Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that after decades of being under the control of “anti-Christian, internationalist powers” the country needs a government “based on the teachings of Christ” which “made Europe and the Hungarians great”.
The indomitable Hungarian leader Viktor Orban resolutely proclaims and advocates for Europe’s history and legacy of human rights and democracy, without apology and without fear of being branded an “Islamophobe.” Note that he does not exclude other faiths and cultures, but he will nonetheless likely (and wrongly) be branded a bigot.
“Hungary: Governments Should Be ‘Dedicated to Christian Values’ that Made Europe Great”, by Victoria Friedman, Breitbart, November 1, 2017:
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that after decades of being under the control of “anti-Christian, internationalist powers” the country needs a government “based on the teachings of Christ” which “made Europe and the Hungarians great”.
Speaking at a celebratory event marking the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the conservative Fidesz party leader said that it was a duty of his government to protect “the ways of life that have their roots in Christianity”, including human dignity, the family, the nation, and faith communities, adding that Christian Europe needs a spiritual and intellectual renewal.
After decades of oppression under Communist rule, the Hungarians’ emergence from the collapsed Soviet Empire led them to look to their Christian heritage to frame their constitution which begins: “God bless the Hungarians!”
Mr. Orbán told crowds assembled for the anniversary: “We are grateful that the nation has united its strength, regained its feet and strengthened, […] that it has regained its vitality, its capacity for action and the desire to do great things.”
Making pointed remarks conveying his government’s scepticism of progressive doctrine, he added: “We are grateful that, instead of letting the current carry it, [Hungary] has chosen a cardinal point of the compass and a lodestar, it has charted a course, and it is creating a route for its own life.”
Alluding to the country’s defiance against interference from open-borders campaigner George Soros and the European Union, the prime minister added that “although we need to stand in the way of major forces – even global forces – we can still stand, and we are still standing on our feet”.
Hungary is being assailed by the EU over the country’s stand on the bloc’s forced migrant relocation plans, and its new legal measures for greater transparency of foreign influenced charities and universities – the latter two directly affecting the interests of the billionaire speculator Soros, whose plans to flood the continent with one million migrants a year is believed by the Hungarian government to be directly influencing the EU’s migration policy.
“We are fighting and praying together so that God may bless the Hungarian people,” said the prime minister in closing remarks. “God save Hungary! Soli Deo Gloria [Glory to God alone].”
Last month, fellow former Soviet satellite state Poland celebrated another important date in Christian history, with the Catholic Feast of the Holy Rosary that marked the anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto where “the Christian fleet overcame the Muslim armada, saving Europe from Islamisation”…..
R Russell says
God bless you sir for stating the obvious.
May God direct Europe into a Christian revival to include our newcomers or Christianity will be a thing of the past in Europe and we will be forced to convert to Islam or die.

As the agnostic I am, I applaud this man because the teachings of Jesus are infinitely preferable to the teachings of Mohammed (and deep shame on the Islamic world for appropriating Jesus as one of their own, but then appropriation of others’ achievements is definitely one of many mendacious and parasitical features of Mohammedanism).
Rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition is a respect for the individual human being in this world, accompanied as it is by a true Golden Rule for all (and thus this feature works wonderfully well with true democratic tenets). By contrast, Islam overwhelmingly demonstrates the same control-freak nature of all totalitarian systems (e.g., Nazism), to wit, you are part of the “us” or you are part of the “them.” If the latter, then IN THIS WORLD you are deserving of, at best, second-class status; at worst, death.
By now, if one cannot see that Islam is a belief system that crushes dissent IN THIS WORLD per its theological blueprint, contra what is contained in the Christian and Judaic theological blueprint, then such a person is an ignoramus at best, something far worse at worst.

