Why will people be “riled up”? Can’t handle the truth?
This piece is so sloppily edited, it is astonishing it got published at all. But that’s “journalism” for you nowadays: not careful or accurate reporting, just Leftist agitprop.
Much, much more below.
“Conservative speaker who says Islam is ‘violent’ religion set to speak at Stanford,” KTVU, November 8, 2017:
Author Alice Walker famous for The Color Purple among other novels, spoke on the Stanford campus Wednesday night, but a politically conservative speaker is set to come to the Palo Alto university in a matter of days.
This is a strange juxtaposition. I’m not quite sure what KTVU is getting at. Am I going to undo all the good vibes Alice Walker left? That does seem to be the implication.
Already there’s a backlash against the appearance.
For some students, the so-called bubble around the campus is being buffeted by the discord of our time. The battle to balance out free speech on college campuses, even if it means hearing points of view that vary drastically from many people’s position. The brain teaser tugging at the collective conscious of Stanford University centers on the upcoming speaking appearance of Robert Spencer.
Who at KTVU writes this purple prose? In any case, there should be no controversy at all. Freedom of speech should be understood as a foundational principle of a free society. But of course, it isn’t.
“I wasn’t aware that kind of stuff happens here. mostly because I see it on the news at Berkeley, and Stanford is kind of the rival of everything,” said Stanford freshman Alaessandro Boaro..[sic]
What kind of “stuff,” Alaessandro? Free inquiry? A fair hearing for ideas that challenge the Leftist establishment?
Stanford’s student newspaper published articles and op-eds Wednesday about Spencer’s impending arrival November 14th.
“We’ve obviously seen the student senate debate they should fund the Spencer event. They ultimately chose yes to fund the event, but also condemn Spencer’s ideology,” said Stanford Daily editor-in-chief Ada Statler-Throckmorten[.]
Imagine: opposing jihad terror and Sharia discrimination against women, gays, and non-Muslims is now an “ideology” worthy of condemnation.
Robert Spencer has decried what he calls the “Islamization” of America, and has said Islam is a violent religion.
Look at Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan, Pakistan and Afghanistan. All strongly based on Islamic law. All human rights basket cases. Does KTVU want those laws here? No? Then it should be supporting me, not defaming me. And as for Islam being a violent religion, there have been 32,000 violent jihad attacks worldwide since 9/11, all committed in the name of Islam and in accord with its teachings. Clearly there are a great many Muslims who believe Islam is a violent religion. My reach and resonance must be even greater than the Stanford snowflakes imagine!
“It’s gonna rile-up a lot of people. and a lot of people are going to feel uncomfortable especially since this that isn’t what Stanford was to them,” said Boara.
All right, KTVU, is it “Boaro,” as you have it above, or “Boara,” as you have it here?
Stanford’s College Republicans invited him to speak, but wouldn’t speak to Fox-2 about that decision. In a published statement the group says, “We will not let the fact that some students take exception to Mister Spencer’s views stop us from providing an important educational experience to the Stanford community.”…
“Even if the Spencer event does go on, the action would be to boycott the event, rather than any kind of active protest,” said Statler-Throckmorten[.]
Can’t handle an intellectual challenge, eh, Statler-Throckmorten? And why can’t KTVU manage to put a period after “Statler-Throckmorten”?
There is an on-line petition by some students asking the student association to de-fund Spencer’s visit. School officials admit struggling with this, but in the end say discovery sometimes comes from ideas deemed objectionable.
Heh. Meanwhile, they’re doing their best to make sure that students think my ideas “objectionable” before they’ve heard me say a word.

Why will people be “riled up”?
Yes Robert, a super question which many find difficult to answer.
also, like, why should Muslims fear a backlash when …?
jihad3tracker says
HELLO SIDNEY —
I am old enough to remember a hilarious American TV series running in the 1960s, titled “The Beverly Hillbillies”. “Riled up” could be an expression straight out of the mouths of Grannie, Jed Clampett, Jethro, and Ellie Mae. Search YouTube for some episodes of that very funny program.
