“Leave them; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” (Matthew 15:14)
“Pope Francis Tells Migrants: ‘You Are Warriors of Hope,’” by Thomas D. Williams, Breitbart, October 1, 2017:
Pope Francis flew to Bologna, Italy, Sunday and met with a large group of migrants and refugees, calling them “warriors of hope” while insisting that nations open broader avenues for immigration.
During a full day in Bologna, Francis spent an hour meeting hundreds of migrants personally while posing with them for selfies under light drizzle. Later, the pontiff hosted a luncheon for asylum-seekers and prisoners in the St. Petronius basilica. He even donned a yellow plastic ID bracelet used by asylum-seekers to express his solidarity with them.
“Do you know what you are? You are ‘warriors of hope’!” Francis exclaimed during his address to the many migrants present, urging them not to give in to disappointment or despair.
In his address, the Pope also offered his explanation of why he believes some people in Europe oppose mass migration, building on earlier statements in which he suggested that xenophobia was fueling people’s concerns.
“Many do not know you and they are afraid,” he said. “This makes them feel entitled to judge harshly and coldly while thinking they see well. But this is not true. We see well only with the proximity that comes from mercy. Without this, the other remains a stranger, even an enemy, and cannot become my neighbor.”
The Pope suggested that immigration is an issue that can only be understood by meeting the people involved, rather than considering its causes and effects from afar.
“From a distance, we can say and think anything, as easily happens when terrible phrases and insults are written across the internet,” he said. “If we look upon our neighbor without mercy, we are unaware of his suffering, his problems.”
“Today all I see is a great desire for friendship and help,” the Pope continued. “I would like to thank the institutions and all the volunteers for the attention and commitment in taking care of those who are here.”
As he has done on other occasions, Francis recalled the words of the Gospel where Jesus Christ identified with the “least” among us.
“In you I see Jesus Christ, as with any stranger who knocks at our door, who identifies himself with the foreigner, of every age and condition, accepted or rejected,” he said.
Regarding concrete applications of his words, the Pope said it is “necessary for more countries to adopt private and community-based welcoming programs and to open humanitarian avenues for refugees in the most difficult situations, to avoid unbearable waiting periods and lost time.”
Last week, Pope Francis launched a two-year campaign to educate people about the plight of migrants and to provoke a “shift in thinking” toward them worldwide.
“Brothers, we mustn’t be afraid to share the journey! We mustn’t be afraid to share the hope!” Francis said in his weekly General Audience in Saint Peter’s Square, in which he inaugurated the new project, titled “Share the Journey.”
The campaign is being spearheaded by the global Catholic charities network Caritas Internationalis and aims at promoting awareness and action on behalf of migrants and refugees, assisting them in building connections with local communities.
In an address in the Vatican Saturday, Pope Francis seemed to ascribe people’s concerns with Europe’s migrant crisis to xenophobia, suggesting that a “culture of encounter” could remedy opposition to migration….

This pope is openly called a heretic by many of the finest catholic theologians in the world. Cardinals question his orthodoxy. He is a self-proclaimed admirer of communism and many individual communists. His stance on immigration (though formally not a question of catholic faith) is in open contradiction to the history of the church and the stance of even his immediate predecessors. As a cardinal he openly criticized Pope Benedict XVI.’s Regensburg lecture on faith and reason in Christianity and Islam. So the question is:
Warriors of hope for what? Hope for whom?
gravenimage says
Christians–including pontiffs themselves–have fought against Islam for hundreds of years, We would not be free now if they had not. “Logically speaking” hopes we don’t know that.
And the claim that future pontiffs are unable to read anything save Christian texts is ludicrous. Pope Francis has said, “Pope: ‘It is the Communists Who Think Like Christians’”.
Surely “Logically speaking” is not pretending that this appalling view is orthodox Christianity? Pope John Paul II understood the threat of Communism.

