Turkey has vowed to:
take action against a United States-supported plan to establish a Kurdish-majority force of 30,000 troops in Syria “regardless of who backs them”, cautioned Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
Turkey is desperate to crush the Kurds. The tension is historic:
When Mustafa Kemal Ataturk founded the modern republic in the ashes of World War I, Turkish nationalists attempted to unite everybody under a single identity for the sake of national unity and to prevent any more territorial loss, but the Kurds refused to join up because the Western powers had promised them a state of their own.
Thus Turkish response to “Kurdish nationalism was tantamount to attempted cultural genocide.”
This past summer, Turkey announced an alliance with Shia Iran to counter Kurd ambitions, betraying Turkey’s usual Sunni sectarian stance.
So now adding to tensions is that Kurdish-led regions of Syria are looking to a new U.S.-backed border force to protect them in the face of growing threats from Turkey and Damascus; “Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has now pledged to ‘choke ‘ the 30,000-strong Syrian Border Security Force.”
The jihad wars between rival Muslim groups are a historic plague, now threatening the West; this fact is routinely ignored by leftist-socialist ideologues who have bought into the concept of “Islamophobia” that is intended to silence observers. While Erdogan aims to crush the Kurds, he wants “Islamophobia” declared a crime against humanity.
It was also just announced that the Twitter accounts of Former Fox News hosts Greta van Susteren and Eric Bolling were hacked by Erdogan Turkish loyalists. One of the messages sent out to millions read: “We love the Turks and Muslims in the world. We condemn those who persecute them, especially in the United States, and we share their suffering. We love Turkish soldiers, we love Erdoğan, we love Turkey.”
“Turkey Warns: ‘We Will Take Our Own Measures’ Against U.S.-Allied Syrian Kurds”, Breitbart, by Edwin Mora, Breitbart News, January 17, 2018:
Turkey vows to take action against a United States-supported plan to establish a Kurdish-majority force of 30,000 troops in Syria “regardless of who backs them,” cautioned Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. The foreign minister reportedly urged the United States to “clarify which side it is on, whether it chooses to be with its allies or terror groups.”
“We will take our own measures [against Kurdish-majority force]. Regardless of who backs them, whether it is the U.S. or other countries, it doesn’t matter to us,” the foreign minister told reporters in Canada’s Vancouver city, reports Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency.
The foreign minister reportedly urged the United States to “clarify which side it is on, whether it chooses to be with its allies or terror groups.”
Alluding to “a possible military operation into” Kurdish-controlled northern Syria, the foreign minister pointed out that Turkey will continue to fight against the U.S.-allied People’s Protection Units (YPG/YPJ).
The YPG is the armed wing of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) that controls vast swathes of northern Syria (the YPJ is it’s all-women analog).
America’s support for the Syrian Kurdish groups, which Turkey considers to be terrorists linked to the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK), has driven a wedge between NATO allies Ankara and Washington.
Although the United States has also deemed the PKK to be a terrorist organization, it has provided support to the Syrian Kurdish groups in their fight against the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL).
Cavusoglu’s warning comes after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged to “choke” the 30,000-strong Syrian Border Security Force (BSF).
The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-Arab alliance made up primarily of YPG fighters, is expected to lead the BSF.
In a statement issued by Ryan Dillon, a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS, the alliance confirmed that it is “working jointly” with the YPG-led SDF “to establish and train the new Syrian Border Security Force.”
Erdogan has dismissed the BSF as a “horde of murderers.”…..

Turkey is the biggest islamic danger: they have the only decent islamic military (I trained with many of them), they have 1m soldiers under arms, and, most importantly, they are already within our polis because they are member of NATO. I hope Trump throws them out tomorrow.

Agree. Turkey is a great danger to the world. In 1919, Turkey was shattered and should have been completely dismantled as was the Austrian Empire. Historic Armenia should have been removed, Constantinople assigned to Bulgaria and a Kurdistan created at the time. Today, there is still a need for a Kurdistan, since Erdogan has spoken of Kurds with racist and genocidal threats.
The world should not doubt that Erdogan would dearly love for the next genocide to involve the Kurds.

My US Army Chinook company at Aviano Air base in Italy in 1990/1991 provided Humanitarian assistance to the Kurdish refugees in Iraq. I believe it was called “Operation Provide Comfort”. When the US Chinooks left helping the people, the Turk’s Black Hawks would come in and gun down ALL the refugees; Some men, but especially women and children. So much for the Turks. This doesn’t even mention the Armenian Genocide!

Thanks, Mac. Turkey has one of the most racist and fascist regimes in the world.

Turkey is a nation which has implemented genocide and subsequent cover-up with continued propaganda….regardless of who has been in power — Islamist or Secular.
A poignant movie to see is “The Promise”….to get an emotional sense of what deceit and cruelty which Turks are capable of in this modern and global era….
In their past, they treated Greeks with contempt.
Talk about racists, bigots…. Turks can be very intolerant.
Perhaps their historically Islamic influence makes them so.

You are right. But remember the islamis Turks, are US and Nato allies will Russia is considered an ‘existential threat’ by the US and the Western allies.

