UK minister: “Only way of dealing” with ISIS jihadis “will be, in almost every case, to kill them”

At last, some common sense in the UK, where “the independent reviewer of terrorism legislation,” Max Hill, wants to “reintegrate” the poor, “naive” Islamic State jihadis. Stewart, by contrast, is correct: “”These are people who have essentially moved away from any kind of allegiance towards the British Government. They are absolutely dedicated, as members of the Islamic State, towards the creation of a caliphate, they believe in an extremely hateful doctrine which involves killing themselves, killing others and trying to use violence and brutality to create an eighth century, or seventh century, state.”

Why is that so hard to understand?

“‘The only way’ of dealing with British Islamic State fighters is to kill them in almost every case, minister says,” by Kate McCann, Telegraph, October 22, 2017:

British Isil fighters should be killed in Syria rather than be allowed to return to UK, a Government minister has said. Rory Stewart said converts who leave Britain to fight for the terror group are guilty of horrific acts and the only way of dealing with them is to kill them “in almost every case”.

His remarks come just days after the independent reviewer of terrorism legislation Max Hill QC said young people who travelled to Syria after being “brainwashed” should be allowed to come home and rejoin society.

Mr Hill told the BBC that it was not worth losing a generation of young people who “naively” went to join Isil before attempting to come back to the UK.

Asked by BBC Radio 5 Live’s John Pienaar if they had “brought on themselves what they are about to get?”, he said: “These are people who have essentially moved away from any kind of allegiance towards the British Government.

“They are absolutely dedicated, as members of the Islamic State, towards the creation of a caliphate, they believe in an extremely hateful doctrine which involves killing themselves, killing others and trying to use violence and brutality to create an eighth century, or seventh century, state.

“So I’m afraid we have to be serious about the fact these people are a serious danger to us, and unfortunately the only way of dealing with them will be, in almost every case, to kill them.”

Around half of the estimated 850 Britons believed to have gone to join the extremists are now believed to be back in the UK….

Mr Stewart’s comments come after the defence secretary Michael Fallon said earlier this month that anyone who chooses to leave the UK to fight for the Islamic State runs the risk of being killed.

Mr Fallon said: “If you are a British national in Iraq or Syria and if you have chosen to fight for [Isis] – an illegal organisation that is preparing and inspiring terror attacks on our streets – then you have made yourself a legitimate target and you run the risk every hour of every day of being on the wrong end of an RAF or a United States missile.”

Mr Hill, who called for former Isil fighters to be allowed to reintegrate back into the UK, was supported by Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell, who sits on the Commons foreign affairs committee.

He said: “The presumption should be that all people who went to join IS should be dealt with by the criminal justice system unless there is a good reason why not.

“IS is an utterly barbaric organisation still intent on carrying out terror attacks in Britain and everything possible must be done to stop its supporters being involved in such atrocities.”

But Mr Stewart said converts to the terror group believed in an “extremely hateful doctrine”, saying fighters can expect to be killed given the threat they pose to British security….

  2. Rory Stewart before becoming an MP was second in command of an area of Iraq after the second battle / war to remove Sadam.
    He then walked some 2,000 miles or so? round the area up into Afghanistan, speaks their language, and understands their customs and ways.
    He speaks the truth also in this being the only way to deal with terrorists who want the West dismantled.
    I have met Rory Stewart a few times, good bloke.

      Even more importantly, this phrase explains the powerful alliance between Islam and Marxists/leftists: the Left also wants our free western societies dismantled.

    • Rory Stewart learned about Islam from Muslims by living in their homes and walking 6,000 miles through Muslim territories.

      WIKI: From 2000 to 2002 he travelled on foot through rural districts of Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, India and Nepal, a journey totalling around 6000 miles, during which time he stayed in five hundred different village houses.

      He later travelled into Libya a day after the fall of Colonel Gaddafi. He has also written about theory and practice of travel writings in prefaces to Thesiger’s Arabian Sands, Doughty’s Arabia Deserta and Byron’s The Road to Oxiana.

      His first book, The Places in Between, was an account of his 32-day solo walk across Afghanistan in early 2002. It was a New York Times best-seller, was named one of the New York Times 10 notable books in 2006 and was hailed by the NYT as a “flat-out masterpiece”.

    • Thank you Stuart Smith. We need 1,000 more politicians like Rory Stewart and we can turn the ship around.

      He is perhaps one of a handful in the Westminster parliament who understands the MUSLIM MINDSET and understands how firmly it is held in place.

      However, that being said, Islam cannot sustain a determined and relentless campaign of deprogramming from the West if only Western people could understand that.

      Islam is ready to fall if given a very hard ideological push.

      • I don’t think so. I don’t think we can “deprogram” Muslims fast enough to save ourselves.

        We couldn’t deprogram the Nazis, before we utterly defeated them in open warfare. And there’s every reason to believe that Muslims, on the whole, will be more difficult to deprogram than Nazis, who were only concerned with this life and this world.

