Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

New report says Christians in Egypt face unprecedented persecution from Muslims

Jan 11, 2018 12:00 pm By Robert Spencer

It may be that al-Sisi is practicing steam control, as did Nasser, Sadat and Mubarak before him. Despite his affirmations of support for the Christian community, he may be allowing this escalating Muslim persecution as a way to placate the pro-Muslim Brotherhood elements within Egypt, and keep them from turning against his regime.

Meanwhile, Christian leaders in the West largely remain silent about this ongoing persecution, so as not to harm the “dialogue” they’re enjoying with Muslim leaders that has thus far not prevented one Christian from being persecuted or one church from being attacked.

“Leave them; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” (Matthew 15:14)

“Christians in Egypt face unprecedented persecution, report says,” by Harriet Sherwood, Guardian, January 10, 2018 (thanks to Blazing Cat Fur):

Christians in Egypt are facing unprecedented levels of persecution, with attacks on churches and the kidnap of girls by Islamist extremists intent on forcing them to marry Muslims, a report says.

In the past year, Egypt has moved up an annual league table of persecution of Christians compiled by the charity Open Doors. According to its World Watch List, North Korea is still the most dangerous country in the world in which to be a Christian, and Nepal has had the biggest increase in persecution.

But Egypt, home to the largest Christian community in the Middle East, is of particular worry. Officially about 10% of the 95 million population are Christian, although many believe the figure is significantly higher.

The overwhelming majority are Orthodox, with up to 1 million evangelical Christians and 250,000 Catholics. Orthodox Christians celebrated Christmas on Sunday amid tight security, days after at least 11 were killed in attacks. The president, Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, attended midnight mass at a new cathedral 30 miles (45km) east of the capital as tens of thousands of armed soldiers patrolled streets around churches all over Egypt.

According to Open Doors, 128 Christians were killed in Egypt for their faith and more than 200 were driven out of their homes in 2017. It attributed the rise in persecution to “the overspill of Islamic terrorists driven out of Iraq and Syria”.

Last Easter, two church bombings killed 49 people, and another 29 were killed when extremists attacked people travelling to a monastery in May. More than 15 girls in Minya governorate were kidnapped in 2017 to be forced to marry Muslims and convert to Islam, Open Doors said.

“Michael Jones”, a Cairo-based businessman and evangelical Christian, told the Guardian there was a gulf between statements from the national leadership regarding the Christian community and actions at a local level.

“You hear the president speaking about Christians with a lot of respect and sympathy. Just a few days ago, he made a beautiful, emotional speech when inaugurating our new cathedral. It looked like an amazing affirmation that the state is supporting the church and the Christian community, and doing everything it can to guarantee our welfare,” said Jones, who asked for his real name not to be used.

“Then you have have the local authorities in villages and towns – police, judges, business owners – and it’s evident that many of them are infected with a rejection of Christianity. You see this in daily practices – not usually violence, but discrimination.”

Jones said Christians were overlooked for jobs or promotion, university students were given bad grades or failed, schoolchildren were made to sit at the back of the class, shop owners were boycotted and hospital patients were not given proper treatment.

“There is only a minority of violent extremists, but the culture in Egypt cherishes the perception that Christians are infidels,” he said….

it seems that both Muslims and Christians are persecuting each other, Christian persecution of Muslims:

    – Muslim ban
    – Muslim free zones
    – mosque burnings across the country
    – Christians fighting mosque permits.

that is not to take into consideration the unsuccessful attempts to persecute Muslims in USA.

      What nonsense. And hypocrisy.

‘Christian persecution of Muslims’? Where, exactly?

Most Muslim countries are not included in what you refer to as ‘Muslim ban’. Those which are on the list are known sources of terrorism. A ban is therefore entirely appropriate, and in the interests of ALL Americans.

What ‘Muslim free zones’? I know of no such thing. There are however, NO GO zones in every Western country, where no non-Muslim is safe.

The number of Church burnings vastly exceeds the number of mosque burnings. Destruction of the places of worship of other religions has been a Muslim practice for 1400 years.

Citizens are entitled to object to permits for mosques as they are to any building. How many Christian churches are there in Saudi Arabia?

