Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Sweden: Muslim caregiver refuses to buy elderly woman Christmas ham due to “religious reasons”

Jan 1, 2018 10:15 am By Christine Douglass-Williams

A Muslim caregiver in Sweden has caused controversy after she refused to purchase a Christmas ham for one of her company’s clients, saying that it violated her religious beliefs.

Liberal Party member Eva Castberger stated that “faithfulness is a private matter and nothing that should affect other people in one’s occupation.” This is precisely the problem with Islamic supremacism. Islam is not practiced as a “private matter”; it is political and authoritarian, with the expectation that infidels will bow to it. Although faith is to be respected overall, the caregiver is an employee of this company serving clients.

Castberger also pointed out that “Not a word was said about the discrimination the elderly woman suffered when she was refused to get the food purchased as she wanted.” The discrimination, intolerance and violation of rights are rarely pointed out when they are committed by Muslims. To do so renders one “Islamophobic.”

The incident is just the latest cultural clash between traditional Swedish society and newly arrived Islamic immigrants.

Add to this much greater issues: Sweden is on the verge of civil war due to “cultural clashes”; the National Police Commissioner has had to cry out “help us, help us”; more than 80 percent of its police want to quit their jobs due to the level of extreme violence by Muslim migrants; and no-go zones have sprung up and are expanding.

“Muslim Caregiver Refuses to Buy Elderly Woman Christmas Ham Due to ‘Religious Reasons’”, by Chris Tomlinson, Breitbart, December 21, 2017:

A Muslim caregiver in Sweden has caused controversy after she refused to purchase a Christmas ham for one of her company’s clients, saying that it violated her religious beliefs.

The case was brought before the local government council in the Swedish city of Trollhättan, where it was claimed that the elderly woman had been wronged after the Muslim caregiver had refused to buy certain food items she had been paid to pick up.

The incident sparked a debate in the community, leading local Liberal Party member Eva Castberger to pen an article for newspaper TTela in which she argued that the religion of the caregiver should not have mattered and she should have carried out the tasks she was paid to perform.

“Not a word was said about the discrimination the elderly woman suffered when she was refused to get the food purchased as she wanted,” Castberger added…..

“Faithfulness is a private matter and nothing that should affect other people in one’s occupation,” Perlenberg wrote.

The incident is just the latest cultural clash between traditional Swedish society and newly arrived Islamic immigrants.

This only the latest example of a log list of Muslims refusing to do their jobs for ‘religious’ reasons. Truck drivers refusing to carry alcohol, check out staff refusing to cash out alcohol and pork products. It is just their way of saying we are special, other people’s beliefs are of no importance.

I assume that the caregiver, a Muslim, working for this caregiver Company, was giving care to a Christian….Was the caregiver Company owned by a Muslim and hired Muslims as caregivers
or Christian owned Co. hiring Muslims. if so…..Stupidness on the Co. part. Never the less..Stupidity on the caregivers part no matter what the circumstances.

Please explain how this incident is different from a Christian baker refusing to make a wedding cake for a same-sex wedding party.

    • Aardvark says

      Jan 1, 2018 at 10:37 am

The baker would have been required to bake and ice the cake; he would have been intimately involved with its creation..

The muslima simply had to collect the goods from the shop and deliver them to the woman she was supposedly caring for. The ham would be wrapped, probably in several layers of plastic wrap, paper, possibly even a cardboard box. The muslima would not have even been in contact with it.

The two cases are quite different.

      • Jayell says

        Jan 1, 2018 at 10:53 am

Likewise those cases where Muslim supermarket checkout staff have refused to process customers’ alcohol items. It all seems to suggest that they don’t understand boundaries, social or professional, which would be absolutely vital if that ridiculously oxymoronic concept of a ‘multi-cultural society’ were to ever to gain any credibility.

      • Vic says

        Jan 1, 2018 at 11:08 am

        Thanks for your response, Aardvark.
The reason for the question is that I believe somebody is going to compare the two issues and declare them to be the same.

I agree with you that the baker was personally involved in his creation. And he has the right to refuse to make anything for whatever reason. After all, it is his own company.