Jack Diamond says
Obviously Jethro would be teaching at Stanford in the updated version.
jihad3tracker says
HELLO JACK —- Here is “Jethro Goes To College”, from the Beverly Hillbillies TV series:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXyo732r4LM
It runs about 25 minutes so we might want to wait until this weekend, kick back with an adult beverage, and have some well-merited laughs at the pathetic condition of 21st Century campus faculties.
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
“Uncle Jed gave me some tuition money. Can I enroll in your Islamic studies program?”
“Hot dang. I’ll go tell Uncle Jed!”
larry says
And Jethro is durn good at cyferin too!
Susan Olsen says
Anyone remember the SNL parody, “The Bel Arabs”? GIlda Radner as Granny running around in a black niquab, screaming “lelelelelele”. Couldn’t get away with that today!
Custos Custodum says
Preemptive backlash aka frontlash.
Robert, please be particularly careful. It’s been a rough year for the Left-totalitarians, and they really want a scalp.
The crescendo of vicious propaganda clearly aims to prepare the ground for violence, and at the same time to serve as pre-emptive justification.
The media are already in solid lockstep, working hard and smart from their Soros-issued talking points.
C T says
Riled up? Maybe once they go on the internet and realize that Sunni Islam really does hold it to be a commandment to kill apostates and homosexuals, treat women as eternal wards of the men in their families, etc.. First they’ll be mad at the messenger (that’s Robert), then if they have even a teensy ability to think for themselves, they’ll be mad at all the professors and media that have been lying to them about Islam being so wonderful and un-criticize-able for years.
katherine says
Most universities in the US now need to be investigated for Marxist and Islamofascist infiltration. The outright rejection of the !st Amendment and calls to repeal the 2nd should have warned the entire nation that 5th-elements have already burrowed into the major tertiary institutions – administrators and student leaders must be questioned.
Where is the FBI – whose side are they on today ? Attacking the Constitution is Treason, especially when the UN approves of it.
Wellington says
The FBI has been severely compromised many times over, as Robert Spencer himself has detailed on several occasions. Don’t count on the FBI for much. After all, just look at who recently headed the agency——-Mueller and Comey. And the present head, Wray, has given me no reason to date to be more sanguine.
In short, the FBI is part of the problem, not part of a true solution.
Custos Custodum says
It appears that elements within the Obama-era FBI under James Comey effectively tried to let a patsy assassinate Robert Spencer in Garland, Texas. Fortunately, the attempt was repulsed by local security.
Emilie Green says
This thing is taking on life of its own. I never seen The Blob, but from old movie posters Stanford is poised to be consumed,

jihad3tracker says
HELLO EMILIE — YES, “POISED TO BE CONSUMED” ! ! !
I have written several emails to Robert about how HUGE the panic is about his upcoming appearance at Stanford on November 14.
We readers here at JW are seeing what Special Snowflakes do when they have ABSOLUTELY NO FACTUAL pushback.
Bodega says
I wonder who her prompter is? “Riled up” is not a Muslim term. It is from the sticks of America where I am from. I have never even heard a citified person use it. Who is the prompter?
gravenimage says
Probably a dhimmi Infidel rather than a Muslim.
Custos Custodum says
Yep. All the propaganda is clearly tightly organized and managed by a staff of experienced “community organizers” and PR professionals.
The public faces of the preposterous anti-Spencer propaganda moves are clearly only pawns with at best a dim understanding of the overall picture.
Custos Custodum says
The National Socialists allied with Muslims for both practical and ideological reasons.
The virus of totalitarian National Socialism did not come to a sudden end in 1945. It had transferred to new vectors long before then and successfully invaded new ecosystems including the U.S. educational system.
Wellington says
Presently, the least amount of freedom which exists in all of America can be found on college and university campuses aplenty. That the Left is more in charge than ever of these campuses and that freedom is in steep decline at said locations is certainly no coincidence. Assuredly, this “connection” is one tied at the hip. Those averring otherwise are either 1) ignorant; 2) stupid; or 3) lying.
