Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Germany: “Martyr Museum” includes Mohamed Atta and Paris jihad murderer with Martin Luther King and Socrates

Dec 5, 2017 8:07 am By Robert Spencer

This is Europe in its death throes, unwilling or unable to make basic moral distinctions. As it celebrates Mohamed Atta and Ismael Omar Mostefai as heroes, it can be sure of one thing: it will get many, many more Mohamed Attas and Ismael Omar Mostefais.

“Fury as ‘martyr Museum’ in Germany includes Paris jihadist who stormed the Bataclan, killing 90 people,” by Sophie Inge, Mailonline, December 4, 2017 (thanks to David):

A Berlin art installation dedicated to ‘martyrs’ has prompted outrage by including one of the Paris jihadist attackers alongside the likes of Martin Luther King and Socrates, with the French embassy calling the display ‘deeply shocking’.

The so-called ‘Martyr Museum’ by a Danish art collective shows the portraits of 20 people throughout history who ‘died for their convictions’ accompanied by short biographies.

The exhibition includes an image of French jihadist Ismael Omar Mostefai, one of three gunmen and suicide bombers who stormed the Bataclan concert venue in Paris in 2015, killing 90 people.

On display next to his portrait is an entrance ticket to the Bataclan.

Also sharing a wall with US civil rights icon King and Greek philosopher Socrates is Mohammed Atta, the pilot who slammed a passenger plane into one of New York’s World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001.

The week long installation by the art group, The Other Eye of the Tiger, was inaugurated last Wednesday at the Kunstquartier Bethanien art centre.

It sparked howls of outrage in German and French media and on social networks.

The French embassy in Berlin expressed ‘consternation’ and said it found the decision to include the attackers ‘deeply shocking’.

‘While keeping in mind our attachment to the freedom of artistic creation, we strongly condemn the confusion here between martyrdom and terrorism,’ it said in a statement.

But the art collective defended the show, saying that it condemned any kind of violence or terrorism and that it was merely taking a wide look at the usage of the term ‘martyr’….

An earlier version of the ‘Martyr Museum’ in Copenhagen in 2016 also caused controversy, with critics filing a police complaint accusing the artists of ‘encouraging terror’.

I posted this a few days ago here. Liberals are stupid: they think a word (martyr) means that there is the same concept at its base. Liberals have no values because they think everything has the same value.

The exhibition might expose the evil stupidity of liberal mainstream culture to more people and thus might do some good.

Yes, I saw the video myself.
Three or four times the actor and guide, Morten Hee Andersen, uses the expression “we have a reconstruction here” to the amusement of his audience. What “we have here” is a deconstruction of the word “martyr” and that’s the key to the exhibition – maybe inspired by Jacques Derrida?

Such “art exhibitions” are simply awful, and show sick minds at work… May God protect us from their influence…Perhaps they are an essential part of Leftism and Political Correctness.
In my opinion , we should show our strong disapproval for them in all nonviolent ways possible, and, of course, not to give such “artists” one cent of our money…

Stephen was the first Christian martyr and here is how his face was perceived, Acts 6:

“All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.”

Try then to imagine the demonic contorted faces of Muslim “martyrs” and listen to their hateful and resentful battlecry “Allahu Akbar!”, while terrorizing and killing their victims — ?

And hear then some moronic Danish artists ask the question, if not these two kind of martyrs essentially are one and the same thing, i.e.: they serve one and the same God? – maliciously and perfidiously assert with a slimy voice: Well, we just wanted to raise the question in an artistic and artful way – what can be wrong with that?

“Europe is in its death throes” :certainly.

The forces of Globalism, islamism, leftie liberalism and treasonous dhimmitwit politicians,a corrupt and biased media…have all seen to that.

Despite the best efforts of an heretical pope(to undermine Catholic belief) and lazy clergy (to undermine Christianity) in Europe and elsewhere,Christianity will not disappear.

You know that the New Testament clearly predicted an apparent decline in Christianity?

“many will give up their faith at that time”
    Matthew 24 v 10

“But will the Son of man find faith when He Returns?”
    Luke 18 v 8

So that is precisely WHY ,if you are Christian, that you must keep your faith despite being betrayed by popes and clergy.