In terms of ‘persecution’ in USA (and elsewhere in the West), Muslims are the perpetrators far more often than they are the victims. The main persecutors of Muslims are other Muslims.

i dont agree with you, the problem is that christians FAIL to presecute muslims for example – greet wilders has a “de-islamification” program, in which he will ban the quran and close mosques, .. many christians support him. HOwever he FAILED.

        more Christian terrorism/persecution:
        – christians support Bashar Assad
        – christians support terrorist organization hezbollah
        – Russian orthodox church declared Syria to be Christian JIhad, many Chirstian mercenaries fight along side of Assad committing horrible attrocities.

In USA, CHristians support Muslim ban and try to prevent mosques from being built. But, because of the constitution, muslims are protected from christian persecution.

Christians are NOT more peaceful than muslms.

          Abu

You are a liar. The NT forbids killing. The Koran mandates it. Christ killed no one. Mohammed killed thousands, including poets and those that would not submit to his invented religion.

There are dozens of Muslim terrorist organizations. Name one Christian organization that engages in or advocates terrorism

I note that you have not addressed any of my points made in response to your earlier post. I will assume that this is because you can’t. No surprises there. We understand how difficult it is for you, handicapped as you are by the brain virus of Islam.

Anyone who is prepared to ban the vile Koran and close the hate-preaching mosques has my full support. Islam has no place in civilised society. It brings chaos and grief wherever it goes.

The right to freedom of religion does not include the right to build a mosque on every street corner. In civilised societies, other people have rights too. Difficult for you to understand, given that your vile book tells you that only Islam has rights, but do try to get your head around it.

And, in case you hadn’t noticed, it isn’t Christians who are blowing up children at concerts, stabbing people in the street, and driving cars into Christmas shoppers. Such attacks happen almost daily, and the perpetrators are always Muslims. There are no Christian churches or Christian organisations which promote the slaughter of people of other faiths. So I think we can conclude that Christians are far more peaceful than Muslims.

If you want to be taken seriously in this forum, you are going to have to lift your game, lad.

Stella, Muslims DO NOT DEBATE! They ‘raid’, like Mohammed. Muslims run in swiftly to humiliate and inflict pain on their unsuspecting opposition and then run away as quickly, rather than stand and fight. Muslims usually get defeated whenever they stand and fight.

THE RAID, rather than the set piece battle is normative Islam.

I have not found a Muslim who can withstand sustained intellectual rigor. They normally take a few shots and then go silent when FACTS AND LOGIC tear their specious claims to shreds.

Islam cannot be defended morally, historically, factually or logically, so Muslims hit and run or use ad hominem slurs to demean the speaker. None of that constitutes real debate.

          Jan 11, 2018 at 3:16 pm

LOL, I am still waiting to encounter a Muslim who had the slightest idea of how to debate. Logic and evidence mean nothing, as you too have observed. It’s a miracle that some of them don’t walk on all fours, they’re so thick. But they’re fun to smack around, and one lives in hope that maybe something that somebody says here will shake them out of their stupor. One of the reasons for the low IQ amongst Muslims (apart from 1400 years of inbreeding) is the fact that the smart ones leave the gene pool. I never met a stupid ex-Muslim.

Geert (by the way), though he is ‘Greet’, in my opinion, is merely fed up with the pandering and appeasement by various Western nations to your bellicose religion. He, quite rightly, sees Islam as a threat – wherever it goes, it devours everything! Judging by the way your co-religionists breed at an astronomic rate, non Muslims in the West should be concerned! I’ve yet to see a ‘not in my name march’, after a Muslim terrorist attack in the West. All I ever hear is – ‘islamaphobia may increase…..the terrorists weren’t real Muslims…’

While Bashar Assad oppresses Christians–as do all Muslims in power–he does not commit full-on genocide against them, as his opponents have (see ISIS).

“abu salma” is hence claiming that if Christians do not want to be violently wiped out by Muslims that they are “persecuting” them. *Ugh*.

The idea that Geert Wilders–not “greet wilders” wants to ban the Qur’an is a canard. He has said that if laws banning hate are to stand, that they should apply to the Qur’an, as well, given the amount of hate for unbelievers in it. Can “abu salma” deny that this is so?

