At last, an American President.
“Trump Admin Working to Incubate Nascent Iranian Revolution,” by Adam Kredo, Washington Free Beacon, January 2, 2018:
The Trump administration is keeping a close eye on the growing protests in Iran, with senior administration officials working to ensure President Donald Trump does not miss an opportunity to incubate a possible revolution that could topple Iran’s hardline ruling regime, according to White House officials who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon.
With the world watching growing demonstrations across Iran, the Trump administration sees an opportunity to feed the growing protests. The policy is starkly different than the Obama administration’s approach in 2009, when similar protests gripped Iran and were met with silence.
Many viewed the Obama administration’s hesitation to back the protests as part of the reason they fizzled out amid a violent crackdown by the Iranian regime, which has engaged in similar tactics as anti-regime activists take to the streets across the Islamic Republic.
President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are said to be closely monitoring the situation and working to warn Iran’s ruling regime that “this will not be a repeat of the 2009 demonstrations,” according to a senior administration official briefed on the situation.
As the death toll in the current protests reaches at least 21 individuals, Iranian officials have blamed the unrest on “overt support of the U.S., the Zionist regime [Israel], and Saudi Arabia.”
The protests, which began last week, have mostly centered on economic frustrations among Iranian citizens who feel the ruling regime has failed to invest in the country. While Iran has spent billions of the cash windfalls it received from the landmark nuclear deal on a massive military buildup, it seems little of that money has been reinvested in the Iranian economy, which remains in shambles following years of economic sanctions by the West.
The Trump administration is not seeking to repeat what it described as the Obama administration’s failure to support demonstrators who could eventually topple the clerical ruling regime of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
“While Obama administration officials continue to double down on its failed, passive approach to past freedom uprisings in Iran, President Trump and Vice President Pence are making clear to the world that they will not turn their backs on the freedom-seeking protesters,” one senior administration official told the Free Beacon on Tuesday, after reports claimed another nine protesters were killed and at least 450 arrested.
“The Trump administration’s strong and vocal support for the demonstrators is a 180 from the Obama administration’s approach and it’s signaling to Tehran that this will not be a repeat of the 2009 demonstrations,” the administration official said….
“As long as [Trump] is [President] and I am [Vice President], the United States of America will not repeat the shameful mistake of our past when others stood by and ignored the heroic resistance of the Iranian people as they fought against their brutal regime,” Pence tweeted on Monday.
As a lawmaker in Congress, Pence spearheaded efforts to protect free speech in Iran.
As the Obama administration stood on the sidelines of the tumult in 2009, Pence, then a House lawmaker, co-sponsored a measure to back “all Iranian citizens who embrace the values of freedom, human rights, civil liberties, and rule of law.”
The resolution condemned the Iranian regime’s violent suppression of the protests.
At the time, Pence disagreed “with the administration’s decision to essentially draw the line at not meddling and not interfering.”
Another source close to the Trump White House told the Free Beacon that public criticism from Obama administration officials has only fueled the drive to back Iranian protesters.
“If you want to understand how totally different the Trump approach is from Obama’s, all you have to notice is that Democrats aren’t even pretending Obama would have done this,” said the source, a veteran D.C.-based foreign policy adviser who is close to the White House.
“Usually when the president shows leadership, the noise machine spins up and says he’s just doing what Obama would have done,” the source said. “But in this case everyone knows that Obama abandoned the protesters in Iran in 2009 because he wanted a nuclear deal, and he would do it again.”

“The Iranian dictatorship is trying to do what it always does, which is to say that the protests were designed by enemies. We all know that is complete nonsense,” Haley said on Tuesday.

To call a spade a spade – that’s what she did. The Iranian theocracy is despicable and its main “founder” –

Agree completely with Lu.
Iran is the world’s biggest RELIGIOUS BRAINWASH CULT. There is ABSOLUTELY NO freedom of thought in Iran’s MULLAHOCRACY.
Wellington says
Agreed, mortimer, but here is what is really disturbing: Increasingly liberty is being exterminated in traditionally free countries like the UK and Sweden. I expect the Muslim world to be devoid of liberty, that’s a given because freedom and Islam work about as well as North Carolina BBQ spare ribs and what is halal in Muslimworld, but the fact that much of the Western world is in “Muslim-mode” in our time is what should truly disturb all those who cherish freedom.
Again can be seen that excuse making for evil is even worse than evil itself. The eradication of freedom in the West, an ongoing “initiative” (including, mon Dieu, at Stanford University no less) is what is truly appalling. Besides, the combination of the idiocy of Western Leftism, with the standard oppressiveness that occurs wherever Islam get its way, puts not only freedom in danger but those North Carolina BBQ pork ribs as well. Oh the humanity! Yes, imagine life without freedom or BBQ spare ribs. Too hideous to contemplate for more than just a few seconds.

