No one believes them, but the Islamic State continues to claim the Las Vegas shooting.
“ISIS release new video, bragging that Las Vegas shooting is REVENGE for US attacks against their ‘caliphate,’” by Gareth Davies, Mailonline, October 3, 2017:
Islamic State has released a new video bragging that the Las Vegas massacre was revenge for US attacks against their caliphate.
In what appears to be a desperate publicity stunt, the terror group claimed the horrific acts of Stephen Paddock, 64, were down to them, saying they radicalised him months before he shot 58 people dead and injured 527 more on Sunday night. He then committed suicide.
FBI officials rubbished the claims, saying he had no affiliation to any terrorist organisations, but the Islamic extremists took to their propaganda news agencies to spread the word.
The latest to emerge is on the pro-ISIS Al-Battar Media Foundation who released a two-minute video in English titled Rightful Revenge, unearthed by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
The video presents excerpts from an eye- witness’s testimony about the attack, from statements by the Las Vegas Sheriff, and from an old recording by British ISIS executioner Mohamed Emawzi, who became known as Jihadi John.
In his speech, he says that attacks on Muslims would result in bloodshed in the aggressors’ home countries.
A written message appearing on the screen declares that the film is ‘a message to America and her allies from the Islamic State,’ that ‘as you kill us in our country, we will kill you in your country’.
It also shows the scene of the atrocity from above awash with blood with the caption ‘we are back because of your arrogant foreign policy towards the Islamic State’.
The video also singles out Donald Trump, insisting the President had ignored their previous ‘serious’ warnings.
A song, featured regularly in previous Arabic propaganda videos, plays in the background with the lyrics ‘Oh, my brothers, jihad is the way, to bring back the honour, the glorious day. The promise of Allah will always remain, the fight for his sake is the ultimate gain’.
Yesterday, the terror group put out a statement claiming shooter Stephen Paddock was a ‘soldier of the Islamic State’.
But the FBI dismissed the claim – saying there was nothing in Paddock’s background to suggest he had become a follower of Isis….
Yochanan says
Easy question for the hotels and girlfriend: did have any alcoholic drinks recently? It would be difficult to claim Islamic radicalization if he continued to enjoy alcoholic drinks.
DJ says
The 911 hijackers drank while training on aircraft in FL. One way to be forgiven of their sin of drinking alcohol is the preform a jihad attack.
gravenimage says
Exactly, DJ.
Jack Diamond says
Concealment requires the opposite of showing signs of “Islamic radicalization”. It also allows what is otherwise forbidden. When Muhammad said “war is deceit” it became doctrine.
Søren Ferling says
A person acting like that is called a ‘takfiri’ after ‘takfir’ for doing forbidden things.
Jack Diamond says
Those practicing concealment are not at all outside Islam or apostate (takfir comes from kafir). A takfiri Muslim pronounces takfir (apostasy) on other Muslims.
They are legitimately concealing or lying through the doctrine of necessity, Daruna, making the forbidden permissible (as when Muhammad allowed followers to denounce him or Islam to save their life or to fool an enemy), or the doctrine of flexibility in concealment, Muruna, “living a lie” when behind “enemy lines” (i.e. among the kuffar). These are perfectly proper Islamic strategies, always have been. They are DOCTRINE.
Søren Ferling says
@ Jack – i don’t disagree – only supplement. I remember Muhammed Atta was called a takfiri – he went to discoteks og drank alkohol.
Joe says
His room service bill (at least that is the claim) followed all Islamic laws. He had Pepsi, water, burgers, and bagels.
gravenimage says
Joe, lots of people would have orders that look like that. His room service is not enough to go on.
gfmucci says
Still, I find it odd that the FBI dismissed the shooter’s “radicalization” within 12 hours of the shooting – this without having collected or analyzed all the phones, computers, tablets, emails, phone calls, and social media apps. Sounded a bit premature and hokey to me.
Jim says
Right. And REMEMBER, the head OF THE FBI, Comey, dismissed everything Hillary did before even questioning her or aids!
It will take a while for my trust to come back! I want sunlight on it all.
Kiki says
I can’t figure out if ISIS is lying about Paddock, or if they’re telling the truth. Either way, they’re gloating over the attacks and calling for even more.