    The justice of God:-

It is the separation of the wheat from the chaff that will be fully realized when God’s winnowing plan(aka the Apocalypse of St John)is commenced.

Biblical Prophecy is good news for the repentant and the faithful(while it is ..bad news for the unrepentant and unfaithful because they won’t get away with it)
{it is also incidentally, relevant to the Jews and Israel:ALL the OT prophecies are certain to be fulfilled..)

    In fact,the Apocalypse is basically summarized as the Parable of the Net {Matthew 13 v 47-50}

You can’t seriously expect God to DO NOTHING about all the evil in the world!!

Some artists are sterile phonies who, lacking any real creativity, have no choice but to rely on shock, disgust, offense, or other manipulations of peoples emotions. They should have the freedom to do that, but everyone else retains the freedom to call them out as the sellout hacks they are and not go to their asinine shows.

No doubt they are pretending to be “brave” by putting Muhammad Atta in the same category as Socrates and Martin Luther King. But that just shows these artists to be superficial phonies who you can be sure would never dare to show a cartoon of Muhammad or publicly test Islamic taboos, since that would take actual, not feigned, courage. Never forget Charlie Hebdo, Mollie Norris, and so many others. Whatever good Muslims might add to non-Muslim societies, it’s not worth the kind of thing that happened at Charlie Hebdo. It’s a censorship by terror that is ongoing now in Europe and even in the U.S., and only gets worse, of course, as the Muslim population grows.

I agree, eduardo. It is sickening to put Muhammad Atta in the same category as Socrates. Such bizarre logic. I think putting Atta in the group is really about the reflexive, loony anti-American (anti-the West) attitude of the types of people who have made up this crappy list. The people making this list would have this psychotic anti-American attitude, so, to them a scumbag like Atta would be some kind of hero. I agree with the point TKF makes below about Islam’s attachment to murderous violence being made clearer by garbage like this list of “martyrs”. A commenter further up mentions that adding outrageous names to the list would get publicity, through the outrage, so maybe that’s another reason for Atta’s name being added. The people making the list have a very sick perspective on things. That’s the only message I get from it.

    Dec 5, 2017 at 6:08 pm

So, after following Benedict’s helpfully provided link above, and having the time to do so, i’ve taken the Martyr Tour by watching the 1 hour and 6 minute video hosted on the artists website.

    http://theothereye.dk/portfolio_page/martyr-museum/

Firstly, whatever we think of the viewpoint, we probably can’t fault too much the talent of the guide in the video, Morton Hee Anderson. He’s engaging and well spoken, with a great manner about him.

The martyr museum looks to be set in an old industrial facility of some kind. Possibly even some kind of abattoir or something, im not sure. It’s not a nice looking place.

Each martyr is given it’s own room, or side of a room. One of them is in a large walk in refrigeration chamber. There are usually a collection of ‘artifacts’ connected to each story, including photographs, objects of clothing, etc, along with use of light and sound effects. The guide narrates throughout. Sometimes the audience are asked to wear headphones, sometimes not.

The tour starts off with a quick introduction asking the question of what is a martyr. Nothing too revolutionary.

The first martyr is Stephen, of Acts 7 fame. The story told goes far beyond the NT version, likely drawn from the various traditions which tend to surround Biblical personalities. The guide dramatically recreates the scene of his stoning while telling the story, and involves the audience.

The second station features artifacts representing 10 Rabbis who were murdered (horribly) under the orders of Emperor Hadrian.

Third is a Catholic Priest called Maximilian Kolbe, who was arrested, sent to Auschwitz. He volunteered to take the place of another man chosen at random to punishment, and eventually starved to death in a cell along with 9 other inmates. Actually he was killed by injection, because he didn’t die like the others, and the guards needed the cell back.
This was actually a very good way to tell this priests story of martyrdom. The guide led the group into the confines of a large darkened refrigerator, lay down on the floor, and slowly, quietly spoke the story, using his microphone to transmit his voice to the audiences headphones.

Fourth was an interesting look at the Heavens Gate cult that killed themselves in an LA mansion. The guide did a recreation of the groups suicide message video.

