“Despite these parallels, it may still seem like a stretch to link a few retweets to the Holocaust.”
Uh, yeah.
“One of the precursors to the Nazi ascendancy was the immense popularity, in the painful aftermath of World War I, of a book purporting to disclose Jews’ plans for global domination: The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The book was a forgery — no such plan existed or had ever been published by Jews — but it and similar texts cemented Jews as scapegoats for Europe’s economic and political ills years before the Nazis took power. The analogy to the president and his retweets is striking.”
Actually, the idea that Trump’s retweets have anything to do with The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is more Leftist hysteria, as Leftists grow ever more deranged in their hatred of President Trump. The claim that Muslims are being victimized as Jews were is not original to Daniel Altman of Foreign Policy. It’s a common Leftist talking point. Many, many others have made this claim, including Noam Chomsky, Bernie Sanders; Prince Charles; the notorious non-Muslim Islamic apologist Karen Armstrong; Jeffrey Goldberg, “journalist” at The Atlantic; Leftist media darling and pseudo-intellectual hack Reza Aslan; Muslim Brotherhood-linked Congressman Keith Ellison; Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times; the deceptive Canada-based Islamic supremacist imam Syed Sohawardy; and Philadelphia chapter leader of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations Jacob Bender. Many others have repeated it.
The blazingly brilliant Daniel Greenfield takes it apart in this video. The idea that Muslims are the new Jews is put forward by the Left, but it also has opponents on the Left. In 2014, as part of his ongoing awakening to the nature and reality of the jihad threat, Bill Maher noted:
Jews weren’t oppressing anybody. There weren’t 5,000 militant Jewish groups. They didn’t do a study of treatment of women around the world and find that Jews were at the bottom of it. There weren’t 10 Jewish countries in the world that were putting gay people to death just for being gay.
Indeed. Further, neither Trump nor anyone else is calling for or justifying genocide of Muslims, as Hitler did against Jews early in his political career. No individual or group opposed to Islam is remotely comparable to the National Socialists. Not that facts have ever gotten in the way of a good meme.
Maher isn’t alone on the Left in having pointed out the absurdity of likening opposition to jihad to the lead-up to the Holocaust. The late Christopher Hitchens also refuted this idea when writing a few years ago about the notorious Ground Zero Mosque proposal:
“Some of what people are saying in this mosque controversy is very similar to what German media was saying about Jews in the 1920s and 1930s,” Imam Abdullah Antepli, Muslim chaplain at Duke University, told the New York Times. Yes, we all recall the Jewish suicide bombers of that period, as we recall the Jewish yells for holy war, the Jewish demands for the veiling of women and the stoning of homosexuals, and the Jewish burning of newspapers that published cartoons they did not like.
“This Is How Every Genocide Begins: Why Trump’s most un-American moment can’t be overlooked,” by Daniel Altman, Foreign Policy, November 30, 2017:
Donald Trump’s retweeting of anti-Muslim propaganda videos is the most un-American thing he has done as president. I could just as well end this article here, as the truth of this statement should be self-evident. But let me explain.
A president can do many things that seem cruel, especially from the point of view of his political opponents, such as encouraging Congress to strip health insurance away from millions of Americans. He can also do many things to offend the moral sensibility of his constituents, such as talking about grabbing women by their genitals. He can even go so far as to call into question American values, perhaps by equating the actions of white supremacists and those who oppose them.
Each of these actions is abhorrent in its own way, but I would argue that none of them creates the same peril to the nation — and to humanity itself — as the president’s retweets. I know it may seem like an enormous exaggeration to pin such importance on the result of clicking a button on a webpage. But again, please bear with me.
Some of the greatest crimes in human history have begun with moments like this one. Social scientists agree that attacks on an entire class of people — whether identified by their race, religion, education, or any other distinguishing characteristic — do not happen spontaneously. First the mob has to be primed. The targeted group has to be demonized through a campaign of hateful misinformation, always presented as legitimate information by people in positions of trust. Then the signal for violence falls on ready ears.
It happened this way in Germany, Cambodia, Rwanda, and countless other sites of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and mass persecution. The pamphlets, megaphones, and radio broadcasts came before the pogroms, murders, and forced relocations.
And today, we have even more effective ways to reach millions of people at a time, as the president’s more than 43 million followers on Twitter can attest; the established media only magnify his reach. But could another crime on this scale happen here?
For the answer, Americans need only look to the historical case they probably know best: that of Nazi Germany. One of the precursors to the Nazi ascendancy was the immense popularity, in the painful aftermath of World War I, of a book purporting to disclose Jews’ plans for global domination: The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The book was a forgery — no such plan existed or had ever been published by Jews — but it and similar texts cemented Jews as scapegoats for Europe’s economic and political ills years before the Nazis took power.
The analogy to the president and his retweets is striking. He has used populist rhetoric to gain sway with vast numbers of disadvantaged and disillusioned Americans, in part by appealing to long-held prejudices. The videos he shared purportedly portray outrages committed by Muslim migrants in Europe, yet in reality they may be nothing of the sort. And just as Adolf Hitler claimed that the mainstream media’s dismissal of the Protocols proved that they were true, the president has repeatedly switched fact for fiction, especially in his denouncements of “fake news.”
Despite these parallels, it may still seem like a stretch to link a few retweets to the Holocaust. But the path from the Protocols to the extermination camps was not traveled in a single night. The Nazis took power in 1933. Kristallnacht, the two days of riots that marked the first nationwide, coordinated outbreak of violence against German Jews, happened in 1938. The camps came a few years later, in the midst of World War II.
I am worried that the president has set us on this long and terrible path. I worry for Muslims, but also for everyone who believes in freedom and equal rights….

