Here is Ann Coulter on my new book Confessions of an Islamophobe:
Don’t want to get run down by a truck on a New York street by a maniac screaming “Allahu akbar”? Object to polygamy and female genital mutilation? You must be an Islamophobe. Whether you are a dedicated Islamophobe or merely Islamophobia-curious, Robert Spencer’s brilliant new book is for you! Confessions of an Islamophobe will convince all but the clinically insane that Islamophobia is at least as virtuous as the media’s all-consuming Nazi-phobia — and somewhat more urgent.

Charles! You modern day, high tech Crusader you! Does your college have a Crusader Chapel and Armory? Maybe you can establish one. If you find that the local branch of the MSA decide to leave then maybe you can use that newly vacated space for this purpose.
I actually think that a Crusader Chapel and Armory would improve Stanford University. It would certainly improve the academic level. I think a good place for it would be in the Encina Hall. I hear the offices of the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies is right nearby. And if they decide to vacate then there will be all the more room for the Armory and Chapel. (All they really do is teach teachers how to indoctrinate young children in the Mohammadan ways and we don’t really need that.) In that lovely old building the acoustics would add to the Crusader’s joyful plagal singing.
BTW, Charles is an excellent name for a Crusader. There is much proud history in the name.

After finishing up checking out the black lady in front of me who may have also been from Semolina (because they were friendly) but in American clothes. Suddenly the checker picked up the grocery divider from the conveyer belt, which was a very thick heavy solid piece of plastic, she reared her arm back over her shoulder and threw it toward me where it slammed down on the conveyer belt only 1″ from me.