And most ludicrous of all is the claim that it is Christians who are waging violent Jihad. Just absurd.

abu salma … A ban on Islam is not ‘PERSECUTION’. A ban on Islam is like a ban on SATANIC HUMAN SACRIFICES or AZTEC HUMAN SACRIFICES.

If Muslims wish to RAPE KAFIRS, ROB KAFIRS and CRUCIFY APOSTATES in Muslim countries, the world can do little, but defending HUMAN RIGHTS is not ‘persecution’ of Islam.

Islam is a Bronze-Age Death Cult, Rape Cult and Supremacist Cult. Modernity criticizes those backward ideas as uncivilized.

And it’s not ‘all the same God.’
The God of the Bible, and the Jesus of the Bible, is the one and only true God (Trinity).
All the other gods and ‘holy’ books contradict the Bible, proving that it is not the same ‘god.’ And God is not the author of confusion. In the end times the ‘one world religion’ will rise up, blending all the religions into one under satan, except for true Christianity; which could never join with the others which are false. The God of the Bible says now we must come under the New Covenant, and unless you are IN CHRIST, you are still lost. (Of course I don’t refer to babies, the unborn, small children, etc., that is another matter.)

Do you really think US and the West care the persecution of Christian in Egypt or elsewhere in the islamic world? US and Nato actually openly back islamic jihadists that are mass-murdering Christians in Libya, in Egypt, in Syria and in the Balkans, where they openly sided with islamic jihadists, bombed Christian Serbs and created two islamic states (Bosnia & Kosovo) in Eastern Europe. Thank God, in Syria, US and Nato’s evil plans to destroy the secular government in Syria and replace it with their jihadist proxies who would then mass-murder Christians was thwarted by Russia and Iran. Please watch and read how Christians in Damascus were able to celebrate Christmas last week, free from US-backed jihadist threats. Actually, I suggest (Jihadwatch) to post this very telling story below. Please watch the video and read the story about Syrian Christians and how they celebrated Christmas last week:

Muslim ban where? If you’re referring to the Trump travel ban, if it had been a Muslim ban then Indonesia, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan – to name just a VERY few would have been banned as well!

Muslim free zones? By that you mean areas of the West where Muslims haven’t chosen to reside. They prefer their own enclaves where non Muslims aren’t welcome, in their own countries.

Mosque burnings? Where? The only acts of barbarism are – murdering a French Priest in his own church in France; stone throwing at worshippers leaving churches in the South of France; launching fireworks at Cologne Cathedral; desecration of Jssus statues in some churches in Italy and Germany.

But YES you are right on the last point. Most people are fed up with the immodesty of Islam. It cannot behave with subtlety. We are fed up with so many mosques here there and everywhere.

“abu salma” would have us believe that Christians being murdered in cold blood and girls being kidnapped and forced to marry muslim men is akin to the things he’s listed–wow this goes beyond the pale!

With the exception of the third item on his list, all the things he has listed are a proper response to MUSLIM PERSECUTION AND ISLAMIC TERRORIST ATTACKS–making these steps necessary to protect others. So three of the items on his list should not even be classified as “persecution”, at all. This is a ridiculous lie. Shame on him, since *real* persecution is the topic here.

And if it’s true that “mosques are being burned across the country”, then I would bet that *other* muslims are committing these crimes against their own–not unless “abu” has solid proof to the contrary.

Islam, by it’s actions is clearly not a religion of peace. While there are ‘good or bad people’ in any group, as a movement, Islam is violent and it is setting up training camps in North America to train Muslims to attack. Islam persecutes Yazdi’s, Hidu’s, Buddhists, Christians, Jews, other types of Islam, throughout the world..Common knowledge, yet Islam wonders why anybody has a problem with this. Islam addresses adulteresses, but not adulterers..This isn’t justice. This is brutal conquest.

EGYPT’S HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES COME FROM THE TOP

    https://www.hrw.org/world-report/2017/country-chapters/egypt

    Security Force Abuses

Officers of the National Security Agency routinely tortured and forcibly disappeared suspects with few consequences. Many of the detainees who suffered these abuses were accused of sympathy with or membership in the Muslim Brotherhood, which the government named a terrorist group in 2013 but has remained the country’s largest opposition movement.

