What’s really treason is these Christian leaders standing with those who would oppress and subjugate their communities under the dhimma, just as much as they would oppress and subjugate the Jews under the dhimma if they had a chance. In the time of the great caliphates, the Muslim rulers would always keep the dhimmi communities divided from one another and as hostile to one another as possible. This is yet more of that, but as always, the Christian leaders don’t realize how they’re being played.
“Muslim and Christian leaders: ‘Selling land to Jews is treason,'” Arutz Sheva, October 29, 2017 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
Azzam al-Khatib, director of the Islamic Waqf properties in Jerusalem, is calling on Christians not to sell Church land to Jews, calling it “treason.”
In an interview with the Hamas newspaper Al-Risala, Khatib said that many sources in the Christian community had told of various real estate transactions that had taken place with Jews.
He said that the issue was being examined in conjunction with the Palestinian Authority and the Jordanian leadership in an attempt to find a solution to the problem.
Israeli archbishop Atallah Hanna, known for his support of the Palestinian Arabs, called for preventing the transfer of ownership of the assets of the Greek Orthodox Church, noting that the attempt by Israelis to purchase lands previously owned by the Greek Orthodox Church hurts the local Arab population.
Earlier, Christian cleric Manuel Muselim, a member of the Christian Islamic Council for the Support of Holy Sites and former head of the Latin Church in Gaza, warned that churches in Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem “serve the Israeli occupation plan.”
He added that there is evidence that in the past these churches sold land in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Hevron, stressing that any sale of Church land to the “Israeli occupation” was a “grave betrayal” of the “Palestinian people” in general and Palestinian Arab Christians in particular.
Under Palestinian Authority (PA) law, selling of land to Jews is criminal and punishable by death. However, such sentences must be approved by the PA chairman, and current chairman Mahmoud Abbas has preferred to authorize life sentences for such offenses, possibly wary of an international backlash….
The Greek Orthodox Church owns large amounts of property in Jerusalem and has often been criticized by both Jews and Arabs due to its involvement in real estate deals. Currently, a major controversy is raging, as it was recently revealed that the church sold land in the Rehaviah and Talbiyeh neighborhoods to a mystery buyer.
Over 1,000 apartments already sit on the land, causing confusion among residents whose home-owner security is suddenly in doubt, and MKs Rachel Azariah (Kulanu) and Yossi Yonah (Zionist Union) have been working in the Knesset to guard the residents’ property rights.
In August, the Jerusalem District Court ruled that there was nothing improper in a real estate deal transferring ownership of two Old City hotels from the Greek Orthodox Church to Ateret Cohanim, an organization which works to strengthen the Jewish presence in Jerusalem’s Old City and in other historically Jewish neighborhoods in eastern Jerusalem.
In the decision, Judge Gila Kanfi-Steinitz ruled that there was no proof that the deals between the church and subsidiaries of Ateret Cohanim were a result of bribery or of fraud. She also ordered the church to pay Ateret Cohanim’s legal fees, totaling NIS 30,000 ($8,420).
The hotels are prominently located next to the Jaffa Gate in the Old City, and the decision to sell them to Ateret Cohanim caused a firestorm among the city’s Arab residents. The Greek Orthodox Church sued, claiming that the deals were illegally signed by an employee without authorization, setting off years of litigation.

Archbishop Atallah Hanna and Manuel Muselim are dhimmis who betray the church, Muslims and Jews at the same time. The Koran is clear about Jews being commanded by Allah to inhabit the land of Israel.
I am constantly amazed at the lack of understanding of Islam amongst Christians who live in Muslim lands. They have simply not done the reading list and they get an automatic FAIL GRADE.
They are culpably negligent in learning about Islam’s essential doctrines.

It appears that these, along with the whole western world, have culpability in the ignorance of the goals of islam.
St. Manuel II Palaiologos says
Archbishop Hanna is not a dhimmi. The land of the Church is the land of the Church, period end of story. It doesn’t belong to Muslims or to Jews.
gravenimage says
Bowing to the savagery of Islam is the very definition of dhimmitude.
Michael says
Archbishop Hanna is a dhimmi because he still considers himself bound by the pact his ancestors made with Satan.
mortimer says
For your information, Old Palaiologos,
Dhimmitude literally means ‘protection-ism’. Under Dhimmitude, people are offered ‘protection’ from persecution or death by the Islamic rulers themselves as long as the dhimmis do not resist their INFERIORITY IN ANY MANNER.
gravenimage says
True, Mortimer. They can still be oppressed and persecuted, but are supposed to be spared death so long as no dhimmi gets out of line. I f they do, it is open season on them all.