I don’t understand why islamophobia exclusively is treated as a fear infidels supposedly suffer from, when fear perfectly well could explain the grip Islam has on the mind of Muslims indoctrinated, as they are, with the punishment for apostasy here on earth and hell in the hereafter and the additional missing out on the heavenly brothel and all its pleasures?
Is it not this fear, that is conducive to the horrific acts of terror we witness on a daily basis combined with the idea that man by following a law can achieve the grace of a god, who’s main delight is to punish his own creation? And is this fear not the prototype of all fears, and in this connection, appropriately named islamophobia?
The misery of Muslims, and other unbelievers, is their rejection of the Gospel — and misery loves company.
revereridesagain says
Um, not to contradict your completely valid poinst about Islam, but the “Gospel” also promises punishment for not believing in its god here on earth and hell in the hereafter. No brothels, of course, because the Gospel God doesn’t allow (even married) sex in heaven. Dirty, you know. Jesus and his Mom would have nothing to do with such a thing.
Before you cast that first stone, be sure you’re not standing too close to those big plate glass windows in your own house.
boakai ngombu says
” … but the “Gospel” also promises punishment for not believing in its god here on earth and hell in the hereafter… ”
confused, you are, and dangerously so. the GOSPEL informs about FORGIVENESS and RECONCILIATION that God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) has worked; the Holy Spirit would even work FAITH (a God-given gift) to adhere to that, with knowledge they are loved by the One who certainly is offended, even by you and me.
those who don’t or won’t avail themselves of faith will suffer consequences, according to the One Righteous God, who is also fair. He would save you from your rebellious self.
this is not like the allah god of islam (unknowable; the best of all deceivers) who enslaves it’s followers to the turmoil of their lack of righteousness … using it’s exemplar, Muhammad (lately contrived; full of lusts; having no compassion)… seeks to destroy all that God has wrought through faith in Jesus (Savior, Lord).
JawsV says
I think you should can your BS “revere” and go join the Mohammedans and Islam. I also think you shouldn’t presume about “Jesus and His Mom.” You know nothing.
eduardo odraude says
revereridesagain,
Even supposing that both Christianity and Islam are pure tissues of fantasy, one can still recognize that the Christian paradigm leads to open societies, whereas the Islamic paradigm leads in a totalitarian direction. Christianity is a key source of the human rights we all enjoy today. As Douglas Murray points out, many non-religious scholars now acknowledge that the Enlightenment and secularism have their roots in the Judeo-Christian belief system. For example, the central figure portrayed in the New Testament says to “Give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, to God the things that are God’s,” and also, “My kingdom is not of this world.” Such statements and others by that central figure brought it about that even from the very beginning of Christianity there was a recognition of two distinct social domains. It took many centuries to develop clarity about where the separation between “temporal” and “spiritual” should be. Consequently, at some points in history, the State tried to dominate the Church, while during other historical phases, the Church tried to dominate the State, but in Christian societies the recognition always remained, at least latently, that there were supposed to be two distinct realms, even if it was not clear where the division was supposed to be. And that heritage of social dualism was a key factor in the eventual creation of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. There are other elements of the biblical paradigm that have been critical to the evolution of democracy — for example, the brilliant historian Stephen Morillo, who is neither Christian nor Jewish, writes that an aspect of the Bible permitted the breakdown of European feudalism and the evolution of a freer social order. Specifically, Morillo points to the fact that both the Hebrew and Christian scriptures are based on the concept of a covenant, or contract, between God and human beings. In part because of that, the relation between lords and serfs, as despotic as it often was, was conceived as a kind of contract, not as a master slave relationship. As a contractual relationship, there was an at least implied equality, and with that the possibility of eventual transformation. Constitutional governance itself derives in part from the contractual paradigm (the old and new covenants) of the Bible.
Even if Christianity and Islam are fantasies, key contrasts between the two systems are relevant to the formation of open vs. closed societies: for example, the Qur’an explicitly denies that Allah is a father or has any sons: Muslims are conceived as nothing more than Allah’s servants or slaves. Whereas the Judeo-Christian paradigm conceives God as “Father” and human beings as his children. The great historian Daniel Boorstin pointed out that it was partly for that reason, that in Islam, for a human being, “to create is a rash and dangerous act.” Creativity is for Allah alone. Whereas the Bible clearly tells human beings, as God’s children, to imitate the creative activity of the Father God at the beginning of the world: “be fruitful and multiply.” Boorstin also points out that the Qur’an explicitly rejects the Biblical account of creation. The Qur’an tells us that Allah needed no rest on the seventh day of creation, because Allah did not have to work to create the world, he only needed to command things to be, and they began to exist. Whereas the Judeo-Christian God is portrayed in the Bible as engaging in creative work for six days and resting on the seventh — a pattern that, again, God’s children were to imitate. Boorstin sums up the situation by saying that with the Qur’anic God, the emphasis is on command, fiat, whereas for the Judeo-Christian God, commands take second place to creative activity. Boorstin explains all this in a very short chapter in his great work about Western civilization, The Creators.
So, revereridesagain, even if Islam and Christianity should prove in the end both to be nothing more than purest fantasies, you are dead wrong to equate the two. Apparently, unreligious people are sometimes so uninterested in religion that they treat it the way racists treat people of a different race: “They all look alike.” But they don’t, and it is just ignorance to say that they do.
And there is another problem with your position. As Douglas Murray points out, an irreligious or unspiritual stance, by definition can provide no absolute or transcendent justification for human rights and the values that make liberal democracies and Western civilization what they are. If you don’t believe in any ultimates, you have a weak basis to motivate people to defend your civilization from another civilization that rejects human rights and the sacredness of the individual. Whereas someone who believes in Judaism or Christianity believes in an absolute, transcendent source for those values. However if, revereridesagain, you do claim to have ultimates, then it is you who live in a glass house while throwing stones at others.
So it is a mistake to attack Christian allies in the struggle against Islam. The war cannot be won without all hands cooperating.
TheBuffster says
Eduardo, I agree with almost everything you say above, except for the Douglass Murray quote, “an irreligious or unspiritual stance, by definition can provide no absolute or transcendent justification for human rights and the values that make liberal democracies and Western civilization what they are.”
Without going into any depth here, because I’m very sleepy tonight, I’m not a believer in a god, but I know a few things about what a human mind needs if it’s to maintain a love of life and live in a healthy, happy way. First, a mind has to keep itself honest and realize that in order to get at the truth it has to question and test and *work*, while refusing to evade any fact or fool itself in any way. It has to shun no question, and be willing to face facts, whether pleasant or otherwise. It has to be willing to recognize contradictions and be ready to re-think when it discovers errors, and to make every effort in this pursuit. It’s an ongoing, lifelong dedication.
A mind should place nothing above it’s own honesty, for the purpose of constructive living. And since every mind has to do this job actively, for itself, it needs to be free from the violent threats and from the fraud of others, to deal with other people through honest, non-coercive means.
I don’t understand the need for a belief in a god in order to see the necessity and the absoluteness of the principles that enable human beings to live good lives and to build a legal system and a culture that upholds those values. Reality itself is absolute, and if we don’t live according to the principles that allow us to look at reality first hand with honesty and reason, then our societies will disintegrate into tyrannies, slavery, and poverty.
That’s quite enough to motivate me to love liberty/individual rights and to work and fight for them.
Now I suppose you could call that a “spiritual” position. In fact, I consider it to be that – spiritual without being mystical or dependent on a belief in a deity, because it deals with what a human being needs in order to be moral and self-respecting in the deepest sense. It’s a necessity for nourishing the best of the human spirit.
But I agree with you about the value of Christianity and the profound difference between it and Islam.
There’s another thing in the Old Testament that I think is important. Some of the Old Testament people argued with God. Sometimes they convinced God to change his mind about something. You’ll never find such a thing in the Koran. You don’t question Allah. *Any* doubt or disagreement with Allah is kufr – disbelief – and deserving of Allah’s hatred.
Bible stories have a lot to them. They’re rich with symbolism with a lot to think about, whether you believe in a god or not and whether you agree with everything in them or not.
I’ve read the Koran. I read it slowly with my husband and we discussed it as we read. A painful and repetitive experience, but we got through it.
The stories have no depth. The Bible stories recounted in it are mere sketches that basically all teach the same thing: in the past, peoples rejected messengers of Allah and were destroyed.
The whole Koran is one big threat against anyone who wants to keep his mind honest, ask all the questions he can find in a thing, and get down to the truth for himself. It essentially damns to hell anyone who insists on maintaining the virtue of honesty and who therefore finds Muhammad’s lame fallacies laughable and dares to laugh. Or even just dares to ask a challenging question.
All such people are damned to hell in the Meccan section of the Koran, and then they effing get theirs once Muhammad has enough wealth and soldiers to be able to wreak his revenge against all those who made fun of him.
The spirit of the book brims with contempt and hatred of those who fail to believe. Fairly early on we get a horrific vision of hell, with the residents of Paradise being entertained by looking into hell and jeering and mocking the poor tortured slobs who failed to believe Muhammad. This is a heavenly reward for the believers. Not my idea of a matured and benevolent spirituality. I don’t recall Jesus offering his followers any such enticing perks.
I’m convinced that the profound differences between Christianity and Islam are crucial to explain why individual rights with freedom of speech and press and religion and the Western type of rule of law developed in a country with a Jewish/Christian/Hellenic background and not under Islam.
Benedict says
The Gospel was not spread by the sword using threats and intimidation.
The Gospel can be reduced to two words: Fear not!
The Gospel is the antidote to fear because “fear has to do with punishment, …” and the Gospel has to do with forgiveness and divine love, and you reject it to your own harm.
Even a person who enters the Kingdom of God without proper clothing is called a *friend* before he is thrown out into the outer darkness, that’s how incompatible fear is with the Gospel: even to the extent that the word *enemy* doesn’t exist within its domain. (Matthew 22:12)
In Islam there is no gospel; ultimately its only means of persuasion is fear and terror because that’s what Muslims have received, and that’s what Muslims pass on as well to their friends as to their enemies.