Where Leftism has more influence, to that extent does freedom decline. Where Islam has more influence, to that extent does freedom decline. I challenge any leftist or Muslim to prove me wrong here. I assert it simply cannot be done. Yes, no one who prizes real freedom should ever prize Leftism or Islam. Not one damn exception to this rule that I have proffered. Not one.
No wonder these two massive errors (Leftism and Islam) are allies since they both detest liberty. Of course, and this will be utterly lost on any leftist, Islam will “eat up” its leftist allies if (hope it’s “if” and not “when”) the opportunity arises. Yeah, leftists won’t “get” this, but then leftists “get” virtually nothing. They function in permanent foolish mode UNLESS they cease being leftist. As with Islam, the only route to possession of sound common sense, proper knowledge and enlightened moral intelligence of a high order is to abandon these two totalitarian systems of thought. Not one damn exception to this rule I have proffered. Not one.
eduardo odraude says
How outlandish to say that Islam is a violent religion.
On Page 672 (992 in the Arabic) of the earliest Muslim biography of Muhammad, the “Prophet” says
http://www.quotingislam.blogspot.com
mortimer says
Eduardo, Here is the correct quotation and reference:
Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 992: – “Fight everyone in the way of Allah and kill those who disbelieve in Allah.”
(Muhammad’s bigoted instructions to his jihadists prior to a raid.)
eduardo odraude says
If you click on the link, page 672, you’ll see I quoted the Guillaume’s translation verbatim. I prefer the translation “Allah” too, but it’s not what Guillaume used.
Michael Copeland says
“…speaker who says Islam is ‘violent’ religion”- Shock!
Shock?
“Violence is the heart of Islam” – Ayatollah Yazdi.
mortimer says
Quran (8:12) – “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who DISBELIEVE. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them”
The targets of violence are “those who DISBELIEVE”. This is pure bigotry. This is further defined in the next verse (13) as “defy and disobey Allah.” Nothing is said about self-defense. In fact, the verses in sura 8 were narrated shortly after a battle provoked by Muhammad, who had been trying to attack a lightly-armed caravan to steal goods belonging to other people.
This is both murder and theft authorized supposedly by the deity directly just because the victims ‘disbelieve’ in Mohammed.
gfmucci says
Indeed it will as well it should.
gravenimage says
“It’s gonna rile-up a lot of people. and a lot of people are going to feel uncomfortable especially since this that isn’t what Stanford was to them,” said Boara.
………………………..
Does that mean that Stanford is *for* throwing Gay people off tall buildings, FGM, forcing children into marriage, slaughtering non-Muslims, and stoning rape victims to death?
C T says
Stanford’s PC community is about to be exposed as being supportive of a religion that teaches, in its most widely accepted versions, that gays and apostates should be killed, that uppity wives should be beaten, that women who have been raped can’t get justice unless they can find four men to testify to the rape, etc.
No wonder they’re scared. They should be. They’ve been lying to themselves and young adults for at least 16 years now. Their credibility on Islam is gone to anyone who’s looked up the actual doctrines of Islam.
St. Manuel II Palaiologos says
” School officials admit struggling with this, but in the end say discovery sometimes comes from ideas deemed objectionable.”
Thank God these officials aren’t like the Berkeley ones.
I suggest the College Republicans do Ben Shapiro and Milo Yiannopoulos also, to add insult to injury.
Karl S. says
I like how pointing out the bloody obvious–that the religion of peace is inherently violent and regressive–in today’s day and age is a cause for uproar against the person saying it, and not against Islam.
C T says
Getting angry at the messenger because their favored non-violent tactics (as if the rest of us actually like violence!) won’t work against jihadism.
mortimer says
“I’m offended!” … IS NOT A VALID ARGUMENT! It is a STUPID defense used by dishonest people.
You cannot substitute STRONG FEELING in place of EVIDENCE, FACTS AND LOGIC.