US and the Turks are a part of a US and Saudi-led coalition that support various murderous islamic jihadist groups that are fighting to overthrow the secular government of Syria led by president Assad and then to mass-murder Christians and other minorities in Syria. No doubt that Syrian government and Syrian Christians and other minorities in that country will welcome if their enemies start fighting among themselves. In another development, Rex Tillerson, have just stated that the US will keep thousands of its forces and its international jihadist proxies illegally in Syria to make sure the departure of Assad and the victory of the US and Saudi-backed jihadist international proxies in Syria. The Turks are officially allied with the US as they still are a member of Nato but please understand that Erdogan is pissed off over a year ago, after the CIA organized an unsuccessful Gulenist-Islamist coup against him. Russia actually warned him of the plot just before it occurred!
gravenimage says
Christianblood, you do realize that condemning the US for allying with Erdogan *and* accusing them of a coup against him is rather a contradiction?
Gulen is currently based in the US–he does not belong here. But hence claiming that this means that any actions on his part–even assuming he was behind the coup–were done under the aegis of the CIA is ridiculous.
Russia has been playing footsie with Turkey, as well–Putin recently opened Europe’s biggest Mosque along side him in Moscow.
As I have noted many times, Turkey is not an ally of *any* Infidel country–not of the United States or the rest of the West, and not of Russia. *All* Infidels should know better.

Graven, history proofs that US can even back-stab its own close allies if they see some different opportunity that is more in tune with its hegemonic agenda. The overthrowing of the Shah of Iran where the CIA covertly collaborated with Khumeinists is a classic example of this. Yes, Turkey is a member of Nato and technically a US ally but for the past few years, the US and the West were looking for every opportunity to get rid off Erdogan, who in their eyes is a “nationalistic and dictatorial” leader and that is why the CIA took the opportunity to back the Gulenists eventhough they probably knew the Gulenists are more stricter islamists than Erdogan’s (Justice and Development Party) MB party which is, though islamist, but more pragmatic and more nationalistic in its policies.

The disgusting thing is we, the British and then the US, have blocked the Russians in their support of the Eastern Orthodox Christians since from the 19th century on!

Their global realpolitik has been focussed on limiting the power of Russia, rather than helping Eastern persecuted Christians who were almost entirely abandoned.

That is right. And Syria threatened to shoot down Turkish planes if they attack Afrin. See it below. Let us see how it develops. The majority of the Syrian people, including religious minorities in Syria as well as the Syrian government would welcome if their enemies, in this case, the US and the Turks and their jihadist proxies fight it out among themselves.

christianblood says
gravenimage
No contradiction here, Graven! The Syrian government is warning the Turks as gesture of goodwill to the (SDF) Kurds because there are some SDF Kurdish leadership that are sympathetic to the Syrian government (it is a rhetorical political game) but in reality they Syrian government and the majority of the Syrian people would like if the US, the Turks and their proxies fight it out among themselves.
gravenimage says
Of course, that was not what I was referring to. You are condemning the US is an undying ally of Erdogan, and at the same time claiming that they are behind a (supposed) Gulenist coup against him.
christianblood says
Graven,
Politics is a dirty game! Your closest friend and ally can stab you in the back in your weakest moment and that is how the US treated Erdogan. They thought the Gulenists who are more stricter islamists would be better for the American hegemonic agenda than working with Erdogan whom they consider as a “nationalistic dictator”. US always prefers islamists over nationalistic dictators like Erdogan or secular Arab (Ba’athist) dictators like Saddam and Assad or even Qaddafi who was an pan Arab, pan-African socialist dictator. Erdogan combines MB (muslim brotherhood) islamism with Turkey nationalism. Now, US and the West don’t care Erdogan’s MB islamism, (remember Mursi of Egypt and how US demanded that Mubarak step down and be replaced by MB islamist Mursi?). What they don’t like about Erdogan is his “dictatorial nationalism” which they see as a threat! Very, very strange indeed!!!

Erdogan has never been friends with anybody but himself. He supported and bought oil from ISIS behind our back He is against Israel if he needs favors from Islamic world. He used and uses the religion of peace to get his vote to power. He is a typical selfish dictator. One good thing about the guy is nobody likes him.
Most Turks are muslims and will side with Islamic States when things heat up. The few “enlightened” people are communists which indicate that they have no clue either.
I would support Kurds financially and heavily but I would not send ONE American solder in that “shit hole” called middle east.
Like Robert says we must tailor our foreign policy towards Middle East by truly understanding Islam as it is the driving force behind all the crazy things happening there and here along with the clueless globalists.

Isn’t it interesting to note how Islam has no qualms about genocide of those who do not agree with them? Even within their own ranks! Allowing Islam into your country as a sign of compassion is just setting the scene to the genocide of your culture and children. I’m just calling a spade a spade. But in Merkel’s cricles that is not politically correct. So sit back and watch yourself die inch by inch. Islam is well versed and trained on how to eat an elephant – one bite at a time.

According to the United Nations, “Children caught in war zones are increasingly being used as weapons of war—recruited to fight, forced to act as suicide bombers, and used as human shields” ( The Guardian , December 27, 2017). According to UNICEF, “parties to conflicts were blatantly disregarding international humanitarian law and children were routinely coming under attack. Rape, forced marriage, abduction and enslavement had become standard tactics in conflicts across Iraq, Syria and Yemen, as well as in Nigeria, South Sudan and Myanmar.”