“The Koran is clear about Jews being commanded by Allah to inhabit the land of Israel.”
Is that alive or dead. Citation please.
gravenimage says
This was only true back when Jews were–supposedly–all actually Muslims (Islam pretends that all Jewish prophets were actually Muslim).
They have since forfeited all their rights to Muslims, as Islam sees it.
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
Ah, I get it. What he meant was YHVH not Allah.
gravenimage says
Actually, Mortimer has made this assertion before. The Qur’an (early verses) *does* note that “Allah” gave Israel to the Jews–but it quickly notes that the Jews disappointed Allah by not being Muslim enough, and they lost “Allah’s” favor.
So positing this as Muslim having to respect the Jews’ rights to Israel–all respect to Mortimer and his scholarship–really makes no sense.

The Christians going along with this are either useful idiots or else hostages to threats from the surrounding dominant Islamic culture.
LeftisruiningCanada says
That was exactly what i was going to bring up.
It’s hard for us to be sure in any particular case, because antisemitism is unfortunately real within the visible Church, but there is a delicate game that Christian leaders are forced to play in Muslim lands. On the one hand they want to uphold the Christian faith. On the other, they have no choice but to make nice with the muslims that surround the many faithful Arab Christians, who can and will harm them if the imams start telling them to.
If this Christian leader was to say “We’ll sell land to who ever we choose!”, there’s a very good chance that life would get even harder and more dangerous for Christians in Israel. And perhaps not only there, but also in the surrounding lands where the Christians are essentially held hostage by islam already.
Not sure which it is in this case, but his position is not an easy one. We can be sure of that at least.
gravenimage says
Yes–this is true in Muslim lands.
But Israel is the only place in the Middle East where Christians are *not* at risk from Muslim oppression and violence.
As for their fate under Muslim conquest if they were able to destroy Israel, just look at the plight of Christians in the “Palestinian territories”, and especially in Gaza.
LeftisruiningCanada says
When referring to Israel, i have a habit of including the west bank also. Not that you should have known that of course.
I’m not sure that i can completely agree that Christians are not at risk in Jerusalem, for example. While the muslims usually seek to harm Jews, it’s not impossible for Christians to be targeted directly or indirectly. I’ve known Christians personally who have been attacked physically and via other methods (legally, sexual pressure etc) living in Jerusalem.
We know that islam is, amongst other things, a great example of a gang or mafia type arrangement (some say the famous mafia of sicily came about as a consequence of the muslim occupation there), and as such, if one should offend a nearby representative, the distant ones are also angered.
And yes, if Israel were to fall utterly, something which is unlikely imho, things would go badly for everyone else for sure.
gravenimage says
I meant that Christians in Israel are not at risk from *Israeli authorities*.
Certainly, Christians in Israel are still at risk from Muslims there–just as Jews in Israel are. But they are still safer than in any part of Dar-al-Islam.
The “West Bank” is much more hazardous–just look at what has happened to the Christians in Bethlehem. And things are even worse in Gaza, where there is *nothing* to constrain Muslim savagery against them.

“First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people.” — That’s a phrase uttered by jihadists and sharia Muslims, referring to the order in which peoples are to be dominated. I’d say that in the battle now being waged worldwide to establish Islamic hegemony everywhere, Christians cannot afford to do without Jewish intellectual, spiritual, and human capital. We need all the help we can get. (Full disclosure: My background is half-Jewish, half-Christian.)

