Meanwhile, where are the prosecutions? Nothing is apparently being done to bring justice to his accusers. Would trying Ramadan be “Islamophobic”?
“Tariq Ramadan persona non grata in Qatar,” translated from “Tariq Ramadan persona non grata au Qatar,” by Ian Hamel, Mondafrique, January 28, 2018:
Touched by two complaints of rape and a multitude of testimonies describing a private life that was at least dissolute, the Swiss Islamologist, Tariq Ramadan, was particularly discreet.
Tariq Ramadan, suspended by the University of Oxford, was unable to withdraw to Qatar, where he still heads the Islamic Law and Ethics Research Center (CILE). “The break was smooth and especially without communication between Ramadan and the Emirate. He was simply asked not to set foot in the Gulf,” says a political scientist, a specialist in the Gulf countries, including the organization of the Muslim Brotherhood, reporting from Doha.
Clearly, Qatar, faced with the hostility of its neighbors (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain) since June 2017 does not really want to be represented abroad by such a controversial intellectual.
Falling popularity
Even before the scandal erupted, Tariq Ramadan was no longer in the odor of sanctity in Doha. Faced with a real decline in popularity in the French suburbs because of his links with an oil monarchy and extreme wealth, the Islamologist tended to distance himself — at least in the press — from Qatar. This adept at double-talk had declared on the program of Jean-Jacques Bourdin on RMC: “Neither Qatar is close to me, nor am I close to Qatar.” This was not appreciated in Doha, especially since his professorship of contemporary Islamic sciences at Oxford is sponsored by “His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani,” the father of the current Emir. Indeed, Tariq Ramadan, a French teacher in a college in Geneva until 2004, does not have the usual qualifications to teach in a university.
Open doors
While Saudi Arabia and the Emirates denounce the Muslim Brotherhood, Qatar welcomes them, starting with the most famous of them, Youssef Qaradawi. However, since an informal pact sealed in 1999 with the leadership, the Brothers no longer have structures in the Emirate. On the other hand, they keep open doors with the Al-Jazeera chain and the ministry of worship.
StellaSaidSo says
Enfin, even the Muslim Brotherhood has had a gut-full of the pretentious grandson of its founder.
mortimer says
Tariq Ramadan is a dingdong who believes Islam can be reformed and modernized.
How do you reform what does not need reforming… since Islam is ‘perfect, eternal and complete’.
If one changes ‘perfection’, then it is no longer perfect or we imply that it was not already ‘perfect’ or ‘eternal’ to begin with.
If Islam is not ‘eternal’, but temporary and subject to constant changes, then it is false and should be ABANDONED as unreformable and stuck in an ETERNAL RUT.
StellaSaidSo says
No, Tariq Ramadan PRETENDS that he thinks that Islam can be reformed and modernised. He has built his career on this pretence. But it is fake. The truth is that he is as hard-line an Islamist as his grandfather, Hasan al-Bana. The French saw thru Tariq years ago. Some call him ‘the viper’ because he speaks with a forked tongue.
bonnie louise loranger says
Very true. People should read “Brother Tariq”by Caroline Fouret
Savvy Kafir says
That’s my impression, Stella. I think he’s a slick taqiyya artist, not an actual reformer or “moderate”. And now that he’s been revealed to be a brutal, misogynistic savage, that impression seems to be validated.
“The viper” is a perfect descriptor for him.
lebel says
This is wrong. He does think that Islam can be reformed and this is why he is viewed as an infidel by hardliners.
Save Europe says
Correct! He’s a faux reformer espousing taqqiya.
gravenimage says
lebel wants us to swallow Ramadan’s Taqiyya.
In fact, here he damands that people not be allowed to speak the truth about Islam:
“Don’t let anyone make sharia a dirty word. Don’t let anyone speak about jihad as if it’s a holy war.”
https://www.globalmbwatch.com/2013/05/16/tariq-ramadan-talks-jihad-shariah-infiltration/
He urges that Muslims actively whitewash Islam, especially in the press.

