No one should be surprised by this. Tariq Ramadan is extremely clever and sophisticated, and has fooled a great deal of the Western intelligentsia for years, but he is also a pious, believing Muslim. In Islam, it is the woman’s responsibility to cover herself and thereby remove the man’s temptation. If she fails to do so and he sexually assaults or even rapes her, it’s her fault. Moreover, according to Islamic law, a woman’s testimony is not admissible in cases of sexual crime, zina, even if she is the victim. Thus Tariq Ramadan always knew that as far as Islam went, he could deny the charges, and that would be that. And if a woman ever threatened to go to the secular courts, there were ways to deal with that as well: “Two years later he called me to a hotel in the suburbs and then threatened me that he had compromising things on me.”
“Third woman accuses Islamist thinker Tariq Ramadan of sexual harassment,” Al Arabiya, October 28, 2017 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):
A third woman has come forward and accused Islamist thinker Tariq Ramadan of allegedly sexually harassing her some years ago.
Why was nothing done then?
“Two years later he called me to a hotel in the suburbs and then threatened me that he had compromising things on me,” she added….

Is Weinstein a Muslim?
lebel says
For jihadwatch he had Muslim-like behavior.
Jihadwatch is basically stormfront against Muslims so that means:
1. Jewish guy rapes lots of women = just a bad guy
2. Non-Muslim guy rapes women = just a bad guy
3. Guy with Muslim name rapes a woman = MUSLIM acting in accordance with Islam
And so every bad thing done by anyone with a Muslim name is news on jihadwatch just like every bad thing done by a jew is news on stormfront.
Of course in this case all we have are allegations but thats enough to be guilty.

What claptrap. Of course there are non-Muslims who do repulsive things–but they are not taught to do such things by their faith, nor do they believe that they are pleasing their god if they do so.

For those unfamiliar, “Stormfront” is a vicious neo-Nazi group. lebel is pretending that opposing violent Jihad is no different from wanting to murder Jews and racial minorities.

Judaism does not teach the rape of women, nor does Christianity.
Islam does. The “Prophet” of Islam was himself a rapist, and even chided his followers for *not* raping women.
How can lebel pretend that this is not so?

Pretending that Tariq Ramadan is not Muslim, but just “has a Muslim name” is ludicrous.
He is, indeed, a spokesperson for Islam. How can lebel think we do not know this?
More:

………………………
Of course not. Actual proof of guilt–or innocence–is for the courts to decide.
But the situation is the same with Weinstein–his case has not reached the courts, either. Note that lebel did not say there should be no speculation re his guilt.
The fact is that it is not illegal to speak of or speculate about guilt or innocence in the general population.
Of course, under Shari’ah law, no Infidel may say anything negative about a Muslim–even if true, it is deemed “slander” and can be harshly punished.
Is this what the appalling lebel is demanding here?
lebel says
“Judaism does not teach the rape of women, nor does Christianity.” of course it does:
Deuteronomy 21:10-14
You just don’t care that it does (neither does anyone else on jihadwatch). Its only bad when it’s Islam whereas you have a range of explanations for judaism (it’s out of context, no one believes this anymore etc. ) ending with the “you’re an anti-semite, like all Muslims, for daring to suggest it.”
Where will you move the goalpost now?
Gil says
Well said and to the point, of course the fact that Islam considers anything negative said about it even if it’s true and written in Quran, Hadiths and Sunnah as slander and punishable by death, leaves little room for honest debate.
gravenimage says
Nice try from lebel. His pretending that it is immaterial that no Jews or Christians cite Deuteronomy as justification for rape is ridiculous.
Whereas, Muslims regularly cite the Qur’an, Hadiths, and model of the “Prophet” for raping women:

He may pretend that this negates everything I have said, but it just proves it.

lebel,
canonical hadith say Muhammad permitted his soldiers to rape captive women. See, for example,