Raymond Ibrahim has just written an interesting article regarding MOHAREBEH. In Iran it can mean the death penalty if one “wages war against Allah” and the only reason an Islamic dictator can be overthrown is if he FAILS TO GOVERN ACCORDING TO ISLAM.

The truth is, Saudi Arabia, a close U$ ally, is a 100 times more dangerous than Iran and is the source and of the biggest sponsor of the global islamic jihadist wars and massacres. .

Disagree. Saudi Arabia is awful. Iran is more awful. Besides, Iran is much closer to obtaining nuclear weapons than is SA thanks to Obama and with no little help from Putin.

Wellington, you believing too much “Deep State” globalist propaganda!
THINK OF THIS PLEASE:
According to the (thereligionofpeace.com) 32320 deadly islamic terrorist attacks have been carried out since 9/11. Can you point out even a single one of them perpetrated or sponsored by the Iranians???
I challenge you to point a single one of them if there is any truth in you!
Wellington says
Please, christianblood, quit embarrassing yourself. Iran works through proxies like Hamas (even though Hamas is Sunni), Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, etc. The US State Department has branded Iran the number one sponsor of state terrorism throughout the world. In 2007 the US Senate branded the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization. And on and on and on like this. You have to live in a make-believe world to conclude that the Iranian regime has not sponsored all kinds of Islamic terror for many, many years now.
christianblood says

(..The US State Department has branded Iran the number one sponsor of state terrorism throughout the world..)
You believe baseless lies and US government propaganda!
Remember the WMD of Iraq and that lies that led to that war?
It is the same US government propaganda that you are believing in.
Again, I challenge you! Give me a proof. According to the (thereligionofpeace.com) 32320 deadly islamic terrorist attacks have been carried out since 9/11. Show me a single one of them perpetrated or sponsored by the Iranians???
Wellington says
Christianblood: Every major intelligence agency on the planet back in early 2003 thought that Saddam Hussein was not coming clean about WMDs. Doubt me, then name one that asserted otherwise.
I think Bush had to take out SM but Bush made a major mistake by concluding that true democracy (which, btw, has never existed in Russia, telling and damning as this is) could be installed in Iraq. Bush should have just looked for a Mubarak type in the Iraqi military, installed him and then, minus a few Special Forces, left. That he did not wasted trillions of dollars and huge amounts of American blood all unnecessarily.
As for Iran, don’t you realize by now, as I already mentioned to you, that they work through proxies? Thus, your challenge is an empty one and one knows this or should know it.
As for propaganda, Putin is quite adept at it. Doubt me? Well then, don’t take my word for it, why not ask Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Poles, western Ukrainians, Czechs, Georgians, Slovaks, Bulgarians——————-ah, it’s a long list indeed of those who, rightfully, look upon the Russians with great skepticism.
This is all for now. Your turn again.

The New Communism under Islam is a failure and no amount of Allah ad-libbing by the Mullahs will change that perception in intelligent Persian minds.
They fought a useless million-man-death war with a country the leaders now hobnob in. Their money is stolen to promote terrorism, put the country at risk of war, and fatten Mullahs. 150,000 of the most intelligent leave Iran every year for better opportunity.
The Ayatollahs and clerics are failures, trying to run a country on 7th Century rules and communist economics. Let’s hope the Persians are successful in getting these parasites off their backs. And that is the core problem of Islam – it requires a host to have wealth for the non-producers. It was the non-producers, doing poorly under the Shah, who fomented the 1979 revolution. Islam is anti-meritocracy; just another form of communism whose beneficiaries declare that life is too hard after it collapses.

The Obama administration was silent because Obama, like his hate-America leftist allies, kind of liked the Iranian regime. The excuse was the JPOA, which really stands for Joint Plan Of Appeasement.
WorkingClassPost says
The Iranian people can’t do this without the assistance of a sizeable section of their military, which requires a careful line between showing our support, and threatening intervention, such that we become the existential threat that unifies their forces.
If there’s enough momentum for change, then it should happen anyway, without our interference.
What we do if they start killing their own people in large numbers, is quite another question, but we must not condone any ‘pan arab’ (sunni) ‘peacekeeping’ nonsense, whether it’s sanctioned by the UN or not, because the OIC and Oil have far too much influence in that corrupt cabal already.