I don’t understand the whole “islam must rule the world” philosophy.
IF the goal is to demolish Western Civilization/ Christianity through Islam- which will also allow pedophilia– what will happen to scientific progress? Are we to become the former soviet union, living under the yoke of oppression? Is that the end game? Islam as the new communism?
If yes… how will the peons be able to support the 1% and their way of life, as well as the 20%, 30% or 40% + Muslim population that will not work or contribute because they don’t want to and/or have a low IQ?
Or is the plan simply for China/Japan to do all manufacturing and science? That’s possible, however, how will the 1% pay for it, when the EU and North America don’t have the same sort of “oil resources” as muslm nations like Saudi Arabia? There is still the problem of a very violent, non-working underclass that needs to be addressed.
It makes no sense.

To make sense go to, download and read. tinyurl.com/motxmmo
It’s titled: ‘Practical Idealism’ (1925)’ by Count Coudenhove-Kalergi. It’s in English, the translation is correct, I have the German original.
Kalergi is the founder of the original “Pan European Union (yes, EU!), founded in the 1920s. Notable members: Albert Einstein, Fridtjof Nansen, Johan Ludwig Mowinckel, Thomas Mann, Franz Werfel, Bronisław Huberman, Aristide Briand, Konrad Adenauer, Sigmund Freud, Benedetto Croce, Bruno Kreisky, Léon Blum and Georges Pompidou
In 1947 an additional (branch/group) was formed by the following members: Duncan Sandys, Winston Churchill, Edvard Beneš – among others.
The Kalergi price, annual EU event, has been won by Merkel, Sarkozy, Timmerman, etc. et cetera est! Merkel has by now a collection of Kalergi prizes.
You real want to know what is happening? ***REALLY***? OK, read ‘Practical Idealism’, and you read exactly and precisely what is going on. Christianity, traditions, national pride and sovereignty? “Hah, hahahah, harde di har har….(my evil Prof. Moriarty laughter, couldn’t help myself.)” Read ‘Practical Idealism’! Isn’t a dubious scripture / forgery whatever a la ‘Protocols…Zion’. No! It’s *human heritage*, UN Protected. If you don’t like the pdf download, get a beautiful, hardbound copy from the EU, that’s an outfit in Brussels. Isn’t expensive, just a few Euros…. You will obtain a copy without difficulty, it’s practical the (un-)holy book of the EU.
What? Nightmares after reading?
Hey, that was nothing! The Kalergi plan had to be put into practise. Ever heard of the Hooton plan? No? It’s by now no longer available in English, but on German websites, with reprints of American Newspapers and other publications. But nothing to worry about, unlike Kalergi, about whites or European peoples, Hooton (who was connected, like Kalergi, with the ‘School of Frankfurt’) only wanted to exterminate the Germans, if not by mass executions and German men as slave workers, then by slow, methodical importation of Africans and Muslims – and “taking over their women”. Ah, thank God, only to and for the Germans! So, why is it also applied to the Swedes, French, English, Americans, Spanish, Italians, Canadians – and so on and so forth? At slightly varying speeds, of course. So, it’s Kalergi after all.
Damn! Something must have gone wrong, but what?
BTW, ever heard of “Eurabia”? That was just one of the beginning points. Ever heard of Thomas Barnett? You know, CIA, US-Naval Office.. No? Hmh… “Shoot all who resist the NWO!” Yeah, that Thomas Barnett, who foretold that Europe will be in civil war and ungovernable in 20 years from… Total bullox! After all, he said and wrote that about 23 years ago! So, how wrong the statement! Definitely a conspiracy theory, debunking, debunking, debunked – what a relieve. That all that is in written, book form, who cares.
Conspiracy theory? But of course, it’s probably a pure coincidence that Kalergi wrote that in 1925, propagated it till his death, still being propagated by his offspring – and the EU itself, which is putting it into practice. Hooton, who was very influential with Roosevelt and Truman, wrote and described the methods in detail, including fall-backs in case the Germans realize what’s happening to them. Barnett wrote it into his books – hmmh. If that’s a ‘theory’, I wonder what proof and practise looks like. Nah, I don’t wonder, all I have to do is read JihadWatch and similar publications, they describe it exactly, day in, day out!
Have a nice read, and don’t forget to have some tranquilizers ready.
BTW, try Wikipedia:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paneuropean_Union
and
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earnest_Hooton
And if you think that’s shoking, about Hooton, try the originals! Though, these are hard to find. Except for German translations with pictures of the NYT, etc.