Between August 2015 and August 2016, the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms, an independent group, documented 912 victims of enforced disappearance, 52 of whom had not reappeared by the time the group issued its report.

National Security officers routinely tortured suspects during these enforced disappearances. Between January and October 2016, 433 detainees claimed that police or prison officers mistreated or tortured them while they were in custody, according to a count by the Nadeem Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence and Torture based on media reports, lawyers’ statements, criminal complaints, and other sources. In one case documented by Human Rights Watch, National Security officers in Alexandria forcibly disappeared and tortured 20 people, including eight children, in connection with a protest and an alleged arson attack on a garage and a traffic police vehicle.

Incidents of abuse by police officers, including fatal incidents of torture and illegal killings at protests, rarely resulted in accountability. Of the hundreds of such cases recorded in media reports and by activist groups since July 2013, when the military ousted Former President Mohamed Morsy, only 10 had gone through trial as of October 2016, resulting in six guilty verdicts against police officers.

Many convicted officers have appealed initial verdicts and won acquittals or shorter sentences. In February, Egypt’s highest appeals court ordered a retrial for an officer originally sentenced to 15 years for shooting and killing political activist Shaimaa al-Sabbagh at a peaceful protest in January 2015, an incident that was photographed and videotaped. In October, the same court ordered a retrial for two officers who received five-year sentences for torturing lawyer Karim Hamdy to death in a police station in 2015.

New report says Christians in Egypt face unprecedented persecution from Muslims

It may be that al-Sisi is practicing steam control, as did Nasser, Sadat and Mubarak before him. Despite his affirmations of support for the Christian community, he may be allowing this escalating Muslim persecution as a way to placate the pro-Muslim Brotherhood elements within Egypt, and keep them from turning against his regime.

always left with one question after reading or hearing about these horrific attacks and abuses of Christians by Muslims… so to my evangelical Christian friends… Where is your all-powerful, all-merciful Biblical God and/or Jesus to serve and protect you before and during these attacks? Either they are powerless or feel indifferent to help you, or they don’t actually exist. Why pray to them or worship them at all? Why cry out for their help and protection? If everything is unfolding according to God’s indomitable Divine Will then isn’t all this suffering you and your families endure at the hands of these 21st century barbarians meant to be a part of HIS Cosmic Plan? Ponder this deeply and never blindly, mindlessly, flippantly, and heartlessly answer “well… i guess the Lord acts in mysterious ways.” That is an empty, vacuous non-answer.

Good people have been killed and suffer seen the being of time .It is why the people not being kill and have their culture wipe out should speak up and condemned that actions of supremacist idolatries that commit these atrocities .Islam has been on the march for 1400 years in this quest to rule the world under its supremacist iron fist. Anytime a Christian ,Jew, Hindu just tries to worship and pray the Islamics go into a mad fit why ?Are the Christians praying for violence and natural disasters against their enemies ,that we Christians can take the women of our enemies to be woman of the right hand for us? Do Jewish Rabbis go up in front of their congregation and preach they will kill the unbelievers were every they find them? Do Hindus preach that Jews and Christians are descendants of apes and pigs? They are going into a mad fit because their god {Allah} is a violent greedy god ,who they believe is their master they are its god,s slaves .For the small man in the street with little power if simple praying hurts his enemy so much their must be something maybe truth in it.80 years ago we had a madman who did his best to kill off all the Jews in Europe the world was did very little till his violence reached their own homes. We should publicly condemn Islam,s violent nature expose it , if praying for your enemy and worshiping in your church sends him into fits their must be some truth in those prays he might see the logic of your God .I do not know Gods plan I am a small simple man who has a limit life on this earth before I die like all men if this a” empty, vacuous non-answer” then why worry about anyone else but me ? I should live life for the moment ,why should I care about any else suffering but my own ? Mr. Spencer, YES the Copts (Christians of Egypt) are way way more than 10%. They are about 25%. If you conduct a research by collecting data from the different bishoprics’ via certificates of birth, baptism, deaths, marriage which is the normal record keeping in our churches, you would get to that figure.
One of the reasons Muslims burn churches is to burn those records. Of course, extreme hate is the main reason for their ugly crimes against the very peaceful Christians.