In the German case, all the Muslima had to do was to reach out to her German manager/boss/company/employer and state her issue. All the company had to do was to send one person (a non-Muslim) to collect and distribute all the hams to their clients. As far as I can see the clients were not expecting the Muslima to cook the ham and serve it. But even if that had been the case, the company would be responsible for making sure their clients were served by other staff willingly or state their limitations during their terms of engagement with the clients. It’s called customer service.

Gee, this has been a traditional dinner in Germany for many years…hello? The land of sausages, ham, pork cutlets, pork, pork, pork??

Maybe (ignorant, blind, and unrealistic) employers in Germany are not aware that these issues will come up regularly when they hire Muslims.
They are sticking to their PC rules no matter what.

          Jan 1, 2018 at 12:43 pm

Yes, somehow it will come up more and more— even if individual Mohammedens didn’t care, someone will turn up the demands.

I think the difference between the baker and this case is the baker was an individual contractor/business in a free market simply refusing a particular proffered business deal.
This caregiver was already hired as part of ongoing service.

In another news, a drunk driver has been charged with ramming his luxury car @ 120mph into a cop car killing the cop on Christmas – in northern California . Muslims regularly refuse to touch alcohol if it is a part of their job. So, one would think that this dunk driver would be anything but a muslim. Guess what? It is a Muslim Drunk driver with blood alcohol 0.11% – much higher than legal limit.

The two cases are reprehensible. The big difference is that the immense social majority in the West would cause the confectioner to be homophobic and would surely face scratches and boycotts. With the Muslima is different … the debate focuses on the rights of Muslims to condition the life of the rest of society, their community supports the attitude of this woman even many Western people do it for condescension and for trying not to violate the Islamic community. Something impossible because it always ends the same way…. violence.

      • ElderlyZionist says

        Jan 1, 2018 at 1:26 pm

It seems you haven’t followed the case, Eur. The Christian bakers in question were sued by the gay couple they refused to serve. The bakers have now decisively lost their case in court, and have been bankrupted by the enormous damages imposed. No kidding. Different rules for different people.

        • Eur says

          Jan 1, 2018 at 1:58 pm

The example that the partner has proposed is not valid. It is not valid because in our societies there is less and less homophobia (and that is good). However, the Muslim community remains firm in its orthodox and intolerant positions, as if they had the right to condition the life of the rest of humanity. With my previous post I was not defending anything or anyone. Also … the examples are not valid because they are not exclusive. An intolerant Christian can refuse to make a cake for a homosexual couple … but that does not mean that a Muslim (without being ultra) does not refuse to make such a cake. The normal thing is that any Muslim refuses and even insults and threatens those homosexuals. It is rare for a Christian to refer to religious reasons, but Muslims do so on a daily basis.

        • Anne Smith says

          Jan 2, 2018 at 6:24 am

The gay couple were funded by a pro gay organisation – they didn’t pay for anything themselves – and the whole thing was a set up to punish the bakers and serve as a warning to others to be especially careful and accommodating when gays place an order.

It is all part of the overall campaign to displace Christian values and teachings.

    • Steven RSA says

      Jan 1, 2018 at 11:01 am

The difference is that the Christian baker runs his own business in any manner he sees fit ( if he breaks any laws or infringes on the rights of others, he faces the threat of legal damages and fines). He is his own employer. This muslim woman was employed to do a job, and comply with reasonable instructions as part of her duties for which she is paid by the employer. She is not subject to the threat of fines or damages. That’s the difference.

Yep. If she wants to setup a ‘halal’ care giving service, that would make things more comparable. I’m guessing the halal caregiver service would not face the attacks that the bakers have.

    • mortimer says

There’s no ruling in Christianity about catering the food for a gay wedding or a Hindu wedding or a shamanistic wedding. A Christian baker will bake the wedding cake. If he disagrees with gay marriage, the happy couple can put their own message on it.

This woman doesn’t know Sharia law. It’s no contradiction of Sharia for Muslims to buy, handle or cook ham. Muslims just shouldn’t eat ham unless that is the only food available and then it’s alright to eat it too.