Everyone needs to stay alert–and calm–and watch out for each other. Tell police about unattended bags/packages in public places, learn what to do in mass-shooting events, learn self-defense techniques. As scary as things are now, these are steps that could help save lives.
The people in Vegas showed remarkable compassion–donating blood, risking their own lives to save wounded friends, using pick-ups to get strangers to the hospital. We’re in this together, with them.

yes, we are, and it was comforting to see everybody pitching in. if paddock was insane, there is not much that can be done; if he was a pious muslim or a kidnap victim of same, OTOH, there is much that should be done, but will not be, because fools and traitors prevent the police from protecting us, and even try to prevent us from protecting ourselves.
Chand says
Yes, Kiki, you are right. But what about another major loophole that needs to be plugged………….easy availability of military type weapons by the public, some of whom are psychopaths and ticking time bombs?
gravenimage says
Of course, there are no Jihad terror attacks in places with heavy gun control…oh, wait…yes, there are…
Chand says
But the threat of Jihadis and psychos acquiring them becomes compounded with easy availability.
gravenimage says
Actually, Jihad is far worse in many places with stricter gun control than the US as Chand well knows.
Richard Paulsen says
So sorry. We, all normal persons of all background and believes must do our utmost do stop such hideous acts. It is being encouraged by too much misdirected kindness.
All economical, military and human help and just growing demands and terror. Must be stopped.
b.a. freeman says
it wouldn’t surprise me if IS was not connected to the planning of the las vegas attack, but if paddock had converted to islam, there doesn’t need to be a direct connection; both would have been islamic, which is enough. by saying that there is no direct connection, the FBI is splitting hairs (assuming that paddock had been infected with islam).
most of the legacy coverage of the incident so far seems to paint paddock as insane. what type of insanity are they positing? how well-organized are the sufferers of such an insanity? until i get answers to those two questions, i have to say that the attack looks a lot like an pious islamic attack, other than the suicide of the attacker. given that his girlfriend, marilou danley, was asian (possibly a refugee granted australian citizenship via marriage), there is a possibility that she or some of her relatives turned him.
Brian Hoff says
His girlfriend was Catholic and he was than non-Catholic christian. Than angry old white man who is angry that white will be than minority by 2050. No trie to Islam terrority network.
Debi Brand says
It should be noted, we all can take comfort in knowing, upon close examination of the “exaggerated” threats from ISIS, few times—if ever—have their instructions and warnings produce acts in kind.
As in, they called for, providing crucial detail after details for the same, “Just Terror” acts of arson, of knife attacks, of robberies, of Vehicular attacks, and of attacks “Armed with a Firearm.”
In the later, stating, “the scenario for such an attack is that one assaults a busy, public, and enclosed location and rounds up the kuffar who are present.” (Rumiyah, Issue 9, P. 47.)
How ridiculous! Round up the kuffar, as if they were cattle in pen?! They wished…
They carry on, prescribing, their operator, then, “having gained control over the victims,” then, “one should then proceed to slaughter as many as he can before the initial police response.” Pointing then to “ the Bataclan theater massacre”—as if we are supposed to believe that show actually happened—as an outstanding to be emulated performance of the dedicated mujahidin.
A performance in which, “three soldiers of the Khalifah, armed with assault rifles and hand grenades, stormed the theater, taking up positions and firing at the Crusader citizens present.”
Give me a break, like, I’m really sure, “taking up positions and firing at the Crusader citizens present”? Wishful thinking, dude. Wishful thinking…
Ridiculous. Never happen, as is so with all the above ISIS called for attacks—nothing more that the desperate wild imaginations of a clearly dying breed.
“War is deception,” they further instruct.
Nonsense, not today. Either post your beliefs, acts, and plans on facebook or they are nonexistent.
gravenimage says
Why would “Brian Hoff”–really, “DefenderofIslam”–deny this is Jihad? Only because at this point it would “make Islam look bad”.
SK says
It cannot be demonstrated that he even cared about racial statistics.
He is not known to be religious; you can’t prove Paddock has even been to church, or even that Paddock grew up with a family containing religious people.
mortimer says
Stephen Paddock’s girl friend was very suspiciously in Dubai, a financial capital. Paddock had great gambling losses. Did he owe money to someone. Did his girlfriend pick up the money for him. Was that money payment for his jihad and a widow’s pension for Marilou Danley?