Fifth was a hallway featuring several depictions of a series of martyrs: Socrates, Apollonia, Sumia, a Shia muslim guy i couldn’t catch the name of, Olaf the Holy a king of Norway, and a scientist who was apparently murdered for pushing Heliocentrism back in the day.

Sixth station was a longish telling about a woman, Jenet “long russian surname”, a 17 year old female Chechen who became a suicide bomber on the moscow underground metro. The audience are given a dramatic recreation of her on the train, with cuts back to when her husband was killed by russian police in there apartment.

The guide did speak a little about her involvement in the “Martyrs Brigade” group that was fighting in Chechnya at that time. Her husband was also said to be a fighter with that group. As with the other martyrs, the guide gave all of the information from the martyrs perspective, calling them freedom fighters etc, while not highlighting the jihad inspired nature of the conflict.

There was a disturbing scene where the guide reenacted Jenet licking the blood of her gunned down husband from the floor of their apartment, after he was dragged away leaving a blood trail.

He also made it clear that she waited untill the train she blew up was boarding new passengers before she let her bomb off.

The guide then quickly mentioned two other very young ‘martyrs’,

Seventh is about a Japanese Kamikaze pilot named Yukio Seki. Very short piece.

Eighth is about a Buddhist called Tikawan Duk who burned himself to death as a protest during the Vietnam war. The guide dramatically recreates this while telling the story.

Ninth is a nearly ten minute telling of the Bataclan masascre. It begins at 53:00 in the video. I think this was the longest single feature of the tour. The audience are led into a room containing glass cased artifacts and tall standing mirrors. The lights flash and change color to simulate the night club. Music plays on the headphones. The guide arranges the audience around the room, then recreates a scene from the massacre where one of the jihadis gives some speech blaming the west for what he’s doing, then detonates his bomb vest just as the police are said to be entering.

After this, in an adjoining space, the guide gives a short speech about the various definitions of what a martyr is. He quotes several, from muslims, christians, social scientists, and ends with his own, which is probably the most important for us to understand their perspective:

“…What a martyr is depends on where you stand, and which direction you’re looking. Humans have always been used as a symbol for religious and political goals, that the concept of the martyr has been used and abused, but that whatever else, we know that the concept of the martyr has great power”

He then mention a “Future Martyrs” exhibition that people are invited to view, but it is not shown in the video. Pity, as that would have given useful insight into the groups current preoccupations.

    ————-

Overall, it wasn’t bad as a production. There were a few, from my perspective, genuine martyrs included, whose stories were well told. I mostly liked the way the guide acted during the dramatic parts.

It was interesting to note that, if i remember correctly, every single muslim featured as a martyr either killed himself while killing others, or was killed by another muslim for religious reasons.

Every martyr’s story was told from that martyr’s perspective, however bizarre it may seem to us. The islamic martyrdom stories especially so, of course. How anyone could regard them as honorable martyrs is understandable, when we understand islam even a little, though utterly disgusting.

The guides ending statement is pretty much what we would expect: Not judgemental, relativistic to the extreme, and leave us standing on shifting sands. Seeking to answer was a martyr is, they have only answered that they have no answer. They have no position they believe in enough to enable them to make value judgments, even about the nature of a religion which leads 17 year old widows to suicide bomb a train full of uninvolved civilians.

It’s a fair representation of the moral situation in European universities, elected bodies and trendy wine bars. We make a good show, with decent presentation and special effects…but there’s nothing definite underneath; there’s nothing to say. The spiritual and philosophical foundations are gone. All that remains is lot of a once proud and confident continent is a lot of wonderful stone facades. And even they are crumbling.

Yes Benedict, and it would need more looking into the groups other output and statements to figure it out. The guy could be a raving Marxist, or Antifa or combination of other things. Or he could just be a nice chap who wants everyone to get along by becoming ‘the other”.

They for sure knew this would stir up some controversy for them, but who doesn’t want free press? Artists’ gotta live after all.

My take, having not seen the display in person or in totality, is that it’s just a fairly simple though well executed, student-like discursive essay given a bit of acting and lighting frills.