The woman can buy and handle pork according to Sharia law. THAT’S THE LAW of the mullahs.

      • LeftisruiningCanada says

        Jan 1, 2018 at 4:45 pm

“A Christian baker will bake the wedding cake. If he disagrees with gay marriage, the happy couple can put their own message on it. ”

Sadly that has not been good enough for some homosexuals.

Also, while there is no commandment directly stating not to assist in a homosexual marriage, we do have to keep in mind that helping with any marriage ceremony can be construed as agreeing with, and celebrating it.

While some homosexuals may not like it that others disagree with their choices, surely it should be the businesses choice on who to serve. A free market would soon allow them to find another baker to do the job.

It’s the state intervention which is unpleasant imho.

Also, an elderly woman is far more vulnerable, and has far fewer options if her caregiver is not taking care of her.

    • Richard says

      Jan 1, 2018 at 8:50 pm

You are exactly right, Vic. Obamacare was forcing Catholic nuns to give birth control pills and Catholic doctors to perform abortions. The Catholics themselves would not be the recipients of either the birth control nor the abortions, but by giving them to others, they would be the direct cause of others committing what Catholics believe to be a mortal sin. In other words, they would be sending those they served to hell – and would consequently be there with them. The same with the pork. Islam says to those who eat pork, neither desiring nor craving it, it is no sin to him. In other words , if it is forced on them, it is alright (though few Muslims would risk that). In your point, we have people who would want to sin by using the abortions or pills and the Catholics who provided them would be in fact responsible for those sins, and the nuns and doctors would therefore be sitting in hell beside them forever. In this case, the Muslim caregiver is entirely correct. She should not, then, take a job that would put her in that position because the lady she takes care of is not a Muslim and therefore has a right to eat whatever she wishes, just as she would have the right to ask her caregiver to turn on some Christian radio show, which it would probably be a sin for a Muslim to do, just as it would probably be a sin for a Muslim to drive a Christian to Mass, as it would probably be a sin for a Christian to drive a Muslim to a mosque. These are cases where a law cannot jump in and force someone to violate their religious beliefs – but their employer (in effect, the elderly woman, and only indirectly the employment agency) can and MUST.

    • Salome says

      Jan 1, 2018 at 11:58 pm

While I’m inclined to think that a cake is a cake, and baking one for the purpose of any celebration isn’t the same thing as an endorsement of what is being celebrated–it remains that Christians were in the USA long before the laws regarding marriage were changed, and Swedes were eating ham long before Muslims turned up in Sweden. Further, a cake shop is a private business, whereas an employee of a local authority is subject to the rules of her employer. A local authority that takes it upon itself to provide care for the elderly should be responsible for delivering to them normal Swedish food and its employees are charged with seeing that such deliveries are made. Therefore, the carer has the option to find another employer.

in the same way a baker could legally refuse to make a cake with f*ck you on it but still not refuse to make a different cake… the bakers refused to make any cake and insulted the buyer. IN this case the muslim should have disclosed her limitations prior to employment and not be employed to non muslims who want ham. The state probably sent her there

  14. Vic says

    Jan 2, 2018 at 10:50 am

Thank you, Mortimer! You shed a serious amount of light on the subject. The issue of a Muslim “refusing to buy the ham for religious reasons” should prompt us non-Muslims to ask…where in the Quran does it say that? Please quote chapter and verse.

Sharia Law (the mullahs) dictate dietary laws and spell them out. There is no problem with Muslims handling, transporting, buying, cooking, touching pork or alcohol. In dire circumstances, they are allowed to eat pork if that is the only thing available to eat. Under normal circumstances, pork is considered unclean, so it is haram to eat.

So, WE, non-Muslims, need to up our knowledge base and say to that Muslim lady that she needs to review her Sharia chapter on dietary laws. No religious dispensations based on her hearsay and opinions, are allowed and she needs to do her job as a caretaker. None of elements of what she is asked to do as a caretaker are banned by her religion.

Perhaps our real strength is in knowing how to play this critical game and in understanding the rules of that game. We need to be humble as doves, but wise as serpents. No outrage, no scandal, just the facts, Madam, just the facts.