Jesus said we are to love our enemies. If you’re a Christian, this is an incredibly challenging and difficult spiritual concept. But, as with everything Jesus said–it reflects a profound comprehension of the reality of the human condition. Namely, it presupposes that we will actually HAVE enemies—people who are opposed to our values, and who seek to oppose, persecute and even destroy us.
But for many modern Christians, including this pope, I fear, they think Jesus got it wrong; they believe that we actually HAVE no enemies, and that everyone in the world is really our friend. This is a terribly flawed misunderstanding of both reality and the teachings of Jesus, IMO.
celia says
But when we are actively in danger from our enemies, then it is necessary to disengage from them and protect ourselves and those who depend on us to protect them. I have gotten that advice from Catholic priests in Confession. They recommended that I pray that their hearts be changed, but that I should stay away from them, that they were not capable of being in respectful relationship with me.
Would anyone have a convicted child rapist stay with them in their homes, their bedroom next to that of a child’s? Would it be the Christian thing to do so show love and trust for someone with a history of criminal child abuse?
The time has come to pull up the drawbridge and contain the threat, pray for the conversion of the wicked, but not allow them access to our homes, our families, and those of our fellow Americans.

I really hope for the day that the true catholics come into Action and free the churches from false prophets as Jesus did with the Temple. Jesus preaches love and non-violence, but he also says that we must stay up for our believe and not follow false leaders like Francis or Mohamed.

If Catholicism is the true faith, as Catholics understandably should believe (and as I was taught during twelve years of Catholic schooling), why would God allow such a doofus as Bergoglio to be elected pontiff at such a critical time in man’s history? I know that if God exists, He is suppose to often work in mysterious ways but this is pushing things.
And please spare me, anyone, the contention that Bergoglio was not duly elected. Yes he was, though I do find it suspicious that the former pontiff, a brave, knowledgeable and noble person, abdicated for health reasons, but is still living some four years after his abdication. Methinks the real problem does not lie with this pathetic excuse of a pontifex maximus but rather with that thousand year-old body, the College of Cardinals.
Interesting to speculate upon the premise that to the extent that the Catholic Church is in trouble, as it surely is right now, to that extent is all of Western Civilization in trouble——-as it surely is right now.

I always thought Catholic Priests had to be quite intelligent to get through their training. If Pope Francis is intelligent, he certainly isn’t wise.He probably also hasn’t been personally threatened by some scummy jihadist migrant. He’d best beware. As Pope, Francis has an automatic target on his back, placed there by Islam. He doesn’t seem to be a good defender of Christianity against the threat of Islam.
I’m so sorry that the previous Pope, Pope Benedict XVI, is no longer the Pope.
If the EU truly wanted to help the refugee situation and Europe, they should have fully overseen their own refugee services close to countries of first refuge, carefully vetted and accepted only refugees and economic migrants with compatible values, encourage higher birthrates and restrict abortions, so the population is at, at least replacement level, with people who don’t have a hidden agenda to destroy European culture and societies.

I’m sorry, I can’t take this anymore.
– If THIS is what Christianity means, if THIS is what Christianity is supposed to mean in the understanding of not just the Pope but of many catholics and protestants as well, then this is NOT a religion I can identify with.
– Of course I do well realize that there are many here who do NOT agree with this popes’ understanding of Jesus’ message – but still I think that he has quite a strong case for believing that he IS, in fact, acting in the way of Jesus.
I have very great problems with this. I think this Christian message is ultimately self-destructive, as you are always supposed to assume goodwill on the part of the “stanger”, the one “in need”, – and even when he shows none, you’re still told not to give up on him and be meek and non-aggressive.
In this way, Christianty really is the perfect victim.
Islam is always aggressive, Christianity, by word of Jesus Christ, is advocating passivity in the face of aggression.
Do understand that I am not trying to denounce any of you who feel deeply about your Christian faith.
I just wish there could be made a theologically strong(er) case against pope Francis’ convictions.
And I just don’t see that happening.
Boston Tea Party says
Mockinjay, I think your concern is justified, but I would just point out that from an historical perspective, Pope Francis’ take is a fairly unusual expression of the Christian worldview. Far from submitting to Islam, the Christian West in the past clearly recognized the falsity of Islam, and fought against it and held it off for centuries—which is why the West subsequently progressed so much faster than the Muslim world.
Unfortunately, modern multiculturalism and cultural relativism have now permeated every facet of Western society.
Lydia says
See? This is exactly what the devil wants; for people to confuse this pope with true Christianity. The two could not be more opposite! True Christianity is found in the Bible. This guy is the antichrist who is building the one world religion, one world government, and economy as per Revelation 13 in end times Bible prophecy. MANY will be deceived and follow after him. I am glad you see through that much.
These doctrines that he is tauting, they come from him, or twistings of his, but not the Bible. Yet, one must be familiar with the Bible to recognize the difference. Now as for the concept of non retaliation, yes that is in the Bible. BUT, there is also valid room given to self defense. In fact, when Jesus sent out the disciples after He was to leave them, He specifically told them to TAKE A SWORD! Not to kill, but for self defense! So it is all in exercising the wisdom and God given discernment of when to use what. There is a time to love your enemies. But that does not mean you bend over backwards and open the draw bridge and let in all the evil invaders to rape your families. God gave us a brain to use in matters like these as well. Many on this site are doing just that. It is a matter of wisdom.
Blessings.
gravenimage says
Mockingjay, none of us would be free today if Christians had not successfully fought against Islam for hundreds of years.
No–the Pope’s message of abject surrender to evil is *not* what Christianity teaches.