The quote there includes a reference link so you can verify this for yourself.
TheBuffster says
I don’t agree with lebel about JihadWatch, but I will point out that the young woman alleging the abuse was a Muslim seeking religious advice from Ramadan. She was not a captive unbeliever.
gravenimage says
Buffster, Muslims rarely face any repercussions for raping Muslim women, either–more often the victim is blamed. Here is one particularly horrifying case:
“Amnesty International: ‘Woman’ stoned to death in Somalia was 13-year-old rape victim”
https://www.jihadwatch.org/2008/11/amnesty-international-woman-stoned-to-death-in-somalia-was-13-year-old-rape-victim
The rape victim could not prove it was rape in Islam without the testimony of four Muslim males–and so, her reporting the rape was taken as proof of her having had extra-marital sex–and the “crime” of Zina is punishable by the barbarism of stoning.
LeftisruiningCanada says
As more fully explained above, you are missing the point.
Jihad Watch is about monitoring and exposing the inherent evil of islam, as found in its central texts and displayed through the behavior of those who claim to be its most faithful followers.
People are fallen creatures and do bad things. Christianity stresses that point, defines bad things and tells people to do good things instead. Judaism is the written source of moral law for the west. islam denies mans fallen nature, tells its followers to call bad things good, and tell them that doing those bad things is the best way to be good.
See the difference?
carol says
Well summarized. And you have to ponder about the moral instincts of a Muslima who says their correspondence became “pornographic”. Did no alarm bells ring? Maybe she so was awed by his “piety” she just couldn’t take herself away?
A male that’s overly pushy can be one of the worst of scum. In order to avoid more mental or physical trauma the woman can easily be compromised and the jerk be rewarded in the twisted ways he loves.

In my region there were no rapes, we went out partying, the girls came home at night without a companion …. We were considered as the safest region of Spain. Now that is impossible, there are violations every month … and always the fliers are Moroccans, always. Thousands of young Magrebies have come, they are given help, home, money and education … and they rape our girls. The debate about Islamophobia and television is very common and the invited Muslims always mention that we are a decadent society from their point of view, that Muslim women do not do the things that non-Muslim women do. The message is clear … according to the Muslims the blame for the violations are the victims themselves for not being at home, for wearing too daring clothes, for not being accompanied by a boy, for drinking alcohol …. Of course the blame for the violations is on the Islamic society, they create monsters. The young Muslims come and see how the European guys relate … and deep down they want the same thing, they want to go hand in hand with a girl (without a veil), they want to have sex, have fun … but they do not know how to do it. The shit of their Islamo fascist culture represses them, on the one hand they want a girl but on the other they despise her. Of course, the fault lies with Islam.

You don’t get it. All the others who rape and sexually assault do it of their own volition having nothing to do with their religion, if they have any. Muslims do it because it’s endorsed by Islam. If a woman is an infidel and or doesn’t cover herself causes the man to get aroused and that alone is an approval and invitation for him to rape her because it says so in the Koran.

Ramadan’s in trouble in the UK just now. Lots of people are asking questions about him and metaphorically pointing the finger. It’s also conveniently unfortunate that there’s a big post-Weinstein ‘sexual harassment’ thing starting up here now with people being named and shamed and even suspended from their jobs. Perhaps they could try suspending Ramadan – Oxford has plenty of ‘dreaming spires’ that are high enough.

Tariq Ramadan has called for a moratorium on the stoning of women for adultery, if I remember right, so he can’t be all that bad. To condemn the practice all together would probably be too islamophobic – after all, he is a Muslim and when Islam has conquered the World the stoning of women could come in handy.

gravenimage says
Benedict, thanks for the links–I have seen both of these before.
Ramadan’s “moratorium” is weasely–he will not actually condemn stoning outright. His assertion that Dar-al-Islam will not actually end it may well be correct–but most of it will not likely go for a moratorium, either.
I believe this is Ramadan’s way of pretending to oppose the stoning of women to the West without having to actually do so–or to hope that there is any less of it.
His getting called out by Christiane Amanpour–often an appeaser of Islam herself–you *know* things are bad.
And I am not sullen–I don’t expect you or anyone else here to agree with me on all matters. I just take issue here with such an enabler of Islam as Ramadan being considered a real “moderate”.