“appropriating Jesus as one of their own” —
That might sound almost benign, until one discovers that the Qur’an denies the three central tenets of Christianity and recasts Jesus in the image of a Muslim, that is, in the image of someone constantly slavishly bowing to God conceived in the image of the worst earthly despot. As for the three central tenets of Christianity, the Qur’an explicitly states that 1) God has no son, Jesus was just a prophet; 2) Jesus was not crucified; 3) Jesus was not resurrected from death. Even atheists should find this troubling, because Islam infiltrates societies with a Christian background in part by pretending to accept Jesus. In fact, Islam means the slow and sometimes not slow murder of Christianity, which we see happening in many parts of the Islamic world today, with Christians raped and murdered with impunity, and their churches destroyed. And as you point out Wellington, Islam will be infinitely worse than Christianity is for atheists and others.
JanwoG says
I would add that Islam is the anti-covenant of Judeochristianism:
According to Muslim tradition, Abraham scarified Ismael and not Isaac on Mount Moriah. According to Jewish and Christians Abraham sacrificed Isaac and opened the Jewish and Christian covenant through Moses to Yeshua . To the support to the Jewish tradition, all Prophets up to Yeshua were issued from the Isaac line except Muhammad. Hence Abraham had not sacrificed both. Therefore, the one who sacrificed Ismael should be called Ibrahim. Hence we have two very different prophetic lines: the Abrahamic religions including Jews, Messianic Jews and Christians, and Ibrahimic religions including Islam, Amahdiya, Bahai. As a consequence, Islam is the antinomy of Judaism. Furthermore, Isa (Jesus?) of the Quran is not son of God and has not died on the cross to save the world. At the day of judgement, Isa will be assistant of the Mahdi and will confirm Islam is the true religion. Isa and Yeshua are not the same person and Islam is the antinomy of Christianity.
R Russell says
And the Biblical prophecy of the descendants of Ishmael and Isaac being at war with each other continues to this day and beyond.
However we know who wins in the end – and it’s going to be bloody.
Suebe Hatz says
Islam has no claim what so ever in saying Ishmael was the son Abraham brought for the sacrifice. The 5 books of the bible were written before Mohammed was born, and what did those books say. Anybody who can accept the truth and read the bible would know. Also how can Muslims say that he Mohammed was mention in the bible when is was clearly Jesus was the prophet God was talking about when he said that I would put my words in his mouth. Mohammed supposedly talked to Gabriel not God, and if it is true what I read, it was the tossed out angel Satan Mohammed talked to. It was his wife that convinced him it had to be an Angel of God that spoke to him or he would be marked tcrazy by everyone if he said it was the devil that spoke to him in that cave. Why do you think mostly what is written is evil, and not loving.
Malcolm (South Afric) says
You are a good man Wellington, we differ at times however have grown to respect your objectivity and gravenimage.
It is not neccessary to agree however there is a need to respect the human dignity of the person and the good we see.
Keith Jordan says
I am agnostic, too, but I think government has no business promoting, endorsing, or enforcing ANY religion. Faith should be a private thing.
Pere LaChaise says
Hungary, as far as I know has no official constitutional separation of church and state. Its political Liturgy should not be forced into the American mold. Most members of the EU have official, state-sponsored churches anyhow.
While Orbán’s speech is ambiguous in its appeal to Christian values of state and society – open to broad interpretation – at least Hungary, like neighboring Poland, owns a richly Christian history with strong themes of fidelity
to Christ, acknowledgement of his suzerainty, including national identity hardened in resistance against the Ottoman Turk with his bloody Islam.
Hungary has a more recent history of faith denied and suppressed by a Communist regime imposed from abroad, by Russia, the bastion of Imperial Orthodoxy before its Bolshevik revolution. Hungarians are a mixed polity of several confessions: Roman Catholic, Calvinist, Unitarian and Orthodox, with Jews and Muslims among them.
A claim to Hungarian identity rooted in historical actualities is a potent one in a struggle against Soros’ internationalism. It’s no secret that his ‘religion’, inculcated by his father, is the dissolution of nationality and religion, even language. His bizarre surname itself attests to this ‘faith’ – Soros is not a Hungarian or Jewish name, but is Esperanto for the verb ‘to soar’.
A thorough exposition of Soros’ origins and goals would explain much to the rest of us.

A substantial part of Eastern Europe is forbidding Islamic immigration and, oddly enough, is able to do so in part as a legacy of communism. Eastern Europe was in many ways held back and isolated culturally by communist repression, censorship, and economic backwardness, and thus Eastern European cultures in some ways remain more traditional and less PC than the cultures of Western Europe. That more traditional, less international culture and society is part of why public opinion in Eastern Europe could be rallied to stop Islamic immigration. How ironic (to an anti-communist like me) that it might be due to those decades of communism that the West is saved rather than destroyed!
Matthieu Baudin says
The PC environment that we now endure is the culmination of a type of slow burning, anti western cultural revolutionary movement, outside of the East Block, that began in the early 1970’s. Thus the people of Eastern Europe missed out on decades of indoctrination and have a more secure sense of identity and human values still intact.