Have you heard of those who say that certain groups would like to reduce the world population to 10%, and have that remaining 10% live in controlled walled cities, the rest being preserved nature or whatever?

LeftisruiningCanada says
Agreed GI, it’s almost as if islamic culture desires the reduction of living standards. It creates many norms and patterns of behavior that give that outcome.
Being poor also seems to feed into the victimhood narrative. And Israel is the perfect scapegoat they end up wanting to lay their hands on.

– As opposed to the Jews , there are SO MANY, MANY muslims who ARE calling for – and/or aspiring to – GLOBAL DOMINATION of their religion, and they do so OPENLY, EVERYWHERE – in mosques, on the streets, and by voice of some of their most popular “spokespersons” – IT’S THERE FOR EVERYONE TO SEE.
Now – “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” indeed was a forgery – “no such plan existed or had ever been published by Jews” – but UNLESS YOU WANT TO CALL THE QURAN AND THE OTHER ISLAMIC TEXTS FORGERIES AS WELL, the islamic “plans for global domination” DO EXIST, and these texts serve as physical EVIDENCE nr. 1 of the islamic plans of submitting the world to their “rule”, Altman, you DANGEROUS FOOL.
mortimer says
Bill Maher thunderously debated and destroyed this canard, namely, that Muslims today are similar to Jews in Europe in the 1930s.
Daniel Altman is unstudied and unread in the primary source documents of Islam, and yet, preposterously, he presents himself as an authority on Islam, presumably, due to being Jew. How does that make up for not reading the primary source texts of Islam? It doesn’t. It’s a red herring.
Altman is lazy and uninformed about the essential doctrines of Islam… which, by the way, Mr. Altman, CANNOT BE REFORMED.
Leon Degney says
My sentiments exactly.
mortimer says
Most Jews today (the ones who have actually studied the Holocaust) would be thoroughly insulted and appalled by Daniel Altman’s comparison of European Jewry under Nazism to what is happening to Muslims today.
There were NO acts of Jewish terrorism to speak of in the 1930s. Jews in the 1930s were not attacking anyone. There have been over 32,000 lethal jihad attacks since 9/11, inflicting about 50 casualties or deaths every single day. There have been roughly 150,000 jihad related deaths since 9/11 and possibly many more, because many jihad-related murders are not counted as Islamic terrorism.
Islamic terrorism is a REAL PHENOMENON, Mr. Altman, and a very big phenomenon…or have you taken the time to study it? Too busy, huh? But you have time for spontaneous pontificating on a complex topic (Islamic terrorism and its justifying ideology).