That would be unfair on the Andromeda Galaxy, among others.
RichardL says
Ramadan’s firing was excellent news, this is even better: even Qatar doesn’t want the poster boy of islamism any more. I bet they wait for the Qaradawi monster to die and then move slowly away from the Brotherhood. Qataris are lard-arsed, brain-dead Gulfies, who pay jihadis to curry favour with allah. If the price gets too high they will stop doing so and spend their money on Russian prostitutes like the rest of the Gulfies.
MFritz says
“Moderate” islam is like being a “bit” pregnant.
Ibrahim itace muhammed says
These Arab monarchs are idiot to the core. Did Qatari monarchs insist that savage mad devil Trump shall prosecuted for numberous sexual assaults hé was accused or else he should not set his foot into Qatari soil ? I can Prove that mad devil Trump did it.
LeftisruiningCanada says
Prove it
Save Europe says
Piss off Ibrahim. You’re utterly tedious!
gravenimage says
Of course, Ibrahim itace muhammed is enraged that anyone might have a problem with a Muslim rapist.
He himself has affirmed that Muslims can rape Infidels and keep them as sex slaves.
As for Trump, he has made this ridiculous claim before, saying he had access to videos showing him molesting girls.
What rot. He does not, of course, say why a Nigerian would have access to such material when no one in the United States does. Of course, this is fictive.
It is notable how dishonest most Muslims are. But then, Islam allows any lying to the “filthy Infidels” if it furthers the cause of Islam.
Ibrahim itace muhammed says
Be aware of savage devil Trump !! the moment he comes closer to a woman he thinks of robing her sensitive positions without her consent. is that not a rape ? ,
StellaSaidSo says
No, it isn’t. If locker room braggadocio was synonymous with rape, most men would be guilty. They are not, and neither is Trump. You are an idiot, Ibrahim. And a hypocrite; your filthy ‘prophet’ was a serial rapist, and a particularly nasty one.
LeftisruiningCanada says
Your proof, oh great one?
LeftisruiningCanada says
Still didn’t prove it.
manat bint allaha says
ibrahim, how can you prove it?
were you there?
did you take up the oldest profession in the world by any chance?
Champ says
Tariq Ramadan is following the example set by the so-called, ‘perfect man’, his perverted-prophet muhammad (perdition be upon him).
Remember, mo was not only a liar, pedophile and mass-murderer, but a rapist, as well. Oh, and a thief, too. Hmm, what other crimes against humanity did mo commit–what am I missing?
LeftisruiningCanada says
The koran. It’s terrible. Like reading a stream of consciousness diary written by someone suffering from several personality disorders.
Champ says
So true, Left.
gravenimage says
He was also a caravan raider and slaver, as well.
So many crimes it is difficult to keep them all straight.
And this is Islam’s “perfect man”. *Ugh*.
lebel says
“Meanwhile, where are the prosecutions? Nothing is apparently being done to bring justice to his accusers. Would trying Ramadan be “Islamophobic”
Please do not confuse your wilful ignorance with reality. There is an investigation going on and funnily enough there are some questions regarding the first accuser. For example, years after the alleged rape she sent him several emails asking to meet with him, saying she loved him etc. – she also issued threats to him. Also another man has come forward claiming to have been threatened by her.

This is not a jihadwatch world, we cannot simply put muslims in jail because they’re evil by their very nature. There needs to be investigations etc.
StellaSaidSo says
Whatever the outcome of ‘investigations’, Tariq Ramadan is finished. His duplicity is exposed, and his reputation is in tatters. Please do not confuse your wilful ignorance with reality.
gravenimage says
lebel’s claims that Robert Spencer is calling to “put muslims in jail because they’re evil by their very nature” is, of course, utterly false.
What else would one expect from Islamic apologist lebel, though?
Indiana Tom says
Would trying Ramadan be “Islamophobic”? O course.
gravenimage says
After rape and sexual assault allegations, Tariq Ramadan quietly told not to set foot in Qatar
………………….
This is likely just public relations.
After all, Qatar has no problem with rape, and has in fact imprisoned women who dare report rape:

His grandfather Hassan al-Banna, one of the founding honchoes of the Ikhwan or Muslim Brotherhood, was Egyptian.
Brother Tariq should be stripped of any european-country citizenship status and sent back to Egypt on a one-way ticket.
Let the Egyptian Muslims figure out what to do with him.