In the first line (above) it would bring us closer to reality if we substituted ‘progressive’ for ‘fashionable’. It is fashionable thinking, avoiding the anxiety of being out of step or of being tagged as woefully rigid and conservative, that is the case here. ‘Progressive’ has attached to itself a ‘moral high ground’ that’s totally undeserved in the current political climate. The values that the contemporary left espouses are not only anti-Christian, they also actively undermining the Enlightenment Humanist Values that were spawned in Europe largely from the Christian tradition over two hundred years ago.
Europe must reclaim its distinctive moral identity while care should be taken that non believers are valued equally as citizens. There has always been a moral code for living life and treating others with love, honesty and fairness and it is these values that should form the compass for both the faithful and those who don’t identify personally as Christian but who call Europe home.
Lance says
Hungary is a Sovereign Nation. Hungary may rightly follow whatever path that Hungarian Citizens deem proper. The Laws of Hungary are made by Hungarians, not by the UN or any one else. Christianity and Judaism have had historical impacts upon Hungary. Islam has also had impacts. How the Hungarian people choose to view those impacts and decide for themselves what is in THEIR best interests is entirely up to the people of Hungary. Everyone else, be damned.
Anne Smith says
Actually, since it joined the EU Hungary is no longer a sovereign nation, having handed over its government to Brussels. However, fortunately they have decided to ignore Brussels and its strictures to them to take in their allotted quota of Islamic immigrants (to even out Merkel’s overload).
Orban is a sensible man and a good man. Wish we had a leader of his determination, common sense and stature instead of the infantile Sharia May.

I wish the rest of Europe would see the light. I believe in France if you get caught preaching in the streets about Jesus you could face up to 2 or 3 years in prison. I believe many other E U countries are doing the same. They no longer care about their citizens, they only care for the immigrants that won’t assimilate. If they do not go back to Christianity then they will be another Islamic country in about 30 years. The Christians will be voted out and Islam will take over. I feel for real Europeans.
Chip11 says
Then I am happy that I will probably not be around in 30 years time. I won’t have to witness the sad demise of Europe.

Mr. Orban, I agree with you 100%. Europeans must get rid of their ignorant and traitors leaders. Some one should supply them with copies of the Koran, hoping that would open their blind eyes and hearts. It is extremely obvious that countries which do not follow the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ are being doomed and fast. Satan does not tire. He has a long list of tools to deceive the faithful CHRISTIANS and make them follow him. Islam is now his top of the list tool.
We in the USA were about to ruin a great country which was blessed because it’s adherence to Christ, by electing a fanatic Muslim, a criminal with a satanic goal in his evil hateful heart which is to destroy America.
But, Thanks to our Lord the Americans woke up and elected our beloved pious Christian Donald Trump.
I pray the Europe wake up before it will be too late.

2. Orban resists the muszlim overtake of Europe – great
3. But do it in the name of human values, not in the “Christian values”.
4. Let’s keep religion (all of them) apart from politics and state
5. Orban is not a classic antisemite, he and his government uses almost no direct or open antisemitic rethoric, but his partys sympathisers can mostly be characterized as openly or hidden antisemites.
So have some balance and skip the illusions

You forget: Christianity is a sept of Judaism. Our Saviour was/is a Jew. Our New Testament was written by Jews with the exception of Luke.
Jesus taught us through Paul in the letter to the church in Galatia, “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself..”
Thus when Jews were killed by supposed Christians, they were killing God’s chosen people and were not in obedience to the Word of God in the Bible.
I wonder, Tell me where in the Bible it says Christians are to kill Jews?

Sadly, for the people whose ancestors built our European civilisation through their blood, sweat and tears, most leaders of white (formerly) Christian countries appear determined to wipe out the white Christian races from their ancestral homelands.
This was begun in earnest during the 50s/60s when our education systems started their sidelining of Christianity, drugs and rampant sex were pushed as being marks of freedom to teenagers, while our governments started to scatter our communities and replace the family with the state
The final straw was mass immigration which began in the 90s and continues to this day, the aim being the final elimination of the white races in Europe
And since our legal systems have been rejigged (especially after accession to the EU) we are not allowed to defend ourselves or our families without fear of legal action, losing our jobs – or worse so it seems that our future (or lack of it) has been decided
R Russell says
Yes, and they demanded our children be taught the atheistic beginnings narrative of Darwinism and sneered at creationism.
They still do and do their best to suppress the fact that science has advanced so far it is known evolution is impossible. Even Dawkins has had to review his beliefs and has joined the panspermia brigade – which only places the ‘problem’ one step further back.
Yes, we reap what we sow and if we continue to go down the road we are travelling on, we will find ourselves enslaved to an ideology which will kill us if we do not join them. Do we want this future for our children and grandchildren?
lasslax says
I think you both are wrong. Islam is not floding Europe and not expanding to the Americas because of the decline of the Christianity.
Christianity is not the sole force opposing islam, but only one of those forces.
Unfortuantely there is a huge confusion among us about the HUMAN BEINGS of muslim faith, who has to be handled as human beings when in need, and the fascistic ideologi that islam is poisoning these people with.
There is no good solution to the situation today. Orban tries to keep the whole problem outside of his country, confronting the migrants needs against his peoples needs, confronting the migrants rights against his own citizens rights. He is elected of his citizens, so he represents their rights against the migrants. It’s pure selfdefense, common sense, leave the “Christian values” out of it, that is just a theatre.