What was she doing in Dubai?
Jack Diamond says
For one thing, she has a niece working in Dubai (according to her post on FB). They like Filipino slave labor over there. No idea if Paddock accompanied her or what he was up to. This guy is a such a ghost (so far) people can imagine anything about him. I especially like all the psychobabble going on about someone they know almost nothing about.
His daddy was “psycho” therefore he is and that explains it all? (what about his siblings?). Where is the evidence of violence or mental illness or psycho behavior previous to the shooting? His gambling addiction explains this? He didn’t have loses enough to ruin him, not that I’ve heard. His taking valium explains this? Really? Where all the people who’ve known him or worked with him coming forward?
His brother likes being on t.v. but it’s clear he barely really knows him. No one does. Maybe the girlfriend, but I have my doubts about even that. We do know he was a calculating, careful, meticulous gambler and that he killed in the same way. But why….
gravenimage says
All true, Jack. I hope more solid information comes out.
Jack Diamond says
This is a recent LA Times article on the guy. In more recent years neighbors describe him as a recluse and unfriendly. He’d with Marilou to a karaoke bar, she sang, he’s remembered as “creepy.” Obviously, something changed. Also, for someone who worked as a mailman and accountant he amassed a lot of money. He was either terrific at real estate or one lucky gambler. Or one smart criminal.
“Paddock’s former brother-in-law, Scott Brunoehler, recalled the gunman in the 1970s and 1980s as a smart, fun-loving person who enjoyed entertaining on his boat at Castaic Lake and Buena Vista Lake in Kern County.
“He seemed like a normal, good guy. I don’t remember anything bad back then at all,” said Brunoehler, whose sister, Sharon, married Paddock in 1977. “I’m still in shock.”
Paddock listed his occupation as postal carrier at the time of their marriage. He worked for a predecessor to Lockheed Martin for three years in the late 1980s, according to a company statement. His brother-in-law said he was an accountant; public records describe him as an internal auditor.
He also owned rental properties across the country. In Los Angeles, Paddock co-owned two run-down apartment buildings in a working-class neighborhood of Hawthorne.
For nearly a decade, he owned an apartment complex in the Dallas suburb of Mesquite. Tenant Richard Gehring said Paddock improved the Texas property by checking applicants’ credit and quickly evicting those who didn’t pay.
“Some of the rougher people left,” said Gehring, a roadway engineer.
As he watched television coverage Monday, Gehring said it seemed impossible that the gunman was his mild mannered landlord.
“He was just a nice guy, and that was it,” Gehring said. “There’s nothing really that sets him out from anybody else.”
Paddock sold the complex in 2012.
Paddock had lived near his mother and brother in Florida for several years but decided to move to Nevada a few years ago to escape the humidity and play high-level poker, Eric Paddock said.
Donald Judy’s wife, Sharon, who lived next door to Paddock in Florida, said he described himself as a world traveler and “professional gambler by trade” and said he once showed her a picture of himself winning a $20,000 slot-machine jackpot.
“He was friendly all the time,” she said.

Hi, Debi. I have read that the FBI flagged some of his contributions for having terrorist links–this seemed like solid information. Now I can’t find the original article–sorry. If I do find it, I will definitely post the link here.

Bronson says
If he was jihadding then Paddock would not have killed himself.
gravenimage says
This is not hard and fast. One of the Paris Jihadists jumped out a window to his certain death as police were closing in.
Danforth says
Paddock certainly did not fit the ‘profile’ of an Islamic jihadist convert. At 64 and wealthy, it seems most unlikely that they ‘got’ to him.
However, we only have the word of the first armed responders who entered his room. Who knows exactly what they found? Was he already dead from suicide, or did they kill him? I heard an early news report saying shots were fired as they entered his room. Nothing after that.
A bigger question is this: What did these first responders want the MSM and public to believe about what they found? Will internal hotel videos be made public? It seems unlikely he carried this horrendous act out by himself, although shooting sequences support a single shooter scenario (time taken to reload as an example).
On the other hand, why were two windows broken when he could have inflicted even more carnage by taking time to only hammer out just one. He must have known that alarm bells or attention would be paid as soon as noise (and shards below) from smashing glass reached the next room or down the hall.
