In an age when deceit and falsehood are taken for granted as axiomatic and immovable, all it takes is one man or woman strong enough to speak the truth and stand for it, and the house of cards of lies and disinformation starts to tumble down. When Ronald Reagan said that the Soviet Union was an “evil empire” that would soon come to an end, the political class was appalled and embarrassed. This rube was upsetting all their arrangements. He risked angering the Soviets and plunging the world into a new world war. When he demanded that Mr. Gorbachev tear down that wall, he did it again.
But he was right. When one man stood up to evil, its weakness was revealed, and others began to stand against it as well. And within a few years, the Soviet Union was gone, to the abject confusion and astonishment of those who just a few years before that had been dismissing Reagan as an ignorant yahoo and confidently predicting that the Soviet Union would be a player on the world stage for generations to come.
This is another moment like that one. President Trump, if he stands firm, has a chance to challenge the whole “Palestinian” narrative of lies and deceit that the world has accepted as axiomatically true for decades. He could send this house of cards tumbling down, and be the herald of a new dawn of freedom, as Reagan was.
If he stands firm.
“African states may follow Trump Jerusalem embassy move: Tanzania’s speaker,” i24 News, December 5, 2017 (thanks to the Geller Report):
While the Trump administration has been hit with a barrage of warnings that is stands to throw the Middle East into chaos if it recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the possible move has garnered support among Israel’s allies in Africa.
In interviews with i24NEWS on Tuesday, parliamentary leaders from Tanzania and Ghana visiting Israel to celebrate their collaboration as part of the “Power Africa” initiative, expressed support for an American policy shift on the holy city.
Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Job Ndugai, began his interview by emphasizing the importance of being in Jerusalem, where the Israeli parliament sits, and later expressed his outright support of Israel’s capital as an appropriate place for foreign embassies.
“It is a very commendable decision to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. I believe it will be followed suit by several African countries, Tanzania included, to move said quarters from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, because we believe where the parliament is — I am a speaker of parliament — then the government should be there and embassies should be there too.”
When asked about the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the speaker of Ghana’s parliament Aaron Mike Oquaye also affirmed that country’s support for Israel on the issue, saying, “whatever Israel wants, we in Ghana will go by that, because that is essentially an internal decision.”…

Indeed, Dum Spiro. For doing the right thing, President Trump will be tested like never before. He has already shown great courage and conviction, and I hope and pray he stands firm and continues to do what’s right.

“In an age when deceit and falsehood are taken for granted as axiomatic and immovable, all it takes is one man or woman strong enough to speak the truth and stand for it, and the house of cards of lies and disinformation starts to tumble down.” Very aptly put and an excellent example of Reagan doing just this. He pushed against an open door and that may be all it takes in standing up to jihadism and Islamism.

Maybe once or twice a generation an extraordinary spectacle of propaganda crashing down can be seen by the good in the world. We may be on the cusp of just that.

I hope so, Georg!

The empty threats from the Arab-Muslim world will end up looking like what they are: it’ll be business as usual and Trump will have proven that it’s all BS.
This may be the beginning of the end of the Western world living in fear of Islamists. That’s what this is really about – it’s not really about Jerusalem and changing nameplates around on an embassy.
if so, Trump will be as great a president as Reagan.

First, the US broke ranks with history in what can hardly be described as anything other than miraculous in defeating the will for it of the British Empire. But it’s worth considering their Magna Carta was evidently imbued in the American soul — perhaps more than it was in the Brits’ (kind of like the joke about Catholic converts being “More Catholic than the Pope”). From that point forward we managed something unique and unprecedented for the world: A people governing themselves. As happens in the world from time to time and place to place, there was a conglomeration of geniuses who in this instance birthed a Constitution still unmatched in its foresight and righteousness.
Subsequently, the United States of America played an integral role in banishing from this earth Nazism and then virtually on its own brought to an end Soviet Communism (we’re dealing with a nasty relic vestige today, but even its days may be few). Perhaps on the order of a generation of so we will add to our Nation’s CV the demise of Islamic terrorism. Whatever faults we have, there is nothing and no place like us. A beacon to the world and a City Upon a Hill. As they say of the Marines: No better friend and no worse enemy.
Custos Custodum says
Magna Carta lives in the spirit of some Americans.
The confidence of standing up to absolute authority is closely associated with the right to bear arms.
Without arms, people relapse into abject serfdom and become the victim of aggressive barbarians. This age-old story is again playing out before our very eyes.
Carolyne says
I have often said that I am disappointed in the British, the land of Magna Carta, that they lay down their arms on the command of their government and are now surrendering to Islam.

Cousin David: try not to despair. (I say ‘cousin’, because although I am an Aussie, one set of forebears – great-great-grandparents – came from Germany).
If you identify as a Christian at all: PRAY AND FAST throughout this season of Advent. Pray for your country. Read the Psalms; say them aloud; pray. *I* pray for Germany, the land of some of my ancestors: for liberation from dhimmitude; for life and birth and restoration. Attend church. Look for a church that is not deceived about Islam. Many are; but not all; so look around carefully.
Think about what you might do to awaken your friends. Is PEGIDA still going? If so: join them. Pray that someone – more than one – may be raised up in the political realm, to defy Islam and reverse Islamisation. The more people you warn and awaken, the likelier it is that somewhere amongst them will be potential *leaders*.
Create a new ‘White Rose Society’ and pledge to work to warn people… and to build networks of resistance and solidarity.
mortimer says
This is a real PSYCHODRAMA and the only way to stop it is to recognize Jerusalem which is Israel’s self-declared capital.
Having the embassy in Tel Aviv is nonsensical, because the government meets in Jerusalem.

And Itace is lying through his teeth when he claims that Tanzania is majority Muslim. It is NOT.
From the CIA world factbook, on Tanzania, ‘religion’:
“Christian 61.4%, Muslim 35.2%, folk religion 1.8%, other 0.2%, unaffiliated 1.4%”.
Tanzania is majority CHRISTIAN. The Muslims are a large minority, yes; but most of them are concentrated in Zanzibar (an island) and in a section of the adjacent coast. I’d advise the non-Muslim-majority part of Tanzania to cut loose from Zanzibar, then remove all the other mohammedans from mainland Tanzania to Zanzibar, then fortify their boundaries against any future mohammedan incursions.
Djandel says
I believe this issue is a “minor” for Mr President Trump. I pray for his consistency.
Ibrahim itace muhammed says
That CIA report is fake .It is Muslims who constitute 61% of Tanzanian population while the rest are Christians and their Co-religionists the animists who Accepted Christianity through colonial Christian missionaries asking converts to close their eyes when they opened it they found that they lost their freedom and their resources stolen. It is not only the zanzibaris who are Muslims in Tanzania, many black Tangayikans are Muslims. Christians dominate politics in Tanzania for Julius Nyerere’s revolutionary ideology cherished by Muslim population.
Carol says
There’s a movie called Forbidden Territory which deals with Stanley and his search for Livingstone. Zanzibar was the largest Muslim slave trading market in east Africa and (if the movie hasn’t distorted history too much) it appears Livingstone’s writings (published with the help of Stanley back in England) eventually caused this market to be shut down. Livingstone had once witnessed an attack on a village and it horrified him.
Now Ibrahim, we don’t want to go through this same kind of scenario all over again would we??
