Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Mozambique: 16 dead as Muslim gunmen attack police stations

Oct 14, 2017 10:05 am By Robert Spencer

Nowhere in the world is free of jihad violence.

“16 dead as Islamic gunmen attack Moz cops,” AFP, October 7, 2017 (thanks to Robert):

Suspected Islamists attacked a string of police stations in a small town in northern Mozambique killing two policemen but 14 of the gunmen were slain, police said on Saturday.

Police have been slow in releasing details of the attacks which occurred on Thursday and Friday in Mocimboa de Praia.

“We recorded 14 deaths and several bandits were wounded,” police spokesperson Inacio Dina told AFP.

Police said the attacks were coordinated.

Local media said three police stations in the sleepy town, 80km from natural gas fields, were targeted.

At a news conference on Thursday, Dina suggested the attackers were linked to a homegrown “radical Islamic sect” but gave no details.

Police have so far arrested 10 other gunmen, recovered four firearms and more than 100 rounds of ammunition.

“The motive of the attacks is still unknown but in the past police arrested some religious leaders of Islamic extremist sects,” Dina said.

“The way they operated makes us believe that there is a structure behind the group,” Dina told AFP, but ruled out any links “between the attackers and external forces”.

“There is no evidence that they are members of Shabaab or Boko Haram. According to the information gathered, all those captured or killed are Mozambicans,” said the police spokesperson speaking from the capital Maputo.

A local journalist suggested on social media that the attackers belonged to the virtually unknown group, Swalissuna, which has been in existence for about five years.

“They have specific grievances with the police and aimed the attack at them,” tweeted journalist and private media owner Erik Charas….

Remember Bob Dylan’s song “Mozambique” on his 1976 “Desire” album?

“I like to spend some time in Mozambique. The sunny sky is aqua blue.” And so on.

Wonderful violins. Now (Mozambique) not so wonderful.

I think Dylan was being sarcastic. The situation there was also bad then.

What, because they uphold Mozambique law, not Allah’s laws?

      That would be it, shoehorn.

Nah, they were BLM supporters fighting the oppression of racist cops!

David, I’m afraid the idea that Colombia is free from Islam is not entirely accurate:

      “Jihad in Colombia”

      https://www.jihadwatch.org/2004/03/jihad-in-colombia

The Muslim population there is fairly small, but is already plotting violence.

    ………………………..

No, it isn’t. Mozambique is just 18% Muslim, but that is enough for ravening Jihad violence.

    God, I hate Islam.

Of the 16, 2 are cops and 14 are jihadists? Either these cops are military or these jihadists are amateurs! In any case, good riddance of those 14!

Northern Mozambique was the end point of slave trails from Central Africa, eventually stopped by David Livingstone and the British navy. Arabs, based in Zanzibar and elsewhere along the coast, collected slaves brought to Cape Delgado for sale by black Muslim traders. the slaves mostly from what is now the country of Malawi. The trade lasted at least a thousand years.

It’s great to know that at least one other person knows their history. I’m so sick and tired of the false stories that most black americans espouse. The truth is, it is caucasians that eventually stopped the slave trade. The truth is that slavery was ongoing for over a thousand years, the stronger black tribes capturing other blacks and selling them to the Arabs!

Some 40 years ago one of the books I read was something like “South Africa after Vorster”
john Vorster was the South African Prime Minister and president, He warned all those years ago saying the next problem for Southern Africa and the rest of the world was the Muslim problem.
My brother and I in 2001 drove in some of the most remote parts of Southern Africa, you would pull into a very small town of a few thousand at most, you always filled up with fuel for the 4×4 when ever in a town because you never knew if the next town had fuel or not?
These towns were so poor, single story old colonial buildings, 70 & more years old, not many new buildings, excepting the new mosques, big shiny and new, bigger than the population needed, the amount of people in the town could not afford these buildings, so $ were supplied from? to expand. Violence hitting places like Mozambique makes me remember the quote by John Vorster.
    We were warned.