Edward Gibbon, a nineteenth century British historian (The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire) believed that the Roman Empire fell because it became Christian. He believed that Christianity had made the Romans soft and stupid. In his words, he said that the Romans had lost their martial spirit due to Christianity.
It sounds like you would agree with him. Am I correct?
I am, however, heartened to see that my American neighbours, by and large, have not lost their martial spirit. And many of those Americans with a strong martial spirit are also devout and true Christians. So maybe Gibbon was not entirely correct.
andra says
Francis does not follow Catholic doctrine. This say – naturally – that violence is not the aim of Christian believe. But the Catechism also Claims that violence is allowed if your home, your loved ones, your own life or your social order is in danger. So, every Catholic should turn to the Catechism and understand that we very well are asked by our faith to take care for the ongoing of it and are not forced to submission.
I personally take the christian non-violence-claim in its historic context. The Old Testament was at it time unique with the demand Eye for an eye. all others would take a life for an eye. And Jesus goes a step further and says no, you must not treat your enemy as brutally as he did with you, but he does not claim that you must not defend yourself. You may defend yourself and your society but you should use as little brutality as necessary. In the end this would have meant for all Christians to stop the Islamic Invasion into our countries years ago, as with every da we will have to be more cruel and brutal in order to stand up against the violence which is coming up soon.
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
Interesting perspective. I think there is truth in it. The Christian doctrine was overstated because eye-for-eye and blood feuds were so prevalent. No one back then worried that it would be adopted in a suicidal manner.

“Do you know what you are? You are ‘warriors of hope’!” Francis exclaimed…
No, these economic migrants are warriors of desperation and a crushing imposition on Europe and the west in general. I got nothing against helping those in need, but when it’s for people who hate our culture and increase crime and kill our people, then sorry if I don’t see them as “warriors of hope.” The real warriors are the indigenous population who sacrifice their health care and housing, their food, neighborhoods, their security, and sexual purity of their kids and women to horny muslim men. If these muslims had been true warriors they would have stayed and fixed their own country’s mess. Beggars, leeches, and jihadists don’t bring hope, they bring crime, expense, and suffering. Sorry, just speaking the facts. We who help them are the warriors of hope, as is Spencer, Geller, and Wilders with their message of truth about the violent and hateful ideology these people live for.
“Many do not know you and they are afraid,”
No, we do know them and that’s why we’re afraid. We’re fully aware of their prejudices and the ill effects their criminal “religion” has on society. It’s not a “phobia,” it’s justified fear of people who structure their whole life around a violent and ignorant superstition. Let me tell you, it takes a lot of warrior-like courage to face the hopelessness these muslims bring.
Francis said in his weekly General Audience in Saint Peter’s Square, in which he inaugurated the new project, titled “Share the Journey.”
Yes, peace and love and all that good hippie stuff. Let’s all share the journey to sharia dominated cultures with more killing and hatred for their demon god. These banal utterings do nothing to address the real threat of islam’s political jihad and religion in our midst. Three more terror attacks just today with more dead including 2 young ladies in Marseille. So yeah, share in the journey everyone, the pope sees Christ in these migrants. And no doubt the jihadists do too, that’s why they are killing us. What we have is one deluded freak doing his best to excuse the murderous acts of some other deluded freaks. Somehow I’m not inspired to tolerance, are you?