Donald Trump’s most enlightened decision following his entry into the Presidential Race was to choose Mike Pence as his running mate. It was particularly impressive as Pence’s background and experience was so unlike his own – a polished and experienced politician several years younger. And now, when the pressure is really on, they appear to be working very well as a team, one complimenting the other.

OK, I have no doubt that Trump’s heart is on our side. But he has problems, severe problems. Let’s hope he can cope with these, or at least keep these in check.
About the possibility for an Iranian (counter)revolution. Here are my views: Revolutions and counter-revolutions are complex processes. A study of Soros and his NGO’s willl illustrate this amply. So, what are the conditions for the Iranians to consider? Note, in the following I use the term ‘occupier’ generically, since it doesn’t matter if the resistance is against a tyranny or a foreign foe. To commence:
First the good news: In the beginning they don’t need a lot of money and neither do they need any military expertise.
But they have to be aware that they will most probably be caught, tortured and executed by the occupier: I think they are well aware of this. However, the first generation of resistance fighters almost never survives. Most of their family members will also be arrested, tortured etc. because of their actions.
Most of their fellow countrymen will think of them as a criminal and terrorist (However, should their resistance movement be successful, they will name streets and places after them). Their struggle might take many years and there will be a lot of suffering, while success is never sure. Though, the Iranian situation is somewhat different.
If these “downsides” do not deter them, here is what they have to do:
Go to the big cities! It’s much easier to stay anonymous there, than in the countryside, and also to recruit followers. they might want to go to university (they are often the breeding grounds for resistance movements). Against that, in today’s ‘climate, the universities are strongholds of Islam and socialists – practically everywhere, except many parts of Asia-Major.
Choose their followers wisely! There will be a constant threat from traitors and spies right from the beginning and their biggest enemy is not the occupier, but their own people who are collaborating with the enemy. Or tyrant.
Compartmentalization. Keep their groups or cells small and make sure that the members of one cell don’t know any names of resistance members outside their group.
Low tech communication. They’ll have to rely on messengers, letters and and other “primitive” ways of communication. SAFETY! In a later stage, after their movement has recruited communication experts (if not already present), they can switch to encrypted electronic communication. Though, that may attract the security agencies.
Connect with and learn from criminals. The misfits of society will be on their side and can teach them how to smuggle, attain forged documents and many other tricks of the trade. They can also find weapons and explosives for them. (George Soros seems to be a master of this approach). They need a political and a propaganda department; their movement, as much as it is fighting against the enemy, is also fighting for the hearts and minds of their own people.
Taking action, which they already do. In the beginning, they don’t need to attack enemy checkpoints or army barracks. Go out at night and spray political paroles against the occupier on the walls of their city. They also want to target prominent enemy collaborators. They can leave propaganda flyers behind to take responsibility, to explain their actions and to call for resistance. (Not exactly applicable in the Iranian situation)
After their first actions, protest marches etc., comes the most critical phase: their enemy has become aware of them and will try to track them down. That refers to their leadership. Even the smallest mistake they make will cost they lives. On the other hand, there will or might be a lot of people who want to join their movement. Experts of all kinds will offer their help and others will help they with money. This “growing phase” has to be managed carefully and wisely. Again: Be aware of spies!
Get an outside base. The moment their country is occupied, by an external or internal enemy, a lot of their countrymen will flee abroad. They will set up their own resistance movements and it is very important that they connect with these groups from early on to coordinate their actions with them. These organizations, if existent, can help they with a lot of things: Providing a safe haven, financial funds, military hardware and, what is most important, winning the support of a foreign nation for their cause:
Without the help of a powerful allied nation, their guerrilla/protest/counter-revolutionary movement movement will not survive. (***Let’s hope Trump comprehends that fully !!***)
This is all for the start. Many actions of resistance movements are just reactions to the measures that their enemy (that includes tyrants) has taken against them. Iran is here a prime example – so is Saudi Arabia! They shouldn’t worry too much about strategy or even military efficiency, these things fall into place after a while. In the beginning don’t hesitate and just keep going.
But above all: Don’t be afraid!
=======================
But that’s much, much easier said than done. Remember the betrayal of Jesus?
I most certainly wish them good luck! But what will they present us with, if they succeed?
