Aurora nut job , his own psychiatrist knew he was dangerous . Look at pictures of both of them and you will see that these are guys who have some serious screws loose. Paddock doesn’t look like a nut job in pictures , obviously he was , but who or what turned him . I’ve always said that Islam fits right into AN ANGRY or VENGEFUL PERSON’S THINKING !

I expect they must be looking into his medical records. I wonder if he may have received a recent diagnosis of some terminal illness such as cancer, which triggered a deranged response (quite possible, given that his father was a psychopath and a career criminal) leading to the desire to gain “fame” before dying in some sort of blaze of glory.

Apparently, in vegas the management will sneak into your room when your not there and search your room. So how paddock hid all those guns and ammo is a mystery. Only explanation would be that he had help on the inside [mandalay staff] – probably security staff.

Inside help. Yes. Remember the woman who said a Hispanic woman warned people an attack was going to happen. Several people had to be in the know.

If he was inspired by Islam, wouldn’t it defeat the purpose to cover that up, and not broadcast it far and wide? One of the purposes of terror is to get credit for it. Otherwise, it’s just a pointless, amorphous crime.
St. Croix says
If the jihadi truly believes his creed, he believes the reward awaits on the “other side” –which is far more important than getting cred in the earthly plane. That said, they usually like to make a proclamation of some kind as they go out… But in this case where would be the chance to shout “Allahu Akhbar” and have anyone hear it? Maybe he did have a plan to escape the hotel room and blow himself up afterwards, and was going to say something then…he did have a car with all kinds of junk in it, and some investigators believe he was planning to escape in the aftermath. I can’t see him being delusional enough to think he could escape and live, but he might have had a plan to escape and die…in a more revealing way than it turned out.
peter says
Eveyn if he did not covert to Islam that would be the ideal religion for him.
Keys says
Right, and by now he has probably met Islam’s spiritual leader.
St. Croix says
If he had plans to make a big splash as a jihadi, he probably would be wise not to stir the pot too much beforehand…he could keep the conversion quiet and behave as he “normally” would…gambling and whatever else he did. But also then stockpiling weapons, checking out music venues with hotels adjacent –where he was overlooking the music festivals.
We do know that jihadis have gone into concerts and created mayhem and murder in several notable events.. There have also been foiled attacks at European music festivals, in Nuremberg, for one, just this summer. Islam is anti-music: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has publicly stated that music is ‘not compatible with the highest values of the sacred regime of the Islamic Republic’—just one example.
Take the taboo on music and add the desire to strike terror into the infidels and beat the West into submission by killing as many civilians as possible, and you come up with the perfect scenario: attack large groups of infidels enjoying music at concerts and festivals.
The very fact that Paddock scoped out several music festivals, and did go into murderous action on this one, is one argument in favour of ISIS possibly and plausibly being right in their claim. It’s a typical Islamic type of attack. True, it is not proof in and of itself. But it’s suggestive.
There are other hints as well. It may well be that there is a plan in action under the radar, even as we speak, and this is why certain facts are being withheld. In a war situation, for example, no one could expect every bit of info to be publicly shared. ISIS has declared war on the West. They do attack. Well, it’s not far-fetched to consider this is why we aren’t getting all the facts. There may well be wisdom in not spilling all the beans yet.
Only stupid people show all their cards at once…and we can well imagine that a professional gambler like Paddock would not be haphazard about the paper trail etc. I have a feeling he knew exactly what he was setting up. If he did convert to Islam, we may never find the “proof” in any tangible piece of evidence.
The news about the stockpile in his car and so on could also suggest he meant to escape the hotel room and go out in an even bigger blast. Thankfully, that didn’t materialise. But again it would be a final touch for the jihadi.
Sons of Liberty says
Excellent analysis St. Croix ! Yes , if he did communicate with ISIS , it might have been picked up by NSA , CIA or FBI counter – intelligence. It would have been someone face to face . There have been reports that the girl friend said he laid around moaning and groaning. Was he struggling with the thought of what he was about to do ,..or asked to do. He also FIRED ROUNDS into the Jet Fuel Tanks at McCarran International Airport . Now that sounds like a JIHADIST’S WET DREAM . The explosions and carnage ! This looks more and more like a planned major terrorist attack .