Agree. Altman is whitewashing the jihad ideology and downplaying its significance in promoting jihad-terror.
Altman disarms the average Leftist with soothing soporifics to keep them unaroused to the threat coming from the Islamists. Many Islamic terror attacks (such as that of Maj. Dr. Nidal Hasan) could have been prevented had ordinary citizens shared their suspicious and observations with the authorities.
Daniel Altman does not want citizens to be alert to the threat.
mortimer says
Mr. Altman, the threat is REAL.

Political hope for the UK: Anne Marie Waters. Even the BBC apologized to her and admitted that it had been wrong to characterize her as “far-right.” Her party, For Britain, is very clear that it stands for democracy, freedom of speech, and equal rights for all people. Certain of her videos show how articulate, smart, and eloquent she can be. Paul Weston has recently discontinued his own party and joined hers. Hers is not a one issue party, but she knows what Islam is and the threat it represents to UK rights and freedoms, and she points to the need to stop immigration from Islamic nations. She makes it clear that there is no need for violence or new laws, but only to enforce existing UK laws (for example against FGM). Her party at the moment is small. But we can at least hope that will change in the not distant future.
dumbledoresarmy says
“Paul Weston has recently discontinued his own party and joined hers.”
Excellent. Consolidation. I will pray for both of them; and pray that a similar sort of movement can occur in Australia!!
What’s needed right now is for a movement to the ‘centre’, so to speak.. For resistance to Islam, critique of Islam, self-defence of free non-Muslim countries, to become a central – and ultimately, entirely uncontroversial – *given* for anyone entering politics.
Only cranks, in the west, would proclaim – as part of their ‘platform’ – that universal vaccination of children against lethal infectious diseases should not happen. No matter what their political stripe, I would guess that the mainstream political parties, right across the west, take it for granted that one should accept the science and immunise children. One wants *resistance to Islam* to become pretty much the same kind of non-issue; that is, everyone knows it’s necessary and lifesaving and everyone *does* it.
I would, therfore, *beg* persons involved in setting up resistance-to-Islamisation parties, to *beware* of making completely- *other*/ unrelated political hot-potato issues a non-negotiable part of the ‘menu’ that they offer potential members/ voters.
Hugh Fitzgerald complained, many years ago, about this ‘fixed-menu’ approach whereby persons wishing to oppose jihad, persons wishing to halt and reverse the hijra – the Muslim immigration-invasion of historically-non-Muslim lands – were all-too-often expected to subscribe to a whole bunch of *other* positions or policies that, to be blunt, don’t necessarily have anything at all to do with whether one recognises that the Ummah needs to be *removed* from free infidel lands, and, once out, KEPT out, forever.

{sahih muslim 6985}
Unlike the fraudulent “protocols” this is a REAL objective plan of those who want a global islamic caliphate.
Of course they must destroy Israel and the Jews(allah’s greatest enemy)to triumph.
The muslims and the left play the victim card.Comparing the plight of muslims today to the Jews in Europe in ww2 is outrageously dishonest.
In fact,it is the Jews and Christians that are being threatened with mass murder by the muslims.
And many other world religions are also being attacked.
Know about islamic supremacist ideology:-
1.Regarding the Jews
{“The last hour will not come unless the muslims will fight the Jews..there is a Jew behind me..KILL him”
Sahih muslim no 41 6985
Israel and the Jews are the main obstacle to a globalist Caliphate.
2.Regarding Christians
islamic anti-Christian “prophecy”(which of course, like all things islamic is laughably false and seriously ludicrous)
“The coming of Jesus … to break the cross and kill the pigs”
sahih al bukhari vol 4 book60 no3448
Yes that’s correct ;muslims believe Jesus will return to wipe out the Christians..and kill all pigs..since of course Jesus(who is believed to be a muslim by muslims)couldn’t possibly be on the side of Christians could He?And of course all pigs will have to be killed too since allah doesn’t like them.
{If you are interested..
Sahih al bukhari no 3448 is utterly demolished by 2 Thessalonians 1 verse 5-10(note v 7 and 8 and 9)}
These islamic supremacist beliefs are behind the current war on Jews and Christians.
It is why Israeli Jewish Civilians are stabbed to death on a regular basis,Christian churches are being attacked and desecrated.
But of course the left.the media pundits and political leaders would have you believe that all this has nothing to do with islam or islamic supremacist ideology.