When a core belief is under threat from a good counter-argument, it is common for many to defend the belief by stating “I’m offended”. Here the person whose beliefs are under threat seeks to defend their position and thinking, not with evidence and argument, but by throwing out an often unjustified comment claiming to be offended.
The ‘I’m offended’ DEFENSE gets played rather easily by those who have no argument, because they are trying to substitute their intense ‘hurt feelings’ for the LACKING EVIDENCE and FACTS that are MISSING from their claim.
Because the Leftards and Muslims have NO argument with which to defend Islam, they distract us with INTENSE FEELINGS which have absolutely no validity in an inquiry into the truth or falsehood of CLAIMS.
If all they have is INTENSE FEELING divorced from a SOLIDLY LOGICAL, FACT-BASED ARGUMENT, then they AUTOMATICALLY FAIL in this debate.
If you have NO argument in a debate, you AUTOMATICALLY FAIL.
Leftards and Muslims have failed to substantiate their claim that ‘hurt feelings’ constitute a reason for cancelling a speech.
Mccode says
I sincerely hope that people are offended and ‘riled up’, outraged in fact, once they pluck their heads from the sand and recognize the true nature of the origins of the Cult of Mohammed and the teachings on which it is based, whitewashed and denied by apologists and fools.
mortimer says
HOW VIOLENT IS ISLAM? How about ONE KILLED EVERY THREE MINUTES?
500 killed every day since Mohammed.
270 million lives have been snuffed out by Islam since Mohammed began his violent career:
-120 million black Africans killed by the Islamic slave trade
-80 million Hindus killed in the Hindu genocides committed by Muslim invaders
-60 million Christians killed in jihads
-10 million Buddhists killed in jihads
-270 million total deaths due to jihad
-31,800 deadly jihad attacks have occurred since 9-11 … about 10 deaths per day
-Islam has killed an average of 19,300 people every year since Mohammed
-Islam has killed an average of 500 people every day since Mohammed.
-Islam has killed an average of 20 people every hour and killed 1 person every three minutes since
Mohammed. Do the math.
A religion that kills one person every three minutes is the definition of a VIOLENT CULT.
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
Strong, important and powerful ideas have always “riled people up.” Standford should consider itself lucky to have some students who want to bring fresh, alternative ideas to their stale, stultified, tenure infested campus.
Jayell says
Perhaps Mr. Spencer should console himself that he’s only getting semi-literate garbage for telling it how it is. Over here, across the pond, you can get dragged in front of a magistrate for doing that, even if you’re only quoting Winston Churchill on the subject. Still, Theresa May made certain that Mr. Spencer wouldn’t have to suffer that! Nice, isn’t she? (Although some might consider her namesake – without the ‘h’ – for some strange reason nicer).
Custos Custodum says
Theresa May has for at least two decades been a sock puppet serving very powerful interests.
scherado says
Where the bleep is Stanford, I’m going to go there myself to support Mr. Spencer….if I can.
scherado says
Ok, It’s CA….I WON”T be going.

I attend Stanford (and am in the Republican community hosting this event), and let me tell you, it’s a basketcase here. The Muslim community, instead of condemning jihad, are providing safe spaces and talks prior & post-event. It’s insane to me that all they have to do is condemn jihad, and instead are making what I see to be a very negative case for themselves.
(( I’m not attending this talk – not because I wouldn’t love to hear your lecture, but I definitely don’t want to threaten my future career with any clashes at a single-night event. ))
The students are complaining about paying so much for the security fee (saying it’s wasting their dollars to fund a “hate speech” they disapprove of) yet plan to disrupt his talk about 20 minutes in. You’re the reason for the security fee, guys. Keep an eye out, don’t try and argue with them, and make the police do their jobs.
I don’t understand- I have to deal with their speech against my whiteness and Christian beliefs. I sat through a biology class that told me that transgenderism isn’t a mental illness. Where’s my compensation? I’m paying for this!
The palo alto police are great, just let them escort the protestors out politely. They’re wasting everyone’s time and money.