Sons of Liberty says
The picture I saw of him was a shot through the mouth indicative of a suicide . I also heard a woman saying she listened to the police scanner and they shot him but the picture I saw of Paddock was a mouth shot. He had a insulated glove on to hold the hot end of the weapon.

Imagine a religion that, whenever there is an atrocity of pure evil committed upon defenseless people, that religion proudly claims responsibility for the act.
Imagine that billions of followers of that religion accept such behavior and see nothing abnormal or strange about it, and even support it.
Imagine that non-believers of this religion come to its defense at every atrocity, and remind the world that the religion that claims responsibility for the most heinous acts of savagery in our age is a ‘peaceful religion’.
Imagine that this religion is unique among world religions in its embrace of mindless slaughter as a sacrament and political tool.
If such a religion did not exist, knowledgeable people would say you could not make this stuff up.

Let me make the point that this attack was intended to maximize the TERROR generated, not the number of casualties. Not using a silencer let’s the crowd know that they are under attack and thus create TERROR. He could have killed and maimed far more if undetected for longer. (Using a flash inhibitor would only allow him to maximize the time he could terrorize the crowd.) Using a bump stock reduces his accuracy (and thereby reduces the number of deaths and injuries) but gives the panic stricken crowd the impression that they are under fire from a high caliber automatic weapon.
Again, his intention was to TERRORIZE and that is why I say this was a Mohammadin attack. (Sahi al Bukari book 4; chapter 52; verse 220: “The Prophet of Allah said, ‘I have been made victorious thru terror.'”)
So this, and the fact that IS is not known to falsely claim attacks tells me that he will eventually be linked to IS. Whether or not we, the general public, are told … now that’s a different matter.
Donald R Laster Jr says
This is why people need to understand that Islam is a 1400 plus year old theocracy and learn what its citizens and followers are instructed to do to advance Islam’s occupation and control of the world.
One thing people need to understand is that the word “allah” is a contraction of two words “al” (the) and “ilah” (god) and means “the god”. The god Islamics worship as part of their theocracy is the the moon god Hubal. Hubal is also known as Baal historically as well. The other items people need to understand is that the Qu’ran is not in the order written, but longest to shortest. That which was written earlier, such as be friends to Jews and Christians, was superseded by instruction to kill and subjugate Jews and Christians. The Qu’ran is consistent when read based upon the order written.
Another interesting thing I read is that all copies of the Qu’ran date from the 1000 to 1100 time frame. Arabic of the 600 did not have vowel marks.
Sons of Liberty says
The doctrine of abrogation ! All the peaceful verses are now obsolete. Muhammad said , ” I have been made victorious ..through TERROR !

Yes to your question. I have two Qur’an. The ISBNs are 978-0-913321-01-0 and 978-0-9785528-8-6. The general information is below.
Holy Quran : With English Translation and Commentary by Maulana Muhammad Ali (1991, Hardcover, Revised, Reprint) Ali, Maulana Muhammad 978-0-913321-01-0 Ahmadiyya Anjuman Ishaat Islam Lahore, Incorporated – 1983 Hardcover – 1256 pages Religion & Spirituality : Bible & Other Sacred Texts : Quran Read: 0 Holy Quran : With English Translation and Commentary by Maulana Muhammad Ali (1991, Hardcover, Revised, Reprint)$nbsp;
A highly acclaimed work, first published in 1917, the first generally available English rendering by a Muslim. Revised by the translator & re-published in 1951. Contains the Arabic text & English translation in parallel columns, with explanatory notes underneath. The translation is idiomatic, yet more faithful to the Arabic original than other translations. Detailed notes discuss meanings of all important words, review previous explanations of various passages & reach an interpretation with scholarly integrity. All conclusions are based on sound principles & strong arguments. There are extensive references to standard authorities. A Simple Koran: Readable and Understandable (The Islamic Trilogy Series, Vol. 3) Islam, Center for the Study of Political 978-0-9785528-8-6 Center for the Study of Political Islam Publishing – 2006 Paperback – 408 pages Religion & Spirituality Read: 0 A Simple Koran: Readable and Understandable (The Islamic Trilogy Series, Vol. 3)$nbsp;
Book Description The standard Koran is arranged by length of chapter. The longest chapter is at the beginning and the shortest chapters are at the end. This makes it confusing and hard to understand. Now you can read and understand A SIMPLE KORAN. The words of the Koran are woven back into the historical life of Mohammed. In actual fact, the Koran did unfold over the course of Mohammed’s life. A SIMPLE KORAN recreates the historical order of the Koran of Mohammed’s day. The first chapters start with Mohammed’s first recitations and the last chapters are those he recited before he died. Mohammed’s life gives the Koran clarity and meaning. It becomes a powerful, epic story. Read A SIMPLE KORAN. It will change the way you see the world’s events.
Frank Anderson says
Donald, thank you. I will see if I can order at least one soon.
Donald R Laster Jr says
I chose the first one due its translation in 1907, being published in 1917, and why it was done. The second one was specifically chosen since it is in the order written.