Actually, Daniel Altman, you are one of today’s typical catalysts for dictatorship and coups in the U.S. You tar a democratically elected and democratically operating president as someone allegedly aiming at genocide, and thus you help to set up the preconditions for his illegal overthrow or arbitrary removal based on nothing but political disagreements. You are thus worse for democracy and human rights, Mr. Altman, than Mr. Trump is. Trump is not genocidal, but you are a fascist-enabler, whether knowingly or moronically.

The writer asserts “…He has used populist rhetoric to gain sway with vast numbers of disadvantaged and disillusioned Americans, in part by appealing to long-held prejudices…”
This is false, and nonsensical. Trump gained sway with vast numbers of americans who were disregarded by the progressives of the left, the dems and the repubs who simply disregarded all the calls to rebute the Obama policies of eight years. It had nothing to do with vast numbers of ‘disadvantaged Americans’… that is the rhetoric of the left, the dems, and the rhinos. Foreign Policy’s writer simply becomes disingenuous.

“Foreign Policy” magazine? What a joke. It’s a pro-iimigration and anti-trump screed. It’s worth the look to see that it is concentrated on forcing immigration on the world’s unwilling.
A few atricle titles should make it plain:
This Land Is Their Land
The Smuggler’s Dilemna
Why Do Some Countries Get Away With Taking Fewer Refugees?
A Silk Road Marriage – Are cross-cultural marriages the key to integrating a region?
Trump Doesn’t Understand the Economics of Immigration – The United States is facing an aging population and a lack of skilled workers.
Foeign Policy magazine seems to be communistic in its seditious attitude that nations should be disolved into a global morass of relativism that will bring Nirvana to Homo Sapien. The result of that failed notion is on display in Sweden. There is not a Patriotic word in the entire “magazine”.
The claim that an aging nation cannot survive is clearly proven false by Japan. In fact there is a precedence for what happens when an aging, economically sound, society invites in the rest of the world – Rome.
Not a single article in this “magazine” indicates any knowledge of Islam’s Qur’an and Hadith or its Allah demanded rejection of non-Muslims. Daniel Altman’s temporary “dementia”, neglecting to note that Islam intends to ultimately kill every Jew, and then raising the ridiculous meme that Trump’s re-tweet of Jihad in action will cause genocide, seems to hide self-hatred.
That’s an “educated” thought Daniel – Invite the ideology, that refuses by Allah’s commandment to integrate, into the US; one that will be persecuting Jews with the intent to ultimately kill them.
You also might notice that genocide on Muslims comes mainly – FROM MUSLIMS.
You have failed to realize that Muslims, as individuals, are not the problem. The problem is Islam’s schizophrenic doctrines of both peace and war against non-Muslims – while both interpretations demand non-integration and hatred for Jews. Allah has also forbidden Muslim women from marying non-Muslims; an extra forbidding to integrate.
Fortunately, the US will have enough time to watch the EU devolve into chaos, and say, like Hungary, no, thank you. And for FP mag’s ridiculous assertions – no, however thanks for being transsparent, that’s more than one gets from the taqiyya of Islam.

Nice summary Westman.
The first two paragraphs are honestly enough to tell you everything you need to know about the rest of article. From your post, it seems that can be extended to the majority of the magazine too.

I’m not sure how he is defining “American” in order to be so sure that the President’s twitter messages are the opposite, but perhaps he is using the Obama years as his baseline?
The statement about the plan to “strip health care insurance” really sealed the deal so far as i’m concerned. As i understand it, and please correct me my US friends, what he is referring to is the Trump promise to remove the law forcing individuals to purchase insurance from certain private companies, right?
If that’s the case, to describe the re-liberalization of choice in matters of personal health as the government ‘taking away’ people’s health care, is such a bizarre twist of logic, that only the brain of the most distantly progressed leftist could possibly contain it without meltdown.
Westman says
” ..what he is referring to is the Trump promise to remove the law forcing individuals to purchase insurance from certain private companies, right? ”
Exactly right, LeftisruiningCanada. The left can omit and lie as smoothly as an Imam. All Trump did was give choice back to those faced with an IRS-collected fine if they didn’t buy insurance.
The US may be the first nation to force its citizens to buy a product from an approved list. That is very close to the corruption that occurs in bannana republics. The only difference I see is that government officials were not allowed to skim directly off the premiums. I imagine there were a number of campaign contributions…
LeftisruiningCanada says
Ok, thanks, glad im not misrepresenting that issue.
Seems like a novel variation on a theme what the obama care plan did. Usually socialists force citizens to buy from a list of just one approved source – themselves.