Rory Stewart is realistic about the complete dedication of someone who reads the PRIMARY TEXTS of Islam, including the life of Mohammed, believes in them and then acts upon those beliefs with absolute certainty. How can one unlearn what one ‘knows’ to be true or ‘repent’ of doing Allah’s will? Rory Stewart understands that jihad is a sacred duty and a sacrament for Muslims greater than a combination of baptism, confirmation and holy communion for Christians.

    Rory Stewart’s idea of hanging all the war criminals is no longer possible since the abolition of hanging. However, it is possible to kill Islamic faith through ABSOLUTE DEPROGRAMMING which introduces so many SUBSTANTIAL DOUBTS into the minds of jihadists that they are no longer able to place the same absolute faith in Islam. Only governments can perform absolute deprogramming because of the risk of assassination of the deprogrammers. An example of such a deprogrammer is Hamid Samad of Germany who has memorized the Koran and has meticulously dissected the anomalies and moral absurdities in the Koran and hadiths. I encourage everyone to view his complete set of 42 videos, A BOX OF ISLAM. THAT is ‘absolute deprogramming’.

    • I started watching this but frankly didn’t have the time to carry on. I’m sure it’s excellent, but (a) where’s the guarantee that it’s going to work, especially if the subject for deprogramming doesn’t want to be deprogrammed (as is always the case with any psychological treatment) and (b) why should we in the West have to go to all this trouble and expense with individuals on our territories who simply don’t/don’t want to fit in, when there is frankly no need or justification for these people to be here in the first place?

        What happened to wanting to become part of that society that is already in place, rather then changing it into where you came from.

      • Jayell, if you please, what happens in a court room when a lawyer introduces facts that are DAMNING but that are not 100% admissible? The judge will usually say, “THE JURY WILL DISREGARD THAT EVIDENCE.” However, the jury CANNOT FORGET the evidence. The jury’s certainty is shattered by a SUBSTANTIAL DOUBT. In ABSOLUTE DEPROGRAMMING (and in juries) the important matter is to introduce SUBSTANTIAL DOUBT. Once SUBSTANTIAL DOUBT is introduced into the mind of a Muslim, he cannot be an full-hearted jihadist. The fervor is gone. The doubt remains, chafes and intensifies. Slowly, Muslims with SUBSTANTIAL DOUBT migrate away from Islam and quietly drop out of it.

    • Mortimer, you keep claiming that “ABSOLUTE DEPROGRAMMING” works like a charm, yet have never produced any evidence that this has ever worked. Why would Muslims listen to the “filthy Infidels”?

      Also, your implication that Muslims embrace reason and logic and hence would be open to any criticism of Islam is not borne out by actual Muslim behavior.

      • Dear gravenimage, No, I have never said, ‘WORKS LIKE A CHARM’ or words like that nor would I suggest that absolute deprogramming will penetrate all skulls. It will certainly INTRODUCE SUBSTANTIAL DOUBT into the minds of Muslims to the point that they will slowly cease to have certainty about carrying out terrorist acts. Once substantial doubt is introduced, a Muslim becomes less active and moves towards secularism.

        Why do you suppose that professional police negotiators try to reason with those who threaten to blow themselves up and hostages? They do so every day and are often successful in introducing doubt and reason. Professional deprogramming has not been tried on any jihadists to my knowledge for fear no doubt of offending the human right of believing in a homicidal death cult. In order to satisfy our concern for human rights, absolute deprogramming must be voluntary and offered as a voluntary means of reducing a jail sentence.

        Sigmund Freud said that some considered reason to be a weak voice, but after many repeated rebukes it receives a hearing. There are many Muslims today who REASONED THEMSELVES OUT OF ISLAM.

        There is so much wrong with Islam textually, morally and historically, that is certainly not of divine origin. It is glaringly obvious when Islam is examined methodically.

        It is easy to criticize something that is essential to stop jihad which has not yet been tried in situ. In fact, Muslims are watching videos every day and many are saying that the videos helped them to doubt and leave Islam. We already know that voluntary deprogramming works on Muslims.

      • gravenimage, before you judge ABSOLUTE DEPROGRAMMING, watch the complete 42 videos of Hamed Abdel Samad (“A BOX OF ISLAM”) and ask yourself if you think they would not STRONGLY CHALLENGE the thoughts of a jihadist. I believe if you do so, you will gain conviction that such reason- and fact-based deprogramming is very hopeful.

        Hamed Abdel Samad speaking quietly, surely and confidently in Arabic explains the Koran (which he memorized) and the hadiths with scholarly precision! His conclusions are hard to resist to a modern sophisticated person as most jihadists are…having attended higher education.

        Samad dissects the arguments of the mullahs and sheds light on Mohammed’s psychological motives, his quirks, his inconsistencies and the motives of his enemies. He highlights the anomalies and strange discrepancies in the texts that show that early Islam was a tentative work in progress and not a finalized done deal as modern Muslims wrongly assume. Once assumption are blown to smithereens, Muslims have to face the facts or stop thinking entirely… which they cannot do. Don’t assume they are not riddled with doubts.

        • Watch 42 videos of someone claiming to do what seems generally to be considered impossible? With no possible way of verifying whether they have worked or not? No thank you.