The most common “guesses” for this atrocity:
* ISIS sanctioned/motivated attack
* “Fast and Furious” gone wrong (no less evidence for this then for ISIS; this helps explain 1 hour delayed “breach breach breach” and lack of FBI info to the public)
* Anti-conservative “Antifa” motivated attack
* Crazy guy suicide (I doubt this most of all)
* An accomplice/no accomplice
* Another shooter/no other shooter
gfmucci says
A combination of 1 and 2 is my best guess at the moment.
Saraich says
This is deja vu all over again, and I’m referring to Timothy McVeigh (sp?) and the Oklahoma bombing which may not be in view for those of you who were not old enough to pay attention to it when it happened. The Las Vegas Incident is from the same playbook and the jihadis do use old but successful plans, as I have no doubt Mr. Spencer knows better than I. There is also a very good investigative book written about it (just Google for it; I can’t remember everything, sorry; tag Murragh et al).
Note the similarities:
1) McVeigh had a companion (not boyfriend) who is still alive, I believe, but in jail and curiously silent all these years, who went to The Philippines on at least 2 occasions when Bin Laden himself was there along with Al Qaeda; the Phillippine gov is again having quite a difficult time with jihadis;
2) The two (McV and friend) possessed fertilizer for explosives, same stuff as Paddock had;
3) McVeigh was accused of being everything but a jihadi or Muslim convert in the days when that was rare and unknown, to the general public anyway;
4) Middle Easterners were observed in Oklahoma City in the days when that also was rare;
5) McVeigh never talked while Paddock assumedly committed suicide, so McV’s motives also were unclear. HOWEVER, McV never talked THAT WE KNOW OF because there was that little snafu of the FBI “misplacing” his files before his trial and execution, and conveniently finding them after, i.e. hiding evidence – or something;
6) McVeigh was tried and executed so fast – I think it was a first for the US – I almost missed the whole thing.
7) The jihadis will use anyone, esp. people who look very Caucasian, if they can.
Bottom line: No doubt Paddock was a convert. At least definitely he was radicalized in some way so as to hate the US, as McV probably was, no matter if one thinks that’s crazy or not. The FBI, as usual, has probably given their usual threats to witnesses not to speak to anyone or they will toss them in jail and throw away the key, so nobody is going to talk to the press, or Twitter. The similarities are too close to ignore. And of course The Swamp would not want to admit, as in the McVeigh bombing, that they blew it with intel and we have ineffective security against these things.
And that is the real bottom line: The Swamp is still in control.
May God have mercy on us.