Third accuser: Tariq Ramadan gave her Islamic religious advice, then sexually assaulted her
……………………..
This sounds about right. What a barbarian.
Sarah says
This one is a bit tough. And there are a whole bunch of distinctions here. First up – he’s a pig. No man has the right to rape a woman. Simple. And his attempt to bribe her into sex on the basis of having ‘compromising’ things that he could hold over her – just reinforces how much of a pig he really is.
But come on. TWO WHOLE YEARS of what she herself describes as pornographic talk….. He invites her to a hotel – she goes along – he demands sex, or else – with his happy little bribery statement.
What he did was wrong, I won’t excuse his actions, one iota.
But she is as dumb as a box of rocks. What did she think was going to happen after she spent two years engaging in ‘porno talk’ with some random man who then asked her to go to a hotel room??
He wasn’t inviting her there to have tea and biscuits and discuss the weather. And a 10 year old would understand the insinuation behind his actions. So don’t try telling me that she was somehow unaware of what his hotel invite meant.
She did not deserve to be sexually assaulted. I would never say anything different given this scenario. BUT – she is an adult and she is presumably intelligent enough to be allowed out into the world unsupervised. So she is smart enough to deal with the consequences of her actions.
And what kind of religious man – whichever religion – gives advice on how to be a good religious person – then wants pictures of you – then wants porno talk FOR TWO ENTIRE YEARS with you – and then invites you to a hotel room?
How freaking dumb is this woman? Again – she didn’t deserve to be assaulted – but COME ON. Have some accountability for your own actions! I should not have to say – DO NOT SPEND TWO YEARS ON PORNO TALK with a religious man. DO NOT go to a hotel room with him. Nothing good was ever, EVER going to come from this. And a dumbass can see how this would have all panned out.
There is so much more to this story, than meets the eye. And its women like this and their utter stupidity and their refusal to be accountable for their own choices and actions in life, who make it so fucking hard for rape victims and sexual assault victims around the world, to get appropriate justice.
gravenimage says
It is true that she is an idiot at best, Sarah. She was being blackmailed, though–not bribed.
TheBuffster says
But she was the one who gave Ramadan the material with which to blackmail her by engaging in the porno talk.
No, it does not excuse this sleazy bastard one freckle. If he set her up this way, that’s the act of a crooked slimeball.
I have to say that while reading her story it didn’t ring true to me, though. I find it difficult to believe she was thick enough to engage in sex talk with a pious Muslim after going to him for religious advice. You’d think she’d be repelled and wonder what the heck was wrong with him.
I note, however, that she did take a chaperone when she went to meet with him.
This is not to say that I think she’s lying, but that I’m very cautious in believing her.
None of us respect Tariq Ramadan here, it’s true. But even he can be unjustly set up.
And even if he *has* actually assaulted women, sometimes once one case goes public other women come forward who have their own reasons – sometimes sick reasons – for wanting to get in on the attention and the sympathy awarded to victims of sexual assault.
Life – and justice – can be complicated.
I’m always saying “Let’s take our time and wait for the whole story to come out.” That’s a good idea whether it’s someone you already respect or someone you already don’t. That’s being objective.
Even creeps can be accused of things they didn’t do.
gravenimage says
This is true, Buffster. But the accusations are mounting up…
Sarah says
Sorry Graven, Blackmail. 🙂
Let’s be real here though, guys. Blackmail is only a crime to fear if you allow it. Firstly, whoever is the Blackmailer, they are breaking the law and providing immediate proof of their crime that can be used against them in order to protect one’s self.
Secondly, a Blackmailer only has power if you allow the Blackmailer to have power. Now short of this woman being some kind of terror-plotting, child molesting super-villain – what could he have had on her that would have been so truthfully life and soul destroying, if it got out?
He had something – probably those pictures – and she in turn, aside from going straight to the Police to have him charged for breaking the law – as well as an AVO – and as well as threatening him with a lawsuit that given his public profile, would ruin him – could also remove his power over her, by simply turning around, if and when he ever used those pictures against her to slander her- to point out that he would never have had them, if he didn’t request them and from his position of authority, abused his positioning to begin with.
Mind you, in fairness, I’m a woman who is hyper conscious of consequences for actions – and more then stubborn enough to burn the world to the ground over the principle of the matter. I would make a terrible victim of Blackmail, LOL. If he tried that with me (and he’d never get the pictures, nor the 2 years of porno talk from me to begin with) – I’d simply grit my teeth, batten down the hatches, call his bluff and then go to absolute war with the coward if he tried to expose me.
He’s a bully. Bullies are, to a one, pathetically insecure and weak creatures at the end of the day. You have to show them you are stronger – and prepared to go all the way. They crumble, every single damn time.
She is a fool, in my view, for every single one of her actions right up til today. And based on the information provided, which is admittedly rather brief and incomplete – I fail to see her accepting any accountability at any point along the way for her involvement in this. None of this excuses him in any way, shape or form – but I’m done with giving grown adults, a free ride on the consequences of their actions. Real life just doesn’t work that way – and getting a free pass doesn’t protect you from still suffering the consequences that people like her are too gutless to face up to.
There’s absolutely a chance that he is being set up – solely because stranger things can happen! But I sincerely doubt that this animal is truly innocent. Even if she is lying through the skin of her teeth – and I believe she is being deceptive here, to some degree at least – I still feel very confident at this point, that Ramadan is up to his ears in perversity, misogyny and general Islamic scum dwelling.
I just find it all absurdly and patently ridiculous. She was a young girl. He was a grown man in a position of authority. She had proof of him preying on her and of BLACKMAILING her. And instead of using her backbone, she quivered away to a quiet corner. Until years later when for some reason, she decided now was the time to speak her story. Something is simply, very off with all of this.
gravenimage says
Agreed, Sarah.
Muslims would hold her solely responsible, though–often with shaming or even violent consequences–that is probably what she was afraid of.