          What the Government needs to do is simply ban Islam on the grounds that it is a violent, brainwashing cult that poses a huge threat not just to Britain but to the whole of humanity. All mosques should be demolished, all Imams deported, severe penalties put in place for preaching or practising Islam, and no new Muslim immigration permitted.

          Then, hopefully, the next generation of Muslims in Britain will grow up without the brainwashing, and can be encouraged to be normal. The present crop, without the constant 24/7 programming from the mosques, can be left to sit about mindlessly collecting welfare till they die.

    • Would that all American politicians were as intelligent and wise as Jefferson and Adams who went straight to the source and LISTENED to the jihadist messages INTENSELY and absorbed them, rather than dismissing the jihad doctrine as nonsense as modern politicians do.

      JIHAD IS THE GREATES DEED IN ISLAM, having a stronger sacramental value for Muslims than ALL of the Christian sacraments combined have for Christians.

      JIHAD is the peerless value of values for Muslims and what they most admire and aspire to, if only theoretically.

Predictably, we’ve had all the comments about the unacceptability of British forces/agents killing ‘British citizens’ – blithely ignoring the fact that it’s already been pointed out that these people have effectively forgone their right to British citizenship. During WW2 they would have been at least interned, maybe even executed as traitors.

      There has been the same hand-wringing in the US over droning Muslims who have inveigled US citizenship.

      • GI, Wikipedia has an interesting article on “hostis humani generis” Latin for “enemy of all mankind”. I may not be alone in wondering why terrorists on land and in the air, who do not care who they kill, are or should be treated the same as pirates on sea. My understanding is that pirates abandon any claim of citizenship to any country by engaging in their actions, those attacks much more like war than ordinary crime. I still believe that when a person leaves a country to join a warring force that fights against the country left behind, all claims of citizenship are waived and abandoned; making the person a non-citizen of any country and subject to the justice of all. Treason in the US is defined as levying war against the US or giving aid and comfort to an enemy in time of war, by the Constitution itself: The only crime so enumerated in the Constitution.

        Whether the declaration war is the deceptive “authorization for use of military force” or a “declaration of war” I believe the 2 terms are legally synonymous. Such legislation should impose the same duties. But the US Constitution only applies in the US. And, even here it is subject to doubt, defiance and violation.

    First off, Mr. Hill, we would not be losing a generation of young people. We would only be losing the a$$h•|€$ who preferred islamic values over British values strongly enough to fight for those values against British law. I think the larger (for the moment) portion of this generation of British youth would never dream of joining Isil, and it’s these youth who need to be protected from these aspiring jihadi a$$h•|€$. it is very disturbing, Mr. Hill, that you think losing a few of these jihadis is tantamount to losing a generation.

    Next off, Mr. Hill, they are not “naive”, they’re killers or wannabe killers.

      Max Hill QC gives as one of his reasons to allow returning jihadis to come back to Britain that to do otherwise would result in a “lost generation”.
      What an appalling argument from a supposedly educated man.

      If Mr Hill would visit the British War Graves cemeteries around Europe and the rest of the world he would see thousand upon thousand of graves which represent the lost generation of brave young British men who died defending our country. That is our lost generation.

      To call a few hundred disloyal and treasonous “citizens” of this country, who chose to join ISIS and indulge in a blood soaked orgy of murder, rape and unparalleled savagery and aggression towards the UK, deserving of a welcome home to our country can only be the argument of a leftwing/Marxist or deranged individual.

  10. He’s quite right, not least because nobody knows how to rehabilitate jihadis. Barring the odd person who has rehabilitated themselves, the rehabilitation programmes that have been tried have all failed miserably, viz. in France and Saudi Arabia.

  11. To have his voice more important that “government minister” should do everything in his power to remove his current chief, Prime Minister May, from office. Otherwise this is like wolf’s hauling in the desert. And I am afraid, as a consequence, that Ms. May will soon scrap him from her cabinet for voicing such dissent and that will be end of reason within ranks of British government.

    • A hero is one who speaks the truth no matter the consequence. Rory Steward seems to be such a person, in the mould of a Winston Churchill, who has lived the reality and gained the experience of actually being on the ground and getting to know the people and the culture.

      His warning and advice cannot be ignored, even by those who are wilfully blind to the dangers of allowing Jihadi’s to go back to the UK, and although he will pay a political price in the short term, he will be found to be correct and his future will be successful in other fields of endeavour.

      The man is typical of the consumate special forces attitude of never back down and never give up or compromise your integrity. He is a survivor and a hero in the fight against Radical Islamic Jihad.

  13. Mr. Stewart is the real deal and a man who has “been there and done that” and can speak with the wisdom of the sage. His accurate and very common sense approach to dealing with Jihadi fighters and wanna be’s is refreshing to hear from one in government.

  22. Islam is an ideology that is perpetuated through the teaching of the Koran in Mosques.

    Unless the Koran and the Mosques are destroyed, there will be no permanent victory. A more acceptable suggestion would be to destroy a mosque, taken randomly, every time somebody is killed by a terrorist attack. That will give the mosques an opportunity to report terrorist activities if they wish to stay open.
