As evidenced by the tragedy Wednesday in Niger, America’s Special Operations Forces remain at the tip of the spear in this long war. Our Special Operators are serving in high-risk areas of hostility such as Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Niger and over 70 other countries around the world every day.
It takes a special kind of “quiet professional” to meet the exacting standards of America’s Special Operations Forces. As this trans-generational war continues, Special Operations Forces will be facing new challenges all too frequently. In fact, there has never been a greater need for Special Operations Forces than right now. Special Operations will continue to be the force of choice, time and time again.
For the past 37 years the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) has been dedicated to honoring the sacrifice of Special Operations Personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty or are severely wounded and hospitalized as a result of wounds sustained in combat. And for the 11th consecutive year, SOWF continues to this while maintaining a 4-Star Charity Navigator rating.
Mission Statement:
The Special Operations Warrior Foundation ensures full financial assistance for a post-secondary degree from an accredited two or four-year college, university, technical, or trade school; and offers family and educational counseling, including in-home tutoring, to the surviving children of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty.
The Special Operations Warrior Foundation also provides immediate financial assistance to severely wounded and hospitalized special operations personnel.
SOWF ensures full college scholarships to the surviving children of Special Operators who die in the line of duty – to any fully accredited college or university in the nation. Financial assistance includes tuition, room and board, books, fees, computers, transportation and miscellaneous expenses.
Additionally, SOWF provides ongoing support and academic counseling to make sure every student has the opportunity to do well in school. SOWF offers professional tutoring – at no cost – to all students from kindergarten through college graduation.
The Foundation also provides immediate financial assistance to severely wounded Special Operators to allow their families to be with them in the hospital and to offset expenses associated with their injuries. SOWF delivers a $5,000 check to the wounded Special Operator’s bedside immediately following arrival in a U.S. military hospital. We also provide an iPad so that the Special Operator can keep in touch with their comrades and family.
Please consider supporting our Special Operations Forces by donating to this exceptional organization today.

Thank you for posting. Just made a donation. Very worthy cause.

Unfortunately, within an hour of making this donation, I had fraudulent transactions on my credit card and had to have the card cancelled. Very disturbing that this happened through this site.

The thing is, why do we need to sacrifice American lives in such places at all? Are we working under the assumption that we have to help the Islamic “good guys” fight the Islamic “bad guys”?
Glorious says
Agree. There should be no US troops in Africa. Period.
Chand says
There is grave danger in the future if the jihadi threat in Africa is not minimized as far as possible. Desperate humans there are at a huge risk of turning into jihadis if neglected.
Bob says
Glorious – there should be NO non-African troops in Africa at all! The Africans seem quite unable to sort out their own, mostly self-imposed problems. The truth is that they were mostly far better off as colonies!

Ya, leave them to their fate. They can’t solve their problems so #$&@ them! So they will descend further into chaos, their societies will crumble and they’ll happily be helped by the Islamists, who’ll provide them basic care, set up free clinics, schools and indoctrinate them in Jihad. Then, these suicidal killers will attack others and spread, including to the developed countries and then all will start screaming: “Oh my God, Jihad! Look! The evil Muslims! It is their evil religion and their pedophile prophet and their Satanic verses of a book! O’ evil Islam! O devil worshiping Muslims!! Didn’t we tell you. All Muslims want Jihad and want to establish Sharia!”
One of the main reasons that these Africans are in this state of drowning in their ‘self imposed problems’ is BECAUSE of colonialism, in their recent past.
No. Logic, humanism and reason says there is another way. Help them and improve their lives and keep Alqaeda and Boko Haram and such away from them so they don’t fall prey to Islamic Jihad, which will affect everyone.

It’s just a fact of life that alliances, sometimes short term, sometimes long term, have to be formed with groups, nationalities, ideologically questionable entities and so on in order to effectively fight the enemy of highest priority. The last half of WW2 was fought with Stalinist Soviet Allies and this was the right decision at the time which probably shaved off two years from the during of that war.
The main imperative in all this alliance and assistance is to learn quickly from your mistakes, reassess and reformulate approaches and levels of commitment or withdraw altogether. Special Forces need to be mobile, secretive and flexible and answerable only to the Head of State and the most senior military chiefs. They are there to be used as the fighting edge of our universal civilisation.
The Charity noted in the article looks most worthy and one hopes there are similarly caring foundations in existence in other Nations active in providing Special Forces support to developing countries.

Terrific organization; very little spent on admin and overhead, unlike some other groups. I support SOWF through charitable contributions on all of my Amazon and eBay purchases. Also in my will. Thanks JihadWatch for writing about them! De Oppresso Liber.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation aids the US forces at the tip of the spear
…………………….
As long as we have to “partner” with Muslims, there will be more killings of our brave troops.

Thanks, Colonel Martin. Hats off and humble respects to the martyrs and the Special Forces doing their jobs. Their difficult work protects the lives and limbs of innocent humans all around the world every day.
This war will continue for a while now, I’m guessing. Maybe a hundred years.