As far as I know, Allah has never rejected a convert for not doing shahada perfectly…I don’t know that Paddock converted in his closet but when someone starts mumbling about god and religion, anything is possible…

He was at the hotel in the past and a high roller they would keep a eye out for him when he shows up . Old footage of who he meet talk to spent time with. If he was a big winner there the hotel pays close attention to his actions to see if he is cheating filming his every move. There was a story about a terrorist training camp just South of Juarez in Mexico near EL Paso. The leader bragged about crossing over the border back and forth to SCOUT OUT SITES in the US to an Italian newspaper reporter . Tucson and Texas were talked about ..but that is not that far from LAS VEGAS. Judicial Watch had a report on it on their site. This is what can happen by not SECURING OUR BORDER with Mexico for years and years.
Richie says
if this is true there is a huge cover-up afoot. The left is insisting the shooter was a militia type white nationalist and a Trump supporter. I don’t know what to believe. Any connections to Islam are being loudly dismissed by investigators- they imply the shooter was a lone suicidal nut without any religion or political agenda. Some suggest he may have reacted badly to his meds
Ashley says
I understand, Richie. Too many theories, too few answers.
I just can’t dismiss the findings that have surfaced these past few days. ISIS specifically named Las Vegas as a prime target back in May. ISIS is adamant that Paddock operated under their directive. Mr. Spencer has noted numerous times that ISIS hasn’t made false claims of responsibility in past attacks.
This is where it gets sketchy and vague for me as I will openly admit it is merely a hunch. I strongly believe Paddock did not act alone. He had support.
Marilou is worthless to this investigation, IMO. I don’t believe her.
Sons of Liberty says
Richie , if Paddock were a white nationalist / Trump supporter …why would he pick a country music festival to attack ? There would be Trump supporters/voters there and a large percentage of them would be white. The left is known for lies , as well as their MSM/fake news allies. Don’t believe them.
Georger Lobe says

I’m thinking Paddock was a gambler, and caught the eye of ISIS on a foreign trip, or he sought them out. He was probably in trouble and needed a bail out. Money. Money is the motive. Greed. This guy was spending money like a nut on gambling. I think he made a deal with ISIS or Al Qaida, to kill for cash, a long long time ago. Many years ago. I think they told him his family would be tortured if he didn’t get the job done this month, so he did it.

Then why has FBI collared and silenced the LV Sheriff after he spoke of ‘radicalization’ and ‘accomplices’?

I have 0 % confidence in the FBI . They have been politicized and are good at covering up anything that looks bad for Muslims and Islam . Did you notice that the Sheriff that has been doing all the press briefings and stated they believe he was possibly radicalized did not do the latest briefing ? Now the story was shifted back to the start when the FBI stated there was NO EVIDENCE of any connection to a terrorist organization. Looks like the FBI handling of San Benardino . It is obvious to me that ISIS is telling the truth when it claims that it was behind the Las Vegas massacre. Who else targets concerts? There was the Paris massacre and the Birmingham, England massacre. Mr. Spencer reports that a n ISIS recruit in New York City was ousted arrested for conspiring to attack concert goers. ISIS has also repeatedly called on its followers to target Las Vegas-from their point of view, the kuffar’s sin city par excellence. The Las Vegas killer scouted out several concert sites and booked hotels near them all across the country before settling on this particular concert as his target. What possible motive would he have to do that except to carry out orders he received from an ISIS commander? And why shouldn’t an aging rich man who had lived the empty life of a professional gambler and had few friends not be attracted to a cause that would give his life and death some sort of meaning, at least to himself and his new “brothers?” With old age and death approaching, why not guarantee himself paradise and the 72 virgins? It all makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is why the FBI and the media are trying so hard to cover this up.
Jack Diamond says
It is the explanation that makes the most sense, the lengthy planning and preparations (and choice of target) sure mitigate against the sudden psychotic episode theory. The only thing that does not fit is the shooter. The missing link is something connecting Paddock to Islam, besides just cruises that visited Muslim countries. There are rumors (there are always rumors) of digital or video evidence linking him to Islam or ISIS that the White House is aware of, but it’s just another story floating around. There are rumors that following the money leads to a terrorist connection. Without evidence all we are left with is a nut and a debate about gun control.
Adam Dalgliesh says
Unfortunately, all true. But my guess is that the FBI has the evidence that the killer was a jihadist agent but is covering it up. According to Understandingthethreat.com’ the FBI has tried to cover up numerous jihadist attacks in the past. See their statement of Oct. 6 and Oct. 3 on their website.