“These invading Muslims are not economic migrants”~Graven
More than half of all migrants to Europe are motivated by “economic reasons” and are not fleeing war or persecution, the vice-president of the European Commission has said.
There are many informed people that disagree with you. Of course many are economic migrants, coming from all over the Middle East to take our jobs and burden the system beyond its capacity. Most aren’t fleeing war, they come to loot our jobs and benefits and to get opportunities they could never get in their own sh*t holes. And some just come to rape our people, or build enclaves, spread sharia, and do terrorism for allah. So the whole thing ends up being an invasion of people who basically want to destroy our freedoms, our jobs, our security, and our nation. Most can’t speak the language or even care to learn it, they’ve never paid a penny in tax, they hate our culture, and they live for an ideology that declares us their enemy. They are basically parasites living for a violent political agenda they call a religion. And these are the people we’re supposed to be multicultural with. And on top of that our leaders threaten us with reprisals when we speak out about it. Muslims will never forsake their violent and delusional “religion” for us. If we don’t act now to stop the invasion and prevent the spread of their enclaves and sharia then we’ll end up a democracy in name only. In reality we’ll be like every other muslim nation, a women hating theocracy built on ignorance, fear, and oppression. It’s straight back to the middle ages for us.

Is there any mechanism within the Catholic heierchy to depose or fire an incompetent pope? This pope needs to step down. His religion is Communism. I don’t believe he even follows the teachings of Catholicism and is trying to destroy it from within

Richie,
Like Obama, this Pope has been installed to further the Globalist Agenda. He is a “change agent” and is facilitating the implementation of their agenda.
The situation is only going to get worse, not better.
“He who is prudent and lies in wait for an enemy who is not, will be victorious.”

JTLiuzza says
‘You Are Warriors of Hope’
Well he has the “warriors” part right so there’s that.
And if by “hope” he means they “hope” they will conquer the west and turn St. Peter’s into a mosque, then he’s right on both counts.
RickMT says
If this was 1943, this guy would be kissing the feet of the SS goons before they left to round up Jews and partisans.
Lou says
The Pope is a mentally-ill- global-socialist. Leaving the global socialist part out he would still be plainly mentally ill. MENTALLY ILL Pope needs to go into retirement NOW.
eduardo odraude says
Compassion must make a sincere effort to understand its object, or else the compassion involved is not real, but a counterfeit that serves only the self. The Pope is engaging in this pseudo-compassion, also known as idiot compassion. It may make him feel good inside, but in fact it reveals a terrible failure on his part to perceive that both Muslims and non-Muslims are victimized by the totalitarian cult of Islam. That grotesque failure of perception probably goes ultimately back to a insufficient compassion behind that gentle front.
katherine says
Make it short – this Poop has no compassion for Christians.
Matamoros says
They are only “warriors of hope” insofar as they bring forth from the West (Christendom) a new crusading spirit, revival of the military-religious Orders, and a rejuvenation of the Church Militant against the forces of evil.
UNCLE VLADDI says
The pope isn’t stupid – he got to be head of a majorly corrupt world organization by being a cunning liar and pandering hypocrite. He’s not innocently dumb, he’s a traitor.
Sarah says
Well, he got one thing right. They are warriors alright. Just not of ‘hope’.
Like I’d listen to the ravings of a sickening pedophile-lover in a white dress.
You are a disgrace to the Catholics of the world, Francis. You really do want to signal the total destruction of Catholic Church, huh?
Just not the destruction of the might and the power of the Vatican. You can be damn sure that he has no interest in seeing the Vatican and all its wealth and power to disintegrate.
Filthy, deceitful old man in a dress, that’s all he is.
Malon says
Why didn’t he talk, WHAT kind of hope he thinks they are?
And friends? The Koran clearly says that muslims CAN NOT be friends with “infidels”.
The pope is a traitor, a liar – one of the evilst and most wicked. Shame on him!
Let’s see what he will feel like, when he once meets God!
Beverly A Gold says
He is either the anti-christ or the one to ussher the evil one in!
RK says
if he want to preach such lunacy then he, without security/guards, should go preach his words in every “no-go” area/zone throughout the west.
Good luck and/or hang out with the police that refuse to go into these areas in their own Country…. He needs to practice what he preaches and oh ya – no more living in that gated Vatican…. He’s just another shameful politician with an agenda that never is for the good of its own people but for his own gain and/or greed – Just another “Do as I say, not as I do” mindset and nothing more!
Bill says
Now that the Pope spins Islam as a force for civility, it seems to me that the next step that Pope Francis will make is the attempt to unify Roman Catholicism and Islam. The Roman Catholic Catechism (841) states: “Together we (i.e. Roman Catholics) with them (i.e. Muslims) worship God.” That is a HUGE first step taken in the nauseating syncretism that permeates the RCC and much of Protestantism.