Foreign Policy on Trump’s retweets of videos showing Muslims being violent: “This is how every genocide begins”
………………………
Really? Where were the videos (or film clips) of Jews throwing people off rooftops, desecrating churches, and beating up crippled gentile boys?
As usual, the claim that noticing that Muslims are brutalizing us means–somehow–a threat to them, instead.
This is known as projection.
LeftisruiningCanada says
That’s what im interested in finding out – what did the NSDAP and those who supported it, think the Jews were doing? So much energy was focused on eliminating them, first using legal means to remove Jewish people from ever increasing areas of public life, then in actually eliminating them physically, that you would expect there to be a great number of documented examples of their atrocities.
But there aren’t.
Same for the Armenians in Anatolia. What exactly did they do to encourage their own destruction?
However, we have an internet full of evidence showing one islamic inspired attack after another after another. It’s been going on for decades. And will happen today. And tomorrow.
Chand says
I agree that there is no parallel between the allegations against the Jews and the ones against violent Muslims. The Jews were totally innocent and yet received that terrifying treatment from European (Christians) during the Third Reich (and earlier in many European lands). The danger here is greater, isn’t it, that innocent Muslims will face the same, because of the acts of a few Jihadi Muslims bent on horrible mass murders and such?
Now the excuse is greater to mete out the same treatment to them as against the Jews as Muslims really are carrying out horrible atrocities against innocents. Add to that the fact that most Muslims are non-white, composed of minority races, while the Jews were mostly white.
Agreed that the religion of Islam harbors great dangers and potential for great harm against non-Muslims. So then what’s expected of a Muslim?
He/she should renounce Islam?
How? How does one renounce one’s religion one is born into?
What are the trappings and symbols of religion?
Say Mr. Abdul Rahman, ( I am using this person as an example and could equally mean a female) renounces Islam. What should he do?
No longer wear his skull cap and keep a beard (wear a chador or hijab). Suppose he stops wearing them. Is that enough?
Won’t he be identified as a Muslim by his name? So he needs to change his name?
Abdul might and then he’d be more relieved.
What if he doesn’t? Does he have a right to keep his original name in spite of renouncing his religion? When he fills a form does he tick ‘atheist’? Or should he mention ‘ex-Muslim’ every time he uses his name. Like PBUH (Peace Be Upon Him) after Muhammad, he might say OWHR (One Who Has Renounced) or PBUM (Peace Be Upon Me).
So what next?
Should he publicly declare it……….to whom, how? By a megaphone?
Or should he organize rallies against the evils of Islam, with his like minded ex-Muslims and then take pics of that on his smartphone and keep that as evidence that he did do something constructive to criticize his bad religion? Would that convince people that he’s a non-Islamic, ex-Muslim now?
Well, all Muslims aren’t like Ayaan Hirsi Ali and others. Maybe some of them face real dangers from fundamentalists and fear punishment as apostates. Maybe they don’t even know where to begin about criticizing their own religion. There might be many Muslims who have renounced Islam (or at least the despicable aspects of it…………in their own view) in their hearts and minds and don’t wear that publicly.
But the constant harping and criticizing of Islam and the Koran and Muhammad for every petty crime committed by a Muslim, say a murder of passion, an escape attempt from a prison, a deviant case of bestiality, etc., is like saying that all Muslims should be ashamed of their religion. Every wrong act of a Muslim is being immediately blamed on their religion, relevant Koranic passages are quoted and then the blame is traced back to their seventh century Arabian prophet and then he is cursed and abused as if he is a magical, time-traveling ghost directing every Muslim to act thus.
Should every Muslim be ashamed of their religion? Should every Muslim be shamed? Blaming Islam, Koran and Muhammad for every wrong act by a Muslim is doing just that.
Jews were blamed just because they were born into the Judaic religion. All Muslims are being blamed for their religion too because of the crimes of some among them.
I agree there is a problem with the current wave of unwanted Muslim refugees and migrants, ‘creeping Islamization’, a huge problem with fundamentalism and an existential problem with the jihad of the Islamo-Arab-Fascists. But apart from sounding a bit alarmist at this point, what Daniel Altman is saying is not far from the truth. But then one can’t expect much better from Trump, an insensitive and rude human. Nothing surprising really form one who called Mexicans ‘rapists’ without specifying, painting all of them with one brush stroke.
He might even be a borderline nutcase, according to some psychiatrists.
andra says
Why should Muslims not be ashamed of their religion which allows murdering non-muslims and destroying other cultures? Why should they not work on reforming their religion if they do not want to follow the violent demands of their belief? Why is everything that makes work asked too much. As long as most muslims stay quiet, as long as too many muslims in Europe say they want Sharia law in Europe and as Long as Muslims stick to calling themselves the true victims of jihad I will not trust them easily.