I expect Muslims to be derelict in their thinking. It is their wont. But I don’t expect the same from Christians.
You know, Islam has always been a negative (sometimes with a superficial positive here and there but always, way underneath, a complete negative). Christianity in so many ways has been a true positive (and I say this as the agnostic which I am). But right now, while there are still many Christians who have the proper sense and knowledge of Islam (e.g., that Jesus, appropriated by Islam as yet another Muslim prophet, as has been Noah, Abraham, Moses, et al., is going to come back at the end of the world and throw all the Christians into Hell for deifying Him), there is a multitude of silly Christians growing at an exponential rate who actually (yeah, can you believe this?) think that Islam is a religion a Christian should respect. Look no further for confirmation of this sad (and deadly) truth than the fool currently occupying the throne of St. Peter, one who presides over the largest Christian sect in all the world.
Show me a Christian who respects Islam and I will show you a fool or even something worse than a “mere” fool, i.e., one actually complicit with the enabling of evil. No exceptions. Not one. Why not begin here with the current Pope who is arguably doing more to harm the Roman Catholic Church than any person in history, Pope or non-Pope, Christian or non-Christian. Yeah, he’s this awful and I am so glad I am not a Catholic because it would break my heart (and confuse me terribly) that such a man could have ever been elected to the highest office in the Catholic world.
Again can be seen that Islam is NOT the main problem. Rather, non-Muslims aplenty making excuses for the malevolence which is Islam are the chief culprits because the enabling of evil by the willfully ignorant (and cowardly) is ALWAYS worse than evil itself because it prolongs the life of evil that even evil can’t manage to do.
Voytek Gagalka says
I.e., yet another example of naked Jew-hatred. Unfortunately, history of Christendom is rotten with multiple examples of prosecution of Jews. That they stand again against Jews is quite symptomatic and stays with agreement on their long dark tradition of pure antisemitism.
dumbledoresarmy says
And yet if you read the Apostolic Creed or the Nicene Creed, there is NO blaming of Jews-as-such there whatsoever.
Jew-hatred is, I contend – and I am a fully-instructed and professing Christian – NOT a necessary normal or inherent part of being a Christian.
People like Corrie ten Boom and Jacques Ellul and James Parkes were very serious, orthodox and convinced Christians. They were *also* staunch and well-informed Friends of Zion. They did not seem to think that in befriending (and in the case of Corrie and Jacques, risking their lives to *save*) Jews they were going *against* the teachings of their faith or against their scripture. So whatever it is that has, historically, led some Christians to behave *extremely* badly toward Jews – and, in so doing, to SIN grievously, because of breaking the commandment to “love your neighbour as yourself” – it is not the teachings of Jesus (Yehoshuah) *nor* his example.
Pong says
If enough christians were honest about anti-semitism, first thing they would’ve done is abolish gospel of John, and put it in a garbage were it belongs. It is anti-semitic without reservations. This gospel reveals obsession with the jews.
Coach says
These are not Christian leaders.
Christian leaders acknowledge Jesus as the only God . . . not Allah.
We have to be more careful with the term Christianity. Christians did not conduct the Crusades for example. Crusades killed millions of Christians in France, Spain and Germany. Would you believe between 25 and 50 million? But it would be politically incorrect to set the record straight. Too confusing.
Let us brush up on history.and make a contribution to this situation. Define Christianity as those who read and accept the Bible as the only authority given to man by God rather than a random Archbishop.
FYI says
Does his most sacred holiness…{by the way,can he not afford to buy a cross?Where is it?Is he afraid of offending muslims by witnessing for the One he claims to follow}……the archbishop, not know that..
allah curses the Jews AND the Christians koran 9:30?
OR THAT
“O ye who believe! Many of the {Jewish} Rabbis and the {Christian} monks devour the wealth of mankind wantonly and debar men from the way of allah”
koran 9 v 34
…unlike muslims of course{sarc} who, following the “way of allah” never steal the wealth of countries they invade..
Muslims,in their “way of allah”……..have a long, long, long history of theft and stealing…especially the wealth of the Jews and the Christians…
But then it is commanded by their god allah himself {and in total violation of God’s 8th Commandment, a concept lost on muslims}:-
“allah promiseth much booty that ye will capture, and hath given you this in advance, and hath withheld men’s hands from you, that it may be a token for the believers, and that he may guide you on the right path”
Koran 48 v 20
WHAT? allah is ok with theft? That’s funny because God clearly isn’t.
allah’s encouragement to break God’s Eight commandment prohibiting stealing:so is that being “on the right path”?allah gives his followers a token of STOLEN BOOTY.
The “holy” koran:it breaks ALL God’s Commandments. It’s comedy gold with all the errors in it.And like malaria,it just keeps on coming back….

John M. Oda says
This is the JOKE of the century!! How can you sell something that these people owned before there was anything called Islam? I call this the latest attempt by Muslims to insult the Jews!! I want all the Arab and Muslim countries to understand that ISRAEL is the BEST country in the Middle East and THEY ARE HERE TO STAY!! God bless Israel!!!!
dumbledoresarmy says
There *are* other Christians, within Israel, who know better. Fr Gabriel Naddaf, for example; and the many young Arab (or Aramaean?) Christians who follow his advice and volunteer to serve in the IDF so as to help Israel remain free and safe in the face of the onslaught of Jihad.
The sensible Christians know that they are much, much better off inside Israel than their Christian neighbours who suffer the misery of de facto dhimmitude or of near-dhimmi status in places like Egypt, Syria or Iraq…or any *other* part of the dar al Islam. In Jordan and Lebanon the lot of the surviving Christian minority is precarious. Not so long ago the Christians in Syria, allied with the semi-Muslim Alawites, were doing kinda-sorta-ok (though not in any way as well off as the average Christian in a free western country like, say, Australia). But then jihad blew up underneath them and everything turned to sh*t overnight.
As for dealing with those who are enslaved by the dhimmi mindset: I would advise authorities in Israel to get hold of Rev Dr Mark Durie’s book on dhimmitude, “The Third Choice” and get it translated into Arabic – and Hebrew. Arabic, and unremittingly circulate and broadcast it amongst the Christians. Hebrew too.. for the benefit of Jews, especially those whose families lived as dhimmis in assorted portions of the Empire of Islam, for generations. It would explain a lot. Bat Yeor’s “Islam and Dhimmitude’ could be circulated alongside; Durie’s and Bat Yeor’s works inform and reinforce each other.