It would have been nice to see where that larger collage of images from the photos in the article above came in. Was probably from the ‘future martyrs’ room.

And he did do the Kolbe display well….he’d do well with more of that kind of thing, especially with regards to more Holocaust tales, as he has a nice way of making it meaningful in the telling.

The art group that created this exhibit never really explains what they are trying to accomplish. But, they link to a number of articles that draw their own conclusions. This is from an NPR article about the museum, quoting a Danish politician:

“”It’s an ignorant, stupid exhibition without any deeper knowledge. But they have the right to do it,” says Ahrendtsen, the Danish People’s Party spokesman. “If I don’t like it, I don’t have to go.””

    https://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2016/06/07/480305537/denmarks-martyr-museum-places-socrates-and-suicide-bombers-side-by-side)

Nice to know that not all Danes are fooled by this nonsense. There is no equivalency of experience between Dr. Martin Luther King, who quite literally died for his beliefs, while injuring absolutely no one, and the murderous Mohamed Atta, who has the blood of thousands on his hands and soul. One is a martyr, and one is a killer.

Obviously, these artists are just doing what other artists do….seeking attention any way they can.

This demonstrates where the so-called moderates’ sympathies and loyalties really lie – firmly with the terrorists, who in their eyes are martyrs. This is how Islam will wear down and subjugate Europe – through the use of various fronts and strategies, applying one tactic after another. This is another example of non-violent jihad. Violent jihad is staged by terrorists and non-violent jihad is staged by so-called ‘moderates’. The end goal is the same: eventual Islamisation of Europe, with support from gullible ‘leaders’ like Merkel and May.

The west needs to wake up before it is too late. I am shocked that enlightened westerners glorify a filthy ideology of islamic terror

Very few do. Please don’t take this as the norm in the West–thankfully, it is not.

The article below is a list of Muslims who died on 9/11 – how can Muhammad Atta be a “Martyr?” No he is a low life scum of the earth – hope he rots in hell for all eternity.

How do we not know that these were apostates, or in some other way had compromised by associating with unbelievers?

I’m not trying to pick a fight, or belittle their deaths, but how would Mr Atta think about it?

      The dishonest “Muslim 2017”

The article below is a list of Muslims who died on 9/11 – how can Muhammad Atta be a “Martyr?” No he is a low life scum of the earth – hope he rots in hell for all eternity.
      ………………………

Pious Muslims murder other Muslims in Jihad all the time, as “Muslim 2017” no doubt knows.

It is accepted in Islam that if they were lax Muslims, “heretics”, or “apostates” that they deserved to die, and it they were pious Muslims who would have approved of the Jihad terror attack that they will go straight to paradise.

Muslims were not the main targets of this Jihad terror attack–it was Infidels.

“Muslim 2017’s” claim that no Muslim could possibly regard these Jihadists as Martyrs is obviously absurd–they are lauded over most of Dar-al-Islam as the “Magnificent 19”.

Another point–note that *only* issue “Muslim 2017” has with 9/11 is that these Jihadists also killed a handful of their own coreligionists. He cares nothing for all the “filthy Kuffar” who died. *Ugh*.

Sometime I wonder when these outrageous and disgusting events occur that glorify evil, that these events are done on purpose, to have a calculated demoralizing effect on a population that is getting worn down by political warfare. We are in a dangerous time by Islamic jihad attacks. These fires, massive slaughter, vehicular jihad, throwing out words like racist at people who speak about the truth, then bringing out sexual abuse at a time with outrageous political vengence, and little verification, claims to eventually try to use everything to uproot an election. Is this the hidden purpose of the entire art exhibit, and all the resistance and hostility to add more insanity. What is happening in the U.S now can derail the step toward freeing ourselves from the left and the jihad culture to bring sharia. They attack Pres. Trump, place commercials to degrade the President, cause disruption to feed helplessness exhaustion, accusing politicians of sexual abuse to get them to leave and insert a muslim political candidate. I am sick of the upheavals deliberate resistance that daily bring unnecessary investigation. The atmosphere needs to calm down and bring civility and allow Trump to a some peace while dealing with massive problems.
