Yes, this is not like the 2009 Green Movement. This really is an uprising against the Islamic Republic. If the Iranians crush it brutally, we can only hope it will rise again, and again, and again, until this monstrous and inhumane regime is destroyed.
“Iran’s Supreme Leader blames ‘enemies’ for protests, death toll hits 21,” by Angela Dewan and Euan McKirdy, CNN, January 2, 2018:
(CNN)Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blamed Iran’s “enemies” on Tuesday for stirring up unrest in the country, as the death toll from days of anti-government protests climbed to 21.
In his first remarks since the demonstrations erupted last Thursday, Khamenei accused the nation’s enemies of “joining forces” and blamed them for the protests that have turned violent.
“The enemy is waiting for an opportunity, for a flaw, through which they can enter. Look at these events over the last few days. All those who are against the Islamic Republic — those who have money, those who have the politics, those who have the weapons, those who have the intelligence — they have all joined forces in order to create problems for the Islamic Republic and the Islamic Revolution,” he said, without naming any particular country.
Key developments
– Nine people were killed on Monday, including seven protesters, state media reports, taking the toll to 21.
– 450 people have been arrested in the past three days.
– Iranian President Rouhani slammed US President Donald Trump for tweeting his support for protesters.
– Trump called the Iranian government “brutal and corrupt” in a second tweet Tuesday.
– Authorities have restricted the apps Instagram and Telegram but users are accessing them with VPNs.The protests have become the biggest challenge to the Iranian government’s authority since mass demonstrations in 2009. Around 450 people have been arrested over the past three days, according to state media.
The rallies began Thursday over the country’s stagnant economy and rising living costs, but they developed into a broader outcry against the government and intensified over the weekend. Many of the protesters are young Iranians tired of the lack of economic opportunity in the country.
Of the nine people killed Monday, seven were protesters. Six of them died in the central city of Qahdarijan when demonstrators stormed a police station and attempted to take guns from authorities, state media reported. The seventh protester was killed in nearby Khomaini Shahr.
A policeman died in Najafabad after a protester shot at officers with a hunting rifle, according to state media. Three other officers were wounded. A member of the Basij, a pro-government militia, was also killed, in south Tehran….

In 1935 the Iranian government requested those countries which it had diplomatic relations with, to call Persia “Iran,” which is the name of the country in Persian.
The suggestion for the change is said to have come from the Iranian ambassador to Germany, who came under the influence of the Nazis. At the time Germany was in the grip of racial fever and cultivated good relations with nations of “Aryan” blood. It is said that some German friends of the ambassador persuaded him that, as with the advent of Reza Shah, Persia had turned a new leaf in its history and had freed itself from the pernicious influences of Britain and Russia, whose interventions in Persian affairs had practically crippled the country under the Qajars, it was only fitting that the country be called by its own name, “Iran.” This would not only signal a new beginning and bring home to the world the new era in Iranian history, but would also signify the Aryan race of its population, as “Iran” is a cognate of “Aryan” and derived from it.

Those mullahs and ayatollahs and others in total power in this Islamic tyranny of Iran keep the Iranian people oppressed and strongly under their control in by many brutal, harsh and unconscionable ways. One of the ways is by use of band of thugs who are who are called the “Revolutionary Guards.” Therefore many of the Iranians live in awful fear of those tyrants in power in that Islamic regime. To such oppressive tyrannical control by this “mullah’s regime” the wisdom found in one of the periodicals of POOR RICHARD’S ALMANACK has the answer which may apply to this subject. For in that publication Benjamin Franklin printed “Those who are feared are also hated .”
Walter Sieruk says
This brutal and cruel and regime of the mullahs and ayatollahs as well as other villains in power and control in this tyranny of Iran which so falsely and inappropriately has the word “Republic “ in its title. This “mullah regime” is oppressive both in the physical sense to the people of Iran and also in the informational way. In that this tyrannical regime severely limits the information the Iranian people receive for the outside world. It stands to reason that the mullahs and others in power in Iran afraid the people might start think for themselves if outside information is received so it’s strongly restricted. This is a reminder of the wise words the Thomas Jefferson had written. Which are “Enlighten the people, generally, and tyranny and oppression of body and mind will vanish like evil spirits at the dawn of day.” Likewise, Mr. Jefferson had nobly declared “I have sworn upon the alter of God eternal hostility against every from of tyranny over the mind of man.”
Walter Sieruk says
Khamanei and the mullahs with all their brutal and cruel suppression of the Iranian people have only themselves to blame for this upraising. To try to shift the blame in a old ploy