My vote is a definite “Yes”. Once you’re free and non-threatened you should drop it like a pile of OCD garbage. To be frank, why stink up the house when it’s clear there’s nothing worth salvaging?
And the “holiness quotient” of a man or his religion resides largely on choice of ethics and these can be impartially evaluated best by ALL the humans affected. To do less is just to cling to a security blanket.
LeftisruiningCanada says
The main problem in your argument seems to be that you keep drawing a parallel between Christian culture and the Bible, and Islamic culture and Koran.
There is no such parallel.
A muslim harming an unbeliever has every support he could want from the koran and the life of their prophet.
A Christian has everything telling him NOT to harm anyone, especially an unbeliever.
You do see why what you call “petty crimes” (!?) are therefore meaningful to us right?
LeftisruiningCanada says
Also:
—Now the excuse is greater to mete out the same treatment to them as against the Jews as Muslims —really are carrying out horrible atrocities against innocents. Add to that the fact that most Muslims —are non-white, composed of minority races, while the Jews were mostly white.
No, it isn’t.
The Jewish scriptures don’t recommend the subjugation of unbelievers, nor the death of apostates. Left alone, Jewish populations don’t do anything like what we see muslim populations doing in countries that have taken them in. There was no threat from Jews, as you said.
We know that islam is at war with the west (and anyone else either not muslim, or the wrong kind of muslim).
There is a difference between genocide against a true minority that hasn’t harmed you, and doesn’t have a long scripture backed history of harming you, and facing the threat of a real and active self declared enemy.
The comparison is bogus.
It’s the same as happened very recently with the attempted comparison between the Blacks and the homosexuals during the whole gay marriage thing. That was bogus too. But it’s a nice way to shut down people who want to talk about the real issues.
—-He/she should renounce Islam?
That would be best for everyone. Why would you hold on to such a vile set of beliefs, once you understood the truth about the koran and muhammad?
—–How? How does one renounce one’s religion one is born into?
That’s an interesting way to ask the questions Chand. How does a person renounce anything they no longer believe in? By changing their speech, actions, appearance etc, to conform with their new set of beliefs of course. It may also be useful to make it clear to ones friends and family that such a change has happened, and explain clearly to them why.
The problem with islam of course, is that doing so can be very dangerous, even if the country you happen to be living in is not an islamic majority nation. Do you notice how that’s not an issue with Biblical Christianity. The worse you would ever get, even from cult groups way out on the fringes, is to be shunned.
——–Say Mr. Abdul Rahman…..renounces Islam. What should he do?