Benedict, you & so many other intelligent, right-minded contributors herein are the reason I have not given up hope–this space of reason, reality & a healthy survival instinct are so badly needed all over the U.S. & what’s left of the West. Yes, the problem is with the evil, insane dictates & pseudo-doctrines of Islam, & the only reason it has persisted for so many centuries is the inbreeding spawned by any rigidly closed, paranoid & deluded society. Mohammed boasted that he was visited by an angel in the desert to reveal Allah & inspire him with the concocted nightmare that is Islam–if there truly is a devil prowling the earth it was the monster that whispered in Mohammed’s ear, but in reality it was just the latter’s greed & opportunism that inspired him on that atavistic path. We in West would not be living the current & recurring nightmare of widespread random terror if it weren’t for betrayal of the Crusades by the greedy Venetians. In addition, over the centuries & even now huge numbers of human beings in Muslim-controlled countries have been doomed never to realize their full human potential in lives stunted by the sickening dictates of Islam.

POTUS Don Trump, is a gift in time, for America, against a central controlling government of evil globalists (with federalists), typified by nearly all democrats, a true enemy to the sovereignty of the Liberty, and responsibility, of each individual, anywhere, anytime, as laid out in our Declaration of Independence, and our Constitution, and amendments..

Allah is hate spreader and Islamic text is doctrine of hate
Koran 40:35 “They [kafirs] who dispute the signs (verses) of Allah without authority having reached them are greatly hated by Allah and the believers (mohammden).” (Note: not just “hated”, but “greatly hated”.)
If Allah hates, then a Muslim should hate, as well. This hate is not due to moral failings. No, a kafir is hated for the simple reason that the kafir does not think that Mohammed is a prophet. [If Mohammed is not a prophet, then the Koran is fiction, and Islam is meaningless.] In the Sira( Mohammed’slife/biography) we find that Islam destroys cultured, wise people of high moral standards because they do not believe Mohammed. It is not personal; it is simply Islam.
Examples: “Christian cannot eat in Muslim owned restaurant, schools, colleges, office buildings nor they can drink water in same glasses which is worst kind of hate on religion in Pakistan but this new trend of prohibition on use of toilets in schools is inexpressible in words.”

Ann Coulter’s comments are as usual very apposite. There is one point that should be made in the context of the current hysteria, concerning alleged right wing plots, coming from most western news outlets. Nazism or – to give it its correct name National Socialism rather than the Churchillian diminutive term – was a coherent political doctrine which legitimised barbarism and a state of permanent war. For that reason- the true believers in that ideology embraced Islam as a natural ally. Anyone who is a genuine believer in the ideology of National Socialism must be an Islamophile, as was Hitlerr and the entire hirearchy of the National Socialist and German Worker’s Party. Heinrich Himmler opined that between National Socialism and Islam there was no significant difference. Not only was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem the personal house guest of Adolph Hitler throughout WWll but by 1944, 3 divisions of the Waffen SS and 13 motorized infantry brigades of the Abwehr where wholly or largely Muslim. There were more Muslims serving in the Wehrmacht than there are total services peronnel in the modern British armed forces. Although, I consider that National Socialism as a coherent political ideology died in 1945 with the defeat of Hitler, there are signs of a tentative resurgence of National Socialist thinking on the left wing of the British Labour Party-where else!! And Hitler’s memory continues to be revered amongst large sections of the public in Islamic countries.