Good books. A good book can keep a person breathing.
I love Sivananda’s Bliss Divine.
And The Dharma Manifesto is also very helpful.
Empires of Light will be returning – the only question is when – when will Black Age of Kaljug end? Experts say Black age is just beginning. However divine intervention can create Age of Truth right now.
Deprogramming is the first step. Internal reform of the religion of Pieces is urgently needed. Neo-colonial Malthusian economics must be replaced with Prabhupada’s cow-based economy. Correct borders, Gold standard economy (as opposed to plastic) and recognition of Divinity of girl-child is a must for sanity.
Education is the need of the hour. Take a deep dive into the classical literature of Sanskrit and Persian. Experience Bliss (and beauty without which bliss is virtually impossible)
End unjust wars.

Cow-based economy?
Is that a real thing?
Sharyati says
Yes LeftisruiningCanada it is for real. Back in my village in remote rural south India, the entire village runs on cow/oxen based economies. Mind you we are in no way poor by any stretch and do decently well enough . Everythin from milk, fertilizers, manure, pesticides are from the cow and the cow is revered as sacred and is not eaten. But the local breed of cows are used which have the A2 vitamin which is found in mothers milk. This is not found in imported breeds. Also when the soil is fertilized with cow manure it is proved to be resilient and can grow multiple crop yields in succession.
The only issue is that it cannot scale to the consumerist economics. Sure it would assure, you are provided with all basic necessities(People dont consider an iphone a necessity in Indian villages). People generally who want to pursue a life of meditation and contemplation and who want to go back to their villages generally switch over to it. So living by that economy requires a value re-orientation and is not so simple, especially for non hindus and people who have been accustomed to living a western life style, i mean even in India and not just in the West. You can see how a typical south indian village would like like a this link

Prabh108 seemed to be implying that he had a plan to role it out on a national level which, as you said, might not be all that easy!
Sharyati says
Oh so you are a Hare Krishna?Come on Prabh even Krishna in the Bhagavat Geetha ordered Arjuna to fight like a man and not cower like a eunuch!!! Also despite being a hindu myself, unless every body becomes an ascetic it would be difficult to sustain cow based economics an impractical suggestion.

Khamenei has an amazingly bright and sparkling mind. It has discerned, in spite of the global forces of darkness and delusion aligned against it, that the protestors’ actions cannot plausibly be blamed on people who support the Islamic regime or who are indifferent to it. Simply amazing!
Let’s be a little wary, however, of being overawed by this great leader’s bright, sparkling mind. There is a tinge of conspiracy theory in his remark that “All those who are against the Islamic Republic…they have all joined forces”. How could that be possible? Maybe some of his enemies are distracted by money making ventures or an important sporting event. He is talking about millions and millions of people thinking and acting in concert simultaneously across borders and without a common language spoken fluently by all of them. And even if his conspiracy theory were true, how would he learn it without a powerful player like Satan to whisper the info into his ear? Everyone knows that there are no more revelations from the ilah or from Jibreel on behalf of the ilah.
It’s a shame that such a bright mind is showing evidence of paranoia and dementia.

Apparently Khamenei sent out mass text message calling for protests against the “counter-revolutionaries” Friday, demanding all public employees attend.