So many unknowns and so many reasons to conceal certain truths. Was this to be the end of single deranged shooter incident, or the beginning of a new wave of Islamic terrorism?
Jack Diamond says
The sin of suicide would not compare to the virtue of such a mass slaughter of the enemies of Allah.
Assuming he was a Muslim. Assuming he killed himself.
Besides, Muhammad himself tried to commit suicide. Even though he condemned it, he is still the model of conduct….don’t do as I do, do as I say!
Debi Brand says
“Jibril” allegedly came to the “Prophet,” appearing to him “beside Harra and said, ‘Give the good news to your followers that whoever dies without joining others to worship with Allah, will enter Paradise.’”
It further provides, the “Prophet” then inquired, “ ‘Even if he had committed theft or committed illegal sexual intercourse?’” and the record relates, “Gabriel said, “Yes, even if he had committed theft of committed illegal sexual intercourse.” (al-Bukhari, The Book of Ar-Riqaq [Softening of the Hearts]) # 6443, 6444.)
Footnotes thereat provide, “In some copies of Sahih Al-Bukhari it is also mentioned: “Even if he has drunk alcoholic liquors.”
Debi Brand says
Add to the above (short on time here, nonetheless…):
Our Vegas killer was shot by the first responders, thus, his blood flowed; therefore, if he was jihadi, the following then, from the Islamic perspective, applies:
“The Prophet said: ‘There is nothing more beloved to Allah than two drops and two traces: A teardrop shed out of fear of Allah, and a drop of blood shed in Allah’s cause.” (At-Tirmidhi, Ibid [Vol. 3], #1669.)
Additionally, “The Messenger of Allah” also said, “‘Do you not love that Allah forgive your sins and admit you into Paradise?” (Ibid, # 1650.) To which, one could safely reason, all would answer affirmatively, “Yes.”
(Ibn Qayyim, in Provisions of the Afterlife, renders that hadith this way: “Do you not want Allaah to forgive you? He who fights for the sake of Allaah will enter Paradise.” [P. 288.])
Thus the hadith continues, with “Allah’s Messenger” providing clear instructions on what to do to receive that desired forgiveness and to be assured safe passage into Paradise:
“ ‘Then fight in the cause of Allah, for whoever fights in Allah’s cause for the time it takes for two milkings [sic]of a camel, then Paradise is obligatory for him.’ (Hasan)
“[Abu ‘Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan.”
“The time between two milkings [sic] of a camel,” provide the Imams of knowledge in Islam, “is known as Fuwaq-u-Naqah (literally, hiccups of the she-camel).” Thus, the hadith means, “that even a little period of time spent in Jihad is more meritorious than the voluntary Salat of seventy years in one’s house.” (Ibid [at-Tirmidhi], P. 402.)
Shoshonnah says
Its been reported that Steve Paddock recorded the rampage and live streamed it…to where, we do not know. However, if he was with ISIS, wouldn’t he have streamed it to them, and they would have included the footage of the shooting in their latest propaganda flick? I do tend to still believe ISIS as they don’t have a history of false claims. But, the oversight is…odd.

mmmm… too many questions… no answers… where are the security camera tapes?? What is the Philippines connection??? The Philippines was just classified as a Muslim Country. Who is the girlfriend?
What is her background? How did they get together? Why is it the cameras supposedly were set up for him to film himself have not tapes??? How did he get from 1 window to the next so quickly with those heavy weapons? How is it 3 hours after the shooting he was deemed not a terrorist???? Why did the sheriff say it was an act of terrorism? too many unanswered questions…. interesting that ISIS put out the call to do this type of mass murdering… but no connections here…. none of it makes sense…..

Of all the terrorist attacks that have occured in the United States, as far as I can tell, ISIS has never taken credit for an attack that was not theirs. Why now would ISIS claim that this attack is theirs. Because it was BIG!, because it was dramatic, because its was horrible, because it caused the deaths & injurys of hundreds!! Maybe!! How hard would it be for ISIS to infiltrate the mind of a left wing nut case!. But then again… just maybe….. this really was orchestrated by ISIS. Maybe time will finally disclose the truth.