I’m really not sure why you are pursuing this strawman line of argument Chand. No on JW, and it seems that we would be the ones to have strong views on the matter, would agree that an ex-muslim need go so far as your example.
—-So what next?
—–Should he publicly declare it……….to whom, how? By a megaphone?
——Or should he organize rallies against the evils of Islam, with his like minded ex-Muslims and then —-take pics of that on his smartphone and keep that as evidence that he did do something —-constructive to criticize his bad religion? Would that convince people that he’s a non-Islamic, —–exMuslim now?
It depends why the man left islam. If he merely lost faith in the existence of any God whatsoever, his post-exit behavior would be different to someone who left because they finally saw islam for the evil it really is, don’t you think.
The fact is, many ex-muslims have left for the latter reason, and have gone on to help many people in the west understand the danger of islam and jihad.
—Maybe some of them face real dangers from fundamentalists and fear punishment as apostates. —Maybe they don’t even know where to begin about criticizing their own religion. There might be many —Muslims who have renounced Islam (or at least the despicable aspects of it…………in their own —view) in their hearts and minds and don’t wear that publicly.
Of course many do face those dangers, and not so many have the ability to flee to safer countries or employ personal security. Islam is skilled at rubbing out dissent, and empowers those who want to protect islam by violent means.
I feel great pity for people who realize the evil of islam but cannot get away from it. They are then fully aware of the nature of the trap they are in, and know they must continue to appear like a good muslim, or end up bathed in acid, beheaded, stoned or stabbed. Nice ey?
But what encourages us here Chand, is that this hypothetical person is one less terrorist in potentia.
—But the constant harping and criticizing of Islam and the Koran and Muhammad for every petty —crime committed by a Muslim, say a murder of passion, an escape attempt from a prison, a deviant —-case of bestiality, etc., is like saying that all Muslims should be ashamed of their religion. Chand, i think you misunderstand. There is the danger of falling in the way of thinking that you describe, but i’m not sure that many here at JW have. Personally, as a Christian, i recognize the fallen nature of every human, and know full well that people of every ‘tribe tongue and nation” all commit crimes of similar barbarity, though at different rates statistically.
But linking it back to islam is exactly the point. Islamic culture is based on the koran and the life of mohammad, and even if you aren’t a religious muslim those same values are what you grow up absorbing. It’s the same in historically Christian nations. The results are very different.
And yes, i do believe that a muslim, once they fully understand the koran and sunnah, should be ashamed of it, and abandon it for the dead end death cult it is.
And, as a Christian, i can rationally tie the behavior of muhammads modern day followers right back to him, because they are all influenced and guided by the same spirit of evil which first took hold of him by the neck in that desert cave.
—I agree there is a problem with the current wave of unwanted Muslim refugees and migrants, —‘creeping Islamization’, a huge problem with fundamentalism and an existential problem with the —jihad of the Islamo-Arab-Fascists.
It’s good that we have common ground on that, although as you would imagine, i’m convinced that islam is the problem, not that it has been ‘hijacked’ into become the problem.
— But apart from sounding a bit alarmist at this point, what Daniel Altman is saying is not far from the —truth
While i would say he quite far from the truth. The comparisons are all wrong.
Altman would have that : Muslim Jihadis = Extremist Jews, “Peaceful Muslims = Jews , “Far Right” = Nazis. or something like that.
I think the more realistic version would be: Muslim Jihadis = Nazis/Brown Shirts, Peaceful Muslims = German People, “Far-Right” = those warning against the Nazis
—But then one can’t expect much better from Trump, an insensitive and rude human.
He may be somewhat insensitive, and some may think he’s rude, but that depends on where you’re standing doesn’t it. Obama and HRC are both very well described by those terms too, they just had a smoother way of going about it. Tell me how ‘sensitive’ it is to love the death of the unborn.
Those psychiatrists are probably just the older, professional, version of all those melting snowflakes who are still crying themselves to sleep ‘coz trump wun’.

@Chand
Should every Muslim be ashamed of his/her religion? I don’t know if the quote originated with her, but I agree with Pamela Geller when she says “I don’t care if you worship a stone as long as you don’t throw it at me.” That said, Islam is a supremacist ideology has some truly ugly elements (e.g. death penalty for apostasy/blasphemy, homosexuality; virulent misogyny) that any decent person should find repugnant.
Certainly no one here advocates violence against Muslims (or anyone else). Part of the solution here in the US may be to strip “political Islam” of First Amendment protection.
I feel for the plight of individual Muslims, but the ideology: Islam, quite literally threatens the entire world.

If only Daniel Altman’s ancestors cared so much for the persecuted Jews of Nazi Germany and Europe as he does for the Muslim migrants who persecute the Jews. Give me a break.
A good number of them probably agree with the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion”.
